Fantastic hotel from start to finish!

My boyfriend and I went to this hotel in June 2016. We weren't sure whether this was the right time of year to go but don't regret the decision atall! Service: The service was fantastic and waiters and staff always happy to help. They always filled your glasses and always made sure you had what you need. Rooms: The rooms were immaculate and always well serviced. The rooms are large with fantastic amenities. Food and drink: The all inclusive food and drinks service was the best we have ever experienced. There was so much choice and always presented well. There was a variety of restaurants to choose from and never had a bad meal. The cocktails were not made from cheap brands and they didn't hold back on the alcohol content, the bar staff were lovely. Beaches: The beach was perfect, no seaweed and the sea was always warm. There were waiters on the beach serving drinks all day and always day time activities to join in with from the entertainment team. Entertainment: The night entertainment was varied, and most shows were cultural and very good. The entertainment team worked very hard to include everyone. Location: the location was fantasttic as we could go into Playa del Carmen for a small taxi fare or 20 minute walk and there was lot of shops to visit there. We also had access two Riu Yucatan and Riu Tequila which helped with a change of scenery and equally good hotels to visit. Weather: We had a few wet days where there was alot of rainfall for a few hours and there is limited things to do inside. Trips: There are so any trips to get involved with from the reps and aso from private travel companies with lots of culture to explore. Overall a fantastic holiday and we would return anyday!

Excellent hotel and location

I travelled with a friend from East Midlands airport (booked with Thomson, flew Dreamliner standard class). Transport to hotel was by Thomson coach and we were greeted with a warm reception and the usual ice cold mocktail. They were very organised with envelopes/information ready for all guests and instructed as to which building our room was in. 5 mins after we arrived at our rooms (just enough time to look around the room), our cases were delivered. It didn’t take long to unpack, change into our costumes and head for the pool/beach and bar. All of the staff are so helpful and as everyone has said, they can’t do enough for you, and that’s without tipping! The hotel location is excellent with only a 40minute stroll via road into Playa del Carmen. You can also walk left along the beach to Playa del Carman too. The hotel is very modern and rooms are white, crisp and clean. There is plenty of storage space (wardrobe, drawers and bedside cabinet). Rooms have air con, a free safe, hairdryer (in the bathroom and was more powerful than my travel hairdryer!), iron (and ironing board), umbrellas (just in case), fridge (with water, beer and soft drinks), usual optics (ice machine available in each building to fill up your ice bucket). Free WIFI is available in reception and pool area, so if your building is near to either of them you might still be able to receive it. Other rooms would have to pay, but we only went to the room to shower, change and sleep so it really wasn’t necessary. Food was delicious in the main restaurant serving buffet breakfast and buffet dinner. The menu changes every evening (but there is always fish, chicken, beef and chips etc). So much choice. Lunch is served near the pool area so not far to stroll. There are snacks available at various spots during the day/evening/during the night but we’d had more than our fill at meal times. Choice of Italian and Asian restaurants just off reception and the Mexican and steakhouse is near the pool area. There are two very good sized pools, one of which they use for aqua aerobics and other activities throughout the day. The pool bar is lovely to relax in and enjoy a cocktail (or 2). Drinks are regularly carried around on trays, on the off chance that you’d like a choice of cocktail, beer or iced water. In between, there are staff taking your specific orders and bringing them to you. No need to leave your lounger (only for the toilet or a swim). There are no paddleboards, which were advertised in the brochure, however we did use the kayaks one morning and the snorkels (these were clean and well maintained). Although snorkelling locally isn’t very exciting. We did aqua aerobics every morning and Zumba on the beach every afternoon. We ventured to the Riu Yucatan and Riu Tequila and I have to say, the Playacar was by far a better choice for us. Trips: Thomson did the usual ‘sell’ of every single trip under the sun, so many that it go confusing which one she was talking about, but after speaking with other guests we decided we definitely wanted to swim in a cenote, zip line and abseil so we chose Tulum adventure which combined a half day of excitement with a bit of ancient tourism. We had initially wanted to go to coco bongo as our travel agent recommended it. We just weren’t sure if it would be too hot, too crowded and not our cup of tea as the bus didn’t return until after 3am (you could get your own taxi back if you wanted to). We spoke to other guests about it and decided to give it a try so we booked with the onsite Coco Bongo man. We were very happy that we did. We stood for almost 5 hours dancing and when 3am came we didn’t want to leave (stayed open as a night club until 5am I think). Our feet decided it was time to go home so we did leave at 3am. All in all, this was an excellent holiday and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Mexico.

