We had a great time at the Pacifico. The only place we ate was at the buffett and it was good. The staff at this hotel is fantastic!

I was a little disappointed my wife broke her leg there in the room and no one gave us to much help. Apple people helped with getting wheel chairs at the airport but that was all they offered. we had to rent a wheel chair on our own and the people were great helping me get around.

My issue was that Apple told me this was an Adult Only facility and it was NOT. I was very dissappointed and my reconsider using Apple again due to that. I would expect some sort of a credit due to this major mis-communication.

Our room was robbed of $900 USD within hours of checking in and the hotel assistant manager Paula Garcia Alvarez blamed us for it even though when you read the posts on FB about this specific hotel it is very clear that there is criminal operation involving staff working out of this hotel!!! DO NOT STAY HERE if you value your cash and belongings !!! For all those who have been robbed at this hotel, go to the Ministerio Publico (10 minute cab ride from the hotel) and file an "Acta Circustancial" . Do that after you contact the local police at 52 01 329 291 06 66 to report your theft . They will not investigate without video evidence but maybe if they are called out to this criminally complicit hotel enough (like we did) they will eventually open up a formal investigation. We need to look out for the next customer who will certainly be robbed here! Also, demand to speak to the Hotel Director General as Paula is probably not informing him of the pervasive crime taking place on her watch as hotel supervisor.

I arrived for my honeymoon and the hotel claimed they had no idea. So, either Apple did not bother to notify the hotel, or the hotel employees believe that recognizing our special celebration was unnecessary.

Very impressed with Apple Vacation experience with corrections made to booking, airport check in, hotel check in, etc. Rui was great expirence as well. Friendly, honest staff with good food. Left a IPhone and $200 dollar phone at restaurants and both were turned in by staff. Very impressed overall. Enjoyed this 7 day vacation!

1ST TRIP TO RIU PALACE
STEVE B.
Jun 07 2017
This was first visit to the Palace. Have stayed many times at Vallarta and Jalisco. Great hotel, impressive lobby with vaulted ceilings and crystal chandeliers. Beautiful. Front desk friendly, efficient and very accommodating. Everything in hotel is enclosed and air conditioned, personally prefer an open air lobby and hallways to experience the tropical feel, sounds, and smells of Mexico. Ala carte restaurants are a step up, had lobster one night, very good. Wide, impressive selection in buffets and staff great. One very large pool with elevated tranquility pool inside of center of big pool. Pretty cool. Bar staff great, will make anything you ask for. Vendors on beach for convenient shopping but still prefer to shop for silver with vendors at Riu Vallarta, they are wonderful. Go see Samuel or Pablo! Short cab ride to market in Bucerias for more shopping, good restaurants on the beach. Will definitely return to PVR and the Riu resorts. Always enjoyable, highly recommend. Quality and service obviously a priority with Riu. Happy gir!

Beautiful place!! Needs a couple of improvements.

