This is our 2nd year at Park Royal and we love it. The staff is amazing, it's never too busy and we always get a chair by the pool. We will be back next year!

No. Food or alcohol at this hotel

They ran out of beer everyday after an hour or two of service. The buffet ran out of food numerous times. The wait staff were very good but had nothing to work with. We paid for food and drink and there was none. No tequiilla no vodka no rum no whiskey and no beer one day no pop.

Overall Excelent with one exception

Overall the hotel was excellent. the only thing that was uncomfortable was the high volume music at the discotec right below our room (1621) until 2:00 AM. It was difficult to sleep. We complaint at the Front Desk and filled a written complaint. The next evening they lower the volume.

Very clean accomodations

The staff in this resort are by far the best we have had tending to our vacation anywhere, including The Riu Palace in Playa del Carmen. Clearly, Management has well cared for staff! Congratulations ! That is the only way to pull the best out of your team. Treat them finely and they will repay you by regarding your guests equally fine. The food was great in the buffet and we did have burgers, and hot dogs at the pool bar. We could not go to the Italian Restaurant because our men had only good dressy sandals, not closed toe shoes. No matter, the Italian night in the buffet was fantastic and the servers in the buffet are exceptional. Now the noise from the music! It won't disappoint! There is no sound barrier. If your tolerance level is not way up there, ask for a room on at least the 18th floor, or away from the beach. The rooms start at level 10, so don't consider 10 to be a high floor. We took a tea kettle, instant coffee, powdered creamer, and plastic spoons because we like coffee in the morning without having to go down to the lobby for it. The coffee in the lobby is not hot, nor is it always available as they say it is, and besides... who wants to be up and down in the elevator with coffee. It's a vacation! By the way, our mattress was one of the new ones! Very comfortable. Room 2018! Wonderfully large walk in shower! AND YES ...A NEW DIGITAL SAFE! That's it!

We spent a week here at New Year's. This was the cleanest hotel I have ever seen. There were people cheerfully cleaning things everywhere you looked, all the time. I even saw a man sweeping the roof of the main lobby (you could look down on the roof from the hallway outside the rooms)... and this is a space that no guest could ever get to. The staff were wonderful. Everywhere we went they did everything they could to make sure we had a wonderful time, and did so with a smile on their faces. Really excellent people. The hotel is on a big beach with really strong waves... fun to jump in, if you're a strong swimmer. The room was quite adequate, with good hot water any time we wanted a shower. It was very clean. The mattresses were fairly hard. The best part in my opinion was the massage huts a couple of hundred metres down the beach. You could have a full-body massage for an hour for 200 pesos... a bit of Heaven. The pool area was very nice. There were activities going on all day long... soccer, volleyball, aquafitness, and my favourite, the water balloon fight. It was hard to get a chair by the pool. People would go down to reserve them at 7 am, when they started putting the chairs out, and if you didn't go there by 7:30 you couldn't have one that day. So you would be surrounded by oodles of empty chairs, with no place to sit. My suggestion to the management would be to put up a sign saying that any towels or belongings left unattended for more than 45 minutes will be taken to the towel hut, and then there would be plenty of empty chairs for anyone who actually wants to SIT in one. When we booked the rooms we had asked for a quiet area. Air Canada vacations was supposed to give us "priority rooms", whatever that means. It turned out not to mean anything, because when we arrived we were told that all the rooms they had in our price range faced over the noisy discotheque, and we would hear the music until 2 am. NOT the way I want to spend my vacation! We ended up paying 6000 pesos extra for three rooms facing AWAY from the discotheque. We found that as long as we left the a/c on all night we didn't hear the disco at all... but what a waste of electricity! The hotel was nice enough to bring us lots of extra blankets, since we couldn't find any way to control the temperature other than to turn off the a/c. I felt really gypped at having to pay the extra money to be able to sleep during our vacation. I think the hotel would do a lot better if they turned the music down or put the discotheque indoors and soundproofed it.

Exceptional Service!

