I always have thought that Quinta Real is overpriced but for Zacatecas and Guadalajara places, the rest can not maintain standards as a super premium hotel. Slow service, very dedicated though, nice rooms but you´ll have to go downstairs like 15 minutes to reach the beach. Going up you have to ask for the Open air mini van to take you up or walk uphill like 25 minutes. A good hotel thta the price does not reflect what you receive.

What a perfect stay

After a few very grueling months at work, we wanted a vacation spot where we could both completely relax and find fun and interesting things to do. Huatulco seemed to be the spot and the Quinta Real Huatulco looked like the right lodging. We could not have been more accurate on both accounts. The Quinta Real Huatulco is a 20 minute ride from the airport and a 7 minute ride from Las Crucecita....but the location is singularly spectacular. When you arrive from the street, you think that the hotel is there. However, the driver waits at the gates to be cleared past and then begins a winding ascent up a steep hill. Vistas of the valley appear as you climb and it is beautiful. When you arrive at the top, there is a giant palapa with a door that frames the central fountain and a view of the ocean from high on the hill that is breath-taking. The staff greets you with a cold towel and a frozen treat from the pastry shop to revive after the trip. The hotel staff is so very professional, kind, committed and - you can tell from the very first genuine smile to the last - proud to work there. Our room was one of the bungalows suspended on the cliff, with a balcony - with a hammock and chairs - that looked directly over the bay and a winding staircase that led down to a small infinity pool for a daytime soak that was in the midst of the jungle so that you could see the parrots and hawks flying and hear the crashing waves in the ocean. We had a jacuzzi for two, a shower, a very comfortable bed (not the typical rock hard bed for Mexico). At night, the stars in the sky seemed to dance in front of our eyes over the sea. Housekeeping was impeccable. The grounds of the hotel were immaculate. From our bungalow, you could walk to the restaurant and bar easily. You could also follow the winding path through the grounds that take you to a large infinity pool and daytime restaurant on the ocean's edge and, just below the pool is a beautiful beach with little palapa sand chairs to enjoy the sea. We ate a delicious breakfast each day. The pastries are fresh and delicious and breakfast was large and filling for a day of adventure. We found the more traditional Oaxacan cuisine to be better choices. So many things I can say, but the hotel itself, the pristine condition of the grounds and the room, the friendly and appropriately helpful staff, the amenities like a private pool and amazing view from a balcony that compels you to linger, and the prime location to participate in other activities from dinner in town, jungle and waterfall tours, or a longer car ride to Chachaga Lagunes are only a few reasons you should consider this hotel. Not the cheapest - but not the most expensive - and worth every peso.

The Most Extraordinary Wedding Location

I've resisted writing this review because I want to keep this place a secret... but, it was too great an experience to not honor the hotel with a rave review. From the initial communication with Claudia, the wedding coordinator, to planning every aspect of the week of our wedding, to renting out the entire hotel, to filling it with our loved ones, to the actual wedding day- every possible detail was covered. The generosity of the staff of the hotel goes beyond anything I've ever experienced. We were truly cared for and treated like royalty. Things to know: this is a destination for those not looking for your average "Spring Break" experience in Mexico, but rather an elegant escape into a sophisticated aerie above a bay. You should really brush up on your Spanish if you plan to stay here (and you should after all, since you are IN a Spanish speaking country) as most of the staff (but not all) do not speak English. For weddings, Quinta Real offers various packages and have a list of local vendors to work with from florists to mariachi bands. They cater the meal(s) for the wedding all in-house, giving you the option to taste-test and choose a menu in advance. I've seen reviews saying the food isn't good - but I really have to disagree, it's delicious! This is something I couldn't have known in advance, and was so impressed to see: the catered service for our wedding dinner was choreographed: well-dressed waiters walking out in unison to place plates in front of guests at the same time. Beautiful! We were really impressed with all of the local vendors we hired: Las Marakas (live band: play only Spanish language hits), Tu Boda En Huatulco (I worked with Adriana Capistran for floral arrangements and she went ABOVE and beyond. She also was my d.o.c.), Mildret (Local makeup artist: heavy handed, but will work with you on a look you want). While working with people from afar in the States to organize a 80-guest wedding is hard enough, not hearing back in a timely matter was frustrating. However, let me say this: every single person came though for us. Sometimes it just took 2 weeks to hear back via email at times. But if it all ends well, whats the shame in that? We rented out the entire property for 3 full days and filled every room and villa with everyone we know and love. I know that every guest of ours had an incredible experience as well- I know this because they told me so. For such an important event as our wedding, we could not have entrusted the experience in better hands and we are eternally grateful for that.

Exquisite quiet property

This is an exquisite property, with every amenity and activity either on the property or nearby. There are many steps, but really it is great exercise. All rooms have excellent view. I could not ask for better attention or service. Food was well presented and fresh (except for the giant lobster - should have known it would be tough because of it's size. ) Rooms are Spacious, albeit pricey (but worth it),, but this is balanced by a fairly inexpensive menu. We visited first week of March, with few guests. But really, that was wonderful, as there was lots of privacy. Likely not popular with younger folks, as there may not be enough to keep them busy. But if you want to read and lounge around pool or beach, this is the place. Shout out to Joventino, Gabriella, Miguel and many others too numerous to mention. Ride into town is only $2.50 yes, very inexpensive. Easy in/out access to nearby airport. BTW, property can use a little TLC.

My wife and I stayed on property in suite #9 (there are only 28 suites) for five days. The room was spacious, beautiful and clean. Our suite also had its' own small swimming pool. With a limited number of rooms the staff is always there to pamper the guests. We had three breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners on property. Each was excellent. The presentation was fabulous and the service exemplary. This is the perfect spot for couples for a quiet and luxurious getaway. The last 3 days of our trip we stayed at Las Brias. This was the opposite experience. The food was poor, the property which was much larger was very crowded.
