Riu Palace Aruba - Amazing

Riu Palace Aruba was an amazing place. When we travel, we always travel Riu. The all inclusive experience is amazing. The beach in particular at this Riu was the most beautiful place we have ever seen!

My daughters and I stayed at this hotel on our recent trip to Aruba. This hotel met and exceeded all my expectations. We were fortunate to be upgraded to an ocean view junior suite and boy, did the view wow us every day of our visit. This is a great hotel to stay at with kids. They have activities every day by the pool and at night, the entertainment is terrific. We always were able to get a lounge chair by the pool, but if you wanted a palapa on the beach, you needed to get their early and stake your claim. They offer free water activities - kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, and floats with ID. The food at the hotel was really good. From the buffet to the 4 on-site restaurants. We tried them all. The only issue with the on-site restaurants was that the food was not kid-friendly. So, I would recommend just doing the buffet. The staff on-site at the hotel were super friendly and spoke English very well. I had been at another Riu hotel in Cancun, but this one was far superior. Highly recommend, especially if you have children.

No negative review from me!

Prior to my trip,I encountered some really negative reviews regarding rooms smelling musty, fish being bad,and not to eat it. All I can say is this vacation was one of the best I've been on. I was impressed with the food. Everything was delicious, including the seafood, and I had no stomach issues eating at any of the restaurants. Either did my husband. Our room was gorgeous, and very large and comfortable. There was no musty odor in our room,as stated in a review on Trip Advisor. The bathroom was quite spacious, and clean. Only negative there was the need for a better hair dryer. The one on the wall had no power to it. I also would like to commend the person who thought to include magnifying mirrors for those of us who need one to put makeup on. I would like to suggest that a clock be put in the room,on the nightstand, so you could see what time of the day it is. Outside at pools and beach, there was reserving of chairs and tiki huts with towels, obviously done early in am, making it difficult to secure something shaded on beach or at the pool. Other than that, you'd be crazy not to try the RIU!

We've stayed at Riu's in Punta Cana, Mexico and now Aruba - they are all great, but the island of Aruba makes the difference in choosing it as our favorite.

Amazing is the word to describe this hotel. The staff always greeted you with a smile and made you feEl like you are the most important guest there. I am not a fan of buffets but let me say this the buffet was at least 10 stations and the food was served in small batches which meant it was always fresh. The buffet was better than the restaurants this does not mean that the restaurants were sub part because they were wonderful. The grounds were immaculate and the pool was enormous and clean. The beach was great and when you walked onto the beach there was a young man who would find you a spot and bring you a lounge chair. THEY say not to tip but these people were so fantastic I left many tips and they were extremely grateful. Bottom line don't miss out on going to the RIU Aruba. We will absolutely be going back and looking for a Riu in other travels

Riu Palace Arube and Apple Vacations

We have stayed at Riu Palaces many times in Playa del Carmen and know the chain's standards. We were disappointed in our stay at Riu Palace Aruba as the hotel didn't meet the expectations noted on Apple's website and based upon our experiences at other Riu Palace due to a fire that had occurred just prior to our arrival. The hotel was not fully operational when we arrived and we were disappointed that Apple had been informed and knew about the fire yet chose not to tell us in advance of our departure. We experienced power outages on an evening, not elevators were not operational for several days, some restaurants were closed. Apple should have thoroughly researched how the hotel had been impacted and discussed potential issues with us in advance to give us the option to go to another resort. We also found the on-site contact uninformed which we found hard to believe (Palma Tours). We've requested a partial reimbursement from Apple as we booked through Apple.

NOT Riu/Occidental

We arrived in Aruba only to be told that our resort (Riu) had a fire that am, and that we were being placed at the Occidental, we are very grateful that we had a place to stay, however the Occidental is not the Riu in our opinion it was a major down grade. There was NO communication with us, we asked lots of questions but got no answers, we had a wonderful vacation in spite of the Riu and apple vacations lack of communications and are very happy that we were able to spend our vacation in Aruba, not as planned however, we do not feel we got what we paid for and have a this point still not heard any explanations from either the Riu or Apple Vacations, very disappointing considering the amout of money we paid.

