Wow Great value right on the beach! Hotel Staff excellent, service excellent and plenty to do and see. Our seven day all inclusive stay was more than we expected for the low cost of this beautiful resort. I always bring at least $100 in one dollar bills for tipping due to the RIU under paying its employees, I wish this company understood the value they have in there staff!!!!!! We kayaked every day, and also went on 2 excursions one with the hotel and one private had a blast on both. The beach vendors are funny and pushy which is part of the fun, we got to know them all! and did get some great deals, please support the locals. The excursion company Scuba Caribe Watersports was great! Hi Charice!!!!! unfortunately the do not maintain there equipment at all! however staff was excellent. Every morning we sat with Patrice for breakfast (love Her) Remember this is an all inclusive but please take care of the Staff don't be cheap!!! More>

We had a wonderful vacation, beautiful resort not too big. The rooms are clean and very spacious, we had the first building on the ground floor so very convenient to restaurants and pool. We found the food very good, buffet was fresh choices and great omelettes for breakfast every morning. The entertainers were ok but not much to do at night after 9. Beach was big and the sand so white loved it but keep in mind it's a public beach and the vendors drove us crazy calling us to see their wares. I also found the pool so hot and not refreshing so we kept to the beach for a cool swim. Overall I really enjoyed staying at this resort and would have been perfect if it was a private beach it really got tiring after a few days listening to the sellers. More>

Sitting at the Airport now, my husband and I just stayed for 10 days at the Rui Negril. It was absolutely lovely, rooms and facilities were very good. The star rating is spot on for this hotel. There are 3 pools for you to sit around. The one with the pool bar is the noisiest so avoid it if you want to be left alone by the entertainment team. The beach is lovely and the water is warm but now a 'carribean' as you think, however far better than the UK ones so not complaining at all. The entertainment team work extremely hard at trying to make your stay a fun, relaxed and welcome one. ' Spotlight' being such a lovely knowledgeable guy. After about 5/6 days we were pretty fooded out and eating became more of a chore! Beware the food is very salty! There are 4 A la carte restaurants to visit but sadly these were a let down for us. The Food not really being anything different to what you can get in the general buffer. There was no choice of wines either and the ones they serve were not to our tast The atmosphere is so relaxing so if thats what you are looking for then this is a great hotel. The hotel staff could not be more helpful and courteous. And finally... We made some fantastic new friends so all good. Yea Mon!!! More>

Nice hotel, but not 5*

Hotel was clean and friendly, we stayed in block 1 after requesting it via email. Both restaurant and buffet food was nice, staff were always friendly and didn't expect tips. Pool areas also very clean with plenty of beds. My only issues was there was no waiter service round pool areas and no tea or coffee in your room. I have stayed in other 5 star hotels in Jamaica and this service is always provided. Our TV picture was very poor and I contacted reception four times to get this resolved, each time getting a different response. The picture was never fixed. It would not put me off returning to this hotel. More>

7 Days

I just got back from Negril yesterday, after a long OK vacation at Riu Palace. The bus ride from the airport to the resort was the worst ride ever, 30 mins into the ride, we got a flat tire (supposedly). The driver decided to continue driving and finally arrived to Negril 3.5 hours later. Front Desk Service was good, they upgraded me to an oceanview room. As soon as we arrived to the room, there was broken glass in the fridge and the one of the bottles in the bar was broken. Room Service got it fixed right away. Since we arrived after 10pm, there wasn't any restaurants open, the dinner buffet closes at 10pm but we did hangout in the 24-hour lobby bar. Restaurants were not so great, lots of food to eat but no flavor. The beef and chicken patties were great, breakfast was awesome everyday. There was only 1 lunch buffet and a jerk chicken hut open till 3ish, they start packing up after 3pm. Dinner had 1 buffet option or had to make reservations for Steak House, Italian, Japanese or Fusion. After 2 days, realized that the desserts that were left over for dinner were given the next day for lunch buffet, which tasted horrible, NOT fresh. Dinner buffets had fresh desserts, the mains changed everyday which was nice. Overall for food, I enjoyed breakfast and dinner only, lunch wasn't so good...fact that I lost weight shows how good the food was! Restaurant service was good, the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and accommodating, however I noticed they all expected a TIP. They would do anything and everything for a simple TIP, which made me feel obligated to tip every single time (extra $200 just for tips). They would stand and wait to see if you are leaving a tip or not, if you don't, the next day they wont even look at you! There was snacks and fruits available after 10pm as late night snack, which stunk and was not fresh...left overs from dinner. They say 24 hour snack service but nothing really edible is available after 10pm, unless you pack something from dinner and keep it in your room. Drinks were available 24-7....overall 4 our of 5 for restaurant service. Room Service was great, they would do your room morning and night time, at your request. The washrooms, plumbing system is old, you had to flush the toilet twice and would need to wait 1 min inbetween....my toilet flooded twice. Bathtubs were clean but got clogged fast. On my last night, I had a 1.5 inch cockroach in the room, which FLYS!!!! It flew on my face while I was sleeping and ruined my entire sleep that night. The next day room service cleaned up the dead roach...IM NOT A BUG PERSON!!! September is the season for bugs, centipedes, bullfrogs ..etc to come out...especially when you have eat in your room. Overall, room service was good....4 our of 5!!! Beach, bars and drinks were great. The beach is a open beach so anyone can walk down the beach, which wasn't nice. There were so many local business people walking down back and forth asking to buy things...you couldn't enjoy the beach without getting harassed at least 5 times within an hour. Ocean is clear and beautiful, sand is white and gorgeous...lots of activities to do with a price. Everything is money in Jamaica, and if one guy gives you 1 price, the other will give you a cheaper price. On my first day, 1 guy told me $60 for water tubing, on my last day I ended up paying $10...so make sure you bargain as much as you can, eventually they will give in. Everyone at the resort or even outside of the resort are out to hustle you and make money off you. Do not allow them to put a bracelet on you, or sing a song for you...because it cost money!!! The place is full of mosquitos, take a lot of bug repellent...morning or night they are all over. Can't hang out on the beach without mosquito repellent...horrible!!!!! In the night time, place is full of cats running around. The pools were great but not much activities to do....nightly entertainment stopped at 10pm, same thing every night. Not a place for young people to party.....definitely a place for older age that likes to go to bed early at 11pm.....overall I give it a 3 our of 5 for the experience. Would I go here again, NO!