We are really glad we picked this hotel!! We had one of the jacuzzi suites facing the ocean on the 7th floor. The room was absolutely beautiful. Huge walk-in closet, huge bathroom, jetted tub, separate sitting area. Only a couple of minor complaints. There should be a chest-of-drawers in the closet or in the vestibule across from the closet door. Would have been nice to have all of our clothes in the closet area. Also, the sheets are a little rough and could use an upgrade to a higher thread count. The bed was pretty firm, which is not our thing, but some might like it. The maid sometimes turns off the power after cleaning the room, which turns the A/C off. Not really a huge deal, but considering how warm it was, we wanted the room to stay cool. The pool area is nice with plenty of seating, but if you want shade or an umbrella, get down there EARLY! We went down every day at 6:30 and didn't have a problem. TIP: get pool towels the day you arrive so you can save your pool chairs the next day. The towel booth opens at 8:00 and by then all of the good spots will be gone. Service at the pool bar is pretty good, especially if you tip. Those guys work their tails off to make sure everyone has a good time. BE CAREFUL: the entire pool deck (as well as the entire hotel) is tiled and is extremely slippery when your feet or the deck is wet. I actually slipped and fell down the stairs to the beach. Luckily I just bruised my behind and my pride. :-) We thought the food was really good. There is a large variety at the buffet so if you can't find something you like, you are way too picky. Some of the meats are a little overdone from sitting under the heat lamps, but that is just me nit-picking. TIP: make friends with the servers and tip them. We were ignored the last two days we had breakfast because we didn't really do either. We were not offered coffee, water or drinks the last two days we were there. Again, this is just my experience. We could tell some of the servers had their favorite groups or couples, and we were obviously not one of them. There are a few specialty restaurants, a couple of which have a dress code. Please just follow the rules and don't be like the jerk we saw arguing for a seat wearing his shorts and muscle shirt. We liked the Italian/steak place the best. The entertainment in the show lounge was pretty good. The shows only last an hour so it is worth the time. If you order drinks at any of the bars, it is best to just go up to the bar where the bartenders are making them. We noticed the waitresses go into some back room and the drinks they bring out are not nearly as good as from the actual bar. Overall we loved this place. Great food and service. The weather was phenomenal. We will definitely return.

The good the bad and the ugly

The good - most of the staff are excellent special shout out to Carolina and Monika in the buffet restaurant the made our evenings so special and even bought me a replacement nail polish when I discovered I'd left it at home. Every evening we were greeted with smiles hugs and excellent service a real credit to the hotel. The pool waiters and waitresses work so hard in the heat and are always willing and there if you need a top up,the 2 girls are more observant than the boys but all are equally hard working and friendly. The food is amazing at the palace if you cannot find anything for your tastebuds then I would seriously think that maybe all inclusive is not for you. I have been to many Riu hotels all over the world and found the palace to be best for choice and quality. Bad - the humidity but I know there is not a lot that the hotel can do about this. The pool could do with a makeover with missing tiles and sharpe edges. If you want parasols on the beach you have to pay daily even though a few feet away are free hotel parasols your not allowed them on the beach but you are allowed the hotels free sun beds ..it didn't make sense free sun bed but you pay for the parasols?? Ugly - unfortunately I couldn't give it 5 star due to the swim up bar which I never sat at as by mid afternoon when you swam by it stank of urine I presumed people couldn't be bothered to go to the loo, this was confirmed for me one hot day as I was leaving the pool and an American guy started laughing and said very loudly to his wife that he had just pi/?ed in the pool with children diving around them they both thought this was hilarious as did his friends. This would continue each day as people who couldn't handle the alcohol would sit and drink all day without moving and basically just urinating where they sat and getting louder and more obnoxious as the day went on. I wouldn't take children here as there is a lot of big groups with the sole intention of just getting drunk for the whole holiday..a bit like us going to Blackpool for the weekend. Also the thefts are still happening after our rep assured us it was under control a lady had left her watch on the side in her bedroom and went to the first day meeting and when she returned to her room it had been stolen. After we had gone to dinner one night we returned to find our door ajar, I know we hadn't left it this way as we always checked when leaving luckily we didn't leave any cash in the room or the safe and didn't take any valuables as we had read previous reviews. Overall the staff are a credit the hotel is lovely but unfortunately some of the guests bring the standards down.

Just returned from a 2 week stay with my wife and auntie and uncle in-law, The hotel was clean and well staffed with good facilities. Watched all English football games in the sports bar, which had nacho's with hot cheese and jalapenos, tuna/ ham sandwiches. Its quite lively round the pool with music playing alot of the time, the staff at the pool bar work very hard and will make you just about anything, if you want anything making stronger just ask, i can drink and ended up drunk a good few times lol. The waiting staff are excellent esp Janet and Lucero and Jorge in the piano bar in the evening. The staff were constantly cleaning and everywhere was spotless. The food in all the restaurants was good quality and well cooked, there was 2 theme nights a week and usually a roast or bbq ribs being carved on the right of the buffet restaurant door. the only downsides are the pool was a little warm for me (but that is just me i like to cool off in it ), there are some rather loud Americans/Canadians that gets very drunk at the pool bar, no trouble just loud. my wife encountered a staff member from reception use the restroom and not wash her hands on leaving (that was the only time though), the sea is quite rough (not really the hotels fault though lol) hotel could do with some more toilets closer to each end of the pool. all in all i would recommend this hotel.

