Riu Palace Aruba - Amazing

Riu Palace Aruba was an amazing place. When we travel, we always travel Riu. The all inclusive experience is amazing. The beach in particular at this Riu was the most beautiful place we have ever seen!

Beautiful View, Friendly Workers, Great Food

My daughters and I stayed at this hotel on our recent trip to Aruba. This hotel met and exceeded all my expectations. We were fortunate to be upgraded to an ocean view junior suite and boy, did the view wow us every day of our visit. This is a great hotel to stay at with kids. They have activities every day by the pool and at night, the entertainment is terrific. We always were able to get a lounge chair by the pool, but if you wanted a palapa on the beach, you needed to get their early and stake your claim. They offer free water activities - kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, and floats with ID. The food at the hotel was really good. From the buffet to the 4 on-site restaurants. We tried them all. The only issue with the on-site restaurants was that the food was not kid-friendly. So, I would recommend just doing the buffet. The staff on-site at the hotel were super friendly and spoke English very well. I had been at another Riu hotel in Cancun, but this one was far superior. Highly recommend, especially if you have children.

No negative review from me!

Prior to my trip,I encountered some really negative reviews regarding rooms smelling musty, fish being bad,and not to eat it. All I can say is this vacation was one of the best I've been on. I was impressed with the food. Everything was delicious, including the seafood, and I had no stomach issues eating at any of the restaurants. Either did my husband. Our room was gorgeous, and very large and comfortable. There was no musty odor in our room,as stated in a review on Trip Advisor. The bathroom was quite spacious, and clean. Only negative there was the need for a better hair dryer. The one on the wall had no power to it. I also would like to commend the person who thought to include magnifying mirrors for those of us who need one to put makeup on. I would like to suggest that a clock be put in the room,on the nightstand, so you could see what time of the day it is. Outside at pools and beach, there was reserving of chairs and tiki huts with towels, obviously done early in am, making it difficult to secure something shaded on beach or at the pool. Other than that, you'd be crazy not to try the RIU!

We've stayed at Riu's in Punta Cana, Mexico and now Aruba - they are all great, but the island of Aruba makes the difference in choosing it as our favorite.

Amazing is the word to describe this hotel. The staff always greeted you with a smile and made you feEl like you are the most important guest there. I am not a fan of buffets but let me say this the buffet was at least 10 stations and the food was served in small batches which meant it was always fresh. The buffet was better than the restaurants this does not mean that the restaurants were sub part because they were wonderful. The grounds were immaculate and the pool was enormous and clean. The beach was great and when you walked onto the beach there was a young man who would find you a spot and bring you a lounge chair. THEY say not to tip but these people were so fantastic I left many tips and they were extremely grateful. Bottom line don't miss out on going to the RIU Aruba. We will absolutely be going back and looking for a Riu in other travels

Riu Palace Arube and Apple Vacations

We have stayed at Riu Palaces many times in Playa del Carmen and know the chain's standards. We were disappointed in our stay at Riu Palace Aruba as the hotel didn't meet the expectations noted on Apple's website and based upon our experiences at other Riu Palace due to a fire that had occurred just prior to our arrival. The hotel was not fully operational when we arrived and we were disappointed that Apple had been informed and knew about the fire yet chose not to tell us in advance of our departure. We experienced power outages on an evening, not elevators were not operational for several days, some restaurants were closed. Apple should have thoroughly researched how the hotel had been impacted and discussed potential issues with us in advance to give us the option to go to another resort. We also found the on-site contact uninformed which we found hard to believe (Palma Tours). We've requested a partial reimbursement from Apple as we booked through Apple.

NOT Riu/Occidental
JAMES K.
Mar 16 2016
We arrived in Aruba only to be told that our resort (Riu) had a fire that am, and that we were being placed at the Occidental, we are very grateful that we had a place to stay, however the Occidental is not the Riu in our opinion it was a major down grade. There was NO communication with us, we asked lots of questions but got no answers, we had a wonderful vacation in spite of the Riu and apple vacations lack of communications and are very happy that we were able to spend our vacation in Aruba, not as planned however, we do not feel we got what we paid for and have a this point still not heard any explanations from either the Riu or Apple Vacations, very disappointing considering the amout of money we paid.

