When were staying there, the GM's were there looking things over I guess. I am a server in the US and I know how we handle situations there. I happened upon on of the big shot chefs, assuming the GM chef as he was not from Jamaica, talking down to the chef working behind the pasta bar right in front of the guests. I didn't feel that this was appropriate behavoir at all. That could have been handled out of the sight of the guests and in a different place. Really made me angry.

I truly can't express my sincere gratefulness of this trip. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, from the booking to the food to the staff to the room was absolutely beyond any of my wildest dreams! I can't say enough good things about the entertainment staff of this hotel. They were the most hard working people I've ever met! We so enjoyed everything we experienced! I can't stop talking about it! We will certainly be back to this location sooner than later!

Fun Vacation

Our family had a great time on vacation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was evident that the employees fully understood and embraced the corporate culture. On one occasion my husband and I stepped on a piece of broken glass in the pool. The life guard quickly attended to our cuts and another one immediately entered to pool to inspect for further glass. The whole situation was taken care of in less than five minutes. I would definitely recommend Riu resorts and Apple Vacations.

Need Improvement

Overall the hotel needs a makeover. It is not comparable to the 3 other Riu Palaces I have stayed at. I found the new policy of no reservations for ala carte restaurants frustrating. Dinner became a cattle call and totally unorganized. I was unaware of this policy when scheduling the trip My biggest complaint was the total lack of enforcement of Jamaica's no smoking policy. I had to move chairs constantly at the pool, There was frequent and very open use of marijuana at the pool despite many complaints to management. It appeared no one was in charge. On a positive note the wait staff in the restaurants were wonderful especially Mario and Damion.

Very satisfied, my first all inclusive, can't wait to go back, excellent service and staff, food selection is great, food quality was decent, beach was excellent, pools were good. My only complaint was how one had to line up for dinner in a restaurant and the vendors on beach some were aggressive, otherwise excellent place!!!

Food was good and could always find something to eat even if it was only the vegetables and the fruit. Entertainers were extremely talented but the shows were not my style. Only went to swimming pool twice and bother times the drunks were out of control. Enjoyed the beach so much more.

We stayed at the RIU Paradise in Negril and could not have been happier. Even after our first room was a "smokey mess" the staff quickly changed our room and even upgraded us to an ocean view. The food was always fresh and available. The beach was magnificent and the pool was always a fun place to be in the afternoon. We enjoyed cocktails at night while watching the dancers. The entire resort staff was accommodating and went out of their way to make us feel special.

I was understanding that when you go to a all inclusive you didn't need to tip not Jamaica -employees looking for a hand out all the time- not very friendly for sure also everywhere you turn someone trying to sell you drugs very disturbing - the Apple rep there screwed up my birthday plans- when we had them set and he insisted we change them and the tour was cancelled and then not tell us until the last minute. overall very poor country and people want you to pay for it. will never go again

