This was our second time at this resort. They do a wonderful job with food!!!! I am excited to see the remodel. We booked a trip to exuma from the rep at the hotel. We had a wonderful day. However when we booked the trip we told the sales girl that my daughter had pain issues and she never said a thing about the speed boat slapping the water for 1 hour on the way out to exzuma. If she was good at her job she would have incouraged us to fly instead!!!! That was a little disappointing that she did not care about her clients!!! My daughter and myself were in pain the next few days after that trip!!!! And that could have been avoided!!! The trip it self was great after we got past the open water and the gentelman were wonderful. But she should know what she is selling!!! Also there is no ladders to get into the boat!!! Also something the sales person should know when she is putting a older person on a boat with no ladder. And a woman with pain issues. The actual hotel stay was fantastic!!!!!!!

This was our worst vacation we've had. Started out with a room right in front of elevators. Had to wait one night before we could switch rooms. The following day had to put our stuff in storage until room was ready at 3:00. Day 2 water was not on which happened sporadically for a couple days. Day 3 my husbands wallet was lost (stolen) on the property. Day 4 safe in the room was broken and had to get repaired. Overall no service on the beach, pool or lobby. We invited a family to go on this trip with us and I am thoroughly embarrassed that they had to put up with all this too.

Non-Smoking Rule

When I go on vacation I am getting away from home rules. NOT being able to smoke was a slap in the face to me. This was my 3rd trip to the RIU and I was made to feel like a 3rd class guest, being made to go outside to smoke. Being able to smoke in the RIU was what I really liked about the hotel. I can assure you that I was not the only guest to feel this way. I am forced to smoke outside at home and I do not feel I should have to do it on vacation. The 24hr sports bar was empty as was the bar in the lobby. It was really sad because all of us smokers were forced outside with our drinks and to socialize. Very bad decision on RIU 's part.

The hotel itself is outdated and smells. There was something eating the wood in the dresser in our room (bugs). The balcony I'd classify as unsafe and the service was hit or miss. Food was decent and drinks were good. Beach was ok, but crowded with pushy vendors at times. Out of the 7 or 8 all-inclusive's we've stayed at, this was by far the worst.

Very poor Security of the area. We saw many people in the pool and beach area that were not registered guests. Entire Hotel needs a staff and building upgrade.

There were bugs in the sheets. I have pictures to prove it. No pillow cases on the pillows. The crown moulding above our bed fell off and almost hit my wife in the head. The pool closed at 6pm. 6pm? It was still light out. One of the three elevators was out of service making going up or down very time consuming. Multiple dinner venues inside the hotel were closed, limiting options, and the food was mediocre at best. Never going to any RIU again.

I am going to keep this short and sweet. My wife and I stayed and the Riu Palace for our honeymoon. The price was great, the food was fantastic and being all inclusive made everything convenient. We want to come back next year with friends, at you can not beat the price.

The lobby, restaurants, facilities and staff are great. My issue was with my actual room. The carpet was damp with.mildew when I arrived so I was moved to anotber room. The 2nd room's carpet was better but the mattress was lumpy, the wall lamps rusty, and the fridge in the mini bar had spots of mold. The resort does not deserve gold Apple rating.

I and my wife were celebrating our 25th anniversary. Our overall experience was excellent. The staff were friendly. The food was good at all the restaurants we ate at. I room was excellent and the air conditioning was ice cold. My wife recommended the RIU to one of her classmates. Despite some negative and good reviews I read before we visited Paradise Island. I would recommend the RIU.

Not impressed

Been here many times before. Excited about renovations. Disappointed to find lobby bar gone and only Calypso bar . Open 24 hours but very busy and if you're not 24 very hard to get service. Food is nachos and dry sandwiches and soggy salads and not much of them. The buffet has moved back in the new extension and outside patio closed in. Hardwood floors don't appear to be wood but plasticky Late checkout fee is now $100.00 where it used to be not more than $30-$40. New pool looks smaller and beach bar moved closer to beach and much windier. When paying that much money you shouldn't have a view of old chairs. The food and most staff are still good. Might be last time coming here. Very disappointed

I had a pleasant stay at this very nicely renovated and clean hotel. The bathroom and shower area is very spacious. The fridge is restocked daily with beer, water and soda. Hard alcohol is available in the room also. I felt the service here was very good, and the staff was very accommodating. The buffet food is very good. I ate at the steak house and the Indian restaurant, and in both cases I thought they were average. The Jerk Chicken grill by pool is excellent! There they serve chicken, pork, rice and vegetables. It makes for a great lunch by the pool. The pool bar and the Calypso bar inside both serve good drinks and have good quality alcohol if you ask for it. I thought there could be one or two more bartenders behind the bar at Calypso because at times the service was slow. The beach is extremely beautiful at this location and you sink right into the white sand on the beach. The two pools here are adequate for a very enjoyable pool day. The infinity pool is a neat little pool with a great view of the ocean and a swim up bar, but the water was kind of cold. There is a hot tub in the Renova Spa that is free to use. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here and I would definitely return.

