This was our second time at this resort. They do a wonderful job with food!!!! I am excited to see the remodel. We booked a trip to exuma from the rep at the hotel. We had a wonderful day. However when we booked the trip we told the sales girl that my daughter had pain issues and she never said a thing about the speed boat slapping the water for 1 hour on the way out to exzuma. If she was good at her job she would have incouraged us to fly instead!!!! That was a little disappointing that she did not care about her clients!!! My daughter and myself were in pain the next few days after that trip!!!! And that could have been avoided!!! The trip it self was great after we got past the open water and the gentelman were wonderful. But she should know what she is selling!!! Also there is no ladders to get into the boat!!! Also something the sales person should know when she is putting a older person on a boat with no ladder. And a woman with pain issues. The actual hotel stay was fantastic!!!!!!!

Awful vacation

This was our worst vacation we've had. Started out with a room right in front of elevators. Had to wait one night before we could switch rooms. The following day had to put our stuff in storage until room was ready at 3:00. Day 2 water was not on which happened sporadically for a couple days. Day 3 my husbands wallet was lost (stolen) on the property. Day 4 safe in the room was broken and had to get repaired. Overall no service on the beach, pool or lobby. We invited a family to go on this trip with us and I am thoroughly embarrassed that they had to put up with all this too.

Non-Smoking Rule

When I go on vacation I am getting away from home rules. NOT being able to smoke was a slap in the face to me. This was my 3rd trip to the RIU and I was made to feel like a 3rd class guest, being made to go outside to smoke. Being able to smoke in the RIU was what I really liked about the hotel. I can assure you that I was not the only guest to feel this way. I am forced to smoke outside at home and I do not feel I should have to do it on vacation. The 24hr sports bar was empty as was the bar in the lobby. It was really sad because all of us smokers were forced outside with our drinks and to socialize. Very bad decision on RIU 's part.

Just ok, not great

The hotel itself is outdated and smells. There was something eating the wood in the dresser in our room (bugs). The balcony I'd classify as unsafe and the service was hit or miss. Food was decent and drinks were good. Beach was ok, but crowded with pushy vendors at times. Out of the 7 or 8 all-inclusive's we've stayed at, this was by far the worst.

Very poor Security of the area. We saw many people in the pool and beach area that were not registered guests. Entire Hotel needs a staff and building upgrade.

There were bugs in the sheets. I have pictures to prove it. No pillow cases on the pillows. The crown moulding above our bed fell off and almost hit my wife in the head. The pool closed at 6pm. 6pm? It was still light out. One of the three elevators was out of service making going up or down very time consuming. Multiple dinner venues inside the hotel were closed, limiting options, and the food was mediocre at best. Never going to any RIU again.

I am going to keep this short and sweet. My wife and I stayed and the Riu Palace for our honeymoon. The price was great, the food was fantastic and being all inclusive made everything convenient. We want to come back next year with friends, at you can not beat the price.

The lobby, restaurants, facilities and staff are great. My issue was with my actual room. The carpet was damp with.mildew when I arrived so I was moved to anotber room. The 2nd room's carpet was better but the mattress was lumpy, the wall lamps rusty, and the fridge in the mini bar had spots of mold. The resort does not deserve gold Apple rating.

I and my wife were celebrating our 25th anniversary. Our overall experience was excellent. The staff were friendly. The food was good at all the restaurants we ate at. I room was excellent and the air conditioning was ice cold. My wife recommended the RIU to one of her classmates. Despite some negative and good reviews I read before we visited Paradise Island. I would recommend the RIU.

All inclusive dining?

The Bahamian people are great. The hotel is just opened, and clean,on the beach. The problem is with the dining. There are four restaurants and a buffet restaurant. The restaurants are open from 6:30-9. The four restaurants do not take reservations, and are small, so the first night we went down to the steakhouse and were told it would be a 30-40 minute wait. They do not take names or room numbers, we were told to wait there in line until we were seated. The third night there we went down at 8 and were told the restaurant had met it’s quota of dinners served and was closes. The fifth night we went at 6:10 and the lines for all the four restaurants was about 40 people so we wound up to to Atlantis and paying for our meal two nights. I didn’t expect to have to eat cafeteria style on vacation. We talked to management and were told this was the way they operate. Next time we are going to go to Atlantis! Also my wife tripped over a rug in the lobby, bruised her knee. We asked for the incident report we filled out and were told no, it’s for “in-house “ use only.