We just spent seven days at the Park Royal. I use a scooter, as I am disabled, and the hotel did the best they could to accommodate my needs. I will start with the Resort's accessibility. They do have one accessible room, which I was supposed to have booked by my travel agent, but upon arrival it was occupied. I did get a room with ample space to park my scooter beside the toilet, but there were no grab bars by the toilet. The shower was a bit of an issue because it was too small for me to maneuver in, but we made it work. The grounds are fairly accessible , with ramps mostly anywhere outside where there are stairs. There are no ramps in the Main Buffet, where there are steps to get up to the food, the spa, the gym , and the Disco also are not accessible. There are no accessible bathrooms - none of the Stalls are big enough for a scooter / wheelchair, and there are no grab handles. Other than the accessibility issues, that will only affect few Travelers, the resort was great. The food at all of the venues, with exception of the snack bar by the pool, (didnt try it)was awesome. The property is kept very clean, and security is always present by the pool to make sure no one gets out of hand. The service at this resort was excellent . Bell boys David and Hector spoke great English and went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. All of the bellboys do a great job there. Front desk staff were all friendly and helpful , but not many of them speak very good English . Our favorite bartenders , angel and Jose we're always on top of our drink orders and served us with a smile . Again, all of the bartenders did a great job . Our waiter by the pool for the week was George , George of the Jungle . He knew what we drank by the third day and he was always there with a smile, ready to serve . The wait staff in the buffet , the Italian restaurant, and the Pescador , were all great as well . I have nothing bad to say about the service . The pool deck is very very slippery. I can't count how many people I watched fall down over the week. Pool chairs are all reserved before they are even put out in the morning, which is so strange. We had to be down by the pool at 7 a.m., to make sure we got pool chairs. This is a fairly normal game in any Mexican resort I've ever been to, but it's still annoying. The rooms were very clean and spacious. No mini fridge, or coffee maker. I knew that before I went though because I read the reviews. The noise from the Disco was horrific for my parents, who paid extra for a beautiful king-size Ocean View room on the 20th floor... But could not go to sleep before 2 a.m. because of the pounding music. Our room was quiet as it was on the other side of the building, but our view of the ocean wasn't as nice. The beds are very hard, but I slept well regardless. The bed in my mom and dad's king size room was lovely. The maids did a great job, and left cute towel animals almost daily. My husband and daughter played beach volleyball everyday at 11 & 4. The beach is lovely there. There's always fairly big surf to play in, but the flag is usually red so you have to be careful. There is a lifeguard on the beach. There are timeshares sold at this Resort. I did not find the timeshare salesman pushy at all. They do try and get you to come for a tour, and free breakfast or whatever but we just say "no gracias" and carry on. I'm not sure why this Resort is rated lower than the Fontan, which we stayed at last year. In my opinion, the Park Royal has the Fontan beat hands down. If the Park Royal had accessible washrooms and more accessible guest rooms, we would be back for sure. Keep in mind that It's small, doesn't have a lot of entertainment or food options, and a lot of the guests are Mexican. If that bothers you don't stay there. In my opinion, it's a solid 3 1/2 star resort, with 5 star service.

Great stay at this hotel. I really love Ixtapa

Stay at this hotel as wonderful people work there and great people stay there. Yes the pool decks are slippery but they do have some mats to prevent it and they are always mopping up the wet areas but please be aware. The Italian restaurant is very good I do recommend. The food at the snack bar could be better maybe serve some tacos or fries? Breakfast was always great and it you ask for bacon they will put it on your plate. Rooms very nice clean and comfortable A/C work great and good shower with no hot waters issues. We stayed in room 1516 facing the west side ocean view and we could hear the disco music but it did not keep us awake long. More vegetarian selection at supper is needed. Good location I would book there again.

SERVICE is what this hotel excels in most!!!

We have been here for a week and are EXTREMELY satisfied with our stay. This hotel is ALL about service!!! The personnel, from management to housekeeping, to bartenders and DJ's, have ALL gone out of their way to do something special for us. We feel like we are treated like "royalty." I have many, many aspects of the hotel to write about, so I will write in segments. There has been a variety of delightfully presented, tasty, fresh foods to choose from at EVERY meal. Some items are staples, but they are served a little differently each day. We have fallen in love with the Italian a la carte restaurant. The food is superb!!! It is a classy restaurant with ambience to match. Attention is paid to EVERY detail.... from the light music in the background to the wall paintings, the lighting and the presentation of the foods. The service is five star.....similar, if not better, to the BEST NYC restaurants. The waiters are filling imported wine, well before you near your last sip. Orders are taken and personal preferences taken in to consideration. There is a wonderful fresh antipasto bar that includes veggies deliciously grilled, cheeses, meats and numerous Italian specialties. Next up is soup, then some phenomenal fresh pasta or risotto dishes, a main course ( we are hooked on the fish ) and a dessert bar with a Tiramisu cake that is DEFINITELY worth every calorie!!! The Maitre'd HORATIO is extraordinary and oversees EVERY aspect of the restaurant, and pays individual ATTENTION to every diner, as well as every detail!!! He is very business-like, yet friendly and warm. We feel like eating in this restaurant is like going home to have dinner with family. Everyone has a smile, as they serve you in a style unusual for most Mexican hotels, especially an all inclusive. We have seen HORATIO at El Pescador during lunch. He may be management, but he walks around and checks EVERY dish to make sure it is fresh, full and flavorful. I have been to Mexico more than 23 times, and have never had the quality of service this hotel provides. I have traveled much of the world from Dubai to Turkey, Europe, Argentina and most of Latin America. We will be making Park Royal a regular stop on our winter travels. We will be leaving on the first of 2018, and couldn't think of a more wonderful place to welcome in the New Year!!! Randi Goldman. Brooklyn, New York
