It was okay
SIERRA B.

The views at this resort were awesome. Didn't care for the service that much. Although we came across SOME friendly staff, the majority of them just stared at us and made us speak first no matter where we were, bar, restaurant, front desk, etc. On a scale of 1-10 I would give the food a 4. The maid came to our room several times a day which was okay. Wish there were more daily activities at this resort. We had to walk over to the RIU Santa Fe resort for all of the entertainment which was a bit tiring sometimes because of the long flight of stairs. The main thing I didn't like is that it was hard for us to just lay back and relax on the beach because they allow people to come up on the property and attempt to sell whatever it is they desire. We were offered everything from massages to DRUGS...seriously? When we stayed in other areas of Mexico, this was NOT allowed. There were not trespassers at all. We didn't want to close our eyes while laying out on the beach because we were too scared someone would take our things! Nice resort but I more than likely would never stay there again.

In spite of having to miss our connecting flight and missing the first day of our vacation, we enjoyed the days we did have. The place is kept spotlessly clean, people are cleaning all of the time. The food at the buffet is extremely good. Everyone of the staff her was friendly and nice to us. Service was outstanding. Never felt ill at ease here about anything at all. Loved it and hope to return.

Loved the hotel and the area. The Scenery was amazing and we loved the pool and the bar. The food was simply acceptable at best. Nothing tasted like it had been made that day, but rather had been warmed up in a sub-par microwave. Otherwise we had a great experience.

We had an ocean view room and the view was gorgeous but we were above the activity pool and the entertainment locale and it was way too noisy. We asked to move and they couldn’t accommodate us. The worst part was after returning home, all of our belongings smell like mildew, even including my makeup brushes and purses just from being in the hotel.

Great stay!
Dustin T,
Wed May 23 10:33:46 EDT 2018
Myself and three friends just returned from a 4 night stay at the Riu Palace Los Cabos and I can say we couldn’t have enjoyed our stay better. I remember before leaving I searched everyone online to find out information about the resort so I turned to TripAdvisor to help. Here are my advices if you are planning a trip here and have questions like I did. 1) when arriving at the camp airport, walk strait the entire way all the way through customs and straight outside, don’t engage eye contact with the travel sharks that are In the airport. If you booked your transfer to the resort, there is a guy outside by the numerous lines (to the right of a bar) that is holding a sign that says “destination services”. The ride to the resort is about 40 mins. 2) your room will not be ready till 3pm as advertised, but still get the earliest flight in. Pack yourself a suit and pool wear in your carry on. A bellman will take your luggage and the resort has changing rooms for you to be able to enjoy the resort while waiting for your room, and your bags will meet you there. 3) the resort is huge, I say complaints about the amount of stairs and that the elevators are a waste of time. We had no problem using the elevators. The resort is set up where there are pools on either side and swim up bar. Music is always playing. Pick a spot and wait for your drink, or go to the bartender. 4) I also saw where someone complained about the drinks. It’s all inclusive guys, if you find the drinks weak, ask for a double... they can make pretty much anything you can throw at them. 5) tipping: cabo is a tourist town and most make money based on tips. Don’t be surprised if you tip and the person looks at you with a “that’s it” look. If you tip well at the beginning to the cabana boys, they will come back more often, we just walked to the bar and tipped the bartender, rather than wait 80% of the time. 6) Squid roe: although a fun bar, we learned a lot here one night. When u step out your cab, don’t! I repeat don’t! Let the guy sit you. He will ask how many in your party and tell you that he won’t charge you for a table. The price for the table he sits you at is one bottle of liquor...$170! Just say you will walk around, that you don’t need a table, there is standing room everywhere with some areas to sit. 7) taxis are $14 regardless where you go! 8) there are ways to save on excursions by going to the dock and trying to “deal” with the people, but I found that it’s not that much cheaper for what you have to deal with. If you are already near the marina, I say try. But if you want to plan a trip the next day, don’t pay a deposit, you will be scammed. We were scammed of a $60 deposit. Book through the resort, there are numerous agents sitting in the theater that you can talk to. All offer transportation to and from the resort... ($28 taxi back and forth remember). 9) the resort has entertainment every night, from dancers to music, to shows. Plenty to do. They also have pool parties at the neighbor resort the Santa Fe. This was my favorite part. Friday, they have a pink pool party. Saturday’s they have a neon pool party with dj, so bring something neon. And mondays they have a jungle pool party, bring that camo! 10) the food: the food in the buffets are bland, as most people say, but we never starved. There is plenty of choose from that will satisfy you. I found that the speciality restaurants had better food because they were cooked to order. 11) the only complaint I have about the riu palace is that mostly everything stops around midnight. No bars open! The Santa Fe has a club open till 2-3am that has music and dancing. The 24 inclusive only applies to a room on the 3rd floor that had burgers, hot dogs, dessert, and nachos, were were pleased with that for a late night snack. Also the room service does not have a large menu.... clubs, sandwiches, nachos, and dessert. 12) if you are contemplating what resort to stay at, palace or Santa Fe, (because we were) this may help: the palace is mostly older and newlywed, it’s classy. Things stop at midnight, nothing wild and crazy, very few kids, luxury, less people. The Santa Fe, more kids, younger crowd, party scene, less luxury, more crowded. Hope this helps! You really can’t go wrong with either, depends on what you want out of your stay here.

