Nice place...they are updating
Feb 26 2018
The hotel is small and not overly fancy, but the rooms were nice, the staff was super friendly and accommodating, the food was really good! Great water pressure in the showers. I would suggest that the pools need some updating and there should be at least one more al a carte restaurant to choose from.

Disappointing and Stressful
Apr 05 2017
We booked 3 rooms and 3 generations for a family vacation spring break. We chose this resort due to the available suites. We were unable to get an ocean view/front (even though we paid for the "best" suite available). the balcony wasn't usable from noon to 7 pm due to direct sun and heat. There was no shade or umbrella. We were unable to be near each other (3 floors and 2 buildings for 3 rooms). The front desk (Enrique) was very rude, dismissive, and disrespectful. The check in was not quick, and part of our group had a check in over 45 minutes (1 person in front of them). Multiple issues arose during the visit, stealing time away from our vacation. My Apple rep was no help, stating "that's too bad." The Apple rep that called to discuss said he would change my room, which I believe was impossible since there wasn't any available. By the 3-4 day of a 5 day vacation, I didn't want a room change. I wanted recognition that we did not receive what we paid for, and we did not deserve to be treated as we were less than anyone else at the resort. My requests were denied and ignored, all except from Itzel at the front desk. the concierge didn't assist and always tried to sell me a condo, I avoided them and feared them like a scam trap/local vendors in better looking suits. I rate the resort a 3/6... which is sad since it was clean and most of the staff was nice. But management was horrible, and it is advertised incorrectly. This experience has made he hesitate to trust Apple resorts as I had in the past. We are not planning on booking with Apple again, even though we have had multiple successful trips with Apple. I really pay Apple to make my vacation relaxing, not insulting. I wanted to spend 5 days on the beach with my daughters, not fighting with the management/complaining by email with my agent, being promised a new room then having meetings cancelled. I ran for the first 3 days, and I feel cheated out of my vacation.

Overall the hotel was great, a little disappointing that there wasn't room service, or a way to get a meal from the hotel passed the hour that they closed the buffet. After going on an all day excursion and not having the ability to eat because we got back too late was a little inconvenient. However it was not that big of the deal. Overall everything was phenomenal.

The food at this resort was not very good at all. The best thing about the resort were the bartenders, Mario, Armando & Jorge. What also doesn't make sense is that they allowed kids in the pool with the swim up bar, very annoying. This should be the adult pool and the one that is above should allow kids. I will not return to this resort. Very disappointed!!!!

Everyone was extremely nice. I am not a big buffet person so I didn't care for the food too much. I thought the resort was going to be bigger than what it was. The beach was great and the hotel was very clean. Our maid service didn't come in everyday so I wasn't too happy about that but it was a nice place.

Perfect Stay
Mar 22 2016
This resort was spectacular. The entire resort staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to anything that you would need, or anything that came up during the trip. It was a perfect spot for spring breakers looking to have some fun, but not be in the center of the action. The only complaint was that the free wifi was very slow and did not work very well. Overall, the trip was fantastic!

Mediocre Buffet Food, AC doesn't get very cold
Nov 02 2014
I think my title says it all. The buffet food was mediocre at best (although the hotel restaurant was outstanding!). The room was just ok. Had several burnt out light bulbs, the TV remote died halfway through the visit, and the AC wouldn't get below 22.5C (a bit warm for someone who likes to sleep at 70degF or below). I slept with no covers the entire time. Beach was great, the bars/snack bars were great, and the service was generally outstanding.

Rooms need remodelling

This is a budget hotel. Rooms are old and need remodeling. There is a funny smell in the rooms and bathrooms are really outdated. Beds are small but comfortable.

Another wonderful Vacation!

4th time back at Park Royal and we will back again! Our favorite vacation spot. Yes there is construction, but we really were not bothered by it. This resort is clean and the food is fine. We never went hungry. The staff is friendly. We do have our favorites...Let start with the entertainment staff. What a hoot. They make your laugh. Benny is so funny. Gustavo and Angel are great too. Neybi Is new, but she will be great, I just know. Then of course the bartenders. They really take good care of us. Benjamin, Arturo and Mario are the best! What great personalities they have. Victor in the Spa was very nice and polite. Jose the manager at the reception desk was 4 stars helpful. Again, we will be back!

Good not so bad.

We are timeshare owners with Royal Holiday Vacation Club. We saved for 2 years to have enough points to book a 'presidential' suite here. We were not informed that the hotel was under major construction. After the first night, we asked to be moved to the older building next door. They asked us to wait one more night, but not to worry as the construction didn't happen on the weekends. WRONG! 7 days a week they worked. We couldn't lay by the pool in peace; couldn't take a siesta in peace - constant noise! They did move us, but with great hassle and no apologies. The front desk staff was awful. But that's not the end of it. One night we went for a nice dinner at Italian restaurant on site (reservations required). They had a steak and lobster special - for an additional cost - which my wife ordered. I assumed (silly me) that the cost would be charged to our room - WRONG! When we finished, they asked for my credit card (remember we are OWNERS with gold wrist bands!). I produced it and they disappeared - for over 1/2 an hour. Finally the maitre d came over and said we had to go to the front desk to enter the pin on my card. I asked why not just charge it to my room - which they already knew by the reservation!!! I finally got my card back and signed a paper to charge to my room - 45 minutes later. NOTE: The next day the food and beverage manager came to us and apologized.

Good and bad

This was our first visit to this region and to the hotel. On the positive side: - Great location. Right on the fabulous beach, with continuous drinks service. Also across the road from La Isla shopping complex, which contains a good selection of shops, Aquarium with dolphins and some lovely little bar/restaurants overlooking the lagoon and also some fun water activities - Very friendly and helpful staff - Edgar, Felix and Felipe included - The violinist providing evening entertainment in the a la carte restaurant was good (though repetitive even on the 2 nights we went) - We were aware of the construction work but from our room (1005) it did not affect us, apart from certain walkways that were taped off Not so positive - We booked through our CLC membership, which was on room-only, so had to pay USD 62 pp pn for all-inclusive (compulsory). This did not represent good value for the two of us - The food in the buffet was not very inspiring and on occasions, we struggled to find anything appealing (and we have very eclectic tastes!) - Staff in the a la carte restaurant did not seem as well-trained as we expected and it took a long time to order a bottle of white wine off the wine list, which arrived warm. - The room we were in could easily accommodate 6 people and had plenty of cupboards for limited self-catering, plus table & chairs. However, there was nothing apart from a fridge (not even a kettle) and you are not allowed to bring food and drink up. - Entertainment while we were there was mainly karaoke and a magic show (in Spanish). It would be good to have something a little more grown-up and international in the evenings. Our first impression when arriving was that the hotel was reminiscent of 1970's 3-star Benidorm. We did warm to it during the week, due to the lovely staff we met and the weather. But next time we will probably try a different hotel.

I’ve been to Cancun many times and always stayed at the Park Royal. I was a little disappointed to see that the hotel was under construction, but it did not affect our stay. The activities guys were awesome. Gustavo, Benny, and Angel led great activities such as water aerobics, yoga on the beach, karaoke, and the pool party. They kept us laughing and entertained our entire stay. Felix, who works in the restaurant, was extremely nice and attended to our needs. I love this hotel and can’t wait to go back.
