Enjoyed Nice Room and Delicious Food

I will start off my review by saying the Princess Mundo Imperial Hotel is a beautiful resort. I had a beautiful large room with a wrap around balcony with a view of the golf course and a small glimpse of the ocean with a beautiful view of the sunrise. The food was exceptionally very good. The beach was lovely, great for walking for miles even with running shoes on as the sand is solid packed down closer to the ocean. I do have to mention that I had many issues at the resort which I am not going to go into as I do want to be fair to the Princess Hotel in my review as I don't know for sure where the fault lies, with Sunwing all inclusive package that I booked through or the Princess Hotel. I am giving my rating for the Princess Hotel a 4 star. If I did not have these issues I would of given a 5 star rating. If I knew the fault lied with the Princess Hotel I would have given them a 3 star. The most important tip is make sure you know what your package from Sunwing includes and take with you copies of those detailed inclusions. I had my copies of Sunwings all inclusive package detailed inclusions and I still had issues. Hopefully by now Sunwing and Mundo Imperial Hotels got their act together and will have made it a better experience for their future Canadian guests visiting on the all inclusive Sunwing Package. Check in was chaotic. Yes the Princess Hotel was very busy as it was still vacation time for most Mexicans on holiday till January 6th. I was at the Princess Hotel from January 2nd to 9th. Sunwing group arrived at hotel around 4pm. The check in line was from the Reception desk all the way back through that huge lobby and beyond into the hall of the stores up until 10:30pm that night. Luckily our Sunwing Rep said the Sunwing group will have Express check in. Well Express check in was only to get our all inclusive bracelets and a towel card and we were told that we had to come back at 6pm to get our rooms. I only got my room at 7pm as now there were 2 Sunwing flight arrivals from Montreal and Toronto and check in was so disorganized and chaotic. Wow, when I opened the door to my room I was pleasantly surprised. There was music playing and at first I thought the room must be occupied. It was the tv playing nice music. The room was huge with a bright airy feeling to it as two walls of the room were all windows with white shutters leading onto to this massive wrap around balcony. The balcony had a round table and chairs and 2 loungers. Upon entering the room to the right was a walk in closet, ironing board and iron, safety deposit box on top shelf which I needed a chair to reach. To the left was the powder room and bathroom. The powder room was open with a large counter, mirror and stool with a blowdryer attached to wall. There was toiletries like soap bar, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shower cap, shaving kit, shoe brush, kleenex. The bathroom was a regular size with a mirror on the door, shower/tub that the faucet did not close good so it continously dripped, sink and good size counter space. No washcloths so bring your own. The bedroom was nicely decorated in soft blue colors. The bed was king size and very comfortable. There was 2 night tables with 1 phone (no clock), a long dresser that had a coffee machine on it, 2 bottles of water (replaced every day) and a mirror on the wall, table and 2 chairs, 2 sofa chairs and an armoire that had a flat screen tv on it. The lighting was very good in the room. The air conditioning worked very good so there was no need to adjust temperature. The room was very quiet as I was at the end of the hall. The room was very clean as well as the whole resort and beach. I was on the Sunwing all inclusive package which is a great deal for Canadians staying at the Princess Hotel as most guests otherwise have to pay for everything at the hotel which is quite expensive. Even though you have all inclusive you do have to sign for every beverage and food you order. My bills usually had the details and prices of what I ordered with a zero balance. Beverages (alcoholic and soft drinks) including water bottles are all inclusive from 11am to 11pm. There are a few restaurants and food stands at the Princess Hotel but you have all inclusive meals only at the Chula Vista Buffet Restaurant, Beach Club Restaurant and Travola Restaurant (that requires reservation) plus the restaurants at the other 2 sister hotels plus Scala Sea Club at Playa Bonfil. The food is very good in every restaurant. I really enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the Chula Vista. The omelettes were very good as well as ordering fresh juice (green juice) at the Juice Bar. Disappointed though that they never had churros. I have to mention the waiter Gerardo who is so nice and very polite. He always came over to greet me with a Buenos Dias. Gerardo does speak English so if you have any issues he will gladly help you out. The waiter David was also very nice and surprisingly greeted me by name. When the juice bar was not open yet for breakfast David offered to still get me a freshly made green juice. Beach Club Restaurant is open air located near the pool area and faces onto the beach and is only opened for lunch. The menu has many choices as well as a dessert menu. I really enjoyed my delicious lunches including appetizer of shrimp cocktail, entrees of coconut shrimp and grilled tuna, dessert almond cake. I found that many times when I ordered medium well for meat or fish at the Beach Club or Travola Restaurant it came red and I had to send it back to be cooked more. I always enjoy on vacation a Strawberry Daquiri, Pina Colada and Mojito. The Pina Colada's I found anywhere I ordered them were terrible (some wierd taste-maybe to much alcohol), Strawberry Daquiri's were not available in alot of places. At the Lobby Bar they made me one with fresh strawberries. At Travola Restaurant they made a special one. At the Beach Club Restaurant they offered me instead a Tamarindo Daquiri which was very good. Mojitos were very good everywhere. Travola Restaurant is very nicely decorated and the food and service is exceptional. They have a piano player every night except Tuesdays. It is a very big restaurant and the piano player is located in a corner of the restaurant with only a few tables near by. Unfortunately most tables are on the other end of the restaurant so it is very hard to hear the music with all the noise. Make reservations as soon as you arrive at the Conceirge desk for the whole time you are there. I also have to mention the most charming and personable Manager of Travola Restaurant, Jose Luis. He always greeted me and knew what I liked to drink. I really enjoyed my dinners and the food was nicely presented. I loved the appetizer delicious cream of vegetable soup, entrees fillet mignon and salmon, dessert Panna Cotta di Fruta. On one occasion I ordered an appetizer of Carpaccio di Manza English translation on the menu of fine slice of beef fillet served with Arugala, slices of parmesan cheese and capers. When it arrived to my table I noticed it looked like raw meat and was trying