7 Days vacation in Aruba Riu Palace

Never been to Aruba before. That hotel was one of not so many all-Inclusive hotels in Aruba. Was highly recommended on other websites. I expected much more for the money we paid. First, the food was ok, no complains there. The service in the restaurants was very good, very nice people to deal with. The hotel entertaining was very poor. Not that many activities. The room cleaning was good, room bar was refreshed daily. The main problem we had with the show, that was ending every day at 11pm. We’re not usually attending these shows, we just want to come to the room and relax which is very hard with the show ending that late. It’s very loud, have to keep the room TV on to somehow quiet the loud noise from the show. Would be better if the show would end earlier, like 10pm.

Amazing hotel in an even more amazing island.

Hotel staff were all very friendly and efficient. There is never a long line for bar service anywhere. The food in all the restaurants are great, however, their food labelling in the buffet or a la carts are all very vague. It would say the what the dish is called, but not what is in it. I have severe shellfish allergies so it was very difficult to try dishes I didn't recognize. We ate in all of them instead of Krystal because it as soon as we walked in, it reeked of boiled shellfish. All other restaurants were great, they are all first come first serve, but we didn't have any issues being seated except for the very popular Steakhouse. Get there by 6:15pm to get seated, otherwise, you will need to wait an hour or 2. The sushi from the Japanese restaurant had really mushy overcooked rice but their entree options are all wonderful. The Italian resto's appetizer bar was amazing and so were their pasta and lamb entrées, you just need to tell them to go easy on the pasta sauces if you don't like alfredo soup. We also enjoyed the snack fridge in the sports bar that contains prepackaged snacks that are amazing for a night's worth of drinking. We also ordered room service ones after doing the pub crawl excursion around 2am and they actually came and brought it. The food was also fresh. I also must have eaten 20 chocolate ganache macarons from the coffee bar at the lobby that entire week. There is limited number of palapas on the beach and people start reserving it from 5am, not actually use their sunbeds until after lunch. It's very frustrating to be there by 7am or 8am and seeing an empty beach but palapas full of towels. It's even more annoying to see people with palapas closest to the beach who drag their beds straight in the middle of the sun anyway, which defeats the purpose of having the palapa since 5am. The beach itself is wonderful, powdery sand and crystal clear water. I just didn't understand why the watersports people were allowing people to kayak through the area where people are swimming when there is an area roped off for boats. The pool is fine, but due to the layout of the surrounding buildings, 1/2 of it gets shaded very early and by 4pm, the pool is completely in the shade. With the constant winds that Aruba is known for, it gets too cold to enjoy it completely. There is a casino in the lobby. We were given vouchers for a couple of free plays in our check in package. We decided to check it out, but left within 15 mins because too many people were smoking in such a small enclosed space. We had a jr. Suite ocean view room on the 8th floor. The balcony was very small. It is a half moon, about 6 Ft wide and 4 Ft deep. There is barely room for the 2 chairs they put on it. It was a waste of our money to pay the extra for the ocean view considering we couldn't really sit outside the balcony in the morning to drink coffee since having 2 people on it at the same time is uncomfortable. My husband is very tall so his knee caps are touching the metal grating. He hates heights as well so it was not an enjoyable situation for either of us. There was a lady named Maria at the front desk that really rubbed me the wrong way. I asked if we can place a call to de palm tours to confirm our excursion for the next day and she took it as an inconvenience to her life. Her face just contorted in a way that you would think I asked her to clean my shoes with her tongue before telling me there's no point calling since it's after business hours. Everyone else we experienced at the lobby or front desk are all very nice and accommodating. Our room was cleaned 5/7 days that we were there. Not sure why they skipped our room the day before we checked out. We even put the green sign on our door, but finally gave up on that when we came back at 5pm to get ready for dinner. When they cleaned up, we have no complaints. Towels were always refreshed and the mini bar was always refilled. The liquor dispensers had old liquor in there that has oxidized so we didn't really bother using it after the first night. The hotel is located right at the bottom end of the area known as the Hi-Rise Hotels. After dinner, we liked to walk out towards the left of the road where all restaurants, bars, shops and souvenir stands are. You can walk for hours just taking in the nice cool evening breezes without being bothered by vendors. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in the Riu Palace Aruba. It is a beautiful hotel and we definitely recommend it to anyone going to Aruba for the first time.