HOTEL OKAY BUT WEATHER WAS LOUSY
applerosebetty, Queens Village, New York
Mon Dec 11 02:00:42 EST 2017
\ We went in November No lifeguard, and the pool and ocean were cool. The weather was also not too terrific, not hot like we heard it would be Outdated furniture. Very loud heavy noisy doors Food repetitive but edible enough The staff was nice enough ,although it took the bartenders a few attempts to put enough liquor in Beach was no more spectacular than the myriad of other island beaches we've frequented. We've always heard how clear the water is, its okay, but we actually like the Bahamas better Nice enough, but not worth the one hour of extra travel time. A lot of build up to go there, but we were not impressed.

Birthday trip ... island amazing ... hotel just average

So was my birthday trip was kind of last minute although had been eyeing up aruba for a few years... the island is amazing if you get a chance GO!! Restaurants out there are really yummy and a nice vibe in evenings... feels very safe and can walk wherever you like. So for the hotel.... it’s huge... you get lost amongst the guests.... if you like that sort of thing then you will love this! We have stayed in loads of big chain rius and this was a very good example of one.. it just really depends on what ur looking for in a holiday !! We like it to be relatively lively and fun but crowds of people and getting up at 6 am to reserve a lounger really really got to us... it’s just a absolute pain. The buffet door I would say is the best out of all rius in mexico and other places it’s very good and loads of choices!! The pool is loud and I mean loud.... I’m young and love to get drunk everyday and meet people and have fun but this was like having banging house music every day all day which is annoying!! They could do for few house but all day long is just too much and if u fancy a nap by the pool u will struggle.. The pool is kind of clean .... not the most clean but not the most dirty! There is pool drink service but even tho we where tipping they just barley came over it was odd in mexico if ur tipping I will never be with out a drink and here we just got used to going up and getting a drink .... but then if that’s ok by you then u wont have a issue... it really is just down to what u love and hate.... the people are very friendly and do work hard I think just maybe different rules there. Rooms where nice the same as all riu palaces and was a nice touch to put sandwitches in our room as we where 5 hours delayed!! The bars are fun and very fast service and actually very well made cocktails!! Ask for a dirty monkey or a passionfuit mojito!! The trips are fun if your with Thomson do the jeep day tour as u will really see the entire island and renting a car is quite expensive!!! The steak restaurant is nice according to others ( im vegetarian) but don’t bother with Krystal!! Try going for a walk along the beach and see neighbouring hotels I think if we go back we will pick one of the others as the look still busy but no banging music!! But if you don’t mind the things I mentioned you will have a great trip and to be honest we had a great trip anyway it’s just those particular things annoyed us a little !! I would def go back and this hotel is a good option even for a base as everything is very expensive there .... Hope this review helped in some way or another.....

One happy island for sure.

1st time at the palace. Last 3 years we were at the Riu Antillas. First of all the staff, every single one of them are super hard working and go out of their way to make you happy. The ladies who clean our room were amazing. When I first walked into this hotel many years ago, I was impressed by the opulence of it all. Now after 10 years and different hotels, I'd have to say it it's not my favourite. Once again it's the building and not the staff. We had an ocean view in the main building and it was a breathtaking view. However the rooms are small and dated- which is fine. But honestly if you want a good nights sleep bring your own pillow. Ours were worn and floppy- no support. We asked for extra which we got within minutes. It's a little longer trek to the beach from the main building, the pools are beautiful and the staff is up before sunrise washing the decks and cleaning the pools. We ate at the Japenese restaurant twice, which was very good. We'd recommend the filet and the chicken satay. They start with a sushi platter for two which is very nice. The Italian is the same as the Antillas- nothing ordered off the menu is good- just the buffet style apps are edible- not worth it. The steak house is very nice and has a nice view of the beach. The steaks are great. Also went back a second time and had their burger. It’s very good, but my god it’s huge. Definitely need a big appetite for that! The buffet, at first seemed good. But after a few days, it’s very repetitive and they do cater to children, so menu is not so diverse. Went to the Antillas buffet for flambé night and I highly recommend it. They do the flaming Parmesan bowl pasta and it’s better than Gianni’s down the street- and it’s all inclusive and all you can eat! Much more selection and variety. Would I return? Yes, the price was right, but I spent the majority of my time at the Antillas, just because the food had so many more choices. Also the rooms at the Antillas are more spacious, and I find their lobby is brighter and cleaner. Also the lobby of the Palace is very smoky from the casino. Also the Palace only has 2 elevators in the main building and 1 always seemed to be out of service. Also a big shout out to Milo in the sports bar who got me tea every morning, with a smile and nice start to my day. Please also remember to tip your maids, servers, and beach chair guys. They work so hard and a few dollars really makes their day.

