First time in Mexico

To be honest I was really scared to travel to Mexico without my parents. I was with my boyfriend of 4 years and usually we go to Coco LaPalm in Negril, Jamaica. I love Jamaica and honestly was scared to try anything new. But I overall really enjoyed it. We were there for 6 days and it was great. The only thing we didn't like was the buffet.. But we did end up just eating lost of salads, fruits, and caprese. Oh, and the sun came over the building around 12 which was kinda of a bummer, but we were so burnt that it didn't matter. we enjoyed it. Also liked how they had umbrella's so you could hide from the sun. The BEST part was the Italian restaurant. We had Gonzalo as our waiter, Manuel as our drink man and that took our dishes. We honestly LOVED them and enjoyed our visits and everything they did for us when we were in there. They were AMAZING!!!!!!! Overall would go back when we are back in Puerto Vallarta.

Amazing service!!

Great service, the personnel is very attentive, there is one person on particular who i would like to mention, his name is Jorge R. He works in the restaurant and has a very good attitude, i have been in many other places in Mexico and have not met a person with sick enthusiasm, makes you feel at home in a way. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Dental vacation

What a pleasant stay at the Park Royal El Presidente' outside of Puerto Vallarta, MX. The five-star Italian dining room was, "...how you say?..." El Primo! The servers were so hospitably gracious, especially Gonzalo! He is older and seemed to know what we wanted before we could even ask. ...hys?... ESP! Thanks Gonzalo! Down stairs the less formal dining was just as gracious and friendly. This one young man was working so hard to back up the friendly service staff... Thank you Gerardo! I would hope he is rewarded to stay there for our next visit to complete the "dental vacation."  Samuel checked us in without a delay, providing a very nicely detailed tour without leaving his desk (overlooking the Bay of Banderas and Beach they call "Los Muertos," bordering the Malecon. The security staff was very accommodating and made us feel at home, as did the rest of the bell staff. *******Muchas Gracious******* I would recommend this resort for the good privacy and great staff. You are out of town here, and I would recommend a rental car if "seeing the sights" is important to you. But if you are just going for the R & R. *** PERFECT ***

The Best of all Possible Worlds

The hotel lived up to our optimistic expectations and more. I had read the negative reviews, but nothing was quite so bad as described except for the fact that this hotel at present is NOT recommended for anyone with mobility problems. There are many unavoidable stairs. See review from Canadians from Abbotsford. Those people also complained about the food as being "Mexican"... True, but this is a small inexpensive 'Mexican' hotel. And also it was easy to make a booking at the excellent a la carte Italian restaurant, very elegant--- in spite of some guests who came in for dinner better dressed for the beach, their heads guarded by baseball caps. There was no entertainment at night, and we knew that. We also knew that discounted hotels do not have such frills. The clientele of the hotel, when we were there, was quite international with South Americans, Europeans, Anglophone and Francophone Canadians and a few (low profile) Americans. And of course Mexican families or couples. It is a small hotel with perhaps about 110 operating rooms so the atmosphere was quite familial. Everyone was very friendly. The construction is to the South of the hotel, and we asked for a room on the North side, and during the day we sat on the North side of the beach. We could always get a lounger even late in the day, and the young beach employee always found us a shade umbrella. The beach is not safe for young children near the water's edge. Adults are advised to keep an eye on them all the time because there are frequent "rogue waves" and a steep drop-off into the sea. It is also not a good idea to leave your things on your lounger and go up for lunch as the ocean swell can change and wash your things out to sea. The hotel is on a still unspoiled lovely little cove and we loved the sound of the crashing waves at night. And of course the best of ocean views of the whole of the Bay. This hotel is south of the built-up area of Puerto Vallarta and closer to Mismaloya.(The Park Royal has a cleaner and more beautiful beach than the Barcelo, by the way). All of the staff were very friendly, polite and attentive from the young man who worked on the beach up to the Reception Desk (manager?) We feel we got good value for the price we paid. The time share sales people did not bother us.

Worst vacation experience we've ever had

If you aren't familiar with Puerto Vallarta, this hotel is quite a bit south of town, close to Mismaloya. It is about a 40-45 minute ride from the airport. We booked this through an RCI timeshare trade and when we checked in, the gentlemen spoke very broken English. I don't think he understood any of our questions. And that seemed to be the case throughout our stay. Very few of the employees speak English and the hotel seems to cater more to the Mexican clientele. Our room, albeit pretty nice, was on the 9th floor, but on the south end, which turned out to be closest to the ongoing construction. Yes, BEWARE, they are building a new tower right next door and there is construction noise from early morning until late evening 7 days a week - yes even on the Sunday we were there! And it is loud. Pile drivers, jack hammers, earth moving equipment and cement trucks. You can't even talk to your neighbor without shouting when laying by the pool. On the third day, we asked to be moved since it appeared the resort was nowhere near full and they did oblige and move us to a suite at the opposite end of the floor - which was thankfully quieter for sleeping. But forget about trying to take an afternoon nap! Additionally, there was a wedding by the pool our first night there. They set up a dance floor OVER the shallow end of the pool and they had a live band. The pool area isn't that big as it is, so the sound was inescapable. And it went on until close to midnight. Apparently they do a lot of weddings there, because there was another one the following Friday night. Because all of the rooms are right above the pool area and there is a narrow beach, you just can't escape the noise. The all inclusive fees were low, but the quality of the food on the buffet reflected that. The Italian restaurant is better, but be warned - you can only make a reservation for THAT DAY between noon and 2pm. And if you don't get there at noon, good luck. Which was amazing, because the several nights we ate in the restaurant, it wasn't even half full. A two hour reservation window and you can't make reservations for even one day ahead - how absurd is that? Especially if you are out on a tour or shopping. They have a policy that you aren't supposed to take food back to your room. And they don't even have a mini-fridge in the rooms. This is unheard of for a resort in Mexico. We have never stayed in a room in Mexico (even a small one), that didn't have a mini-fridge. Also, as other reviewers have pointed out, this resort is not handicapped friendly. There is a long flight of stairs from the first floor where the elevator stops, down to the pool area and buffet restaurant. We will not return to this resort, even after the new tower is done. This will then completely block the sun from the pool area until mid-afternoon, although it appears they are putting a pool on the roof of the new building. But will it be big enough for everyone? And the beach is already small for the rooms they currently have.
