Another fantastic stay!

he rooms and room facilities are spotless. Yes, the furniture can be dated in rooms i.e. those not yet renovated, but they are comfortable, exceptionally clean, and in good/safe condition. Air con is excellent, but if you keep your balcony doors open early evening you will experience the humidity familiar to and/of every Caribbean island and mainland eg Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Dom Rep and Aruba to name but a few; this can also affect communal areas/corridors etc. This is a super hotel, with super staff, food and facilities....enjoy it people we did, and are returning for a 3rd visit in 2018!

Very good hotel! Sea perfect

We were at the riu antillas, from 1/01 to 8/01. This hotel is very very clean. Adults only, quiet, beautiful. This was a Westin hotel 2 years ago . The riu buy, and changed the outside , pool, bars near the pool and the sea. The lobby is very nice, like westin was ect It is nice with a few modern touch. Some people are disapointed, because everything i'nt modern. It is very expensive to change all the hotel at the same time, And if we want to be " recycle " things, we have to accept this kind of compromise. The room are big, Very confortable beds. The only , problem, it is smelling , humidity in each floor, Not in the room, I think, because the the carpet. In the room, there' s no carpet, floor have been change. The food is very good , and all of the people who work there, are Exceptionnel! All the people smile ! We liked the restaurant à la carte,( 4) i think they can have more restaurants à la carte. But the buffet is very good too. The sea is perfect, blue-aqua. And we rent a car 1 day, for visit the island.