Disappointed
BONNIE T.
Mar 19 2017
Upon booking- our American Airlines flight number was VUHLEE the names traveling were: Phillip French Brittni janess David French Jill landing Bonnie Thompson Pierce Thompson We booked over 9 months ago- June 27.2016, and had requested three ocean front junior suites- on ground level. Bonnie Thompson had also called to ask for an anniversary themed room, and was told that it would be accommodated. When they went to their NEW room "Happy Honeymoon" was bannered across their door. Nothing on the first day. Obviously it is an anniversary not a honeymoon- but no big deal Upon check in, we discovered that our rooms were on the second floor. After we had been told NUMEROUS times by calling the resort and our travel agent that our room would be ground level. We were told that our rooms could be moved the next day. My father in law has had a knee replacement and is unable to walk up and down steps without assistance. He said he would deal with the room for one night. The next day two of the rooms on the first floor were available, however my fiances and my room was not. We were told by Jadine and another girl- Sheenah? That our room would be available around 11 am on 3/11. Upon calling to check on our room it still wasn't available---around 1 pm. I called the front desk from room 6109. The girl on the telephone asked if we could pack our bags and then we would have someone come grab our bags to put them in our room. While walking out of room 6109 we received a phone call and was asked if we could put our bags into their room 6109- the anniversary room- since ours was not ready. We went up to our room 6215 and grabbed our bags and carried them down ourselves. We waited over ten minutes for help, and they had not arrived. We carried our five bags down to room 6109 and I called the front desk and was told david was on his way up to help. I told her that we had carried our OWN bags down the flights of steps and had taken care of it. We found David on the stair case upon leaving room 6109 and gave him our room keys. The front desk and David are aware that we CARRIED OUR OWN luggage down. I talked to the front desk today and they told me- that their staff stated that we did not carry our own luggage down and that the staff did. That was not the case. David had said that he would've put our bags into a closet. What closet I have no idea. So all day we had to Cary our valuables to the pool and beach. Our room 6111 was not ready until after 4:30 that day. When we were told that our room would be ready around 11. When I finally went to get my room key, we were given duplicates to room 6110. And not ouroom. So after walking all the way to our room the keys did not work. Had to walk back to the front desk to get our new keys. We then carried our luggage again from room 6109 to 6111. In my father in laws room 6110 there has been more issues that the front desk and the manager Andrew have been made aware of. While my mother in law was using her hair dryer it completely burnt up. It does not work. She was in the shower yesterday and pulled the curtain down because of how slippery it is in all of our rooms. Andrew said that rubber mats will be provided in our rooms. While they attempted to watch tv the first night in their room- the tv would not turn on. Apparently the fuse is blown in the socket and every time they attempted to turn it on the entire rooms power would shut off. The front desk was notified. The tv is now plugged in- but the socket has not been fixed. this is a fire hazard and the staff obviously does not care to fix this issue. I have enjoyed my stay, but all of these inconveniences have made our trip no where near as happy as it should've been. The front desk has done nothing but claim that their staff has not told them anything. I was basically called a liar by carrying my own luggage down- because staff claimed they carried it Dow. There was nothing that they could do and that is why I am writing this email. We have spent close to 14k on this vacation and I can be honest I will NOT be back to tropical bay palace. This is mine and my fiance first trip out of the country and it has not been the best.

Everything was perfect in our trip. Personal that work at the hotel where always smiling and trying to help you all the time. Our room was good size and everything work very well. The only negative things we saw was a lot of persons drinking inside the pool and drop the drink inside the pool. They should forbidden drinking inside the pool. Thats my opinion of course. Beside that is was wonderful

We have just returned from Riu Palace for the 4th time. I am amazed how the staff remembered us from our previous visits, this ranged from the Bellman to the room attendants It was lovely to be greeted from the friends we made on previous visits. The staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Each and every member of staff are unique, I arrived home this morning and missing them and Jamaica already. My favourites are Hotdog and his team of funny entertainers Ionie and Natrina, our breakfast and lunchtime hosts Jolly- the best Jerk ever! The rooms are dated, but they are clean (thank you Sophia for our brilliant towel art!) so what if the room needs a face lift, cleanliness is what matters and I had no complaints. Our safe needed new batteries- this was sorted within 6 minutes Our room was upgraded to Ocean view - thank you The food was excellent and always something new to try Locals will chat and try to sell you things but a simple no thank you is all that is needed All in all an excellent time at Riu Palace Tropical Bay - I would disregard the negative comments. There is always somebody who expects the impossible. I was saddened to hear some guests speak to the staff like crap, this is unacceptable behaviour. Manners are free! Thank you for an amazing time ❤️

