OMG where do I start!! Amazing holiday amazing people amazing hotel best holiday yet!!! Hotel was relatively small compared to other Riu hotels we have stayed at but our room was in Block 1 which is the best position near to all restaurants & reception we were in Room 1217 2nd floor with a fabulous view of the ocean. Room was clean & spacious & our maid was sooo lovely (kamika). Optics in the room too. The beach is long & not too wide with heaps of sunbeds for everyone. There are 2 pools one is the swim up pool bar & where the water polo & pool games are held the other pool is much quieter. The entertainments team are fabulous ' Starboy' is amazing along with all the other entertainers. The lobby bar at night has a singing barman called 'Paul' & he is brilliant. You can take a safe leisurely walk along the beach to the Riu Palace along the stretch of beach are incredibly colourful market stalls and you don't get pestered by the sellers. There is a presence of locals selling all sorts of cigarettes & other smoking substances, I never have & never will try anything such like but those that do cause absolutely no harm & as it's legal to possess 2oz you can smell ganja almost everywhere in the air in Jamaica (what's goes on in Jamaica stays in Jamaica!!!) There is a fully stocked beach bar cocktails included & friendly staff another not to be missed is the Jerk chicken shack the hotel have on the beach omg it's lush!!! We booked a taxi from the stand just inside the main entrance & we had a fabulous tour guide/driver called James who has lived in Negril all his life & knows the island inside out so booking him as your own personal guide he took us on a trip to Black river boat trip and we saw crocodiles & then into Y's falls where he arranged a guide at the falls to keep us safe when swimming as its very rocky take beach shoes not flip flops. James then stopped off on the way home for us to try a Jamaican patti. We booked a party boat trip on the catamaran with Scuba Carib they are situated on the beach to the left of the hotel, we got picked up at 12.30 (you wade in the sea to the boat be prepared!) we set off to have a fab swim in the caves & some snorkelling, then onto Rick's Cafe & rum punch then we stopped on way home at Margaretaville and eventually back to hotel at 6.30pm dancing all the way to reggae music on board This was the best holiday ever & cannot wait to go again next year especially straight after New Year celebrations

Friendly staff, good food choices, clean and comfortable rooms. We were there for a destination wedding and enjoyed our time but wouldn't rush back to this RIU. The evening entertainment is somewhat cheesy but the performers try hard. The music whether by the pool or the evening entertainment is always loud but is geared more for the younger to middle age crowd than older fork like me.

