What a great resort!!!!
LYSA H.
Dec 01 2017
The rooms are awesome - although watch out for the ocean front rooms. They have a block of them that are actually ocean view rooms that they consider ocean front and they are definitely NOT. The buffet food was better than any other resort we've stayed at. The specialty restaurants aren't that great thought - the best one was the Japanese restaurant in the lower end Santa Fe resort. The maÓtre d's are always wanting tips in order for you to seat them. That's one person I don't even think to tip but they are expecting it or they make you wait hours or won't seat you at all. We were turned away twice and the place was empty. The pools were awesome - infinity pools with swim-up bars. They had a quiet side and a party side so you can take your pick. The entertainment was typical resort entertainment except one night they had some opera trio singing and they basically put everyone to sleep. I would lose that act. The wine at the resort was horrible - but you are allowed to bring your own into the country so I had my own. I would recommend them adding some American wines. I had to go to town to get any decent chardonnay. Other than that, the resort is beautiful. Not to large or too small. 5 minute/$14 cab ride to town.

Everything was great the only thing I would recommend is an air vent in the restroom. Many friends and family stayed here for a wedding and we enjoyed ourselves greatly!

My main concern is for those of us who donít speak spanish. When you have approximately 85 to 90% of the people visiting your hotel are English speaking. My point is is when you try asking any hotel personnel a question and they canít answer you because they donít know English, it is very frustrating. I have never been to a hotel in Mexico where the employees didnít know some sort of English. Other than that we had a great time!!!

Excellent Cabo Honeymoon!

Our honeymoon was unbelievable. Cabo is gorgeous in the October month. We had 93 degree days with one day with a couple clouds (literally, a couple clouds). Our hotel was nearly perfect. My sister and brother in law along with my mom and dad will both be visiting this location due to our amazing time/ pictures. THANK YOU!

Detail on Airport Transfer
CESAR L.
Oct 29 2017
You to clarify that there is a complete section in the SJD to bypass, because of Time Share Sales. They act as the Airport Transfer agents. That was a waste of time. At least 30 minutes. Otherwise, your disclosure and service would be perfect.

Upgrade to RIU Palace. Turned into a lucky break
SALLY M.
Sep 27 2017
I was originally booked in the RIU Santa Fe but it was damaged by Tropical Storm Lidia so I was upgraded to the RIU Palace. I can't really compare the two since I hadn't stayed at either before, but from talking to other people, the RIU Palace is much superior. I had no trouble getting into the specialty restaurants without a reservation, if I was willing to wait just a bit and be flexible. Food in both the buffet and the other restaurants were better than expected, and service by the pool, in the room and around the resort was excellent. I'd definitely go back there.

Tropical Storm Lidia Ruins the Riu
MICHAEL G.
Sep 11 2017
Tropical Storm Lidia wreaked havoc on the infrastructure of this resort and in turn our vacation. We had to call our trip short after just 2.5 days. It was particularly frustrating to see the lack of preparation and ability to handle the inclement weather which resulted in a significant loss of power/running water. We were basically trapped at the resort with few alternatives offered until we decided to book the first available flight back to the U.S. (which cost our whole group more money since it wasn't part of our original itinerary). The horrendous living conditions. poor communication from Apple and Riu staff, and general lack of preparation for a situation such as this really left a sour taste in our entire group's mouth. I understand that weather events such as this can be unpredictable, but I would certainly have anticipated and hoped for a better handling of the situation in the storm's aftermath. The experience was really the complete opposite of what we signed up for when we booked our trip back in March.

All in all it was a wonderful and different vacation. It would have been nice if the staff would have spoken "more" English, since most their guests were American! Some staff were rude, but "most" were very nice and attentive!

Good restaurants and food selection. But late night food is lacking. Make more cold cut sandwiches or have a couple other options. Other than lack of late night food, they did a great job.