Well we try and go every year and love the place. You will never find a beach like this one. Rooms are getting tired looking, but hear they are doing a total renovation next year. But clean and still the Best food ever. We always sit under our favorite tree and sunbathe and have so much fun and relaxing time. I love to sleep at night with the ocean sound and the windows open. Its safe there and no bugs. A Special Thank you to our loyal friend Andrew from the front Desk. He is one of my favorite ones. He is so sweet and so professional. Also Sharon our maid is the best. And we loved Jaclyn in the restaurant each night as she is spot on in taking care of your water classes to be full and putting napkin in your lap. Also I loved UKEL the repair man in the building. My special Jerk man from the Jerk hut. I hope all the staff are still there next time we return. This really makes a big difference to regular clients to see the same friendly faces and staff we know well. Everyone who works there are so super nice and treat us like Gold.!!! Thank you to all for a wonderful vacation and will be back next time for sure. Can't wait to see you all again. PS. We walked down the new Royalton and it has nothing on the RIU. Way too much walking I hear from guests there , and also small beach for such a big hotel. The best beach and service and food Is the RIU.

Excellent!

Currently at this hotel. It’s our 3rd time at the Riu Palace Tropical Bay Negril and we are planning to return again. It’s amazing, directly on the beach one swim-up bar pool another large swimming pool and smal childrens one. Food is great with lots of choice at buffet all delicious with impeccable service. Four restaurants, our favourite being Rimini Italian. Cod main meal highly recommended. Daily aerobics on the beach at 10am also at 12:30 in the pool. Negril is a safe place and fun. White sand beachfront and clean and very well kept gardens and surroundings. I have nothing negative to say at all. Staff all amazing ‘happy feet’ ‘sweetie’ ‘wayne’ ‘gray’ ‘flex’ make this place what it is, and Christine the TUI rep. Big -up Jamaica. 🇯🇲

One big happy family

I am quite dissappointed to read a couple of reviews on here so feel I have to add mine to really give a true review of what to expect . Some people are so very rude to these hard working staff We have just returned today from a 2 week stay at The Tropical Bay Palace and one word describes our stay .....WOW !!! From start to finish we were treat like royalty from the minute we walked through the reception to the minute we left . It was a holiday of a lifetime and we came with friends to celebrate our 50th birthdays . We were upgraded to a pool and ocean view room straight away which was stunning What we did love to see was the Manager walking round daily , speaking to guests and staff . He seemed so friendly and the staff all spoke so highly of him , saying it was like working with a family as he was so admired . He always had a smile and asked how we were . We had frequent calls from reception to ask if everything was Ok and if we needed anything . One day we had beat the maid to our room and we rang down for towels , they were there within 5 minutes with a friendly housekeeper knocking on our door . The grounds men always had time for a friendly “hello”. We made a great friendship with Sheldon the life guard , every morning we had a little natter . Fantastic guy !! In the dining room we have to say our favourite waiter was Damien . What a guy !! so genuine , so friendly , so knowledgable . He remembered which drinks we had , he showed us tricks and our table was spotless at all times . He clearly loves his job and takes great pride in everything he does. He had a trainee with him , Lasagna , who was also lovely , friendly and will go far if she is under Damien’s wing ! All staff in the restaurant were wonderful , always greeting you with good morning and a smile . The chefs were incredible and dished up some lovely meals , usually with a song . I had a few sing songs with the chefs . It really did make our day start with a smile from the minute we got up . And finally The Entertainment Team ......... absolutely brilliant . They worked such long hours but always with a smile and time for every guest . We feel we have made a special friendship with Flex, Happy Feet , Juicy J , Extreme , Hot Dog and Sweety. I felt so upset saying goodbye yesterday. They are all so talented and actually made our holiday . They have an excellent working relationship , they are like best friends and the way the get the audience going is amazing . I could watch Flex dance all day and it is noticeable how passionate he is of his job . Happy feet is so very funny . The games and shows they put on where truly fab , Nothing was too much trouble and always with a huge smile . They are a massive asset to the hotel . The manager obviously thinks a lot about his staff and this is reflected throughout from the atmosphere in and around the Hotel . Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday . Thank you for inviting us to be your family for the last 2 weeks Wendy and Mark Grimsby UK .
