Amazing time at the Palace. Treated like royalty!

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Place around the end of 2014 just after the hurricane hit the area. We were concerned for the shape of the area as many were not visiting for this reason. You wouldn't even think the area went through such devastation. The only downfall was that some bars/clubs were closed because it was so quite and some renovations. The city was great, so much to do in Los Cabos, so much fun, lots of nightlife compared to some Caribbean spots we've been too. As for the Riu Palace, this was the first time we been to a Place and absolutely love them! The Riu's are our go to resort for anywhere. The resort itself is stunning with a ton to do and explore. Bigger than most hotels so you should take that into consideration but for how big it is, so easy to get around to everything quickly. The view of the rocks from the hotel is amazing! You feel like your in a dream when walking around or enjoying yourself here, it looks unreal! Rooms are great, food is great you have everything you need. 24/7 room service with some great choices. We did almost every night it was so good and helpful after we went out for the evening in town. There is nothing they won't do for you. The service is top notch. I always talk about how the Palaces are not like a regular all inclusive resort. All the staff are smiling, looking professional, and willing to assist you before you even ask. No matter where you go on the resort even the beach, there is a server there asking you for your drink and bringing it to you quick. That is not the norm at most resorts and it's great. Premium liquors for drinks, everything is a bit of an upgrade then most all inclusive. If you haven't been to a palace then this is definitely something to try. Beach is a little tough on the feet but it's breathtaking out there. Ocean water is great to swim in just need to be careful. Will be back here one day soon! More>

Great resort overall!

My friends and I went in a group of 10 people total and we had such a blast here! The staff was very accommodating and our rooms were great/clean. The resort has 4 pools--2 large ones and 2 smaller ones with bars. We liked that one side had a 'party vibe' with younger people and music, while the other side was more chill. The food was mediocre but what can you expect from an all inclusive. The drinks were definitely watered down, so I recommend ordering at the bar so you can watch them pour the drinks. Other then that my only complaint is that the tiling at the bottom of the pools were dirty/old. You could tell because the cement between the tiles were black--a no go for me! BUT they are going through a huge renovation now, so maybe they will clean the pool floor. More>

I love this Resort. We had a great time... this place was very clean. Every time you turn around somebody was cleaning. They have great entertainment and the food was really good. I definitely recommend this Resort. We had so much fun we extended our stay. More>

Rude front desk staff...they kept my wallet

I requested a quiet area & I was placed right on top of their night club! They denied a room change and then when I complained over and over, they offered a downgraded room but wouldn't give a credit for the downgrade because according to them, they were "fixing" the problem. Yes they were offering to move me but to a smaller room with no view! Therefore,I was asking for a credit...which I never received. After all of this, front desk was rude the ENITRE stay! When we checked out, we left our wallet behind. They denied they had it...a week or so later, they did admitted having the wallet. Now they won't reply to my emails to have my stuff mailed back to me...by the way, they want to mail it for a ridiculously high amount! AND TO TOP IT ALL OF, we had ants on our towels and because we put the towels on the bed without realizing it, we had ants in our bed! More>

Before the remodel

We stayed the final week before they were closing for 3 months. We had no idea when we booked that was happening. We arrived on a Saturday and the resort became more empty each day. Which was great for snagging a good pool chair but they did not open the restaurants on regular schedule. We have stayed at Riu Palace Cancun and it was much nicer, top shelf liquor, beautiful restaurants, etc. But enjoying all the restaurants could not be done as they didn't open them! This is not a resort you can actually get in the ocean because the waves are huge. The bathrooms were too far from the pool and they were not cleaned on a regular schedule. Actually EVERY public restroom I used was in need of fresh air and someone to pick it up. I do want to recognize the staff we did interact with. The pool bartenders, lobby bar waiters, and some of the buffet waiters were nothing but positive about their upcoming 3 months off with no pay. Good people working here but management was poor. As we were checking out we asked if there was any incentives to come back after the remodel because we felt like we were shorted and she said no why would we do that? More>