NICE HOTEL, BUT NOT CRAVING TO GO BACK THERE AGAIN
HOMERUNSAREGREAT, NEW JERSEY
Fri Dec 08 09:33:19 EST 2017
My wife and I have never been to Aruba but we heard so many great things we felt it as time at last. We decided on the Hotel Riu Palace from all the reviews we read. We came in from New Jersey so the flight is about an hour more then going to say Jamaica or the Bahamas. The hotel is close to the airport. O, before I forget when you book a commute form the airport to the hotel, make sure you hire a private car. We thought he hired a van, not private but one that only holds a few people. It turns out it as a bus and believe me you do not want to make this mistake. If you are not the first hotel it will take forever and it seems there are only small roads, nothing major and that means traffic. We got to the hotel and they met us with a drink. We read from the reviews that the nighttime entertainments stage can me loud at night. So we asked not to be put near the stage and of course when we got to our room it was. So we told the bellman that we want to go down and see if we can switch out room which we did. If you want more quiet at night ask for room 435 or there abouts. The rooms are very nice and some have terraces that you can sit out and some don't. You have to make yourself clear what you want. Housekeeping was terrific. They gave plenty of towels and the refridge was stocked everyday. And if you had a request just leave a note and it will be taken care of. By the way, you should bring your own clock because the rooms do not have any. Well at least our room did not, and when we requested one they said they do not have them. Again, the rooms are nice and the furniture is a bit dated. The drawers did stick and we just made it a habit of not closing them all the way. Bathroom is large. And the front doors are heavy and you can hear when people do close them. Not a big deal unless you are a light sleeper like the blonde I went on vacation with. The hotel really is not as big as some would make it out to be. It really is quite easy to get around. The restaurants are near each other accept for the steakhouse. The food is good, not great but good with a variety. Many are repeated. The specialty restaurants do not chance their menu. The wait staff is truly great. O, there are some duds but most are great. The bartenders if you ask for a stronger drink will give you a stronger drink. Again we found most workers great, Now to the beach and pool. We went to Aruba in early to mid November and we could not believe how cool the water was. O sure once you are in there you get use to it. But I thought it was going to be bath tub warm. The ocean as well was a bit cool. And again we heard how hot it is and how strong the sun is. The week we were there we never thought it was so hot. The beach is nice but hey, Cable beach in the Bahamas has this one beat. But it was nice, just not as wonderful as people have expressed. I got down at about 6:30 in the morning to reserve the hut like enclosures. Not to bad but if you got down at say 8 you were out of luck. The guys who work the beach area are very nice. Hey, be like most Americans and tip the staff. What is it, you non Americans do not believe it tipping? We went to the casino one day just to take a look, and people are right, as soon as you open the front door the smell of smoke smacks you in the face. We went down the block, you make the left and the town is right there. We were looking for a rock band and we figured the Hard Rock Café would have one but no luck. They had bands there and one was not bad. Other places has strummers. I do not understand how people who stay at all inclusive go for a meal outside of their hotel because the prices are insane. We bought a couple drinks and I am saying a beer and a drink was 20 bucks. It is safe, which is nice. And the vendors do not hawk their wares and bother you at all. If you been to 5th Ave in Mexico you know what I mean. It was a nice vacation but the hotel just was not outstanding. For us swimming is important and they only have the one large pool. The hotel is like a U shape and as I said it really is not that big. You will sure to have a good time, but for the extra hour of travel I would go to the Bahamas, We did not eat at the specialty restaurants because the buffet was good. The entertainment at night was the usual for anywhere you go. It would be nice if they had a band and a dance floor for the guests to dance. But that is really never the case no matter where you go. But the staff tries hard and do their best to entertain. I could not give the place 3 1/s stars but that is what I felt it was.

The Riu Palace Aruba was awesome! The staff is wonderful! The resort is clean, beach is gorgeous and the food in the main buffet restaurant was tasty we enjoyed it very much! The hotel is family friendly and not far from airport and a few shops and restaurants if you want to experience things outside of the resort. We went and walked in the neighborhood in the evening and felt very safe. This is the first resort/hotel that did a follow up call about service requests, to ensure customers received service in a timely manner! Awesome job and superb customer service!
