Watersports
KURT D.
Feb 02 2019
The only negative experience I had was the outsourced watersports. I took a sailboat out the first day there and on my return, the staff pressed me very hard for tips. This resort is supposed to be all inclusive including tips. I usually tip extra anyway for excellent service but all they did was pull the boat onto the beach, really nothing special. They really got on me about tipping and since I was in my bathing suit I had no money with me. I went back to the room and brought back a tip because I wanted to make sure they would help me later in the stay, however after the experience, I never did use the watersports again.

The resort was nice, staff was great, food and drinks excellent. Only issue was serving after the sale. Great customer service while buying the package. But terrible after the sale. Left messages with return response. On hold for an hour and finally got to speak with a very rude lady.

Staff very accomidating- if you needed anything you just had to ask. The beach was beautiful - well kept and maintained. Would like to hear a little music in background while on beach though. I like having a special drink everyday - needvto add this to their bar menue. All in All it’s a gorgeous place! We were taken well care of- the weather was beautiful - water was beautiful-

Staff and accommodations were great. The beach had a ton of seaweed so, not so good. Entertainment should start earlier in the evening, such as 7:30 or 8:00. Food wasn't the greatest.

Hotel staff was amazing. Everyone we interacted with was very friendly, treated us like family. We spent my wife's birthday there and not only did she get a cake but a small gift from the hotel. Staff sang happy birthday to her a couple time through out the day. We loved this hotel and will highly recommend it to family and friends.

We went to PC about 3 years ago and weren't impressed with the resort (NOT a RIU resort). We loved the RIU Palace Macao. Adults only. Service was excellent. Food is consistent with the other RIU properties we've stayed at. There was a lot of seaweed on the beach but that's not something that the resort can control. They tried to keep it as clean as possible. I would strongly recommend avoiding rooms 3080 to 3099. These are near the service areas and the route they take the service carts around. Can be a bit noisey early in the morning and late evening when they take the carts back and forth. I'd recommend you go here!

When we booked with Apple the representative encourage us to up grade from RIU Republica to RIU Macao due to having access to the other RIU resorts next to us. After arriving we found out this was not completely true. We walked to the RIU resort next door just to check it out and was told we had to have a invite when we were looking at their food. When we went back to have a massage we had time to kill and went into the sports bar and was told they were not allowed to serve us due to us not staying at their resort. Had we known this before we would of saved money and stayed at RIU Republica. We were not told correct information.

Great time at the RIU Palace Macau with travel group of friends. Very clean resort, adults only, accommodating, friendly staff, smaller and easy to navigate. Beautiful and clean beach area. Plenty of chairs and space to relax around 3 pools and the ocean. Nightly entertainment. Nice patio area to gather around after dinner and meet with friends. Nice selection of eating choices a buffet restaurant and 4 al a carte options.

Just spent 2 weeks at this resort and can’t complain about the resort at all. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, the food was amazing especially in the buffet restaurant, such an amazing variety of food that you can spend two weeks and not eat the same meal twice. We had dinner in the steak restaurant which served big well cooked steaks that were also amazing, we didn’t eat in the others as the buffet had everything you required. The room was lovely and we was in the back of the hotel which was very quiet, the sea view rooms though nice would be quite noisy as they overlook the show areas and the noisy pools etc so a rear room was a bonus, lots of privacy on the balcony which you would not get from the sea view rooms. The pools were lovely but avoid the swim up pool, lots of noisy Americans getting drunk all day and some didn’t even leave the pool, so you can guess where they took their toilet breaks, inc spilt alcohol, I would stay well away and out of that pool as it looked like that people were swimming around in their own pee all day! The beach is lovely and there are plenty of sun beds around for your towels which the hotel supplies daily so no need to take your own, lots of beach sellers but just say no or ignore them and they leave you alone, don’t get pics with the guys carrying monkeys, lizards and parrots around all day in the hot sun, it’s cruel and these people should not make money off of these poor animals, some people were getting pics with them which was disgusting and they should be ashamed! The waiters visit the beach every so often and bring you drinks so please make sure you tip them, we tipped all the time including the room maids and drinks man along with all the staff, a couple of dollars makes a difference so look after them please. Apart from the noisy Americans and Canadians the hotel though a big resort was a lovely place, thee is an animation team that are there to entertain everyone but I’m not sure why as most people seemed to entertain themselves and this is an adults only hotel so why they need them I am not sure? The encouraged the guests to play volleyball, bingo, water aerobics and stretching etc, maybe just to get the lazy off the sun beds??.... Anyhow.. a great hotel with very attentive staff and lovely food, walk along the beach as further up and down the beach you will find more amazing beaches and swimming areas, turquoise sea and very warm, can be choppy but that’s because it’s the Atlantic Ocean, but some parts are enclosed and very still so walk along and enjoy a swim. A really nice hotel and great value with beautiful beaches and very hot so sun screen is a must, now stop reading and go book, you will love it here!

