Park Royal Ixtapa - Decent hotel
Mar 06 2018
Just got back from Park Royal hotel in Ixtapa. The hotel is old but kept up very well. Food is ok but very limited. Either make reservation for a long sit down four course meal or eat at buffet which was not the greatest. It was ok most of the nights. Reallly could use some more variety and hot food. The rooms are ok. A little outdated but clean. Mattresses are hard as rocks. My air conditioning did not work upon arrival but they fixed it and it ran wide open the whole 7 days. It keep the room comfortable. Location of hotel is good both on the beach and close proximity to down town. 5-10 min walk to bars and restaurants. Not too much going on in hotel later at night. They do have a "disco" which is very warm with no air moving. A couple box fans would do wonders! They do play DJ music with video. Good variety but it blasts pretty loud until 2:00 a.m. You can really hear it loud in your room so if you want to go to bed early it is very difficult. Pools and swim up bars are good but there are always some very young kids in the bar area. Wish the kids were kept from the swim up bar area. They splash water into your drinks. Chairs were good as long as you are willing to get up at 7:00 and go down to reserve one. Lunch buffet was very good, best meal of the day most of the time. Only bad thing is if you eat outside there are tons of birds that fight to get your food the min you move away from your plate. If you leave food there it may not be there when you get back. We had a good time and enjoyed our stay. Again, if you are looking for a ritzy hotel this is not it. If you are very flexible and don't need everything on a platter like some of my friends this may work. I would give the hotel a 3 star rating. Weather is the best thing!

This is our 2nd year at Park Royal and we love it. The staff is amazing, it's never too busy and we always get a chair by the pool. We will be back next year!

No. Food or alcohol at this hotel

They ran out of beer everyday after an hour or two of service. The buffet ran out of food numerous times. The wait staff were very good but had nothing to work with. We paid for food and drink and there was none. No tequiilla no vodka no rum no whiskey and no beer one day no pop.

Overall Excelent with one exception

Overall the hotel was excellent. the only thing that was uncomfortable was the high volume music at the discotec right below our room (1621) until 2:00 AM. It was difficult to sleep. We complaint at the Front Desk and filled a written complaint. The next evening they lower the volume.

Very clean accomodations. Hard beds so we asked for a pillow top and they actually had them. Food was not the best, but ok

Food was good. Room was average. I would avoid in summer since the elevators, hotel hallways and common areas are not air conditioned. The bed mattresses were very uncomfortable. I also did not appreciate being approached by sales they wasted and hour and a half of my day trying to sell a membership.

Spent a week at Park Royal. It was the first time ever in Ixtapa. Excellent service by everyone ( Concierge, Lobby Reception, Restaurant, Poolside bar, Spa ). The room was very clean and no issues with any amenities. Staff attention second to none! I genuinely felt very at home. Weather was sunny, hot, mid to upper 90's. Totally relaxing stay.

A nice hotel

If you’re looking for luxury or an adults only hotel, this is not it. The hotel; however, does a good job of being your home away from home. It is clean and comfortable, and the staff is friendly. I was anticipating a rock hard mattress, as you find in hotels in Mexico. But the bed was surprisingly comfortable. That was a plus for me. The food at the buffets are average. If you get tired of hotel food, there is a shopping center in walking distance with good restaurants. On the downside, the noise from the club gets started at 9 or 10 pm and doesn’t subside until 2am. If you’re a heavy sleeper, you should be ok. The swim up bar gets very crowded, and at times, it’s difficult to order a drink. Dust off your high school Spanish, as there are only a handful of the staff that speak English. Overall, a good place to stay.

Average hotel. Average food. The beach is nice, almost private. The service is excellent and the waitress are always asking for refill the cups. I don't like the staff is always asking to give us talks about theirs timeshare vacations plans.

It was a really bad experience, somebody scratched my car in the hotel parking lot, it supposed to have 24 hour security, it was a really bad experience, I really prefer the barcelo, has better service, the bathroom was flooded too
