hotel grounds .Lovely clean and great food. Had money stolen from our locked safe. we arrived on the 9th of june and had a chilled first week .The start of our second week we had over £500.00 English pounds taken from our locked safe. This was our 3rd visit to this area and had previously stayed at the Vallarta . Riu and mexico was probably going to be our holiday choice for a long time to come. Reported it the the police . taking over 3 hours to do this . I would not recommend you take the risk if you don't want to be robbed . I cant explain how poorly we have been treated .

Excellent stay and almost perfect

We stayed here from Aug 30 to Sept 1. Resort is about 25 minutes from airport to the resort without any stopping on other resorts. Top notch in term of services, food, especially the buffet if you like seafood, and drinks from our experience to AI trips. Lobster tail is served at La Toscana, wish they allow more than one. :) However, you can have as many as you want during the Orient Theme Night at the buffet. Also great quality sear tunas, salmon, beef tataki so don't miss it. Always received excellent service from Bruno and Paoblo for lunch/breakfast, Lucera and Cristina at dinner. Bell boy, Marco.. Our room is located on the 5th floor and unfortunately across from the construction as mentioned by other but it didn't bother us much because they work from 8-5. The only issue we had was the last night when trying to eat at the japanese restaurant. We were not allowed in because my son, 13 yr, did not wear long pants even he wore short khaki pants. Was told he is too tall, wth??? and not sure where this policy came from. Didn't really want to make a big deal out of it so buffet we went again. I am not sure this resort is catered for young children when the pools are pretty deep for kids under 10. At the mean time, you are not allowed to bring in big floats in the pools and you are also not allowed to throw balls around even with sunwing ball??. Ocean current is quite strong for younger kids to go in. Will we come back, probably without the kids..

Such a shame for that 1%!!!! would have been fantastic

What can i say about the Riu Palace Pacifico? My partner and I stayed here at the end of August for two weeks, we coincided the trip there to celebrate my birthday. I had a few email correspondence's with the hotel before hand, after reading some of the reviews on here suggesting asking for a room with a seaview, needless to say, we were given a room that faced the courtyard and the ocean, which was lovely. On arrival to the hotel, we were greeted with a refreshing cocktail, and after an 11 hour flight it was very much welcome. The checking in process was swift and efficient, and our luggage was taken to our room. The rooms are beautiful, and large with a small seating area. Our whirlpool bath didn't work, but we didn't care, the room was more than adequate for our needs. The food in the hotel is amazing, if eating in any of the restaurants you will not be disappointed, the staff worked tirelessly, ensuring that your glass was never empty. The food is honestly out of this world, especially the food in Krystal (My Fave) and the butternut squash is the best soup i honestly have ever tasted. At breakfast, the selection in Peninsula was vast, they catered for every possible taste and diet, inc vegan and gluten free. The lunchtime menu was equally as extraordinary in Peninsula, and with Toscana opening with a smaller selection, however just as tempting. At around 3pm there is a bbq around the bar, for those who may not want to have left their sunbeds or the sun to grab lunch. However, a note to those who don't want to eat in the restaurants you can get a plastic plate to go into the buffet and return to your sunbed with your food (Fab when its sunny). The evening specialty restaurants are fantastic, Kyoto with beautiful Japanese inspired food, I found the sushi amazing. Guacamole, was good with plenty of a selection. Toscana, from my experience was that it was really difficult to get a table due to it being so popular, I tried twice and was unable to get a table, however on the third time i got a reservation, my partner had steak, he said it was amazing, I had the lobster tail and it was fabulous. My favourite was Krystal, the duck was sublime. My only criticism would be that the management shut some of the restaurants for operational reasons throughout the week, usually when the hotel wasn't at capacity, so that is fair enough. I've seen criticism on the reviews to state that the pool was full of flies, and missing tiles etc. My observations were that yes there were some tiles missing, however, the pool staff were constantly cleaning and repairing the pool, Its a big pool and I never found the flies or tiles that much of an issue. The infinity pool was by far my favourite, and from what i observed there didn't appear to be as much of a problem with flies and missing tiles in there. The one thing that was an issue was wasps, the hotel staff couldn't do much about that, so anyone that was unlucky enough to be stung were promptly treated by the first aid team. The girls around the pool don't stop all day getting you drinks, such a credit to the hotel, we were spoilt by the fact you didn't even have to get off your sunbed. We didn't have much to do with the entertainment team, but from what i saw they worked exceptionally hard. The water-aerobics, volleyball and waterpolo all looked fun, and the crazy games in the afternoon were alot of fun to watch. The only shows we watched in the evenings were Michael Jackson show, which was fabulous, but the best show in my opinion was the el divo show!! The guy in the piano bar had such a lovely voice, one evening, a little girl asked him to sing let it go from frozen, and he did. the staff again in the piano bar were exceptional, never leaving you more than a few minutes with an empty glass. This brings me to my final part of my review, i had seen on here about things going missing from the rooms, particularly locked safes. I had thought perhaps people had exaggerated, unfortunately not and that pains me to say that. On the 8th day of our stay, we returned to the room, where i went to get something out of the safe, when i popped my code in the safe said closed, i was sure, 99.9% certain i had shut the safe, however on opening we discovered that $45 had been taken from my partners wallet. i went and spoke to reception, and was told i must not have shut the safe. Ok fair enough if i didn't lock it, it still didn't excuse someone opening my partners wallet and removing $45. From that point on, we religiously locked our safe and we kept our pesos/dollar cash on us, apart from £40, yes our english money in the safe. On the Thursday as we were packing to leave, i opened the safe the safe to find that the english money had now been taken. I immediately went down to the reception again, and saw the same woman as i had done the first time. She then questioned me as to who else had the code, i explained my partner, and she suggested he could have taken it, Then when i said someone had been in our safe, she accused me of being illogical. I asked to speak to the manager, i was told i could speak with her in the morning. After the first money was taken i had spoken to the TUI rep and brought it to her attention. The second time, I approached her and asked her to come and see the manager with me. We both had an initial meeting with the manager, where i explained my frustrations about the whole situation. She did suggest that there were less thefts than I was suggesting, as not every theft is brought to the hotels attention but maybe mentioned within a tripadvisor review. However, after speaking to the TUI rep and myself it became apparent that I was 1 of a possible 4 thefts to be reported to TUI in 3 days. The way i look at it is there are alot of staff within the hotel and 99% of these satff will be honest and hardworking, and most i met were a true credit to the hotel. But, that 1% who targeted my partner and I, have ensured that we will never return to the RIU Palace Pacifico, which is most upsetting, as apart from this incidence our experience would have been five star. I really hope that the hotel management are able to address this problem, as it has really let the hotel down.