Would recommend this hotel!

I stayed at this hotel the last week in October and first week in November with my Husband and we had a lovely holiday. Room We were upgraded to a junior suite, the room was a good size with a lovely view of the pool and the beach and the gorgeous sunsets. The bed was huge and the aircon so effective we didn't need it on through the night. The bathroom had 2 sinks which was good as one of them was blocked. The room was clean, good maid service and towels renewed twice a day. When we arrived to the room there was a welcome cake/balloons for my Husbands 40th, a nice touch. Pool/Beach We never reserved sun loungers and we always managed to get one and that was normally about 10am. Yes some people do reserve them early but I think it must be if they like their comfort and have to use the same one throughout their holiday. The beach is beautiful and the sea turquoise in colour. The weather was great, in 2 weeks we had 1 day of rain other than that it was sunny and without the cloud and wind it would be too hot. The pool does get loud with activities especially later in the day but the beach is peaceful. Staff With the exception of some of the staff, we found most to be friendly and helpful (we didn't have to deal with reception). Ingrid in the Italian went out of her way to make our evening enjoyable. The entertainment team work so hard and long hours and do well to keep things varied to suit all tastes. Food The food was amazing (I am vegetarian, my Husband is not). Buffet - there is so much choice and it all seemed very fresh. I think anyone that says it is not varied or boring/repetitive must pile their plate full with loads of different combinations/food that don't naturally go.We chose to eat like we would in a restaurant, by having a starter, quite often an amazing cheese board, then either Italian, Mexican, Fish or meat dishes. When you are there for 2 weeks you don't have to over do it and go crazy on the first few nights. Themed restaurants - it is worth visiting all of these, I think Crystal followed by the Italian was my favourite but my Husband preferred the Japanese and the Steak house. Although not on all the menus each restaurant provided a vegetarian meal for me. I think anyone that says don't bother with the restaurants and stick to the buffet is because they can eat as much as they want. We did really enjoy the buffet but it feels less personal. Sister Hotel If you don't have children it is worth using the facilities at The Antillas. We went to the pool a few times, it is a little more peaceful and there are a lot of Iguanas in the grass around the sun loungers. It also makes the evenings a little more varied, this hotel keeps the beach bar open on an evening and its nice to chill here. They also have an upstairs bar and the nightclub. We preferred the Casino here as it didn't really smell of smoke like our casino. Overall had a fab holiday and would recommend as an all inclusive. I have read some comments to say there is no need for all inclusive but Aruba isn't cheap so it really depends on your budget. We still had a few enjoyable nights out in both Palm Beach and Oranjestad but I think 15 nights paying out for food and drink would have been very expensive.

Aruba is a great place for a get-a-way

We had a beautiful ocean view room with 2 balconies! The Riu was excellent, good staff, good food, good service...no issues at all I would recommend it. Aruba itself is not the most beautiful island as it gets very little rain, so it is dry and desert like, but on the beach side they have made it beautiful, as the beaches are spectacular and the ocean fantastic. What I loved the most about Aruba was the people, they were friendly, kind and helpful. Also, it is a very safe island, so is also an added bonus... Book your trip now! It is worth it!

My husband and I visited here in June and loved Aruba so much we returned this month, however the start to our holiday was not what we were expecting . After arriving mid afternoon and being shown to our junior suite which was fine on the 10th floor with an amazing sea view instead of immediately unpacking we decided to go get the last of the sun rays . We generally prefer the beach but decided as it was not too busy we would stay at the pool for the last hour . The area by the small pool facing the beach was quite with plenty of free lounges we settled down I took my watch ( which was a Rolex ) of to put my sun cream on and placed my bag on the empty lounger next to me and my watch was stolen at first I thought it had fallen on the floor etc but no where to be seen it was definitely stolen I went to reception twice within the next 24hours and to be honest they were not really interested until on my third visit I had to see a manager who was more helpful . There is only one CCTV camera placed near the restaurant which when they looked could not pick anything up Now I know it was my own stupidity however I would of expected a little more concerned when initially reporting the theft after all it was on there property all I would say to anyone staying round the pool area it's very busy and clearly not everyone are honest .We did manage to put it behind us had as in June we had a great holiday with great service a special mention to Yolanda in the restaurant her smile and exceptional service helped to turn a bad start into a fab holiday
