Most of the restaurants were close so we had to eat day after day at the same buffet. Not all the food was fresh and the were insect around it The room was very small and with old design The service was nice

Room was a junior suite - while one should not be mislead by the "suite" room type name/description, the room was prefect for our needs. It was a double, double room, with a small living room area with a sleep sofa and table, and balcony. The bathroom was a full bath, with the usual amenities. The shower is in the tub. If stepping into a high bathtub is not easy for you to do, please remember to request in your comments to the hotel that you prefer a walk-in tub. The tub appears to be about 18 inches high and 8 inches deep along the side of the tub. You must be careful getting into and out of the tub to use the shower. There are grab bars in the tub/shower but the ones in my room were placed too low. On the plus side, there is an impressive line-up of complementary beverages in the wall bar and in the frig. Food - The food choices were awesome as were the variety, quality and preparation. We ate in 50% of the restaurants. Our favorite was The Peninsula Buffet restaurant. Miguel in The Peninsula Dining Room was amazing! Grounds - Magnificent; well - maintained. Wait Staff Lobby - beautiful presentation. Front desk Staff - extremely responsive, responsive. For a hotel this size, there really should be larger elevators and more bath rooms in the common areas, especially around the restaurants and pool. Aside from that, no complaints!

We arrived at the Riu Palace Pacifico after an 11 and half hour flight from the UK to be greeted with a refreshing drink and warm towel at reception which sits in the hotels huge ornate lobby. The check in process itself was welcoming & swift after which a porter took our bags up to our room. After unpacking we made our way down to the pool area to spend the rest of the afternoon there. The pool area itself is vast with plenty of sunbeds either facing the pool or the beach which itself has plenty of sunbeds on it for the hotel guests. There is also a pool bar which you can swim up to if you wish or stay lounging on your bed and a the friendly waiting staff will come around regularly to take your order. There are plenty of activities going on around the pool if you want to take part but your not pressured to if you don't want to. There are also pool toilets next to the pool which I wasn't expecting due to other reviewers stating you had to go to the ones in the lobby when you were using the pool or beach so I guess they must have missed those on their visit. Later that night we sampled the hotels restaurant's for the first time and were not disappointed as the food was delicious with a wide range of either hot or cold dishes in the Peninsula buffet restaurant. The hotel has four other a la carte restaurants as well but they don't take reservations as it is done on a first come first served basis and we found that you need to get in quite early as if you go after 8pm they usually say there's not much chance of you getting a table that night as the close earlier than the buffet restaurant. We had a junoir suite which was very spacious for the two of us with a huge bed and we got a high floor with a great sea view toward the southern end of the bay of Banderas just as we requested by email to the hotel. The room itself was cleaned twice a day , once in the daytime and once at night as part of the hotels turn down service where a nice little chocolate was left on each pillow when returning from dinner, so the rooms were spotless as was the rest of the hotel as the cleaning staff were contantly around all the hotel cleaning at all hours. All the staff were friendly and pleasant and said hello in passing. The hotel is located in the northen end of the Nuevo Vallarta end of Peuto Vallarta with not much directly around it apart from other resorts and grassland, the nearest shops are about a twenty minute walk away across a due carriageway but the hotel will ring you a taxi which can take you to other shops or in to Puerta Vallarta which wil only cost around 300 pesos and they usually are waiting near the front of the hotel. We went out and about a fair bit as there is lots to see and do if lounging in the sun all day isn't for you and Vallarta advetutes seem to be the main company for organised tours such as trips in to the mountains or sailing trips ect or you can do your own thing if you wish.We found them to be great with friendly helpful staff on the trips we went on with them. Mexicos indepence day celebrations were in force whlist we were there and the hotel celebrated this with lots of events and celebrations to mark the occasion and all guests were encouraged to join in. You can also use the facilities of the sister hotels just down the road if you wish to but we didn't as everything we required was here. We had a great stay at the Riu Palace and found nothing at all to complain about so i would highly recommend a stay here if you planning a trip to the Puerta Vallarta region and don't need to be quite so central in the town itself.

We only had a week at this Hotel but it is one of the best holidays we have ever had. It was our first time on holiday on our own for many years and we had such a lovely time. We also met some lovely people whilst we were there and everyone of all Nationalities seemed to get on really well. One thing to note was there wasn’t the usual amount of over exuberant Americans at this hotel. There were a lot of Mexicans at the hotel and they were all very nice. This wouldn’t be the hotel to go to if you’re looking for 18-30 style holiday as most people aged from around 30 -75 years of age. All of the staff, reception, Chefs, cleaners, gardeners, bar staff, the animation team, pool attendants, pool towel staff, waiters. These people are the best ever, not only at their jobs but the most genuinely caring and friendly hotel employees I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Evening entertainment very good especially Michael Jackson tribute and the Grease Show. Our room was lovely, with two double beds, loads of drawers, decent size wardrobe and very clean. The food was first class and there always was a massive choice and quality outstanding everyday. Plus they had several a la carte restaurants to choose from as well. Pool was lovely, although it could do with some general maintenance, in the jacuzzi areas of the pool probably less than half the jets were working. I would imagine in the peak time periods it wouldn’t be so easy to get yourself sun beds, and get served at the bar etc as the compared to Hotels in the Cancun area this Hotel is very small especially in the pools and grounds. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back again.