The reception we had when we arrived was warm and welcoming, The room was on ground floor , which was what we wanted as there are no lifts, the room was always kept clean , and nothing was to much for him, There was a big verity of food for breakfast, you should be able to find something, The dinner in the evening was good no problems what so ever, There was a restaurant open not far from pool area where you could eat fir most of the day, I found that the food was fine, They have a swim up bar ,but I didn't use it, My holiday was fir relaxion , but alas the animation team music was far to load , they had 2 pools , but the music where the games was not being played was still to load, We did go to the beach pleanty of sun beds, no problem getting one, but again the animation team would spoil it for me with there blaring music, The evening entertainment was ok,I've seen worse, There are shops opposite the hotel it's worth a walk round them. Internet you have to pay fir in your room , I was told you would get it free by pool I did not receive any signel, but you could get it in reception area and that was free, When it rains the walkways are slippery

Spent 2 weeks here, our first trip to Mexico, and we will definitely be back! On arrival, after an hour transfer (it didn't feel like that long) we were welcomed and shown to reception, given a drink, checked in and given info that we needed. Bellboys took our luggage to our room for us! Room: we were in block 5 that was nice and quiet equal distance from main area and pool/beach. Room was lovely and clean, modern and very spacious. Mini bar stocked every 2nd day and included in all inclusive. Maids cleaned room every day. Air con is brilliant. Room has hair dryer, iron and boArd, and safe. Food: there is a main buffet- great selection for breakfast lunch and evening meal, food was very tasty. Staff helpful and regularly check for drinks etc. There is a steakhouse, Mexican, Asian and Italian. All lovely but steakhouse was our favourite. No need to book, and no restrictions on amount of times you go or what you wear aslong as it isn't beachwear. Bars: there is a 24hr bar near reception which offers snacks too, 2 bars at theatre area for evenings, pool bar and swim up bar. Everything you could imagine they have, beer, cocktails, spirits, prosecco, wine , soft drinks the list goes on. Waiters go around the pool and beach offering drinks and taking orders. Staff were excellent. Very friendly and help if you have any problems. The entertainment staff were brilliant, work very hard to make sure everyone is having a good time and also aren't pushy to make you do any of the day time entertainment. The pool and beach area was always kept clean and tidy.. along with all the grounds of the hotel. Never had a problem getting a sun lounger, there is plenty. Overall we had no complaints about this hotel, it was beyond our expectations. Would highly recommend this hotel, to any age group as it suits everyone.. couples, family's, young and old.

The best holiday ever!

Where do I start? As soon as we got to the hotel it was clean, we were greeted by the friendliest receptionist ever, he told us all our details whilst we had a nice cold refreshment, we then walked to our room and our suitcases were with us within 5 minutes. The room was so lush!!!! We were in the 8th block, next to the restaurant, both pools, pool bar and the beach. It was kept clean every single day, the food was brilliant, a massive selection every day, the steakhouse you must try!!! Which is also in the all inclusive package (BRILLIANT) best steak ever!!!! The entertainment team were excellent! Couldn't do enough for you - always making an effort and always smiling. My other half also proposed so this holiday was extra special. I'd recommend it to anyone!!!!! Literally couldn't fault one thing. We loved it so much on our last day we were looking at holidays for next year to go again. Please go if you have the chance you'll have the best time!
