I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel! During our stay the friendly staff took every opportunity to go above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying our stay. You can tell they really take pride in the hotel and providing top-notch service. The room was very comfortable with a beautiful ocean view. The food was also very good; quality, filling portions, and very tasty. The resort was not crowded during our stay, very peaceful and relaxing. The hotel also made arrangements for us through the on site dive shop for water activities and arranged transportation as needed. I have definitely found my go-to resort while in Cozumel, as the quality, service, and natural beauty of Playa Azul is amazing! Can't wait to visit again!

25th Anniversary

Another great trip to Playa Azul, I normally go with the guys on a golfing trip and always have fun, but this time I wanted something special for my wife on our 25th. We got upgraded to the Ocean side room and they are so nice. 50 feet from the ocean, it was great and the rooms have been remodeled recently and are in very nice shape, large showers, separate front living room and then large bedroom and great balcony looking over beach and ocean. The staff by the end of the trip are all friends and treat you so well. Prices are very low for such a great memory. Breakfast every morning included, golfed 3 times and had the place to ourselves and for a very nice course. Bring bug spray, but wasn't that bad, it had rained for 3 days the weekend before so it got better each day. If you want a different course just try the blue or black tees, it turns it into a very tough course. It was June when we came and like someone from Dallas said when people ask him why he comes to Cozumel in the summer.

Could have been a great trip

Just got back from our first trip to Cozumel with my husband and 2 other couples. We chose Playa Azul after hours of online research. Other reviewers commended the location, atmosphere and great service, so we were very excited to try it. We have all traveled to different parts of Mexico numerous times. We usually end up making friends with the staff - we know their names, they know ours, we are sad to part ways and look forward to returning. Unfortunately, we did not have that experience that AT ALL. THE GOOD - the hotel grounds are pretty and there is beautiful snorkeling right there. The housekeepers were wonderful, engaging and very friendly. Breakfast was good and a few of the waiters at breakfast were pleasant and helpful. THE BAD - no drink service at the pool. Barely any service on the beach. Most of the time we went to the bar to place orders and pick up drinks. There was a pervasive attitude of ambivalence. The staff could care less if we we’re there or not. We are all very contientous people. We tip well, we are friendly, we are not demanding. The lady in the gift shop was rude and unhelpful when we asked to borrow snorkeling equipment (part of the perks of staying there). When one of our party asked about where to get a massage by a male masseuse, they were told by the front desk “we don’t know”. We asked if we could have a late checkout (1:30pm) for 2 of our 3 rooms because our flights left late. They allowed it begrudgingly for one, but refused on the other. We were extremely dissappointed in how unbelievably unhelpful and unfriendly the staff was overall. We will absolutely NOT be returning. Very sad, because this could have been a phenomenal trip celebrating my husband’s 50th birthday.

at its finest. This was our first visit to Playa Azul and definitely not our last. PA is an intimate property on the north side. Our room, great view, was spacious, clean and comfortable. Housekeeping did a fantastic job-we loved our daily towel animals :) Nice size pool, plenty of chairs/loungers and palapas on the beach. Good snorkeling, a bit rocky, but easy entry/exit. We were pleased with the meals served at the restaurant and beach bar. The breakfast buffet each morning was a treat. Fresh coffee, omelettes/eggs, waffles, cereals, fruit, local dishes, plenty choices. What sets this property apart from all others is the staff. The GM, Francesco and the entire team were so inviting and friendly, you felt like family. Bravo to the entire staff and KUDOS to the food and beverage staff. Great group of people that made you feel comfortable and safe. Attentive but not intrusive. Fantastic stay! We miss our new friends and cannot wait to return. PA-thanks for a great time! Great hotel, beautiful location, rooms are very nice. Beach bar was great, very friendly staff. Taxis readily available to take you where you want to go and prices are pretty reasonable. Safe place to be.
