Hotel advertises 4 restaurants including the buffet. We stayed 9 nights and the Mexican and Asian restaurants were closed half of the time. Apparently, the hotel was only at 48% capacity.

Stayed her the first week of January and truly enjoyed it. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the resort is well maintained and the pool and beach area was the best, especially the beach. We actually enjoyed the Buffet restaurant the best, very good food and a large selection. Our only complaint is this place does not offer room service and there is no coffee maker in the rooms. We stayed in room 889, very nice but if you want to sit on the deck inthe morning and enjoy a cup of coffe you must go down 8 floors, make your own cup of coffee and then return back up the 8 floors. This is a minor complaint but to wake up to a great view it's nice to set and relax for a few moments. Overall we loved our stay and do recommend the Riu Caribe.

The bed was terribly uncomfortable and the food not nearly as good as other places weve stayed in Mexico. We will not return to this resort but thankful for the beach/pool and sun. Staff was excellent. Hotel didnt seem as clean in the past places

They should heat the swimming pools. If the pools or at least one of the pools should be heated. It was on the cold side.

Frontier Airlines cancelled our flight out of St. Louis on 11/15/18. Very disappointing especially since other flights at 6:30am were not cancelled. Apple will not pay us for the missed night at the Hotel we were charged. We have the travel insurance so we must fight to get refund through them. Flight never should have been cancelled. I have 2 complaints about the resort. With the exception of the breakfast buffet and the Pizza shack by pool, the food was terrible. You lose all sun at this property by 4pm due to the position and height of building. Everyone has to keep moving their chairs to try to stay in sun. We will not return to this hotel for these 2 reasons. Hotel was very clean and our room 405 view was great.

The Riu Palace Peninsula was wonderful! We were especially impressed with how often the hotel was cleaned. Every time someone left a bathroom stall, staff would immediately go in and clean. The hotel floors were constantly being mopped. We had 4 bottles of liquor in our room plus a stacked refrigerator with water, soda and beer. When you'd run out of something, the hotel staff would immediately hand you another. Never at a loss for bottles of water or Pina Coladas :-) The Entertainment team was fantastic! There was something for everyone! Danny, the fitness instructor, was top notch!! Excellent classes!! There were plenty of seats around the pool. Not as many on the beach since the beach is pretty rocky but all the fun was at the pool so it was perfect. Would highly recommend the Riu Palace Peninsula!!

Last minute booking to celebrate mine and my brothers birthday. I must say the staff went above and beyond to make my birthday memorable! The hotel is very dated and needs to be upgraded. However the rooms were very clean and housekeeping was very attentive. The food was very good and the hotel staff could not have been more warm and welcoming! The hotel is very easy to navigate. And the beach is well maintained.

Wonderful vacation with no problems !

Before I booked this resort I read a lot of mixed reviews but my entire experience at the Riu Caribe was amazing! The resort was always clean, all the staff where super friendly and greeted you as you walked by, the Riu Fun Staff where especially energetic and I highly suggest participating in their stretching / dance lessons on the beach, the water aerobics and the water volleyball; it made my vacation more entertaining for sure! The food at the resort was very good they had a bunch of different selections at the buffet, the steakhouse was the best in my opinion, and the pizzeria beside the quiet pool might of been good but we waited 20 minutes for them to give our pizza to a couple sitting closer even though I acknowledged them calling my name (only downside to the food portion of the resort). Some previous reviews mentioned that their safe didn’t work in their room which made me very nervous, we found the trick to the safe is not to open it and close it too many times in a row or it doesn’t lock, so when we had to access something in the safe we just left it open until we left or we went to bed and it worked perfectly fine. My boyfriend and I also took the public bus ($1USD or 83 Pesos) and visited the sister resort the Riu Cancun, as I was torn between choosing which one I wanted to book at. I was very happy after I saw that the reviews about there not being any sun loungers available if you didn’t get there early enough at the Riu Cancun was true, we lounged in the pool loungers, explored the resort, and then left shortly after and never went back. The Riu Cancun would be good if you went with a group and planned on partying, while the Riu Caribe is more of a family friendly resort that never felt crowded and always had sun loungers around the pool and at the beautiful beach. Overall it was worth what you pay and I was very happy with my experience and decision to stay at the Riu Caribe !

Food was so-so. Nothing special ! The people at towel booth rip people off. Take people to snorkel when red flags were out. Cab drivers also take advantage. Don't go to WAL MART!!!!! Waiters were awesome people. They are just the little people.

Mixed bag but mainly good!

