Nice place...they are updating
Feb 26 2018
The hotel is small and not overly fancy, but the rooms were nice, the staff was super friendly and accommodating, the food was really good! Great water pressure in the showers. I would suggest that the pools need some updating and there should be at least one more al a carte restaurant to choose from.

Disappointing and Stressful
Apr 05 2017
We booked 3 rooms and 3 generations for a family vacation spring break. We chose this resort due to the available suites. We were unable to get an ocean view/front (even though we paid for the "best" suite available). the balcony wasn't usable from noon to 7 pm due to direct sun and heat. There was no shade or umbrella. We were unable to be near each other (3 floors and 2 buildings for 3 rooms). The front desk (Enrique) was very rude, dismissive, and disrespectful. The check in was not quick, and part of our group had a check in over 45 minutes (1 person in front of them). Multiple issues arose during the visit, stealing time away from our vacation. My Apple rep was no help, stating "that's too bad." The Apple rep that called to discuss said he would change my room, which I believe was impossible since there wasn't any available. By the 3-4 day of a 5 day vacation, I didn't want a room change. I wanted recognition that we did not receive what we paid for, and we did not deserve to be treated as we were less than anyone else at the resort. My requests were denied and ignored, all except from Itzel at the front desk. the concierge didn't assist and always tried to sell me a condo, I avoided them and feared them like a scam trap/local vendors in better looking suits. I rate the resort a 3/6... which is sad since it was clean and most of the staff was nice. But management was horrible, and it is advertised incorrectly. This experience has made he hesitate to trust Apple resorts as I had in the past. We are not planning on booking with Apple again, even though we have had multiple successful trips with Apple. I really pay Apple to make my vacation relaxing, not insulting. I wanted to spend 5 days on the beach with my daughters, not fighting with the management/complaining by email with my agent, being promised a new room then having meetings cancelled. I ran for the first 3 days, and I feel cheated out of my vacation.

Overall the hotel was great, a little disappointing that there wasn't room service, or a way to get a meal from the hotel passed the hour that they closed the buffet. After going on an all day excursion and not having the ability to eat because we got back too late was a little inconvenient. However it was not that big of the deal. Overall everything was phenomenal.

The food at this resort was not very good at all. The best thing about the resort were the bartenders, Mario, Armando & Jorge. What also doesn't make sense is that they allowed kids in the pool with the swim up bar, very annoying. This should be the adult pool and the one that is above should allow kids. I will not return to this resort. Very disappointed!!!!

Everyone was extremely nice. I am not a big buffet person so I didn't care for the food too much. I thought the resort was going to be bigger than what it was. The beach was great and the hotel was very clean. Our maid service didn't come in everyday so I wasn't too happy about that but it was a nice place.

Perfect Stay
Mar 22 2016
This resort was spectacular. The entire resort staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to anything that you would need, or anything that came up during the trip. It was a perfect spot for spring breakers looking to have some fun, but not be in the center of the action. The only complaint was that the free wifi was very slow and did not work very well. Overall, the trip was fantastic!

Mediocre Buffet Food, AC doesn't get very cold
Nov 02 2014
I think my title says it all. The buffet food was mediocre at best (although the hotel restaurant was outstanding!). The room was just ok. Had several burnt out light bulbs, the TV remote died halfway through the visit, and the AC wouldn't get below 22.5C (a bit warm for someone who likes to sleep at 70degF or below). I slept with no covers the entire time. Beach was great, the bars/snack bars were great, and the service was generally outstanding.

Rooms need remodelling

This is a budget hotel. Rooms are old and need remodeling. There is a funny smell in the rooms and bathrooms are really outdated. Beds are small but comfortable.

HORRIBLE - Park Royal Member - Been Here Many Times But NOT ANY MORE!

We have been Park Royal members for over 15 yrs and have been here many, many times but this past time may very well be my last.... We booked in March for two weeks in June. When we arrived they had us in a Presidential suite with construction next door, above us, all around us. They failed to mention this on their website or while booking. They then were going to move us to a studio for a few days until an ambassador opened up. We didn't want to have to keep moving so after talking to one of the managers they did get us into an ambassador in the other tower. Great; no construction - we thought.... The area between the two towers was frequently closed off due to construction which means you had to walk down the length of the building, cross the driveway then back up - and of course this is during rainy season so it was miserable; especially since the drainage is so bad that you had to walk through 4 inches or so of water to get from one tower to the next; only way to get food. We also had several issues with our room and they eventually fixed the four issues but again, it took a lot of talking to management. The cafeteria has decent food; not great, but good, and the drinks at the bar are ok (except for the last drink my husband got in which he developed dysentery! The biggest change was the nicer restaurant - they changed the name and the policy of children and attire. Apparently you can wear whatever you want and bring your ill behaved children now. Of course the hotel policy in English still states no children and dress code but I guess the ones in Spanish and Portuguese state otherwise. Children running around, bothering diners, people in cut off jeans, crop tops, flip flops, t-shirts. Horrible! Apparently the construction should now be ended as they told us the two new floors and roof top restaurant should be open by middle August. My husband will be there in a few weeks. If nothing has improved we will not be going there again.

