Worst vacation we've had
PATRICK G.
Aug 11 2017
This was the worst vacation experience we have had. The flight was 6 hours late, when we arrived at the hotel they overbooked and didn't have a room for us. They then put us in a nicer Reserve room for the night but we had to check out the next day at noon and then our original room wasn't ready until 3pm. The whole process of checking out and checking back in cost me several hours with my family on day 2 of our vacation since I had to go to the front desk to check out and again to check in and the resort is very large. Because we didn't have a room until 3pm, we couldn't make reservations for the restaurants until we had the new room number so we had to wait until the afternoon on day 2 to make reservations and because of that we didn't get some of the restaurants we really wanted. In fact, they gave us reservations to one that we didn't even ask for. The hotel staff was not friendly at all from the front desk to the wait staff. The cleaning service wouldn't even come until after 4:30 each day. While we were at our stay the toilet broke at 10:30 at night on our third day and there were bugs on my clothes when we stored them in the closet so I had to keep them in my luggage the entire week. I was shocked at the good reviews and expected better. Our travel agent was able to get us $400 vouchers for another Apple vacation and it expires in one year. Sorry Apple, that isn't enough. At a minimum we should be able to use the vouchers for a longer period than one year. We have spent over $20,000 with Apple of the last few years and will be not be using Apple anymore based on how they handled this.

AMAZING STAFF!!!!

Hands down best staff out of all the resorts I have stayed at. The hotel is beautiful, food was great, the size of the resort was a big issue. You have to take a trolley almost every. We had an upgraded room by the Beach if your booking that's the way to go. Otherwise prepare go walk!!! If you dont want to catch a trolley its easy to get 15-20,000 steps a day. Trust me my sister got a standard room and we keep track of our steps. Plus her standard room was bigger than my upgraded room!

Paradisus Punts Cana

Aug 09 2014
The resort itself, along with the staff was excellent. However, we felt pressured to attend basically a time share program. Plus it was such a large resort, I would have preferred a more intimate resort. If I returned to Punts Cana, it would not be to the Paradisus resort.

Check in went good but we where bombarded with staff telling us to upgrade and how what we paid for only allowed us to a limit part of the hotel amenities. Then we sat through a travel seminar which we were forced into to only be treated rudely because we declined and the rest of the stay the staff where not friendly. We had problems with our toilet multiple times with no fix just temporary fixes day by day. We also had ants in our bed multiple days and the hotel just would keep changing sheets and leave a bottle of bug spray in our room for us to keep using. Tried to get another room but would not accommodate with out a $600 upgrade. We also booked this trip for our honeymoon and upon arrival no one had let the hotel know for that service provided. Not pleased with what we thought we where going to get and really did not.

We were not informed beforehand that we would be pressured to attend a 90 minute presentation. Our guide assigned to us when we arrived was not completely forthcoming about the presentation. He made a lot of promises about making our dinner reservations, and getting us vouchers for the spa, etc. and jewelry. The next morning when he was taking us to breakfast, we didn't realize we were getting primed for a presentation. When we left before the presentation, that was the last we ever saw of our guide and needless to say, he never made those dinner reservations or did we get any vouchers. We were also disappointed in the casino which consisted of only about 10 slot machines and a couple gaming tables. I must say that the entertainment in the theater was exceptional. The beach was absolutely beautiful. We also enjoyed the pool activities, water exercises and especially the water bike spinning classes. The instructors were great!! I also wish we were better informed of the different levels of wrist bands and what they meant before we made our travel arrangements.

We arrived to a broken bed that took 4 days to fix, however no money offered back or any services extra given. Room service repeatly came in though do not disturb signs were up. Shuttle forgot to stop at our hotel to get us the day for departure, they had us wait an hour to get on next shuttle causing us to almost miss flight. However, the beach was beautiful and the food was great.