Stayed at RiU Caribe in January 2019 for 2 weeks, initial first impressions were really good! Lovely open, airy hotel with bright modern decor, lots of space, choice of bars and variety of restaurants, 2 pool areas with plenty of sun-beds & umbrellas (1 huge pool and a smaller 'quiet' pool) The beach is fantastic, pure white sand & clear blue sea, perfect! The staff worked tirelessly each day to remove the seaweed from the shoreline, this in my opinion is above & beyond! Beach towels are provided using a token system. Rooms are bright, spacious and spotlessly clean with beautiful views of the pool, beach and ocean, balcony size depends on the type of room you have. We had 2 queen size beds which were comfy and bedding changed regularly, the maids left a towel animal and flower petals on the beds most day which was a lovely touch. Bathrooms are modern and clean with an amazing shower and plenty of towels! Rooms have all that you need, great wardrobe space (with plenty of hangers!), chest of drawers, safe (no additional charge), iron, ironing board, flat screen TV, tables, chairs, hairdryer, fully stocked fridge (water, beer, Sprite, Pepsi etc) and 4 optics (gin, rum, vodka, tequila) both regularly re-stocked and if they weren't we just rang reception and they sorted it! Wifi is also free (1 device per person) it was really good, we never lost signal and it is also available on the beach, by pools etc which was great, reception give you a code during check-in along with information about restaurants, facilities etc. The food was fabulous, fresh and well cooked with lots of variety and choice. There is a main buffet restaurant, a poolside buffet/bar, pizzeria by the quiet pool, snacks (nachos, burgers, sandwiches, toasties etc) in the sports bar (open 24hrs) and 3 speciality restaurants (Mexican, Asian and Steakhouse) you could eat all day & night if you really wanted to!! The staff at RiU Caribe are amazing, from cleaners to bar staff, waiting staff, maintenance staff and entertainment team, they all work so hard and the service is exceptional! On the downside the biggest problem with this hotel is the noise! The entertainment in the main lobby is really loud due to the high ceilings, you can't hear yourself think if you sit in this area in the evening. The large pool area has ongoing activities and constant music blaring (on a loop so the same songs over and over again!) this is great if that's your thing but there is nowhere to chill out and escape the constant noise! You can hear the music on the beach (from RiU Caribe and the hotel next door as well as from guests who think it's ok to blast their stereos! Even the 'quiet pool' wasn't quiet! It was not peaceful or relaxing in that respect. Also due to the hotel not being full capacity the 3 speciality restaurants were all closed for the second week of our holiday, we only tried the Mexican restaurant as we thought we'd have chance to try the others later in our stay, so unable to try others, there was no prior warning so you could forward plan , just a 'sorry closed' sign each night, we did complain to the TUI rep who agreed this wasn't acceptable and that the communication was also poor, as a good will gesture they offered to pay for a restaurant meal in town which was very much appreciated. We had a great time (despite the weather!) the RiU Caribe was good value for money, it is a really nice hotel with fantastic customer service, they really can't do enough for you, but the noise for me was a deal breaker, my personal preference is a less chaotic vibe so I'll stick to the Carribean in future!

First time staying. Nice resort hotel type. Food was good staff very friendly. Noisy with the entertainment in the evening if staying on lower floors. Biggest complaint is the ice, the ice machine on our floor left a scum on the bucket in the room when you seen it the next day . We did not notice it the first couple days.we went to front desk to let them know. We were assured they would get maintenance to look after it four days later nothing. Started getting our ice from lobby bar. Then found scum on that ice. Could be reason why we are both sick now at the end of our two week vacation. We have stayed at riu before. So very surprised by this.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here food was good and the service was excellent and they are constantly cooking the hot food re-filling trays so it does not lie for ages in tray. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We went of a few excursions Captain Hook Itate Ship was really good great fun. Most excursions are around 80 dollars some others bit more expensive. The speedboat trip is fun and you can drive your own speedboat yourself with the guide at the front boat and you just follow him. We booked through Tui at the hotel but if you book through the guys at where you get your towels for sunbeds they are a cheaper and very organised. Room cleaned every day. If you want to go into town the bus is always running constantly and about a dollar each bus fare. Only thing is when you go into town you are constantly pestered to buy stuff at the shops except if you go into the indoor shopping Centre. The entertainment at the pool is constant and brilliant and they do games for the kids at pool. The entertainment team are very professional and work hard to entertain you and are very friendly. They have foam party and pool every week that is brilliant. They have a beach party too every week. The beach is very clean and they always tidy it up all the time. In our they supply you with optics with drink and they fill your fridge up with diet pepsi and 7 up and bottled water every two days including the alcohol if you want more. There is a wee shop about 5 mins walk to the left of the hotel where you can buy a pack of cigarettes for about 3dollars Benson &Hedges style. The shop is called OXO . Overall we could not fault Riu Caribe and would thoroughly recomend it. We would definitely come back here 👍😊😎.
