Very nice I want to go back!

The Riu Palace in Cabo was better than I expected, it was Excellent! All-inclusive, I would do it again in a heartbeat. The resort was very clean. You saw the worker were always cleaning. All the employees were very hospitable. Everyone spoke to you, whether it was a the hotel receptionist, the maid, the food server, the towel person, the pool activity person, everyone. they made you feel special. The food was awesome! I ate lobster 3 days in a row, yummy!!! and i probably gained 10 lbs too.. There is nightly entertainment that was alway fun to watch. We traveled there with Pleasant Holidays. Our Pleasant Holiday conceiare/guide from Terraman, Roberto Alvarez was very helpful. He arrangement a couple of tours for us. 1. we did the taste of Cabo and San Jose tour. it include a glass bottom boat ride to the Arch, a mall trip in the marina where we tasted different tequilas and shopped a little, visit Glass blowing factory, a lunch at a Mexican Restaurant in the San Jose area, went to a Mission in San Jose, walked around and shopped. while riding in the van the guide gave us some history of the areas as we passed by. This was very cool. the 2. tour we wanted to go to Lover's beach and swim for a hour. Roberto arrange for us to do that too. The was AWESOME!.. We even took the city bus on our own for $1 and went to town/Cado and shopped around.. all in all our vacation was EXCELLENT!! Riu Palace is the place! btw, our room was on the 4th floor. We had a great view of the ocean and the rock formation. Just loved it!. More>

I give this resort 5 stars all the way! I was a little nervous when reading the reviews but this resort was fantastic! Beautiful grounds and pool and sooo clean. The rooms do not smell as mentioned in other reviews. This was our first vacation away without kids so we were looking for a quiet, relaxing stay which is exactly what we got. We didn't upgrade to Oceanview but actually got a room with a partial Oceanview which was awesome. The entertainment staff was great and all the servers were fantastic. We will definitely be back! For being my first time at an "all inclusive" resort, I loved everything about it! From the very comfortable room, great meals and never ending beverages. Eventhough I'm not a "water" person, I also enjoyed the pools and beach access. Very relaxing which is what I want. More>

It was okay but won't stay again

The Riu was nice but I won't stay there again. If you only plan on laying/drinking on the beach or at the pool then it's fine. If you want to jet ski, snorkel, go on any tours or go to town stay closer to downtown/marina. The hotel has a station that provide services like snorkeling but they have to transport you to a different area first. Pros: Beautiful hotel, nice grounds, maids made up rooms nicely each day and left flowers and towels folded like swans, pool was quiet, gym with beach view, friendly staff, nightly shows, hairdryer in room. Cons: Uncomfortable bed, very loud hallways (no sleep one night, early mornings, carts, hammering), few tv channels, pool closes at 7pm, pool bar shuts down early (4ish) if they have a private event to set up (happened twice), LOTS of stairs, you cannot swim in the ocean because it's too rough (a mile down it's calm), buffet food isn't very good (except breakfast and dessert), furthest resort from downtown....$14 one way taxi ride to town or a 2 mile beach walk, after nightly shows La Pacha (discoteca at hotel) doesn't open until 11 so there's a 90 min to 2 hour wait to do nothing, cab ride or private car to/from airport is at least $60 one way. Prices: Snorkeling at Pelican Rock through the RIU $39/person (includes gear, shuttle, boat ride and guide). We went with Marie and she was super nice and informative! Jetski through the RIU $65 for 30 minutes (jetskis are not on site). We rented one on our own in the same area where they shuttle you for $40 for 30 minutes. Whale watching through the RIU (Dec - March I think) $60/person Massages on the beach $120 for an hour for 2 people. $80 for 30 min for 2 people. We walked to Eden's down the beach and got a 70 min massage for $30/person plus tip. More>

This resort was FANTASTIC, especially when it comes to all-inclusive options. Everything was very clean. You never saw employees goofing off or acting bored. Everyone that worked there was amazingly friendly and helpful. I have to shout out the pool wait staff - they kept those frozen drinks coming as we lounged all day long. What surprised me the most was the food - for such a large resort, the food was across the board fantastic and fresh. Never a bad meal! We will certainly be trying out more of their properties around the world - if they're anything like this resort, count me in! More>