to explain to the waiter I can not eat raw meat. The Chef came out to explain to me that Carpaccio is raw meat and was very nice to offer me an alternative that was not on the menu. On other occasions the Chef came out to ask guests how they are enjoying their dinner. I thought that was a nice touch. At the end of my vacation at the Princess Hotel which I didn't get the chance, I really did want to compliment the Chef of Travola Restaurant that I really enjoyed my dinners as the food was delicious and nicely presented. I also enjoyed the lunch buffet at Aqua Restaurant near pool at the (sister resort) Resort Mundo Imperial. The Beach and Pool: I am a beach person so I did not make use of the pool. The pool does have a waterfall and a slide (which had a closed sign). The pool did look inviting and there are a lot of loungers and umbrellas in different areas. You do have to get up early to put your towel on a lounger. Here is a big tip- when you arrive at the Princess Hotel go to the towel counter near the pool area and speak to the person for the Beach Palapa reservations and find out what time you need to come the next morning to reserve a Beach Palapa. They could have changed the timing. I was not able to get a Lounger or Palapa anywhere on the resort the day after I arrived (Thursday). Sunwing guests only found out the policy for reserving Beach Palapas at the Princess Hotel at the Sunwing 10:30am Information meeting the following morning of arrival. I was there when the resort was very busy. Remember the 2 other sister hotels also have access priviledges. The Beach Palapa reservation counter opens at 7am. Sunwing guests were required to be in line at 7am. I went down at 6:15am to wait in line. I can tell you at 6:50am there were 50 people in line. On Monday morning the Beach Palapa reservation counter opened at 8am as the resort was quiet and most Mexican guests had checked out on Sunday. I can tell you most Sunwing guests were not to happy to find out that they came down for nothing for 7am and had to waste time and come back again for 8am. There are approximately 100 Palapas available but Sunwing was assigned only 21 Palapas in a specific location. Take a flashlight because when you come out of your room you will be surprised that the halls of the hotel are dark. Sunrise is at 7:10am. The beach is very nice. There is biege soft sand. Closer to the ocean is packed down sand for easy walking of the beach. You DO NOT have a view of the ocean as the whole public beach is occupied with tent rentals. You also have the ATV's (4 wheelers) going by continuously which are noisy with exhaust fumes plus the horse back riders. The Beach Palapas are really nice and large with thatched roofs which each have 2 loungers, 2 muskoka chairs and a small table. There is a beach bar which you will probably have to get your own drinks as I never saw the servers coming to the Sunwing location. The only time a beach server came to me was on the Tuesday when most of the Princess Hotel beach Palapas were deserted of the paying guests. The ocean is warm and you can walk quite far out and you are not even knee deep. Until this point there is no undertow and very small waves. If you go in to your waist you will be just in front of the big waves. A lot of people are out that far and looking like they are having a fun time but I am sure that is where there is the strong undertow. You can see a beautiful sunset on the beach at 6:15pm. There is entertainment at the hotel but no one has a clue when or what is happening. I think in late afternoon in passing through the lobby going to the elevators there were about 6 Mariachi Musicians playing in the lobby. The lobby is huge and nicely decorated but very few places to sit. At the Lobby Bar a few times in passing I heard a band playing with a singer. No idea what time they start or finish. At the Beach Club Restaurant one day while eating lunch a trio of musicians played 1 or 2 songs and then disappeared. Maybe they are strolling musicians? Two days before leaving in conversation with Alan at the Concierge desk, he informed me that there was a Latin show that Monday evening 8pm at the Atlantis Multimedia Center. So this is when I found out that they have a show every night at 8pm till 9pm except Wednesday. What a shame that the guests of the hotel are not even aware of this entertainment. There was hardly anyone in the room. It is located not far from the towel counter. It is a very nice large air conditioned theatre type room. They have drinks available and popcorn. The shows are very amateur and nothing compared to what a person would expect at an all inclusive resort but I enjoy any kind of dance so I really enjoyed the Latin Show. The dancers were quite talented. On Tuesday evening they had a show called Winter Wonderland. They looked like High School students who put together a skit of dance and lip sinc. There is also a very nice disco called Il Canto. The entrance is downstairs from the lobby. They open at 9pm but they only get busy at midnight. I had full intentions of going but by 10pm I was so exhausted of being up every morning at 6am to get in line for the 7am Palapa reservations. Not exactly how I had planned to relax and enjoy my vacation in Acapulco. Scala Sea Club at Playa Bonfil is included in the all inclusive Sunwing Package (shuttle, beach and pool loungers and palapas, food and beverages). To go from the Princess Hotel you pick up the shuttle in front of the lobby far left hand side. This shuttle takes you to the sister hotel Resort Mundo Imperial. There you wait for another shuttle to take you to Scala Sea Club. There are specific pick up timings which you should confirm at the hotel concierge desk). The Princess Hotel location is very close to the airport maybe 10 minutes away but you will not hear the planes. You are on a resort that is isolated. You can walk off the grounds and it would take you 10 to 15 minutes to get to the street. I did that walk and felt very uncomfortable when I got to the street to cross over to get to Walmart. There are no lights and just to cross over is very difficult as it is jam packed with fast moving vehicules. I did plan to take the bus to the Costera but decided against it. This is your choice if you want to go to the Costera or Zocalo and experience the real flavor of Acapulco. If you take a taxi from the Hotel it will cost you 250 to 280 pesos one way (about $20.00) and if there is no traffic the taxi ride should take 45 minutes. There is a bus in front of Walmart (direction going reads Costero/ return reads Colosio ) cost about 12 pesos. You can also take the collectivo (mini van or taxi that picks up locals along the way cost about 20 pesos. The Sunwing Rep and Hotel employees do not recommend taking public transportation. If you take the public transportation don't wear jewlery and don't take to much money. If you want to go to a shopping mall close by called Las Isla take the complimentary hotel shuttle to sister resort Resort Mundo Imperial and across street from hotel is the shopping center. The Princess Hotel has a few nice expensive shops and a Starbucks.

