The Resort/Facilities: On the surface, this resort is very appealing to the eye. However, once you take a closer look, it's average at best.- Room: Nice - a decent size with a unique layout and a nice shower - but our "mini-bar" (a poorly-situated, one-door fridge) was bare, the jacquzzi tub was less than inviting, toilet was quite cramped, and the phone didn't work. The air conditioner also made everything feel damp despite adjusting the temperature in either direction. - Pool: The pool was interesting. Nice big size, clear water, in-pool bar, lounging areas... Pretty much what you'd expect visually until you get in. I'm not a tall guy at slightly over 5'7", but it was a bit odd to find the water level was up to my neck. It was also fairly cold. I dealt with it fine, but there were plenty of others finding it pretty difficult to walk around - especially with drinks, which were served in tiny paper cups for those who didn't arrive with their own Yetis/mugs like we did. That aside, the bartenders were great and the drinks on par.- Beach: Sloppy. Seaweed all over the sand & a good 30 yds entering the water.- Spa: Excellent! Highly recommended. The Service: On average, all the staff members were very friendly and attentive. However, it'd often take several different people to provide a simple answer or point you in the direction. Like everyone was brand new. - Front desk: Spoke with the same person 3 times in 3 days to ensure we wouldn't have to change rooms for the last two nights of our trip that were in addition to the company-paid portion. Was told we'd be all set and just have to come back down on the day of the new reservation to provide a credit card. That day we were told we had to go to the other side of the resort to speak with a different group. Then they asked us to go back to the room to get our passports. When I returned, they said they actually didn't need them and just had to give new room keys. Get it together!- Maids: Not great. Consistently came as we were about to hit the pool, wouldn't come in, and never came back. We stayed 5 nights/6 days, and our room was only cleaned twice. Got to the point where we'd have to call down for towels. The Food: - Restaurants: Decent at best, and unnecessarily difficult to get reservations.- Buffet: Awful. Almost a week later and my body still doesn't feel quite right. Everything else in this review could be overlooked, but food alone would stop me from returning.

Lukewarm welcome

The grounds are very well maintained! Every place you look makes for a beautiful backdrop. My displeasure comes from the ocean being inaccessible. I travel to the Caribbean because sun and sand gives me life except here as soon as my cousin and I stepped on the sand we were solicited to buy bracelets. I stepped a little further in hopes of feeling the ocean wash up against my leg only to be greeted by a stranger who was upset that I didn’t want to shake his hand asking if I don’t want to touch black skin 🤦🏾‍♀️ I politely turned around and retreated back to the safety of the resort parameters since the seaweed prevented me from ocean-life anyway. I know I can’t fault the resort for the weather (it rained from the time we landed to the time wheels went back up with one full day of sun) but I commend them for making every effort in keeping us dry. I’m not convinced that I’ll come back since it’s not as inviting as I was assured they were. And thankfully I came with a group that provided plenty of activities for us and they made it worthwhile. Although I was disappointed that we were so far from the main resort/activities I know that it could’ve been worse.

This hotel is very nice. The staff here is very nice and very helpful. Restaurants were good. The activity staff are excellent. Especially Nixon, Raphyel, Reinaldo, Luis. They were very friendly and entertaining and good at including the people. The dancing at Gabi beach with the activity staff was a lot of fun. They do an excellent job. I have been to many resorts in the Dominican and I would return to this one.