Beautiful Views & Clean...Terrible food & Service!

When my friend and I arrived to this resort, it was absolutely beautiful. We were given a mediocre greeting by the staff but hey, we were just excited to be there so we didn't pay our first encounter with the staff any mind. Check-in went smooth, our room was nice and clean for the most part when we arrived. The biggest thing I hated about the room was that the TV was all the way over in the seating area and not closer to where the beds were. Also, the majority of the channels provided were in Spanish, maybe 2-3 channels were in English so we literally watched NO television the whole time...should've brought our streaming device for late night movies or something but oh well. The pool areas were nice. One thing we noticed is that this resort didn't have servers around the pool & beach area like some of the other resorts we've stayed. MAYBE they do have them but they were nowhere around during our visit. We had to walk over to the bar whenever we wanted a drink which got kind of annoying. As for the service we received from the bartenders...not the best along with the drinks we were served. Tried different drinks to see if some may have tasted better than others...Not so much. As for the food, is was just flat out terrible. I'm sorry. It was a little under lukewarm which I consider COLD. Somehow, the food would be under warmers and we would even see a little steam, but oddly the food would be nowhere near hot or warm even! Not only that, the food just didn't taste that great. Each day, I ate the same 3 things that tasted okay. Over at the Sante Fe resort , there is a man that comes out with his taco station every evening. His food was the only HOT and GOOD food there and he also provided great service. Last thing I will speak on is the customer service we received. Although we didn't get bad service from EVERYONE, there was a good majority versus minority. Whenever we would approach any staff whether it was at a restaurant, store, bar, etc., they just stared at us and made us speak first. There was no "Hola" or "Hi, how may I help you?". Most just gave us a "What do you want" type of look and when we would let them know the service we were requesting, they gave absolutely no response afterwards. Because we were taught to still have manners, we would still say "Thank you"....Example: A waiter asked my friend and I "What do you want to drink?" (in an unfriendly way I must add), after we told her, she just left our table to get our drinks with no response. We were left there in shock. You would think that maybe WE were the rude ones based on the service we received but we were always the pleasant ones throughout our entire stay and tipped regardless. In my opinion, this was one of the worst parts of our stay. When you spend good money for something, you expect good service. You shouldn't feel like you're bothering someone every time you ask a question. There's no excuse for that.

Not a single complaint

the facilities were beautiful, and the staff was so friendly! We had amazing service and food on this trip and I cannot recommend it enough!! We stayed only 3 nights but wish we could have stayed longer! This was a great resort for young couples or friends going on a get-away. Always something to do.

Great View and Food for Two Days... Boring, Repetitive, and Drugstore-Infested
524luzg, Portland, Oregon, United States
Tue May 22 12:33:55 EDT 2018
This place was very misleading, it seemed to be much better in the ads than it really was. I have used Riu a few times in Cancun and the Riviera Maya and these were never disappointing. I would not go back to Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas however (or Riu properties for that matter). Here's why: The beach was so dirty and disgusting because they exploit the use of horses for patrons to ride; they have those poor animals standing there in the sun all day and it was really sad. The horses urinate and defecate right there a few feet from the hotel's cabanas and they not always clean after them. They also have all these tours dedicated to the exploitation of marine life that is also very sad; and there's really nothing to see other than the great rock formation because there is really no downtown to this place, so no local mercado for example or cathedral. It seems very artificial and there is a lot of crime going on underneath the surface, I noticed prostitutes in the hotel that were there intermittently and if you take a walk downtown you will be astonished as to the number of drugstores; seriously a ridiculous amount, like three or four on every block. You may not walk more than 15 feet without hitting one of these. There is an illegal sale of all kinds of opioids that are illegal in the U.S. (supposedly also in Mexico) unless you have a prescription, in Cabo they will ask for anywhere between $50-$90 for generic opioids; when they see you walking down the street, they'll ask you what you need and pull you in, then the whole game begins. The food in the hotel was great for a couple of days but then it gets very boring, and also be ready to not only tip but be shamed for not doing it; and, do not get me wrong you all know that I am a champion for tipping, especially the women who are usually behind the scenes, but here it is taken to a whole new level. When I travel to all inclusive hotels I make a tip budget to make sure I tip personnel everyday, I told this to my colleague who was traveling with me and we made a tip-pool. Then, we were able to select our own seating and tip whoever we wanted rather than being 'seated' and forced to tip only some and not others. The room was nothing spectacular, and they were very deceiving because I thought I paid for a room with an ocean view but it turns out I paid for a 'partial' ocean view, which meant I had to poke out my head to look out and see the spectacular view. I would not go back to this place, it is kind of eerie, and do not make the mistake of ever booking in their sister property that is slightly cheaper, it is horrible and I mean horrible! the parties, the drunk people puking in the pools while the urinate by the pool bar, Oh my gosh, it was a horrible place to be and we could not find our place out of there and back to our own kind of little paradise/hell. I will not go back here ever again, and I think I am not going to book with Riu either, I have had enough of their 'mafia-like' run properties.

GREAT PLACE!!