Unfortunately there are not many good things to write about our experience at this Riu Property..The owners should really spend more time training the staff to be more service oriented . Albeit an all inclusive property, service was a a mediocre level at best.. The lack of room amenities also was quite surprising . Also the lobby as well as the whole first floor had a terrible odor.. It took a lot of getting use The restaurants were over crowded and if you wanted a sit down dining experience with waiter service you had to get on a line an hour before the restaurant opened . They should have made the gigantic lobby smaller and made the restaurants bigger. So much to our disappointment unless we wanted to eat dinner before 6:30 our only option was a buffet, where the smell of the dining room was offensive too. The hotel greeters were friendly and the servers around the pool were also quite friendly as were our housekeeping ladies..

Don’t expect 5-star when you book a 3-star

The Riu is fine. We chose it for a girls/mom’s long weekend escape. There were 4 of us all around 48 y.o. It was fine. Not spectacular and not horrible. All of the comments regarding odors were true. We had to switch rooms after our first night because the a/c was off somehow and our floors were literally soaked with condensation/water and we were all slipping all over! They made the switch for us after some debate about pricing, but that was fine. Long lines for the restaurants. Last night entering the buffet for dinner felt like a cattle call. Otherwise one or more of us would just go down around 6p, get a cocktail and stand in line. No big deal. Apparently other reviewers on here don’t actually read reviews before they write them. Food was fine, especially considering it is all prepared to feed the masses. The crowd is generally well-behaved with some self-absorbed millennial rookies acting like idiots. One in particular in the lobby this morning at 4a who clearly had been out all night just begging one of the kind staff members to stay by her side and she was scared and wanted to go hooooooome! Classless. She was from a group of girls in the pool the day before all passing around and dancing with a giant inflatable penis. I waffled between feeling totally ashamed of their representation of Americans and wanting to grab them by their hair extensions and drag them to the side for a good talking to about how to conduct themselves in public. We saw more of that than we wanted to, but again - we kept the expectations low and frankly, we gave ourselves great joy in watching their stupidity and tagging on them. Beach location = fabulous. Proximity to Atlantis = great. I’m always stunned that people will book something 3-star and expect 5-star service. C’mon? You want 5-star? Pay for it - you’ll get it. This was fine for our more economical Mom-escape. Not sure I would go back. The Bahamian people are phenomenal! Kind. Beautiful smiles. Friendly and welcoming. That was very nice!

Stayed for 5 nights in Jan at the Riu with my 18 year old daughter. I was worried after reading some negative reviews...all I can say is WOW! What a beautiful resort! Everything was recently updated and the staff exceeded expectations! We were booked thru jet blue vacations to arrive Thurs 1/4 for 5 nights. Couldn't get there thurs due to the snow storm so made it there Friday. The hotel accommodated us and extended our stay to Wed at no additional cost! Also when checked in we were upgraded to a higher floor room! The restaurants were amazing. Ate at the buffet most days since had to wait to get in to specialty restaurants. No problem as the food in the buffet was amazing and they had different themes every night. Service was amazing all the staff attentive and extremely friendly! The jerk chicken at the pool was a must! Food amazing ate there several times. Room service was limited but they had deserts (choc cake and cheesecake yum), fresh fruit and sandwiches and salads. The bar in the lobby was open 24hrs, they had nightly entertainment and the drinks were great! Also there were snacks there too. Room also had minibar and liquor stocked daily. A quick walk right next door to visit casino shops and aquarium at Atlantis. We didn't do the day pass for waterpark but visited the aquarium and digs. Pools were a little cool but temps were only in high 70s. They have a main pool and then the beautiful pool with swim up bar overlooking the beach. The pool bar also very nice overlooking the beach. Beach was quiet not super crowded and they had chairs available and water sports. For the value this resort was great..will definitely be back and looking forward to trying other Riu properties as well! A++++!!!!
