Horrible customer service
Whitney H, Macon

Horrible experience. I understand that the hotel is under maintenance...however, the customer service was not great. Upon check in the lobby was very small and not inviting. There wasn’t any parking nearby so we had to circle around a couple times until found parking ($1.00 per hour parking). There is no continental breakfast. In the welcome packet they stated that you get a welcome pineapple drink and when I went downstairs to ask about it....no one knew what I was talking about. They said the restaurant was not open and that they couldn’t give a “complimentary drink” that they promised. Customer service is very important and if I was in their shoes I would of offered the customer a drink and apologized for the mislead of information. Instead she just told me that the hotel was under construction and their is nothing she can do. In addition, they gave us sunblock lotion in our rooms (very small packet. Enough for one arm). When I called downstairs to ask could we have anoth r packet they said no and that it was only one per room. Wow. Very cheap. You are better off to just go to a Hilton.

Lovely staff but under construction

Don’t expect much except that you are a block from the beach. No restaurant. WiFi not reliable or consistent. Rooms redone but don’t expect a desk or a chair. IKEA shelving, no dresser. Also no mini fridge or ironing board in room. The staff is very accommodating but the construction issues and construction noise makes it not a pleasant setting for a visit.

I stayed for a week in Sept 2015 with a friend in a Diamond Head room on Level 6. This time only for 3 nights by myself on my way home, Diamond Head room on Level 8 (811 with 2 Queen beds). Great views overlooking the Zoo & Diamond Head plus a little of the ocean. The Lanai (balcony) is small but adequate. The renovations are still in progress so no Level 3 where the Pool & Restaurant are. An alternate pool was offered at a nearby hotel. I didn't make use of it so can't comment. TV reception was a bit intermittent, possibly due to the bad weather. Internet dropped out from about 9pm til 10am approx my 1st night, also due to bad weather I was told. No ETA was given both times I rang to inquire. Hurricane Lane was in the area but didn't hit, just a bit of wind & some rain. The hotel seemed prepared though. The ground floor looks lovely & fresh, the cafe had a nice vibe, comfy seats & a good selection of food & beverages, including alcohol. Good happy hour times also & free coffee sampling which I sampled. Sadly the coffee\tea making facilities have gone from the rooms now which is a shame. The bathroom freshly new, has no fan so the mirror fogs up, even with window open. It will be interesting to see what happens with the Room prices once renovations are complete. There is an ice & water station every 2nd even floor near the lift. There is also a purified cold water dispenser in the Foyer on the ground floor. Excellent addition to say the environment. The room had a weird table arrangement over a window seat. I found it a bit cumbersome to utilise & heavy to move. Bed was very comfortable. 2 layers of blinds, levels on opposite sides so I didn't actually realise there was a 2nd layer until the morning after I arrived. 1 provides night block out, the other day time privacy. The Bell Desk organised my shuttle to the airport, however it was late. No ETA was given & the driver had to make another stop after me. The hotel booking confirmation lists another company whom upon ringing, wouldn't take my booking as it was greater than 24hrs in advance. A google search found there are 2 Company's with the similar name but different phone\website. Close to the beach, ABC stores for small grocery's, touristy knick knacks & alcohol. Close to the main drag of Waikiki shops. Great location really if you want a little more green out your window.

All hail Queen K! :)

I just returned from my trip to Honolulu and I wanted to personally thank everyone at Queen K for your hospitality during my stay. I had the perfect time and it made my delayed birthday trip extra special. The penthouse suite was absolutely gorgeous. I was warmly checked in by Jocelyn who I remember from my first stay at Queen K. Kimberly G. also introduced herself and gave me her business card should I need anything. I was also touched by the box of chocolates and a birthday card in my room from Kimberly as well. The Knots Coffee Roasters downstairs was fantastic with very personable service. I also want to give a shout out to Jean from housekeeping who not only wished me a happy birthday as I was leaving my room but offered to clean it immediately and even wrote me a kind birthday note as well. And last but not least, Jeff P. and Rob F. have been a stellar management team and offered their contact info should I need anything. It means a lot to have staff be so welcoming to me especially since the unforeseen delay in my trip due to a death in the family. Thank you again for everything and I can't wait to come back and stay at the Queen Kapiolani every year. And of course, I will be recommending the Queen Kapiolani to all my friends and associates. Mahalo!