Nice Place would recommend it with a few suggestions/expectation adjustments

Had to drop someone off at the airport New Year's day in Boston, Ma. Why not get on a plane for a sunny five day getaway. I would recommend this and would probably go again. Here are my thoughts on the different levels of an all inclusive in Aruba 1. The location: Good, first among all High Riser's. We stayed at the Adult Only of the two RIU resorts. Most say the family resort (with kids) is more modern and updated. It is right on the beach and has good access public transportation 2. The room: Probably the least favorable of this review, but still nothing that would make us change our mind. The rooms are a bit out dated. The drainage in the room was very slow. Shower, sink and toilet all were slow. Had to hold the handle down on the toilet for at least 20 seconds to get a full flush. The sitting chair in the room was stained. Put a towel over it to use. And for whatever reason, there were face cloths when we got there, but every night upon returning to the room we had to call down and ask for them to be put in the room. There is a four bottle alcohol tap in the room. Nice but not really what we were drinking. The bell hope told us we could call the desk and request it be stocked with what we wanted. We did that, but it never came. Seems like a lot of complaints, but all minor. It did not affect our stay. There is a lot of talk about the room location. It seems we lucked out to get the ocean view side. Make sure you know what your getting. Small balcony, but had drying rack on the wall. That was a nice feature to dry bathing suits. 3. The Food: The was really good. We choose to eat at buffet's all but the first night. Surprised to see a better quality of food and variety than one would expect at a buffet. Dinner's were much nicer that lunches. The lunches seem to have the same rotation of options. Every night there was a different theme of food and dining entertainment. 4. Specialty Restaurants: We choose to eat at the Steak House. We heard that seats where limited and it was hard to get in. We stood in line for 1/2 hour to get in at 6:30 PM. Honestly, everybody got in that was in line and there were open tables while we ate. It was a good meal and a good steak. Not great. I have a feeling it was probably a really good steak for Aruba. I am glad it was included. I would not have been happy paying Steak House prices for the meal we got. I feel you get a better steak at Texas Road House. I would eat there again, knowing what to expect. We did not eat at any of the other Specialty Restaurant's. The menu's seemed limited and we thought better of the buffet's. 5. Bars: Many options to drink at, same options to drink. To us it seems the alcohol was low end choices. Probably the highest option was Bacardi's. I like Captian's which our research prior to going said they had. They did not, the bartender said they use to have it, but not anymore. And, then added he wish they still did. Outside the drinks are served in 8 house plastic cups with not top and no straw. After adding ice you get a very small drink. It did not take long to figure out everyone was bringing their own (non-breakable) cups. The staff was great, they would fill anything gave them with any drink you asked for. 6. Entertainment: We never went to the "Disco" I think the hours were 10:30 PM to 2:00 AM. Not our cup of tea. We did go to one "Pirate Show". Acrobatic in nature. We had a long day, lots of sun and probably too much food and drink. We both nodded off during it so we left. Had the best time at the outside bar (the only outside one open after 7:00 PM) with a single guitar lounge singer. There were many other times we would be walking through out the hotel and there would be solo and/or Duo performers playing. 7. Activities: The pool crew worked really hard. They tried their best to get people engaged. Sometimes it worked and some times it didn't. At times it seemed like they were having more fun than the guests, but there was nothing wrong with that either. 8. The Staff: They were great. Always helpful, friendly and attentive. You always saw someone cleaning. Even outside, we saw someone wet mopping the walkway down to the beach. The wait staff are almost too efficient. You have to careful to remind them that you are coming back to the table from the buffet. If not, when you get back the table is cleared. If they ask you if you want more (as in wine), they seem to think that "no" means you don't want what you have and try to take it off the table. We never did figure out how to say we "No, we don't want more wine, but don't take the wine I do want". We just would hold onto the glass and say "No, thank you". I like to have my salad on one plate and my dinner on another. At least once I would catch my salad plate being pulled out from under my left elbow because they thought a dish to the side of the table was a dish we did not want anymore. 10. The Casio: Ok, Small. Never saw it busy. And, as all Casio's are, smoky. Black Jack tables was $15 min. Slots were Ok. Just remember, even though its part of the resort, you pay for drinks in the Casio. 11. Concierge: Very Helpful and friendly. I wanted to go fishing. They had charter options but said I had to get to and from the Marina on my own. Just walking around the Marina I found a cheaper charter (by $50) who was willing to pick me up and drop me off. 12: Walking: Walked around the hotel and down town. Always felt safe. There is a boardwalk that runs between the sandy beach and the high rise hotels that we really enjoyed. It ran for a couple of miles. It was not something we read about or saw advertised. We found it nicer than walking the streets in front of the hotels. Outside the hotels there seemed to be many food and shopping options. Downtown, Its a cruise ship port and is very much the same type of stores you see if you cruise. It is an Island that runs off tourism. Other notable items: 1. Oddly, if you wish to stay longer than the 12:00 PM check out time they charge you $20 an hour. I can see everyone wanting to stay longer because of late flights, however this is the first time we ran into an hourly charge. 2. The airport. You have to go through US customs in Aruba. Nice to know this, yes. But what we didn't know and was told by the cab driver going to the hotel. US customs officer's go home at 5:00 PM. So you had better get there at least an hour early than that no matter what time you flight goes out. I believe the last flight out is scheduled for 6:00 Pm. No problem right. Except we were there the first week of January where a Blizzard hit the North East. Our flight was the only one that did get out that day (to Boston) and that left around 8:00 PM. Just keep this in mind Summation: I pointed out a lot of things that seemed negative. That was more for readers to understand what we found notable. Things that would have been nice to know when booking the trip. We had a great time, would go again and would recommend it. We went for 5 days.. I could see staying for another night but after that I think we would have reached

Great experience!

My husband & I visited Riu Antillas with my mother for her first all inclusive experience and we all left thoroughly impressed. The facilities were very accessible and accommodating, the rooms were nice and well kept, and the beach was truly beautiful. The food and drinks- endless and delicious! Our favorite component of the trip was the hospitality - everyone was wonderful but we especially liked the interactions and service we received at Atlantis with Kaldon and Jessica, and Mery at that Aqua bar. For a family or couples visit to One Happy Island, Riu Antillas is a fantastic trip.

Fourth RIU Level of Hospitality is great

This is the fourth RIU we have stayed at. This one is Adults Only and that is nice as my wife and I kids are grown. That being said..... Stay at the Palace next door. Just a little nicer. RIU purchased the RIU antillas from another hotel and while the staff were 100 percent RIU it just lacked a bit. Dated and not There yet . Great Location. We stayed way up and on the South side of the hotel. NO NEIGHBORS on that side only a empty lot and a one story police station. pool was nice . great trail up and down the beach. food and drink to RIU expectations
