Great location.

Was located walking distance to everything. We got an old room thats needs to be updated. The shower leaked all over the floor as the shower door didn't have a seal?! The roof top is magical but no ambience. The bed was comfortable and bedroom clean. The breakfast was above average but not amazing.

Very Disappointing!

I am not sure how or why this hotel is receiving the excellent reviews it is getting. This hotel is not excellent, but marginal at best. I booked a triple room for me and my 2 children. The third bed was actually a rollaway bed. The room was tiny and super cramped for 3 people and it looked a little "run down". The beds and pillows were not very comfortable. Initially we had problems with air-conditioning not working, so upon arrival we stepped into an extremely hot room that took several hours to cool down. The bathroom was extremely small and not very clean, the shower door leaked and water was all over the floor each time we showered. I am glad we only stayed at this hotel for one night (on the back end of our trip), because it was very disappointing. Additionally, prior to my arrival, I sent serval emails to the hotel to arrange for a transport from the airport. They never responded to my emails. This was definitely an indication as to the caliber of hotel this is. Fortunately, we stayed at “A is for Athens Hotel” for 3 days at the beginning of our vacation and that hotel was much better and the location was excellent too. I would not stay at the Plaka Hotel ever again!

Rooftop View and centrally located

We arrived in Athens for the first leg of our Greece holiday and we were immediately upgraded to a room with a balcony which was great! We had elected not to pay extra for a room with a view, and the view from the rooftop bar more than made up for it! The rooftop was generally quiet and it was very tranquil up there in the morning. Unfortunately, we only had one day in Athens and we were anxious to start sight seeing. We could not have picked a better place! Plaka is on your doorstep and the walk to the Acropolis is no more than 10 minutes. There is also a metro station about 300m from the hotel, which you can use to get to and from the airport. I had seen reviews about noise complaints, but I do not agree with this. Our room was on the top floor (underneath the rooftop bar). We slept with our door open and we were not disturbed by noise either from the bar or from the street. Likewise - we did not hear our neighbours. The complaints regarding the lift are entirely valid - it really is tiny! The bathrooms are also small and it is very difficult to wash in the shower without getting water all over the rest of the room. The staff are helpful and were able to answer all of our questions about the city. Checkout time was a few hours before our flight and they were able to keep all our luggage (and valuable items) while we explored the city. The luggage scale in the lobby is also very helpful, especially if you are catching internal flights with more serious baggage restrictions than the international flights.

Simply stunning views from the rooftop bar and very central to everything.

We stayed at the Plaka hotel on our last trip to Athens, and we were so pleased to be able to stay here again this time. The central position of the hotel puts it a max 5-10 minute walk from every major attraction and close to all the best restaurants. The view from the rooftop bar is breathtaking and the staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. The rooms are small and lift is an experience, but this hotel is a must if you are looking for great accommodation in Athens.

We had stayed at this hotel 5 years ago mainly because of its location and the great view of the Acropolis from the roof terrace and some of the rooms. The rooms are a good size with very comfortable beds. The air conditioning is very efficient which was most welcome given the outside temperature in Athens at the end of July. . Two improvements that have been made since our last visit are a) a much improved breakfast buffet, much more choice, better quality and plenty of staff to make sure nothing ran out. Given how busy the hotel was that was essential and b)more has been done to improve the roof terrace including a small bar. The hotel is centrally located close to Monastiraki Square in the heart of the Plaka district