Disappointed!

We thought we would try the Pacific side of Mexico vs our favorite the Playa area. Thought the time share people where more obnoxious than in Cancun but we made it to our taxi and was at the Pacifico in a short time. Checking in went smoothly and the staff at the front desk was great. We have stayed at several of the palaces and felt the food at the Pacifico was sub par. The choices where not as varied as the other Riu Palaces. Limited seafood choices and no carving stations carving beef, chicken etc. leftover meats where put into sauces the next day. The chef could not accommodate our request for lobster and steak at the Steak House. This is the first time ever at a palace we where refused. This is all inclusive right! Our room was standard Riu room. Clean, fantastic view, refrigerator stocked and Tecate was the beer. Had trouble getting tonic for room. The main bar had everything you could dream of Beefeaters, Johnny Walker Red, Chevis, Absolute etc. They do have Bohemian light and dark under the bar, be sure to ask or you will get Dos Equis on draft. However the wine is not good. This is one area the Riu’s need to completely redo. The frozen drinks in all the bars are tasty but lack alcohol. I watched a bar maid make a Blue Coral for a young boy and make the same for me. Problem solved: I always made sure he put a shot or two of absolute into the blender. Remember you are at a Palace ask for Absolute, Beefeaters, Kailua and so forth. You don’t ask you get well drinks. The sports bar was a happening place because of its location. As all Palaces there is Champagne 24\7 but they also have Prosecco if you ask. The beach was typical hot sand. The ocean was warm . When you are used to the Caribbean side of Mexico with white sand and gorgeous blue water this was a let down however very nice. Plenty of lounge chairs by the beach and pool area with bar service. We did discover that dollars where accepted as well as pesos. We did take $100 USA. (1900pesco) for taxi and a few tips. Puerto Vallarta was about $16 US each way AND Bucerias was $4.50 US each way. We did both trips on different afternoons and would recommend both places. In Bucerias had lunch at Fat Boys on the beach. Steak and Shrimp fajitas, 4 beers and we could not finish the meal. Cost $26.00 US. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Just arrived back from two weeks in this lovely hotel. Arrived by taxi and immediately checked in with a welcome drink while the paperwork was completed. Straight to the room and the luggage was delivered a few minutes later. The room was lovely, lots of wardrobe space with plenty of coat hangers and a large chest of drawers. The room was kept very clean by the maids and we always had plenty of clean towels. The buffet restaurant was excellent and there was plenty of choice for each meal. Janet was our favourite waitress she was always very polite and efficient. We also liked the steak restaurant but didn't try the other speciality restaurants as the buffet was so good. We never had any problems with theft from the room and we didn't meet anyone who had. The safe sometimes showed an error message when you tried to lock it so I think if you are careful and ensure that it has locked before you leave the room it will be fine. The TUI reps were very helpful and we went on the Off Road tour which was great fun. The only problem we encountered was the mosquitoes, we were badly bitten and although we had taken stuff with us to prevent them biting, it didn't work and a lot of people had the same problem. Weekends were busy with lots of Mexican families around the pool and in the restaurants. There were always sunbeds available around the pool but if you wanted the ones in the best positions you had to be there before 8am. The waiters came round all day taking drink orders which great. Everywhere you went there was always someone cleaning or painting, it was pristine. We had a room on the south wing of the hotel away from the construction work on the other side of the hotel, no noise was heard either in the room by the pool either. We had a fantastic holiday and would definitely return to this hotel.
