Fantastic and modern resort. Rooms and pools were very clean. They have a private beach and there is a little shopping center just in front of the main entrance. What a amazing holiday from Rome and we wanna thank the staff for it.

Decided on a long haul holiday as our usual holiday of Sharm el Sheikh wasn't going to happen. Thought we'd treat ourselves as it might be the only time we go to Mexico so upgraded to Premium Club. You get executive lounge included UK side which was good. Faster check in and security. Express boarding was also included. On board we got a pamper kit, magazine and newspaper with larger seats with better recline. Pre flight drinks were available too. Meals were of a better quality too served in china dishes and glasses for drinks, proper knives and forks instead of plastic. Express disembarkation and the other end too. We had also booked a private transfer so we're straight into a private mini bus and taken straight to the hotel. The hotel is very open plan so therefore doesn't have air conditioning in the public areas, got quite hot at times. Check in was very quick and we were quickly shown to our room in block 8. The rooms are fresh and spacious but we did notice a damp smell on entering. We thought we would see how it went overnight in case it just. Ended the air con running for a few hours. The next day it was still very obvious so told reception we would prefer another room if possible. They were very good and asked us to give them a chance to sort it, which they did. The mini bar is included in your All Inclusive. The food here is amazing. We are used to going to Egypt where the food is very hot and miss but this was outstanding. We were never bored and never felt the need to eat out at all. We used the steak and Chinese a la carte. We used the Italian at lunch time but never had an evening meal there. The drinks are of an excellent standard and are all imported branded drinks. The pools were clean but we spent our days down on the beautiful beach and cooled off in the sea. The waiters came around with drinks down on the beach so you never really had to leave the beach area for your drinks. The surrounding area is perfect for strolling around and is very safe indeed. There's a few shops over the road and 5th avenue is about a half hour walk away and is well worth a visit. You can use the facilities at the Yucatan and the Tequila but you must have your breakfast and evening meal at your own hotel. This holiday was meant to be a once in a lifetime holiday but it was so good we are going back in October. Once you've been , you'll find it very hard to find anywhere better.

We loved Riu Playacar! This is a fun, family resort and all the staff work so hard to make sure all guests have everything they need. The staff were wonderful, rooms were very clean, pools & beach were fantastic and the food and drinks were good! The entertainment staff were so much fun...they worked from early morning to late night every day!

Nice modern look to the whole hotel. Rooms were very clean and nice. Pools were also clean, pool bar really nice. Lots of tables and chairs in the water. Beach was big and plenty of chairs, so you don't have to worry about not finding a spot. Activities all day long to keep everyone busy. Food was great, only downside some of the restaurants are actually buffets. The main buffet was the best food and had great variety. It's in playacar neighborhood so it's really safe to walk around, but not far from town. We had a lot of fun here.

Loved this place, can't think of anything to complain about. Rooms are modern and spacious, i was in block 5 which was perfect, halfway between beach and main reception where the buffet restaurant is situated. Room was cleaned everyday and clean towels replaced daily too. Food was very good, lots of choice, there are 4 al a carte restaurants also, the Steakhouse was my favourite. Found the staff to be friendly and polite, animation team were great, not too pushy if your not that keen to join in. Pool area's were spotless, plenty of sun loungers, the pool bar is quite big and a great place to enjoy a few drinks. The beach is awesome, very clean and again plenty of sun loungers, lots of lovely palm tree's aswell if you fancy a bit of shade. You will see lots of locals selling all sorts on the beach but a polite 'no thankyou' and they move on without pestering you so it wasn't a problem. Any Brits wishing to change £'s at the reception for peso's please be warned that if the notes have any marks or writing on them they will not accept them, but a bureau de change didn't have a problem with these notes. Overall this place is amazing, loved every minute of the two weeks i was there and i will definately be revisiting.