First we paid for 5 people two rooms, we get to our room and there is two small double beds and no pull out, had the worst sleep for a week. I have stayed at the RIU Palace in the Mayan, much better food, the food here was very bland and the same thing everyday. We paid for the Palace so we could eat at the Santa Fe next door, when we asked at the front desk, they said we couldn't eat there, the next day we went to Sunwng and they said we could, which is it??? The only restaurants were, Indian food, Japanese (awful)not the KOBE cook in front of you style. Also the Steak restaurant (awful) you get fries as your side dish there that you have to share, and the Krystal, which we never went to as the menu did not look good.My husband knows spanish, and we went into a jewelry store next door at the Santa Fe and we greeted with here comes the pendejo's...the "stupids". I would never return, ever. there is so much more but it would take too long to write it all down.

Great all-inclusive vacation place. We stayed for 7 nights. Service was excellent, grounds were meticulous and beautiful. Evening entertainment was good. Multiple restaurants offered great dining choices from full buffets to sit-down menu ordered dinners with something for everybody. Pools were large but not heated. Rooms had a refrigerator that was stocked with bottled water, Pepsi, 7up, beer, and drink mixer as well as 4 full bottles of hard liquor. Purchasable daytime excursions are available on-site including snorkeling, sailing, horse back riding, sport fishing, ATVs, etc. Mobility impaired persons using walkers, canes, or non-electric wheel chairs may find the steep ramps leading to the pools challenging. There may have been elevators to the lower levels but not readily visible. This was a very exquisite hotel/resort.

Best location, Best hotel

We just came back from our 3rd stay at this hotel and it remains our favorite. The location is ideal. If you want to go into town, the cab is inexpensive. The views from almost every room, every lounge and every restaurant is ocean, cruise ships and El Arco...cant beat that. Each night there is entertainment which is fair but never really expect much from that. Breakfast and lunch are always great and we are very fond of the poolside dining midday. Dinners are a hit or miss, Not fond of the Indian restaurant. The Japanese is ok. The Krystal A+ and the Steakhouse has great lobster but we are not a fan of their steak and the dinner buffet is always good. The drinks are always flowing and the bartenders and rest of staff are fantastic. The rooms are large in size, have mini bar with frig and 24 hr room service. The Hotel over all is the best we have stayed in and we continue to go back. The only reason for missing the 5 star rating is that the water pressure in the showers is horrible but we overlook that and keep on coming back because all else is wonderful.

My boyfriend and I stayed for 7 days in an oceanview room. The place was very clean, and we have high standards when it comes to clean! Every staff member we encountered was kind, friendly and helpful. The food ranged from ok to very good. We especially enjoyed the Mexican restaurant and the French restaurant. The buffet also often had great items. There was a great variety of places to eat and hangout. One of our favorite places was the coffee/bar off the lobby that overlooked the ocean. Our only complaint of the entire stay would be the random foam parties. We are more interested in relaxing than having a drunk party and we found that the foam parties were very loud and people got a bit too drunk and rowdy for our liking. It would have helped if we had known when the parties were going to take place so we could plan around them. The foam would also stay in the pool for a long time afterwards and even the next day the pool had a film of soap on top that most of the guests around us were complaining about. All in all, we would highly recommend this resort and it is definitely a great value for your money!

Thanksgiving Vacation!
Krys M,
Wed Dec 06 18:40:19 EST 2017
My husband & I went for Thanksgiving week. Travel was a piece a cake, Cabo airport easy. Just pick up your luggage, press the button and hope for green and then Go straight outside to your transfers, do not stop and talk to those people no matter how nice they are unless you want to buy a timeshare. My sister and her husband met us a few days later. They did a nice job with the renovations since we were there last. We had a great view from our double room. We had only few minor issues; such as they will not let you check in before 3pm, our fan made too much noise, could use, no exhaust fan for when you take a shower, steams up mirrors and only 1 english station on tv. The elevator worked only one day throughout our week's trip. In no way did this put a damper on our vacation. Weather was perfect! We had 2 great bartenders Ludy & Jonathan at the "quiet pool". Had a fabulous time during Thanksgiving, was not crowded, easy to find chairs by the pool. I was surprised since we had several others who would have come for Thanksgiving but they showed they were fully booked. The Riu Santa Fe dinner buffet in my opinion was better than at the Palace. Would I stay again. Yes! Staff and service was great. Go and enjoy yourself!
