Our stay at the Rui Palace Cabo San Lucas was wonderful. My husband and I decided to take off after a family loss to recoupe. We always stay at our favorite resort the Riu Emerald Bay, which was unavailable for our timeframe. We actually had heard some wonderful comments about the Riu Palace at our stays in Mazatlan. We have to say, that the hotels grounds, pools and views are stunning. The 2 infinity pools were just beautiful. Our first room was okay, a bit musty but well laid out. We were upgraded to a ocean view Jr suite.. It was really nice.. We enjoyed watching the sunrise and the cruise ships entering the port, the sea is always so amazing. There were whales a couple of times and dolphins in the bay. Amazing to see. The main buffet was great! Lots of choices, particularly enjoyed the seafood and deserts. Staff for the most part was very courteous, but one thing we did notice was the missing smiles. Very efficient, but lacking the warmest were are used to. Tipping helped. The The Ala Cartes were really good. The food was amazing. Lots of variety and quantity. Presentation was quite nice. Lunch at the Terrance Mars de Cortes, was great for lunch. Loved the chicken and shrimp! It was a lovely open air restaurant and the Steak house in the evening. It was also very good. Misaki the food was amazing..the ambiance not as good. It was really loud. Sound was amplified and when a few more excited guest were there. It at times was hard to hear each other. Could be more intimate. But the food was incredible. Drinks were yummy, Housekeeping was good. The one dissappointment was that we really had to be careful about swimming in the ocean. It is not recommended at all with the undertow. I, even as an excellant swimmer was very cautious. I did venture in a few times and once passed the steep incline and undertow enjoyed floating. It is serene once in. I have to say it is really, really beautiful both the hotel and the scenic beauty of the area from the water. If you want to swim it is wise to bus, taxi or walk ( a bit of a way) to the beaches towards town. Very nice. I am a beach person and a swimmer so the beach and access to the ocean was the only issue l can say l have. I did not know this until l was there. I adapted quite well... The pools were so so lovely. Cabo is an interesting area..unique geography with a desert look and feel and against the sea, the colours and terrains is awe inspiring. We enjoyed our visit and I really want to Thank a few people who made our stay even more wonderful. We were going thru a difficult time and the kindness were just amazing. Julia Jaschke - Riu Majorca. Spain Such a wonderful wonderful surprise!!! A special thank you! Erica Rangel - Riu Mazatlan. Always looking after us. Another special thank you. A gracious thank you to Marta Perales,- Sub Director who was so attentive and generous. She looked after us with such care and made our difficult time so less stressful. A sweetheart. An asset to Riu and The Palace. Victor. Sub Director - funny and also attentive. A gentleman! Also very helpful and kind. Yvonne - General Manager We so appreciate for also arranging with Julia the upgrade to the Palace that made our get away so wonderful. Finally was able to meet her.. Charming and very helpful. Thank you! We would definitely return to the Hotel and recommend it highly. One more note. There is a schedule renovation scheduled for the fall. It will be hard to improve on a lot of the hotel, and hopefully they stay with the current feel of the hotel and not a boutique style. It has such beauty and charm even as it is. Enjoy this beautiful hotel! More>

Good for a wild trip!

We traveled here for my brother's 21st birthday, and the Riu served its purpose for a wild trip like that! The food (as with many all inclusives) leaves much to be desired, but it was better than some I've been to in the past. We tolerated it for daytime meals and then usually went out to dinner. The rooms are clean and the grounds are beautiful. The staff is great and friendly too. The Riu Palace is pretty mellow so we went next door to the Riu Santa Fe for more of a pool party type of feel, but it was nice to stay next door and be able to get away from that scene when we wanted. The location is great, it's a short can ride from the clubs downtown. The only drawback is that you can't swim on this beach. There are huge waves that crash right on the shore and can easily injure anyone who is not very experienced with ocean swimming. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place for any type of group trip where everyone wants to let loose and party and drink for free all day. However, my husband and I probably wouldn't stay here without a group, we would look for somewhere a bit more upscale with better food for sure. Like I said, it served its purpose and I have no complaints! More>

Wonderful Stay!

We had a wonderful stay at the Riu Palace. The staff, ambience, food and location were superb. The food, in fact, was among the best we've had at an all-inclusive. The views were breath-taking. The beach and ocean view were beautiful, with powerful waves crashing into shore. However, there is no swimming in front of the Riu and the beach is difficult to walk or run as other reviewers have warned. More>

Girls Trip 2016

My best friend and I stayed June 25th - June 30th. The resort was very beautiful and clean. Everywhere you walked someone was cleaning. The pools were very beautiful and the pool bar was our favorite, Breakfast and lunch was excellent with lots of options but dinners were just ok. Could definitely use some improvement. The shows were not bad, but we really enjoyed the Michael Jackson performance. The only bad thing I would say is that although they had a club, it did not open until 11:00 pm and there was not really much to do once the show ended. Even though they had a band, they did not play very good music that would keep you out long enough until the club opened. Very nice resort to relax but not much of an after hours party scene. Overall we really enjoyed it here. The Foxy Ladies from New Jersey More>

We stayed in this resort for a week had 4 rooms . Not happy with out stay at all . We had to change rooms 3 times . We had ocean view rooms , but all u could see was a water fountain , the rooms were located in the back of the hotel , when I complained they said as long as you go to terrace and can pull ur neck to the extend that you can see some blue water is ocean view . Ha! What if I have arthritis ?! Anyway they changed our rooms 3 times . My kids room was way far and the second night finally we all were next to each other . The bathroom flush is not working( we are still here and ready to check out) , we have to remove the lid every time to fix the flush . The front desk people not so friendly . Our rooms cards would stop working and had to get them fixed 4 times ! My parents got sick here and I asked for one hr late check out and they said u have to pay $50 . The employees are nice and polite , but this comes from the management ! Its a waste of money to spend in Cabo specially in this hotel . This was my first and last time here and would never comeback ! I wont recommend this hotel to anyone . More>
