Flamingos!

We had a great stay in the Renaissance Aruba Ocean Suites! The downtown location made it a little quieter than where the high-rise hotels are. The Renaissance has a private island accessed by a quick boat ride. Flamingos roam freely on the adult-only side. The pools and lagoon are very nice. The staff were very friendly! We had some issues with our room. Gerardo, the hotel manager, was very quick to make things right! I would recommend to anyone!

Great location, nice extras.

I liked the "downtown" location away from all the beachfront hotels. This hotel/resort includes two main blocks of rooms. One is an adult high rise with high end shops, lobby pool and bar across from the marina. Across the street is the casino and many restaurants and some little shops. Just past that is another block of "family" rooms, and a beautiful private beach. Both places have a little boat dock with boats that will take you to the resort's private island which is a must do. There is a restaurant, nice beach area with flamingoes roaming the beach. I talked to a local later who said he had never seen flamingoes on the main island. I got a picture of 5 of them in a row right up by all the people. I stayed in the high rise and had meetings in the other part by the private beach. It was all lovely. There is a Starbucks in the lobby of the high rise that was never that busy. Another one in the Marketplace across the street. Tell them you have a Sbux card and you get 10% discount. Also by some other shops like Zara. Try the little bar, Chaos a couple blocks down the road where there is music on Saturday nights but it doesn't start until 11:30 pm. Good food and live music at the Cuba's Cooking in the Marketplace. The one drawback was that the room could get a lot of noise. There was a party bus that parked under my 4th floor window in the middle of the night a few times a night where all the patrons in the bus would yell and cheer and wake me up. Also heard neighbors talking all night till about 4 am. one night. During the flip flop festival, they had music in the lobby pool area on Sunday. It was fun while we wanted to be there, but when I was in my room trying to rest the music was so loud that it shook the whole building. Otherwise, a great stay and I would definitely stay there again!

It is tough to write a review when you are in a tropical paradise for business. The hotel lobby and pool area are nice. The rooms themselves are worn and in need for a facelift. The carpet was stained and curtain needed cleaning. I was promptly moved to another room. Rooms were quiet though could not hear the pool or street noise. Seems like they are short staffed as the front desk area was always busy and hard to get thru by phone. Its very close to shopping and restaurants.

One word - Incredible

Four of us stayed at the Renaissance Marina Adult Only from April 18th-April 25th and ranged in age from 24 to 63. I cannot say enough about this resort. It doesn't matter if you're a beach lover, shopper, foodie, adventurous, or just looking to sit by the pool and have some drinks, this resort has something for everyone. To begin, the private island is INCREDIBLE. The flamingos are beautiful and there are iguanas running about everywhere. The water is clear and calm, and the beaches were never too busy which was perfect! The boat rides to and from the island were also fun and you never had to wait too long for a shuttle to pick you up (max 15-20 minutes). The hotel itself is kept very clean, and it is evident that staff at the bar, especially BLUE bar, are always trying to accommodate your needs and keep you happy and hydrated. The people on the island are accommodating and so friendly. I've travelled all through the Caribbean, and this by far was my favourite destination. We returned back home from Aruba yesterday, and we have just re-booked to go back on December 5th. We LOVE Renaissance and are so grateful for the wonderful vacation they provided us with. Here are some tips before you go: - We brought US currency (we are from Canada), and it was accepted everywhere (although change was usually given in Florin) - Wear high SPF sunscreen! You'll need it! - Do an excursion to see the other parts of the island. You will not regret it! - We found Aruba to be incredibly safe. We left the resort every single day and even walked through local cities outside of Oranjestad. In fact, when we were trying to find a McDonalds, a local gentleman off the resort offered to WALK US THERE and even sat and ate McDonalds with us! How nice is that? - Go out and explore the resort casino, and seaport casino. The Renaissance Marketplace is amazing as well! - Food on the island is reasonably priced (better than we anticipated). We rarely ate on the resort itself, but ate quite often at the Renaissance Marketplace. On average, we spent $10-$13 on breakfast, $10-$15 on lunch, and $20-$30 on dinner (not including drinks). Of course, if you so choose, there are places that offer cheaper, and more expensive food depending on what you want to eat. Hint - check out Casa Tua in the Marketplace! They have great pasta and pizza. - Always take in happy hour! Who doesn't like cheaper drinks??? All in all, we had a great time. Buy some Flamingo food, sit back and enjoy the scenery.
