Great stay

The staff were very nice, very accommodating and very helpful. The location was a little bit far from the city but if you want solitude and remoteness, then this is the right place. The only thing is that you hear like weird noises at night which woke me up. I don't even know if the noises I heard were insect noises because the hotel itself is in front of like a forest. Also, when we woke up one morning, a lot of dead insects were outside our room and about one to two dead ones that got inside our room. Also, their open buffet restaurant was susceptible to many flies and these flies go to the food and even though the food are covered, the flies manage to fly in the serving spoons. Honestly, I started having diarrhea before we left. I wasn't sure if it was because of the tap water that they serve or the contaminated food. I just hope they take care of the cleanliness of the food that they serve. I heard that they're adding a new restaurant. I hope that this one is enclosed to prevent insects from flying to the food.

Not what I was promised.

Believe me folks I’m a fare and balanced person when it comes to review properties around the planet. So I decided to go with my family to celebrate my birthday for a weekend at the end of June to PVR. Little did I know that I was only going to be there for less than 24 hrs. When we got to hotel for some reason our room was not available and they kept us waiting for over an hour, even though it was within the check time and policies of the hotel. We was told to eat something at the only buffet restaurant while we get our room, it was snack time so we went down to the restaurant. Got me a hotdog with a coke and went to get my keys to the room. We got to our suite on the tenth floor it was huge but old and with a mold smell. I tried to ignored that as much as I could even though my wife talked about it the whole time We was there. My kids before dinner wanted to go down to the pool and when we got to the pool my kids were not able to swim in the pool because the pool was full of dead insects, so there goes our first encounter, We ask if there was another restaurant because the buffet was not appealing and they told us that there was one a la carte on the 5th floor but needed reservations. We ask them that we just got to the hotel and it was my birthday. The restaurant was excellent I got me a seared tuna and service was really good. Me and my wife and two boys watched the sunset from there and it was an awesome view. We finished dinner and walked for a few minutes on the beach and left to sleep. As we go back to our room the elevator are cramps with the roaches, in the walk way to our room, next to our room door and lots of roaches everywhere and different dead insects. Went for breakfast early in the morning and got hit with lots of flies over the food, not covered and no one did anything to covered the food. Got me some chilaquiles with cheese and some beans and within minutes I started feeling sick. I stopped by the counter and was told that they have made a mistake and can’t provide us with the suite for the whole weekend and we need to leave the hotel because all the rooms are checked in full. I was upset after making all this plans that I specifically told them what I wanted before I got on the airplane. So I immediately got my American Express and got us some tickets to go to Punta Cana via Chicago. As I was leaving the hotel I started getting sick and started vomiting. When we got to Chicago we was not able to continue our trip to Punta Cana, because by then I was so sick that needed ER. I was told I had food poison and stayed in Chicago for two days and then we continued our vacation to Dominican Republic. Thank God that after that horrible experience in PVR, Punta Cana was the best option ever. I’m pretty sure they are better hotels with better service in PVR but as of now we would not go back ever again.

We had such a great time staying at this hotel. The entertainment for the kids every day and night kept our kids and their cousins busy either dancing, playing and getting creative with their arts and crafts. Cecilia and Daniel were so sweet and fun. Water polo with the family was super entertaining and hilarious. Juan by the pool kept our tummies full and our thirsts quenched. Samuel was the 1st to welcome us and show us great hospitality. While the hotel is undergoing construction, there were some minor fall backs but not much to deter our fun. There was another employee (chef) that was nice enough to make me a vegan burrito that was delish!!! Thank you!!

Park Royal Puerto Vallarta I must say has an amazing staff! To begin our birthday trip for my husband and I we were greeted by Samuel! Amazing individual I have ever met, he was welcoming from the very beginning. As soon as we stepped off the bus he knew exactly who we were. From that point on, he was nothing but HELPFUL. He welcomed us by giving us a free city tour because apparently the hotel offers free shuttle rides to and from the airport but we were never told until already purchasing our own transportation to and from hotel. So he made up for a free city tour, after that he then offered us many other tours that were available for purchase. After giving us our keys and bracelets we thought that would be the last of him. Nope he was continuously checking on us every single day and making sure we had everything the way we needed it. Thank you so much for your awesome hospitality Samuel you are definitely a great addition to this hotel. Now you’re probably wondering why only 3 stars after that amazing review about a staff member? Well, the hotel was under construction (which I might add we were never told that it would be). Wish we had known also there would only be 1 restaurant and then the buffet. The buffet was definitely not preferred we only ate there 3 times and we stayed from Sunday to Sunday. It was very limited and it seemed like the same food every night. (crossing fingers that as soon as construction is over they change a few things about the buffet). The restaurant on the other hand was reservation only and VERY LIMITED SEATING AND SPACE. You can only make a reservation the day of and it had to be between the hours of 12PM to 3PM. Which was nearly impossible for us since we had excursions planned during the day and no access to a phone to call the hotel. I thought that was pretty wrong but I have to say the staff at the restaurant did an awesome job of accomadating us. Except on one night where my husband and I were on an excursion (started at 7:30AM to 4PM) and I had to ask my tour guide (Barbara from Vallarta Adventures) to use her phone to make a reservation. I was able to call but there was no more availability for the day. So we accepted it and thought “okay buffet for tonight” well that didn’t happen because after being out all day we were tired when we got back, took a nap, and didn’t wake up until 10:27PM realizing then the buffet closes at 10:30PM. I then called the front desk to see what options we had for a midnight snack and we had no choice but the gift shop downstairs who had very limited snacks. Not a good thing, if I pay for an all inclusive trip I expect to be able to get food whenever I want, whether it be a restaurant, buffet and/or room service. Anyways, back to the amazing staff at the restaurant, Gonzalo, Manuel and Arturo! 2 BIG THUMBS UP FOR THESE GUYS! They were such an awesome group, they consistently made sure my husband and I were happy the whole time at the restaurant. Always had good suggestions as to what we should eat and always accommodated my very picky husband, no matter what he asked (whether it be extra sauce or adding meat sauce to a three cheese lasagna) they did it with no problem at all! Thank you so much! Lastly, I would like to thank Max the bell boy! He was so cool! He always had good tips for us around the city and always entertained us while we would wait for our uber. Thank you Max!! Additional staff that were great were Armando (manager) and Estella, thank you for helping us book our excursions! Thank you Park Royal; I wish I could have given you 5 stars but there’s just a few things that need to be fixed.