Incredibly lush and tropical property with the best beach in Bavaro
Jeff T,
Fri Dec 14 01:28:34 EST 2018
We just spent a week at Paradisus Punta Cana with twelve travellers and enjoyed ourselves immensely. We arrived, as you do, disoriented and stressed from travelling and Carmen at the desk was quick to put our minds at ease and a smile on our faces. All of the staff are helpful and friendly and are happy to share stories about their country which was beneficial to us as many in our group weren't leaving the property. We found the quality and variety of the food to be excellent, especially in the a-la-carte restaurants. It's worth noting that, as long as you book the restaurants at least a day in advance, there was no difficulty getting a reservation, even for our large group. Also worth noting is the beach itself. Bavaro is one of the beaches I've seen, but a lot of seaweed can be turned up. We walked the beach from end to end and Paradisus had, by far, the most well-groomed and spacious beach of any property along the strip. It isn't the newest property so some of the buildings seem a little worn but everything is very clean and they appear to be doing small upgrades across the vast property which will no doubt take some time. Overall we had a wonderful week and would absolutely recommend Paradisus Punta Cana to our friends.

Service not as Great as the Environment

The landscaping, buildings and scenery at the Resort is terrific. It is beautiful and a great place to relax. Unfortunately, the service did not live up to the same standard. Two examples. When we checked in we were never given a coupon book offering discounts for various activities. Nor did we receive a daily snack delivered to our room. We only found about these benefits from one of our family members who did receive them. When we complained, we were told it was our fault - we should have asked. And later told that they were out of the coupon books when we registered. The worst part was the attitude. Later, as we were leaving, we were dropped off at the entrance point with our luggage where three porters were standing around. None asked why we were there, or did anything about the luggage. At the specified time, the van picking us up arrived. The driver never called our names. We saw it and ran to catch it, but the van drove off without waiting. When we complained to the porters, they did nothing except to tell us to talk to someone from the van company at a desk quite a distance away. The truth is the van had to go through 2 different gates to leave the property, but none of them took the initiative to call the gatekeepers and ask the van to return. We saw this lack of initiative often. The food was fine, the bartenders were great and the location lovely, but the kind of initiative that gives a resort a high level of service was often lacking. Thus I would give the place only 4 stars instead of 5..

Good overall

Spent a week at Paradisus Punta Cana all-inclusive. Large resort, family-friendly, beach is very nice and there are always available seating, lots of entertainment activities and nightly shows . Staff is very friendly. Food overall was ok, good selection for breakfast, lunch ,dinner but little variability day to day. The a la cartes were better choices for dinner, the best of which was Vento. Can book up to 6 a la cartes for a 1 week stay. Beware that Meliá (the patent company) is opening another resort nearby called the Circle and staff is recruiting people to sign up for a time share - like scheme for the Circle.

The nicest thing about Paradisus Punta Cana is its grounds. Regardless of where you are on the property, the surroundings are breathtaking. The second best thing about the Paradisus is its staff. The people working on the property are friendly, polite and soft spoken. We stayed in Royal Service; the best part of that was its location. It was on the beach and close to all amenities. A shout out to our concierge Miguel who did a fabulous job. Deserved mention are the boys staffing the beach, Royal Service pool and pool bar. They were always helping to set up chairs, bring drinks, food, etc. Maximo Cedano was one of the staff members in this group. Unfortunately, I didn't get anyone else's name. The nightly entertainment is somewhat lacking. The 'shows' they do have start at 8:30, a time when many adults are dining. There were a few nights of a beach party and/or lobby party but the dj seemed to have one playlist that he repeated at each party. The staff entertaining at the night parties ranged from lame to fabulous but they all worked very, very hard at entertaining the guests. This is my second time at Paradisus. I travel with my husband and my sister and her husband. We love it here primarily for the beautiful and lush surroundings, and the wonderful staff. I must add that although the rooms are somewhat dated, the bed is extraordinarily comfortable.

Paradisus Punta Cana is not 5* hotel. PERIOD. The bad stuff: Breakfast and lunch menu are very limited and repeated EVERY DAY. After 2 days I could not eat it anymore. A la carte restaurants were difficult to book. After eating once at Aqua a la carte restaurant I got food poisoning. The good stuff: The resort is very nice and well maintained. Grounds are beautiful. Our room was cleaned every day. In every bar and on the beach I had my favorite person who made drinks for me (tipping definitely helps). The beach is nicely kept, cleaned and you could find everything you need.
