My main concern is for those of us who donít speak spanish. When you have approximately 85 to 90% of the people visiting your hotel are English speaking. My point is is when you try asking any hotel personnel a question and they canít answer you because they donít know English, it is very frustrating. I have never been to a hotel in Mexico where the employees didnít know some sort of English. Other than that we had a great time!!!

Excellent Cabo Honeymoon!

Our honeymoon was unbelievable. Cabo is gorgeous in the October month. We had 93 degree days with one day with a couple clouds (literally, a couple clouds). Our hotel was nearly perfect. My sister and brother in law along with my mom and dad will both be visiting this location due to our amazing time/ pictures. THANK YOU!

Detail on Airport Transfer
CESAR L.
Oct 29 2017
You to clarify that there is a complete section in the SJD to bypass, because of Time Share Sales. They act as the Airport Transfer agents. That was a waste of time. At least 30 minutes. Otherwise, your disclosure and service would be perfect.

Upgrade to RIU Palace. Turned into a lucky break
SALLY M.
Sep 27 2017
I was originally booked in the RIU Santa Fe but it was damaged by Tropical Storm Lidia so I was upgraded to the RIU Palace. I can't really compare the two since I hadn't stayed at either before, but from talking to other people, the RIU Palace is much superior. I had no trouble getting into the specialty restaurants without a reservation, if I was willing to wait just a bit and be flexible. Food in both the buffet and the other restaurants were better than expected, and service by the pool, in the room and around the resort was excellent. I'd definitely go back there.

Tropical Storm Lidia Ruins the Riu
MICHAEL G.
Sep 11 2017
Tropical Storm Lidia wreaked havoc on the infrastructure of this resort and in turn our vacation. We had to call our trip short after just 2.5 days. It was particularly frustrating to see the lack of preparation and ability to handle the inclement weather which resulted in a significant loss of power/running water. We were basically trapped at the resort with few alternatives offered until we decided to book the first available flight back to the U.S. (which cost our whole group more money since it wasn't part of our original itinerary). The horrendous living conditions. poor communication from Apple and Riu staff, and general lack of preparation for a situation such as this really left a sour taste in our entire group's mouth. I understand that weather events such as this can be unpredictable, but I would certainly have anticipated and hoped for a better handling of the situation in the storm's aftermath. The experience was really the complete opposite of what we signed up for when we booked our trip back in March.

All in all it was a wonderful and different vacation. It would have been nice if the staff would have spoken "more" English, since most their guests were American! Some staff were rude, but "most" were very nice and attentive!

Good restaurants and food selection. But late night food is lacking. Make more cold cut sandwiches or have a couple other options. Other than lack of late night food, they did a great job.

The resort itself was beautiful, the room was clean and comfortable, the service was good, and the food and drinks were excellent. Unfortunately I would not recommend this resort to anyone after 3 people we were vacationing with had items stolen out of their room. One person had a watch stolen out of their bag in their room, another had $300 stolen out of their bag in their room, and another had $400 stolen out of their room safe. The incidents were reported to management who did nothing to resolve the issue. They denied the fact that staff had stole anything even though they were the only people who had access to the room.

Restaurants and Food Not as Good Since Renovation
Muldercat, London, Canada

This is our 12th time to this resort. It went through a major renovation. Rooms are nicer, especially the bathrooms. I was very excited that they had moved the main buffet to the front of the resort where you could see the ocean. But.....I was disappointed. The old main buffet dining room was Grand. Huge and beautiful. The old buffet was enormous, with hundreds of food items to choose from. There was always beautiful displays of food, ice sculptures etc. It was elegant. The new buffet is about 1/3 of the size of the old one. The room feels like a cafeteria. Everything else about the resort is 5 star, but when the food isn't.......well, it's just disappointing.

Vacation get away.

If you saw the pictures I posted you would know why we come and stay here. Our son got married here in 2009 and we have come back every year. From the cruise ships to the turtles laying their eggs the view from the pool can not be beat. This year our view from room 3019 was unbelievable. Try it you will probably like it.

The staying in the hotel Riu was very pleasant and enjoyable for us. We liked the location very much. The service people everywhere were very nice and polite. We liked the breakfast very much. The main problem we faced was the lack of air condition in the rooms. This has made our night sleep almost unbearable!

OK. But I'm not going back

All in all, it was ok. I have been to several all inclusive resorts and the Rui Palace in Cabo was average. The meals in all the restaurants were avg. or just above. Not spectacular. Where I really got confused and put off was in the consistency of some of the rules. !st, one afternoon we went to the buffet for a snack. Fresh chips and Guacamole and Pico. Yum! We walked up two flights of stairs to the lobby bar, asked if it was ok to eat with our drinks. We were told "sure" as long as you sit at a table. So we did. Next day we did the same thing, only to be told we couldn't bring food in? And they don't serve food in the bar?? Not Happy! Next thing is the "dress code" for the restaurants! So they say?? Most all of them tell you men need shirts with sleeves. No problem! It's 87 degrees out, But then they say long "trousers" so I show up to the Japanese restaurant with long pants. Every guy in there is in tailored shorts! I was "hot!" Literally and figuratively. The next day we planned dinner at the the "steak house" I stopped by earlier, asked the host about long pants, he said "no shorts are fine, only at Krystal fusion restaurant do you need long pants" . Fine. Shorts are good at the steak house that night. The next night we attend the Fusion restaurant. I walk in the door and see a guy in front of me in regular shorts! UGH!!! I ask the host, shorts or no shorts?? He says "shorts are fine"??? So nowhere do you need pants I guess. But they had just opened and were full for an hour!! Just enough time to go change and have a drink. Too bad you can't make reservations anywhere!! Another word of advice, even though it's "all inclusive" if you want better than avg. drinks from any of the bartenders, take tip money, it goes a long way and you will be catered too much more. Also, We reserved a King bed. They don't have a King, they put two doubles together?? ODD. And when we reserved our room through our travel agent, it said we were elegible for an upgrade. Naturally it wasn't available. So we asked at check in. Still not available?? So I felt a little bit of "bait and switch"?? Have fun!

Beautiful sunrise!

Nice room, but a bit on the small side. We opted for the ocean view, which provided a nice balcony overlooking the pool area with a nice ocean view as well. The dining situation is a bit tricky though. While they always have a buffet somewhere, which was quite good with a ton of options, getting into the main restaurants are a bit tricky. Nobody except the front desk knew which restaurant was open which night. (steakhouse, Chinese, Italian) And, making reservations involved going to the restaurant and basically signing in. Nice property overall though and well kept grounds.
