Great place to relax and have fun

Our room was not huge but we only used it to sleep and change our clothes. The shower was wonderful! The different pools and bars were great to suit our different moods and desire for quiet or to party. The different dining venues for lunch and dinner made it easy to satisfy 6 different appetites. The staff was so nice, especially the activities group. We enjoyed the musical entertainment at dinner and the special shows. The reef located just off the beach was so beautiful to explore when we only wanted to snorkel for an hour or two. Our only negative experience was the people smoking in the pool . When the smokers arrived, we had to move. Making hand sanitizer available at all buffets would be good too. The hotel is located close to an area that has several stores and stalls that we could walk to for necessities and gifts. I felt very comfortable walking off the resort in the evening.

Worst experience at an all inclusive resort

Every year we book a group vacation ranging from 12 to 18 people. we have been to Aruba several times because its amazing. Our first couple of times at the Riu Antillas it was great, yes the hotel is old and run down and could use a major renovation but we enjoyed ourselves regardless. Until this last time and it will be our last time to this resort not Aruba. Upon arrival our group went to check in everyone had there rooms except for us. Two of the couples got to there rooms and they weren't even clean other guest dirty towels still hanging on the back of the bathroom door etc. I was told they had no reservation even though I had my paperwork and confirmation #. The front desk staff were probably the rudest people i have encountered in the Caribbean. I was told they would probably have to accommodate us at another hotel. we explained we were with a large group and chose this resort because it was an adult resort and we had a confirmation # and they would have to honor that. They did not care at all and said they did not have to honor anything. after several hours of waiting on a response from someone a manager approached telling us they had a room for us. He also wanted to treat the whole group to a dinner at one of there restaurants which is free so what are you really offering. From that point on we weren't treated well at all. The food has gone down hill since the last time we were there and the booze is the cheapest you can find and just horrible. on our last day they left a note to call the jolly pirate ship which is a tour we booked early in the week. so we called a 2 second phone call cost us $35 yes a local call. I could go on and on but I will leave it alone. just very disappointed and disgusted at how we were treated!!

Honeymoon in April 2018

My wife and I had our honeymoon here last April. I will say it is a very beautiful place and would love to come back, food was fantastic as well. However, when we arrived to Riu at the hotel we checked in, brought us to "our" room and there was other peoples stuff in it! it was already occupied, so we went back down and of course there wasn't anything ready right away so we had to sit for a bit, keep in mind this is our first day in Aruba and our excitement level went down. Finally they got us a room, and the room was in a horrible location, no decent view. This was our honeymoon I wanted a nice room..... so finally the next day there was a better room available. again the room was okay, nothing special but a little better. We were just bummed how the beginning of our honeymoon started out, nothing special in the room for us either which was kind of un-welcoming.

