This Hilton is back to being a special place

The hotel has really cleaned up its facility. Excellent, modern room. Spotless! Staff was very helpful and cheerful. I needed help with the t.v. remote one night, and the hotel had someone at my door within moments. We stayed in the Palace Tower. Very nice.

My husband and I stayed at this BandB a few weeks ago. I am still marveling at how comfortable we were, both in terms of the physical accommodations and the warm, friendly atmosphere. Claudia offers her guests a lovely breakfast and a secure and convenient location (near public transportation and a cute village center). We highly recommend staying with her when you are in the Boston area.

I was booking a Hilton in Florida when I was told Hilton Honor member specials are available and if I just listened about them I would get HH points. Told me all about the great deal and not till the very end did the rep mention that we just had to listen to a 2 hour timeshare spiel. In Hawaii I endedd up telling them I would rather have stayed at a mediocre place and enjoyed myself than to have people try to humiliate me and my husband and talk down to us like we were dogs. They basically tell you 'no pressure' we'll just discuss and see if this is right for you. Our Lady smugly told us that she is very well compensated whether we buy or not. We were up front right away that we were not looking for a timeshare. They ask you personal questions about your likes and dislikes when you travel. Our sales rep began to mock me and several times told me I sounded like an 80-year-old and I was just weird because she didn't agree with my thoughts on travel. Then they go over what you spend and get now vs what you would get if you bought into their TS and basically tell you u r an idiot for wasting your money doining things the way u like doing them. The "closer" even told me 'this IS right for you, u just don't know it." She also said if I didn't think the TS was a good idea I wouldn't have accepted their great offer. The corporate rep in the end probably was the rudest of all. When we told her how we felt about the experience she condesendingly said 'sorry u got your feelings hurt' then proceeded to purposely insult us. We were respectful the entire time. She asked us to write down our contact info if we wanted to be placed on a do not call list and didn't give us one of the things promised. I'm embarrassed for Hilton. So many other wrong things, no space to tell. Wish I would have read other peoples warnings.

Property and Staff looking tired and outdated

We used to visit this property regularly in 99-2002. At the time, I worked for Hilton Corporate and new this property was corporate owned and managed and VERY well maintained. Since leaving Hilton, we began staying at other properties, like the Westin Maui and Kanapalli beach resort as well as the Princeville Westin Villas. We arrived here on Oct 12 of 2018 and were disappointed to see that the property has been somewhat let go-looking like a tired and neglected 80’s building in an amazing location. The Imari restaurant, which was an amazing Sushi restaurant, has been converted to an over priced Italian, aka Pizza joint; which by the way, you can easily drive less than 3 miles away for the same food at half the price. Might as well get your money’s worth for your $27/day self parking fee and drive to the better tasting and half the price pizza joint. The gym smells like musty old mold and the weight machines need greasing because they are rusted out. You now have to get your towels out of some “Big Brother” machine with your room key that tells you the hotel will charge you $20 for towels not returned. The rooms are sub-par now. Blank wall space with small towel bars where there should be tables or kitchenettes-clearly b/c they want you to spend money at their overpriced restaurants. Even the coffee machines are ridiculous b/c they want you to buy coffee at their restaurants. The food is standard Cysco Hotel Food fare-high fructose corn syrup, egg beaters, and hydrogenated oil, juice from concentrate, crap. The AC in our room was not working b/c the filter was so clogged with dust, it sounded like it was raining in our room. Something that should be regularly scheduled maintenance and not a guest alert problem. We had spent $8000 on this trip through Costco Travel, which included 2 rooms, airfare, resort fee and free breakfast for 4 for 8 days. I requested an adjoining room in June so our children could be next to us, but they put them on the other side of the building 🤷‍♀️. Needless to say, this property has gone downhill since the late 90’s when we stayed here, including the service. Property staff treats Costco travelers like they are second class guests who do not deserve the same treatment as those who reserve directly through Hilton. Lastly, the Ironman was going on while we were here so perhaps that’s why we got shorty treatment, but regardless...who checks in a family of five-wife and husband with 3 children and places them so far apart when the reservation was made in May for October??

Not sure what it takes to get an ocean view?

I made reservations far enough in advance and paid almost $400 per night for two rooms for two days stay. It was after Labor Day and the resort was practically deserted! I still didn’t get good ocean views! My son and his girlfriend were put in a handicap room which was strange as they are not handicapped. We stayed in the Lagoon tower. For the number of times I’ve visited, I’m tired of begging and paying for an ocean view and not getting one! Not sure I will go back anymore. Too frustrating to pay a lot and not get what I want!