So after reading review as many of us do these days I was a little uneasy about it. I really wasn't sure what to expect! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were treated with the up most respect from the hotel staff. This included the Beauticians, Entertainment staff(loved these) cleaning staff, bar staff and those that do an impeccable job in the main dining hall! My Partner and I travelled from 17-31 Dec. The coach journey was a little painful but after such a long flight that was to be expected. It didn't help matters a family was actually confused about where there were staying!! But we got to the hotel in one piece! The hotel was pretty quiet for our first few days and I think were a little spoilt but all the same everyone was really polite! The amount of people in the hotel itself had pretty much tripled in size by Christmas Eve. Christmas was out of this world!! The nativity, singers, dancers, champagne reception and to top off the Beauty and the Beast ShowTime!! Words cannot describe how fantastic the buffet looked!! I had a roast beef dinner it was amazing!!! The FOOD-The main buffet was amazing!! How anyone complained is beyond me!! Apparently when some people travel to an all inclusive they leave their manners at home. We were shocked on how disrespectful some guest were to the staff in the food hall. It might be a polite reminder to some people that this is a huge complex and should appreciate the huge effort the staff go to, to adhere to all needs. The water/beer/wine and soft drink were just as accessible unless your hands and feet suddenly disappear with your manners! I know well like to over indulge a little on holidays but sometimes I would see plates and plates full of food just being left on the table!! Especially in the morning!! The nicety of a buffet is that you can go as often as you like!!! Be courteous the great amount of work put in by the chefs. The Asian, steak house and Italian! All were amazing food!!!! Maybe as a luxury give out set times maybe 1 for each of the A La Carte's.The queuing didn't bother most until our Actual Christmas Day experience in the Asian. The staff were doing their best as it was super busy and they were trying to look after the amount of people waiting. There was a rude large group of people (6-8) that had gone to sit in and was eating. Behind us in the queue were the partners and children of said party, the ones that had initially sat down to eat thought it would be ok to just collect another member of their family, give them their chair to eat and stand behind them whilst eating like animals!! (this was the biggest annoyance I had!!) This wasn't any of the staff's fault just the manners and ignorance of the gusts in question. I complained once I noticed what they were doing but I think the front of house staff felt a little stuck. I also complained to my REP but never heard anything back. Oh the Jerk Chicken shack is a must!! Very yummy!! The guy worked hard!! The sports bar was awesome when you needed that popcorn at the end of a night or a little snack!! The ROOM-just fabulous!! Clean and tidy! The room attendants were great and we had a towel competition! Which I am sure amused then greatly!! Loved using the optics to have a little drink before going out!! I would have liked a little more water in the room but when we asked they delivered. We wish there was a Kettle(My BF loves a good strong tea in a morning) but it wasn't a great drama!! It wasn't too far regarding of what block you were in to the nearest food/drink place! The beach was great!! Once you got over the fact the people on the beach wanted to sell you something and they weren't rude just trying to make a living. Never struggled for a bed!! The water was lovely!! The Entertainment Staff- These were the hardest working I had ever seen Star boy, Happy feet, Spot Light and King Burger(bestest)!! Loved them all just couldn't remember the names . Roly Poly was the only female that really interacted with us but we weren't offended!! They worked all hours constant entertainment and had so much fun!! The Show times were great Michael Jackson, Africa night, white party, Reggae night Beauty and the Beast just amazing!! I sent the Videos from Christmas Eve to our friends celebrating in Thailand and they loved it!!. The band we saw maybe 4 or 5 times in 2 weeks but that's fine :-) Thank you for the best Christmas ever!!! Facilities-Unfortunately for me every time I went in to the shops in the hotel I always experienced rude staff! Didn't appreciate the way they spoke to you!! My first encounter was when my partner and I had 20 dollars to by a little present for Christmas day. When I went in to look I liked the S&P Jamaican coloured pots that were hugging. Sadly I dropped one half, the lady was extremely rude to me regarding the whole situation! When I went to pay by card one time they snapped that they needed photo ID to support this (maybe put a sign up on the glass door as a few people were frustrated with this)! My last day I needed lady products and on a $2 purchase they made it $3 with tax! Being asked every time to donate money to charity wasn't pleasant!! This made me feel that when they would tell me one price then give less change than expecting, they would take money off you anyway! It was infuriating!! Hated the fact they charged you at the cash point to take money out!! But they do at home too so not an issue! Used the Gym that was great!! Nice to burn off a few calories!! Great range of equipment!! The Beauty place was lovely, had my nails done. They do tout quite a bit but they don't earn if they don't get customers which is sad to hear!! Did the Ricks café day trip had a great day. We were fortunate that there was only 19 people on there!! The staff were great, the lady who gave us the Shots when getting on the boat had a great booty!! haha! and Stunner arranged all for us!! Thank you!! We used the paddle boats too! Great treat!! Hotel& Pools-The grounds and pool were kept really clean majority of the time. The pool with the swim up bar seemed a little dirty a couple of times when it was really busy. But it didn't put us off! A lovely lady called Maria who was a toilet attendant was a really pleasant lady! She had a tough job as it was apparent many have different levels of cleanliness when it came to using the toilets in the main lobby!! Well done Maria!! Loved the Guy who sang in the lobby bar!! He was pretty amazing!! One of the highlights!! My overall holiday was superb thank you for a great Christmas!! I was really sad leaving on New Year’s Eve as I could see effort was going in from early morning to make it a special night!! Last point to add, for those that are travelling from the USA or surrounding there, please note that for us travelling from EU it is luxury and pay a lot of money for this kind of service! Maybe take that in to consideration when taking things for granted!

Beaches for days & Negril Nights!

So before this I was hooked on Cuba, but Negril may have spoiled that for me! What a gorgeous place, from the people, to the beaches and night life! Riu didn't disappoint, what an outstanding property. Our room was 50 feet from the sand and where we set up during the day. Beautiful water, especially if you go towards Palace. This said, you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't take in 7 mile beach (simply amazing) The best way to sample 7 mile is the catamaran, to scope it out early in the trip. Then pick your spots and spend a day or two there! Ricks Cafe is a must!! Such a cool bar, compete with cliff jumping. Margaritaville has the nicest beach I've ever been in. You just have to see it! The food was as good as I've had at AI's. Lobster, crab and a good selection and this kids happy! I even managed to get them to raise a large Winnipeg Jets banner in their sports bar! I hope it still stands, too ummm "spirited" to grab a pic. The service was top notch. Bar staff friendly and great. Even my first experience of nice front desk staff, very helpful. The best (as usual) part of the staff were the hard working entertainment staff! So friendly and welcoming, even showed us some night life in Negril! An out of this world dance hall concert, and some crazy beach parties! As usual we met some amazing people from all over. All in all I'll be back to Negril to see much more of it!

Better than the last time!!!!

WOW, they have totally renovated the check in area and restaurants and painted the outside of the buildings! This was my 5th time at this resort and was totally pleased with the renovations. They even added an additional pool, which is quite nice. The food was a lot better now with the hot items being hot and the cold being cold. The specialty restaurants do not require reservations anymore, however if you wanted to eat at the 6:30 pm dinner you better be in line by 6:00. Once again a lot of the regulars we saw still remembered us, how awesome is that since we haven't been here in over two years!!!!! The jerk hut on the beach is a must, BEST Jerk chicken you will ever have!!! I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone.