Riu Palace Antillas ( Adult Only) After Landing in Aruba, Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA) to be exact. We went through an Aruban a Passport control quickly by a self-service process by using facial recognition technology scanning passport, which very impressive for the country which 20 miles in length , and 6 miles across. After we pick up our luggage , we passed the luggage control, which is empty no one there, scanners were covered up. As we’re approach the exit, we were handed a burgundy hand bag that got the words “ Little Switzerland “ imprinted on it . In that bag you’ll find a little folder “ Bon Bini Guide” which mean a welcome bag . In there you’ll get a whole lot of information on tours, excursions, and shops and so on. We went out through the exit looking for our rep( Vacation Express’s rep) we found our rep at the back chitchat to another rep from other company. We identified ourselves, the Rep check marked his list and told us to go wait outside, he will call the driver to come and pick us up. After about 20 minutes or so the driver come and walk inside toward the Rep and come out with other travelers that will be boarding the bus( El Tours). After about 10 minutes on the bus, we got to Riu Palace Antillas ( for Adult Only, no kids), which we booked our reservation through Vacation Express 3 months ahead. This Riu Palace chain is different from the one that we’ve been to. This one got a huge columns, with several red interesting odd shape chairs. A Lobby bar ( Wayaka) across from the Reception area, and a Casino (Orchid) on the right hand side of the Reception area . While we’re waiting to be check in, they brought us two glasses of champagne ,the check-in process went smoothly. The receptionist gave us an envelope, printed our names, room number, WiFi information. Inside an envelope there are two keys for the room, and two towel cards, plus some coupons that you can use inside the Resort ,which we never bother with it. There is also a weekly schedule activities that the Resort provided. A map of the Resort and restaurants information also in that envelope. The front personnel never explain to us about the restaurants and where about each restaurant is. We were told that the room were ready, when we got to the room(718).The housekeeper still cleaning up, so we just leave the luggage in the room and went down stair looking for something to eat at the “Malmok- Aruban” for lunch. There are 5 restaurants , 3 are regulars, which mean you don’t need to dress up to eat there, Krystal( fusion gourmet),Rimini (Italian) are the specialty that open mainly for dinner. Palm Beach (steak house at night )also serving lunch buffet . You’re required to have a proper attired for Krystal,Rimini and Palm Beach ( dinner ). No reservation required for the specialty restaurants- first come first serve basis) There is a snack bar ( Lounge 24) which open 24 hours. In the lounge you got almost everything from coffee to your fruits, cakes, and a light breakfast. At Antillas restaurants are : Atlantis (Buffet- Breakfast 7:00-11:00 am,and Dinner- 6:30-10:00 pm) Palm Beach( Lunch - 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Dinner (Steak House 6:30-9:00pm) Malmok( Lunch 12:00-4:00 pm, Dinner 6:30-9:00 pm) Krystal ( Dinner 6:30-9:00) Rimini(6:30-9:00pm) You can also walk across to the Riu Palace (family)next door and eat there too, You can go there and eat, But they can’t come and eat at the Antillas. At Antillas Bars : Wayaka( Lobby Bar 10am- 12:00am Capucchino 7:00am- 10 pm Carnaval( Lounge bar 6:00am- 12:00 am Chiquito( Plaza Bar 6:00-12:00pm) Aqua( Pool bar 10:00am- 6:00 pm) The Lobby floor is spacious, decor with large printed artworks. There is also a lower floor that you can access to the pools and bars, all the gift-shops located on the bottom floor, a little pricey though. The Gym also located on the bottom floor. The room is clean and spacious, furnished with wooden headboard ,tables, nightstands and so on. In the room there is a small fridge,in there you’ll find two sprites,2club sodas, 4 cokes and 2diet cokes, 2 of 20Fl.OZ PureAWA Aruba water, and 4 Balashi(Aruba’s Beer). Above the fridge there is a shelf that consisted of Scotch,Whisky,Vodka,Rum at our dispense. The shower is clean but it’s a little small, and low . There is also a safe, Iron, but no iron board in our room. Riu Antillas is beautiful and clean, friendly employees. They put their guests first, from safety to foods. We met friendly people from different places. The pool are clean, less chlorine smelling unlike normal pool that we’ve been to, plenty of drinks( alcohol or non) at the pool. The beach is nice, there are plenty of beach chairs, if you want the spot just go and place your towel on the chair, and fold it and no one will get your spot . Also work with the pool chairs, just place your towel on it. We read the reviews before we book the Aruba trip to Riu Antillas ,we unsure how the outcome will turn out, but when we got there and spent time there, everything is great. No windy that will ruin your beach tanning, the waves sort of a little strong when we were there, but you can still swim. All beaches are public in Aruba, so you can walk the beach from one end to the other, if you’re like walk the beach whether on the side walk or walking on the sand, you can do that. We walk the beach most of the time while we’re there. You can go to the downtown market by get on a public bus( minivan) cost around $3.50 per person. Taxi cost around $20. There are plenty of things to do and discover. Aruba is beautiful, almost 100 nationalities on the whole island, people are friendly and their hospitality is great. Riu Palaces ,and Aruba are our favorite place, nice resort, amazing staff, plenty of alcohols, and plenty of sun, and the beach are great . What else would you need in the paradise? Would we return to Riu Palace? Definitely ! So let forget about work for awhile, and let have some “ fun in the sun”. Have a great time.