Awful - please do believe the reviews, it is THAT bad

We booked a room for a family of 4, so my first surprise when we got there was that there were only 2 beds 3/4 beds (not doubles). They thought that it was totally ok for my 14 year old son to sleep in the same bed as my 7 year old daughter! The place smells damp mouldy and old from the moment you walk into the hotel. The staff on reception are like robots and come out with standard responses to the many complaints they must receive on a daily basis, it is not there fault, this is what they are paid to do, and am not blaming them, I would imagine there job to be very difficult. I am however blaming the hotel and our agents that sold us a room that is only suitable and big enough for 2 people, luckily our agent did sort it out and move us away from that god awful place, it’s like a prison camp. Other things to note about the room and hotel: wardrobe doors hanging off, damaged furniture, no fridge or hairdryer, most rooms don’t have balcony’s. our non opening window had a view of a car park and a bin area. Lovely! Swimming pool area and food area from what little we saw was completely filthy. I read the reviews for a few months prior to going, and being the eternal optimist thought that it wouldn’t be that was worse. And Park Royal Management please do not insult my intelligence with your standard response to bad reviews, you aren’t at all sorry and I won’t ever return, I think the place should be knocked down. We travelled 10 hrs to visit Mexico, and wasted a day of our holiday having to find suitable accommodation.

Maybe 2 star hotel

Firstly we had a presidential suite ( upgrade to this) which was amazing Overlooking the water. It was huge with 2 rooms 2 bathrooms and a balcony with Jacuzzi... this was 4 *...bad was we got only 4 bottles of water daily...not even a beer or mini bar...this was very disappointing, beds were hard but pillows were nice...Food: the buffet food was awful...we ate only for breakfast as there were no other options. We ate at El Pescador restaurant Alacarte for lunch and dinner ever day. The staff there are AMAZING... the food was tasty and the selection good. Only thing is the menu is the same everyday for 10 days it gets repetitive.. You can get a nice lobster dinner for $15 usd pp extra. The staff I would like to mention who deserve excellent mention is Mitzy a super sweet lady, Ricardo, Gabriel, Victor, Alfredo and Erlindo...they all made our trip worthwhile.. BAD points: over crowding...wayyy too many people at resort for size of amenities.. The pool is small and filthy dirty. We didn't swim once.. Thank God for a great little kids ( under 10) water park... we are Royal Holiday members and we were deceived with manipulating sales tactics. Be careful and DON'T sign anything unless absolutely sure as the 5 day cancellation is a scam!! This hotel is working on renovations... we would suggest to management : private roped off members area for the beach and pool and restaurants, mini bar in room, a much bigger pool, no reservations before 7 am with towels.. All pool loungers gone at 5:30 am... this resort was full of locals which is fine but u get what u pay for....i would not come back here without the management recommended changes above..

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! The only thing royal about this place, is that it is a royal waste of your money! At check in they told us they were booked.  We had reservations.  They wanted to move us to another hotel for one night then bring us back.  I was livid! I demanded a room. Eventually, after 45 min they figured something out.  The pictures make it seem like you will get a balcony. No you will not! The pools are tiny and brownish in color.  Over crowded and gross.  The food at the buffet is borderline disgusting. I lived off stale bread and warm cheese.  The oil they use in all their cooking smells and tastes horrible.  The customer service at the front desk is far from my expectations.  The beds are uncomfortable. If you are looking for something in English to watch on the tv get ready for news or national geographic.  That's it! I know every detail about the royal family now in England.  The water pressure is bad.  You only get 2 bottles of water a day.  Do not even try to come if you are vegetarian.  The only nightly entertainment is kareoke. When we called expedia to complain they tried to contact the hotel.  4 different occasions Expedia tried to call.  Every time they heard our last name they hung up.  Expedia couldn't switch us because of that . Expedia refunded us a couple hundred.  The only things good about this place, is the small kids water park.  Great for kids under 10. Also the beach is nice.  And across the street there is a great mall. Our friends stayed at the royal sands.  They said the food was excellent.  Many restaurants to choose from.  Pools huge and blue.  Rooms large and with balconies. When i hear about their lobster dinners it makes me want to cry with anger over the huge mistake i made by staying here at the park royal.

Fun in Mexico

Nice Hotel friendly staff. Food was ok but as with all inclusive hotels it gets boring after a while. Beware of timeshare sales reps. The rooms were quiet big. We had to bathrooms rooms. One was a wet room and the other had a bath. Great for families with small children. Slightly dated decor.