Great hotel - avoid Beach Club Cafe

The resort itself is beautiful, great staff, clean amazing rooms, gorgeous pools, big gym, nice bar, lovely all around! I would definitely stay here again. The only reason I selected four stars is because the Beach Club Cafe on their resort grounds was a terrible experience; we found chunks of plastic in our blended margaritas, which they kindly replaced but was a little surprised they still made us pay for them, maybe that's an American cultural thing? Also got food poisoning from the carne tacos which left me out of commission for 2 days. Also was a bit disappointed by the noise from construction going on site - didn't get a fore warning about this but felt a bit frustrated by it in moments when we wanted to relax and could hear a jack hammer from our room.

Great experience

Marco Gutieccez at Bar Laguna helped me. I had some unusual and difficult requests and he helped me find elegant and simple solutions, and then he executed them with grace and poise despite operating in a relatively tumultuous environment. Many thanks, Marco!

Stayed for an event. Excellent service.

I stayed here for an event the week of 02/14/19 with my partner and needed some help with some getting some promotional material posted around the Princess and was greeted with friendly and welcoming assistance from Jefe Nocturno and Humberto Samora to help us make it happen. The Princess is a big resort, but we have found the service to be very good!

This was out 2nd consecutive stay. Once again only a 15 minute drive from the airport, picked up in the Luxury Princess shuttle. We were checked in within 10 minutes and had a beautiful Ocean View room. Restaurants, Chula Vista for breakfast, all you could imagine, in high quality fruits and pastries, fresh made to order eggs of any kind and very good coffee. Out waiter Philipe, each day was very professional and hospital. The Beach Club Restaurant Once again some of the best Shrimp Cocktail and Cocconut Shrimp Cocktail you will ever have. So much to choose from on the menue. The service was great but especially management please recognize Isabel Muchacho. Isabel remembered us from last year and she is so polite warm and professional Tavola Restaurant is 5 ***** Dinning and some of the staff remembered us from last year, the quality of food is second to none and the house wine was very good and the service excellent and you must have reservations for Tavola Housekeeping was great, the room very clean and bottled water in the room everyday. Fireworks, not sure why but on Wednesday Night there was a Massive beautiful fireworks display at the Princess. The front desk and Concierege service was great, they always called your room or answered the phone with your last name. I can honestly say we do not have a single complaint, only compliments and we will be back next year with more friends. Also, people we alwasy tipped the staff at breakfast, lunch, dinner and the housekeeping, they all work very hard and are so appreciative when you leave just a couple of George Washingtons on the table.
