Nice place...they are updating
AMANDA E.
Feb 26 2018
The hotel is small and not overly fancy, but the rooms were nice, the staff was super friendly and accommodating, the food was really good! Great water pressure in the showers. I would suggest that the pools need some updating and there should be at least one more al a carte restaurant to choose from.

Disappointing and Stressful
NICOLE W.

We booked 3 rooms and 3 generations for a family vacation spring break. We chose this resort due to the available suites. We were unable to get an ocean view/front (even though we paid for the "best" suite available). the balcony wasn't usable from noon to 7 pm due to direct sun and heat. There was no shade or umbrella. We were unable to be near each other (3 floors and 2 buildings for 3 rooms). The front desk (Enrique) was very rude, dismissive, and disrespectful. The check in was not quick, and part of our group had a check in over 45 minutes (1 person in front of them). Multiple issues arose during the visit, stealing time away from our vacation. My Apple rep was no help, stating "that's too bad." The Apple rep that called to discuss said he would change my room, which I believe was impossible since there wasn't any available. By the 3-4 day of a 5 day vacation, I didn't want a room change. I wanted recognition that we did not receive what we paid for, and we did not deserve to be treated as we were less than anyone else at the resort. My requests were denied and ignored, all except from Itzel at the front desk. the concierge didn't assist and always tried to sell me a condo, I avoided them and feared them like a scam trap/local vendors in better looking suits. I rate the resort a 3/6... which is sad since it was clean and most of the staff was nice. But management was horrible, and it is advertised incorrectly. This experience has made he hesitate to trust Apple resorts as I had in the past. We are not planning on booking with Apple again, even though we have had multiple successful trips with Apple. I really pay Apple to make my vacation relaxing, not insulting. I wanted to spend 5 days on the beach with my daughters, not fighting with the management/complaining by email with my agent, being promised a new room then having meetings cancelled. I ran for the first 3 days, and I feel cheated out of my vacation.

Overall the hotel was great, a little disappointing that there wasn't room service, or a way to get a meal from the hotel passed the hour that they closed the buffet. After going on an all day excursion and not having the ability to eat because we got back too late was a little inconvenient. However it was not that big of the deal. Overall everything was phenomenal.

The food at this resort was not very good at all. The best thing about the resort were the bartenders, Mario, Armando & Jorge. What also doesn't make sense is that they allowed kids in the pool with the swim up bar, very annoying. This should be the adult pool and the one that is above should allow kids. I will not return to this resort. Very disappointed!!!!

Everyone was extremely nice. I am not a big buffet person so I didn't care for the food too much. I thought the resort was going to be bigger than what it was. The beach was great and the hotel was very clean. Our maid service didn't come in everyday so I wasn't too happy about that but it was a nice place.

Perfect Stay

This resort was spectacular. The entire resort staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to anything that you would need, or anything that came up during the trip. It was a perfect spot for spring breakers looking to have some fun, but not be in the center of the action. The only complaint was that the free wifi was very slow and did not work very well. Overall, the trip was fantastic!

Mediocre Buffet Food, AC doesn't get very cold
JASON M.
Nov 02 2014
I think my title says it all. The buffet food was mediocre at best (although the hotel restaurant was outstanding!). The room was just ok. Had several burnt out light bulbs, the TV remote died halfway through the visit, and the AC wouldn't get below 22.5C (a bit warm for someone who likes to sleep at 70degF or below). I slept with no covers the entire time. Beach was great, the bars/snack bars were great, and the service was generally outstanding.

This is a budget hotel. Rooms are old and need remodeling. There is a funny smell in the rooms and bathrooms are really outdated. Beds are small but comfortable.

There is nothing we could say negative about the Park Royal Hotel. The only mistake was not booking 7 nights instead of 4. We will definitely recommend it to our friends, relatives and will go back to the Park Royal aa soon as we have a chance. Tahnk you for a great experience!!

Pedro, Alfonso, Benjamin, Luis, and Itzel went above and beyond the entire trip! Our family had such a wonderful time thanks to them. They genuinely went out of their way to make sure we were happy and enjoying ourselves. We are sad to leave but looking forward to returning thanks to this crew of special people!

Arriving the hotel we notice it’s under construction and very noisy. Upon Checking in they lost our luggage and were in route to wrong room. We recovered our own bags chasing down hotel employee who said they all look alike. Our first room we got in was horrible, broken closet doors, rusty windows, dirty toilet, extreme slow service, rude operator, and broken security safebox!!! That meant for a few days we had to take our valuables with us for two days until we upgraded to presidential suite(not for free either, extra $80 per night). The pool area was nice, beach near by was nice, but the food was awful! Another note with presidential suite came with a jacuzzi in the balcony but during the day with construction going on and construction workers supposedly working were often just spying on everyone making my wife uncomfortable and I’m sure as well for other females in the building. Stay away till they finish remodeling and construction.

We had a great time! Easy walk to the beach, good meals, and great service. There was entertainment most nights, and the room was pretty quiet, as part of the smaller side (near the small children's pool).

The Gym of Park Royal Cancun

I find most resort hotel gyms to be small with very few pieces of equipment. This one had plenty for those who like to workout on a vacation and the facility was very clean-not even a speck of dust. The staff was always friendly and willing to help you with any machine. In fact, Heriberto, the Personal Trainer, not only gave me tips and advice on my exercises, he also helped train me for the week that I was there. He is very knowledgeable, dedicated, encouraging and fun to talk to. You could not ask for a better experience, away from home. He designed a routine based on what I like to workout and helped me reach my goals. I totally recommend him and the facility. It will indeed enhance your vacation. Montserrat, a staff member of the gym, was also very helpful and pleasant-always with a smile. Bring your gym shoes and gym clothes!
