My wife and I stayed here for 10 days while on a business trip to Aruba. The location is right in the center of town with a high end mall attached to the Marina hotel. The room was nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The real winner is Renaissance Island the hotels private island. It is absolutely incredible, a real paradise and despite going during the high season the island's beaches weren't overcrowded in the least bit. It was a nice alternative to the busy crowds at the other beaches. Complete with a bar and restaurant and activities the island is an amazing oasis. A fun 10min boat ride away from the hotel the island is amazing. The boat shuttles you from inside the hotel and runs every fifteen minutes. Will be back!

Another Great Week at the Renaissance

Just returned from a week staying at the Renaissance Ocean Suites using a friends timeshare January 13-20. We stayed in the same room on the 5th floor facing the ocean/pool 2 years ago and were happy to see that the chairs on the balcony had been replaced with much more comfortable ones. We always spend 1-2 hours every morning enjoying the view on the balcony and the old chairs were so uncomfortable. We also liked the improvements made to the bar and pool area. When sitting at the pool bar there is now a unobstructed view of the ocean which was great since we spent a lot of time there. I was sad to see that a lot of palm trees had been removed around the pool but it really did improve our view from the balcony. It looked like more shade areas were also added which we appreciated since we always sit in the shade. Staff at the pool bar was great as always. Glad to see happy hour was changed from buy one get one free to half price. The bar staff wasn't tied up making 2 drinks for everyone and your second drink didn't get watered down while drinking the first one. No issues with housekeeping, always had clean towels and toiletries were re-stocked every day. Room has a coffee maker with coffee/filter packs but I brought my own since last time I was left with only decaf coffee twice. Only regret is that I did not take my own coffee cup, the cups supplied are really small. Room is a good size with separate sleeping area, kitchen area and living room, which we never used and 2 separate closets and dressers. Bathroom is large enough for 2 people to get ready at the same time. Only went to the private island once this trip and it was one of the days it poured down raining, at the end of our visit. Since last trip they added a bar to the adult side which was great, but we could not find any chairs so we ended up staying on the family side. There were not a lot of kids on the family side but we sat out on the side of the lagoon and it was perfectly quiet, except for the occasional plane landing/taking off. Overall seemed as though hotel occupancy was down all over the island. Talking to staff at the nearby restaurants and they also confirmed it was a slow week and talked to several people staying on Eagle Beach and they said the same thing, that one hotel was only 50% full, which was great for us. We went to Palm Beach 3-4 times and the only time it was a little crowded was when 2 cruise ships were in port. But we were still able to walk into Bugaloe and Pelican Pier bar and always find a seat. If you like mojito's, try the frozen mojito at the Pelican Pier bar. Getting a taxi at hotel was never an issue and only had to wait a few minutes to catch the golf cart to the Marina Hotel. I love the location of this hotel with all the restaurant choices right next door and it's just a short walk to downtown. I would not hesitate to stay here again, it's so quiet and relaxing and the staff has always been great. Only downside is that we could only get the WiFi to work one day, hotel said it was working so it may have just been an issue with our carrier, I'm on vacation so not a big deal, I just waited to post pictures to Facebook when we found free WiFi elsewhere on the island.

Didn't became my favourite

After spending a great day on Renaissance Island in August (we were guests of another hotel) we have decided to come back to the Renaissance Hotel as their guests to be able to fully enjoy their marvellous island and the busy night life of the town. We came back in the second week of November, which supposed to be the beginning of the high season, but the hotel was surprisingly airy. We had the telephone number of the reservation office, which is closed in the evening, therefore we were unable to reach the reception, the lines were not forwarded and we couldn't arrange a pick up at the airport (silly me, I didn't ask it in advance). The design of the hotel is modern eclectic, but the colours look like everything is dirty, such a shame to choose such an unfortunate colour scheme. Our room got to the inner yard of the hotel, with perfect sound insulation and - as we wanted to spend the whole day on the private island - perfectly fit to our plans. The beds are very comfortable, I also bought the bathrobe (65 USD) to take it home. It is very soft and heavy thanks to its double layer. Disappointments: the central carpet at the Reception was so dirty, I almost couldn't see the pattern and the pool area was in an extremely bad condition. Towels and sun beds are falling apart, and in the afternoon there is no chance to find a place in the shadow. We loved the laud music played by a DJ in the evenings, be prepared for that if you are not fun of house music. Not everybody was delighted. Bar services were very kind and efficient whole day long. Thank you Nelson ! The most disappointing part of the hotel was the breakfast restaurant. I was freezing (in Europe we don't turn the AC to maximum) and even though the smell of food was awful. I just had to shower and change again after breakfast to get rid of the oily smell from my hair and clothes. The private island is still wonderful but in the adults part there is hardly any shadow to find, therefore impossible to enjoy the place more than 2 (dangerous) hours on the sun. We ended up in the family beach under the palms, surrounded by kids. The central location of the hotel is really good, if this is what you are searching for, this is not a quiet beach hotel. We walked around in the city and liked the tram passing behind the hotel. It is a beautiful piece, worth a ride.

My husband and I travel a lot and this was our first time to Aruba. I loved so many things about it and the hotel The rooms were modern, our view was not great , the private island made this hotel. The food was great, we did the All Inclusive, it was a bit of a pain with giving the room key every time I wanted something. The food was great , the staff was ok, the housecleaning was great I would recommend this hotel

Not value for money.

Is a nice 3 stars Hotel. But very expensive. The hotel rooms aren't comfortable. Small . You don't want to stay at the room. The pool area is very nice. . The private island is beautiful. But you don't feel that you are in a beach. Looks artificial. They charge you for non motors activities. This must be free!! Before I stayed at Ritz Carlton and was much better. At Renaissance is nicer the pool than Ritz. All the rest is better Ritz. Staff is nice. In General all Aruba people are very nice and friendly. Concierge so so, I ask for jet ski. She told me that walking distance we have one. I walk and nothing. Later somebody told me there is only one beach allowed to do motor activities and was 10 minutes ride by taxi. Thanks José