My husband and i have just returned from 14 nights in this hotel , Riu Palace is great . The Riu reps were fab, staff were amazing they cannot do enough for you they never stop , rooms are very clean towels changed twice a day , We stayed in room 7029. The food was so good in all restaurants cooked perfect, only downfall was that they tend to close some restaurants when the hotel is not full which left us ,only one visit to the Steak which was our favourite i did not find this fair as we paid and booked for availability in all of them during our 14 day stay, Entertainment was great in hotel and bar staff round the bars and pool bar were so funny they definitely got you in the holiday mood , free sports are available at this , beach was a bit disappointing lots of pebbles and you can only walk so far .if you go in August you need insect spray and a little tip leave the air con on and fan in your room at all times otherwise you will be biten . weather was good on a day time but rain every night which is refreshing and lightning is a must to watch .We went on Rythms of The night Trip it was Amazing great boat trip lots of entertainment on boat , great show , food and drinks flowing .Hotel could be doing with updating . When it rained they had to block off tables in the main restaurant due to water running down the walls . Overall we had a fab holiday .

Family Holiday

My wife and I, along with 4 other family members came here for a relaxing family get-away. We weren't disappointed. Right from the start RIU reps couldn't do enough for us. We had our own private taxi to the resort. Once at the resort we were met with a cocktail and very pleasant staff. The RIU Palace is an amazing resort, clean, cool and the staff cannot do enough for you. The rooms were kept very clean and the mini bar was stocked daily. The food was outstanding. With a choice of eating at the buffet restaurant or picking from one of the other 3 speciality restaurants you would not be spoiled for choice. Everything was plentiful and cooked perfectly. The pools were kept clean and you'd never run out of somewhere to sit, although I would get your towels down early as the good spots tend to go quite quickly. The staff poolside will not let your glass stay empty for long and work their socks off running around. Special mention should go to a guy called Luis who worked mostly on the beach. Always happy to see us and most of the time we didn't even need to ask for a refill. Every time he came down to the beach he would have our order spot on. If you like water sports they have free kayaks, windsurfing, boats and body boards that you can use at anytime. They'll also run you through windsurfing and boating if you're a bit rusty. The only down side to the holiday (other than leaving) was one of our rooms kept locking our sister and partner out. Despite using both key cards, having them reset nearly everyday and multiple complaints to the desk it didn't initially get sorted very quickly. That said, it didn't really impact on the holiday that much. If you go during august, make sure you take insect spray. The little blighters love feasting at night. You can expect to see some amazing lightning shows at night as i think it pretty much rained every night we were there but again, didn't detract from the holiday at all. Make sure you do some of the excursions. Extreme adventure was brilliant, you HAVE to go to Las Caletas either during the day or go to see the amazing show at night. You wont be disappointed. Overall, the resort was amazing, the people are amazing and I would go back in a heartbeat if I could