Exceeded Expectations

We stayed at the RIu Palace Macao for10 days - January running into February 2019. Overall we were very pleased with the hotel and it certainly exceeded expectations. Good points about the hotel :- - Fantastic Location - the beach is beautiful and you have a choice during the day of staying near the pool or siiting under a palm tree on the beach - Fantastic staff - as stated in many reviews, the staff with very few exceptions are excellent and really understand the meaning of good customer service. Although we did tip, particularly to the guys who brought us drinks on the beach, you never felt pressurized to do so. - All Inclusive package was probably one of the best we have ever experienced. The buffet at breakfast, lunch and dinner was consistently of a high standard and if anything there was too much choice. The quality of food and service in the a la carte restaurants was also very good. Drinks were easy to obtain - you either went to the bar or a waiter would take your order and serve you very quickly Entertainment was good - the staff involved worked very hard but there was no pressure to get involved. We particularly enjoyed all the evening shows Rooms were excellent - we had a limited sea view room - it was a good size and immaculate. We were also impressed with the dispensers containing gin, brandy, rum and vodka. Possible areas for improvement - - the reserving of sun beds. Although the hotel handbook says that reserving of sun beds is not allowed that is totally ignored. What makes it worse is that the staff are also involved in reserving beds for favoured guests ( possibly incentivized by tips) The result is that when you go to the pool about 9.30, you see dozens of sun beds with just blue towels on them and often that’s how they stay for the rest of the morning. Lots of hotels in Europe and the Far East have stopped the practice by regularly removing towels - it would be great if the Macao did the same. - although the standard of food and service was very good in the a la cate restaurants, there was often chaos when trying to get a table - this was true in all but the steak restaurant. There seemed a reluctance to use the buzzers and there was confusion as to what tables were available and when. - although drinks were fine particularly the cocktails and coffees . I have some doubts about the branded drinks. The dispenser in the room said it contained Gordon’s drink - I am certain it was not. Equally in the bar, there were bottles labeled Jim Bean - again, whatever it was, it wasn’t Jim Bean. These are just areas where I feel the hotel can improve and would certainly not put me off returning. Indeed we hope to come back next January and look forward to all the Macao can offer and hopefully no reserved sun beds

Very dissapointed in Customer Care

A group of 11 people travelled to Riu Macao, Punta Cana in Feb. Three of us had to share a room, we had requested three beds and a separate private toilet as 1 of us was a colon cancer survivor. As there were 3 of us in one room, we had already paid triple what the others in the group had paid, there was no discount to put three people in a room. We ended up in a room with two single beds and a separate toilet. The front desk staff told us that to get a room with three beds it would cost an extra $1050 US funds. They would not put a cot in the room, despite our begging and assuring there was enough room. I was shocked, this is not what I would expect from a Riu hotel. We switched around at night so that one of us got a good night sleep while the other two were crowded together in a single bed. It was very disappointing. I can not recommend this hotel. I really expected more from a Riu Resort.