Wating line in all restaurants. Well located but service is not good. Pillows at the room are small and unconfortable. They dont have Pillows menú. Make sure to come in summer time otherwise the wind will blow you out

The hotel that was just recently renovated. Everything was clean and modern. This is a smaller hotel very easy to navigate through. There is no worries about getting lost!! It was nice to see staff being very diligent about cleaning. Staff was always seen cleaning floors windows and so on... There were two pools. One of which had a swim up bar. This one was small and did not take long to fill up and get busy. We tended to sit by the regular pool! The food was great at the buffet! A great assortment to satisfy many tastes!! We ate at the Fusion restaurant and it was very nice! Enjoyed the lobster Risotto! The steak house was said to be delicious although we did not make it there!! There are no reservations taken for dinner in the evenings. First come first serve starting at 6:30 P.M. I would recommend lining up around 5:45 to get in and get your seat! All of the staff at this hotel were very friendly and attentive!! We really liked the service!! This hotel is literally steps from the Atlantis resort! We went to the Casino every evening. The Casino was energetic and lots of people to be found! The only thing I did not like here was the smoke!! The dig(Aquarium) is free in the evenings we later found out!! We purchased the Aquaventure waterpark pass at the Atlantis for one day of the trip. It cost $129 US. This did not include a meal. We came back to the Riu for lunch! The lazy River was closed and we could not access several other pools. We did the Rapid River Ride and my raft tipped over and I went under water. I think this happens frequently and people and kids are constantly bumping into each other...The waterpark was difficult to navigate through and signage was not great! Overall it was a rip off! Took a cab to Bay Street for shopping. It cost us less then $20. We took the water ferry back which cost about $6 each this included tip! The water ferry is a good option for traveling back to the resort because of fact that it is a little slower. It goes about once every half hour or when it fills up!! Be ready for the Straw Market if you decide to go there!! Everyone wants you to buy from them! It is not a peaceful place to browse. If you so much as touch or stop the vendors hound you!! Although you can negotiate a good price! Felt fairly safe here! Explored downtown during the daytime!! Be sure to tip the staff at the resort they work very hard! Also, we enjoyed the bus driver who transported us to and from the resort! Great facts and tips about this Country!! We unfortunately did not get our breakfast as promised the morning we left this resort! Staff did not show up for breakfast before the bus picked us up at 7:00 a.m. A little disappointed. We ended up eating at the Dunkin Donuts at the Airport.

My nephew and I just popped down for a long weekend to hit the beach and do a little gambling. It was so convenient to the casino at the Atlantis. All we had to do was walk down the Riu driveway, then go up the next driveway into the Atlantis. From that entrance it is a 3 to 5 minute walk but all inside and very pretty. The rooms were nice. Nothing over the top but comfortable. They had an extra blanket in the closet which we appreciated since we like sleeping in a cold room and the a/c worked great. The view from the balcony was lovely. We enjoyed the beach but wished there was drink service. Had to go up to the bar and fetch our own drinks. We missed having a hot tub on property. There is something that looked like it might be a hot tub but it was just a cutaway with bubble jets open to the pool and no hot water. We ate in 2 of specialty restaurants plus the Steakhouse. You need reservations to get in the steakhouse. It is very popular but we just walked into the others. One of them had no coffee. I really like to have coffee at the end of a meal. That was disappointing. We enjoyed the meals but the worst ambiance of all the restaurants was the steakhouse because the "steakhouse" is the same room they have the buffet in. Breakfast. We would have enjoyed having a nice breakfast delivered to the room like some all-inclusives have but they only offered a continental breakfast which was minimal. If you want the breakfast buffet, go early. They cut the omelets off around 10:30am. We got there around that time and there were no setups on the table and could not get anyone's attention. We felt ignored by the staff at that time like we were too late so too bad for us. But shout out to Cornelius in the specialty restaurant. Most friendly and fun staff member we encountered. Overall it was good value for the money.

Great Vacation at Riu Palace Paradise Island

Last November, my friend and I took a trip to the Bahamas, Riu Palace Paradise Island. It was my first visit with the Riu, and I have to say I was quite impressed. Having traveled to many Caribbean islands and visiting many properties, I found the Riu Palace to be very nice. The accommodations were nice, nothing extravagant, but not too shabby either. The Pool & Beach were great! The beaches were nice, powdery & sandy, well groomed, and the pool & pool bar were well kept, plenty of towels, & while some guests had that "must claim my chair" early in the morning mentality, we were never at a loss to find a chair by the pool when we needed one. The food at the resort was excellent. It's one of the reasons we booked another trip to a Riu resort in Aruba just recently (in Aruba) The staff was friendly & we never experienced any issues with housekeeping not tending to our needs & request, got to meet the manager several times who always asked how things were going and genuinely interested if we were enjoying ourselves, it made me feel good about giving the Riu Palace Paradise Island a try. The only disappointing aspect of the trip was an excursion we booked (for a Sunset sail) which was a bit disappointing. While the cruise itself was pleasant enough, several people partaking in the excursion seemed uncomfortable being on the boat, & they brought the vibe of the trip down a bit, but overall we enjoyed a nice sunset sail, got to see a bit of the island, & where the cruise ships dock, & meet some nice folks. I would highly recommend staying at the Riu Palace on Paradise Island. It's a short flight from NYC (actually took us longer to travel to Atlantic City (by bus, from NYC) than it did to fly and arrive at the resort in the Bahamas, and the airport was a breeze to get in & out of. I'm very much looking forward to planning a return trip in the not too distant future here, and I've heard since I last visited, they have engaged in some renovations, which should make our next stay even more enjoyable.
