Spent too much for a lot of nothing
ROSE P.
Jan 17 2018
Their evening entertainment was centered around the children’s camp doing skits. Some nights there wasn’t any entertainment. Once the daytime events were over it was very boring unless you found a chair at a bar. Food was mediocre at best. Lamp in room broken and not fixed even though it was reported at checkin. Spent extra on ocean view and we got a room with a 4 ft wall on the balcony. I guess oceânicas means you should stand up to look. Nothing like the balcony pictures at all.

Cancun Family Visit

Traveled with the children to Cancun and we could not be happier with the reception and the overall service that we received!! Upon our we were met by the hotel staff who all had smiles and were able to deal with my broken Spanish speaking skills. One of the hotel greeters, Salvador, brought my family into the reception area and was very cordial and thoughtful!! He was able to assist us with all of the needed trips that we planned and I have nothing but high praise for all of the staff there, from the room service to the variety of restaurants that they offered there. When we return to Cancun or if my friends with family members are wishing to go to Cancun and they are wanting to experience a great family adventure, Ocean Coral and Turquesa will receive my highest recommendation!!

The stay was awesome, the pools and facility is clean, well maintained. The food is delicious. We will definitely go back to this resort. Our only complaint would be that the mattresses were horrible. The staff couldnt have been more accommodating.

I like how Apple puts these all inclusive packages together. What I don't like is how we are pushed to listen to a 2 or 3 hour sales pitch and when you do not buy, they become rude. Our saleslady walked away from our table and left us there. Rude, rude, rude.

Second H10 Hotel visit
JASON E.
Sep 23 2017
Our stay at H10's Ocean Coral and Turquesa in Riviera Maya was outback second stay with this chain. Our other was the Ocean Blue in Dominican Republic, so that's is where my comparison comes from, Coral and Turquesa lack some of the service that the Dominican resort had, all the staff were equally friendly, and all very helpful. Our room/ maid service was sub par, we had upgraded to the "privilege" status and that includes daily turndown and minibar restock, neither of which happened daily, and the one day happened at nearly 8pm. The food was exceptional, better than Dominican, unfortunately we were in the off season so not all the restaurants were open every day, not a big deal just slightly annoying. The poolside and organized entertainment was pretty terrible, it was done by amature performers, which was still pretty good for what it was, just not great. The beaches aren't cleaned very well at all really, organized seaweed is probably the best description I can think of. The pools were excellent at every point, butlers at the Privilege pool were amazing, Ricardo was the absolute best, that man worked like crazy to make sure our group of 10+ people were well supplied with great drinks. Pamela and Luis the Privilege concierge were excellent.

Not an ideal honeymoon
ADAM H.
Sep 06 2017
I would like to just start off by saying I really think this resort has great potential, and that during peak season, is probably a great time. Now that being said, it seemed like my wife and I picked an non-ideal time to visit this resort for our honeymoon. To elaborate on some of the issues we experienced: -Main walkways were closed --Our room was on the far west side of the resort, and the entire walkway from lobby and westward was blocked for roof repairs -Main restaurants closed for renovations --The restaurant by the bar pool halfway through our stay closed and immediately began demolition for renovations -Entertainment very lacking --This one disappointed us the most; it seemed like most scheduled events were skipped or cancelled. Entertainment staff did a subpar job of getting people together and engaged, and even sometimes, there were no entertainment staff around. --Furthermore entertainment staff that would focus more energy on selling external products like Coco Bongo (there outfits had the ads on them too!) -Beaches that were heavily littered with seaweed, and were unable to be maintained --I get that this isn't something you can control, but beaches are a huge selling point of any resort, and it's not fair for paying customers to book this resort without knowing the beach condtion -Birds --The birds that infested the resort were not enjoyable, and were just simply pests. They were very loud and would mooch for food A few other inconveniences that we had were a sink malfunction where the sink stopped working, then spewed black liquid; failed 'privilege' member features such as missing slippers/toothbrush and dirty robes (all of which I mentioned to staff but none were resolved); and extremely long waits at the route 66 restaurant. Now please understand that I'm not writing this to disrespect the resort or write about how 'bad' it is, because I really DID enjoy the resort and have a good time. However, this was my wife and I's honeymoon, and wouldn't you want your experience to be perfect? I totally understand that nothing is perfect, but for the price we paid, and the experience we got, we aren't satisfied. I did a lot of research and spent a lot of time picking where to spend our honeymoon, and Ocean Coral y Turquesa had everything we wanted. That is why I am disappointed it wasn't as perfect as I know it could have been. I understand every resort will have an off-week, but I don't believe it's fair for customers to pay for those weeks.

All good as other say. But here are some different points: The rooms with two beds are NOT QUEEN SIZE as their website says. They are FULL SIZE. But there is a decent sofa bed that worked for our teen son just fine. Book directly using their Oceanhotels.net website for the best price. They show in a box what the same room via Expedia other travel sites charge...higher! They have an "OFFERS" tab with additional discount codes. And join their free frequent stayer club (not the timeshare) for extra free perks. When booked on their site, you get free r/t airport transfers using TraficTours company. Your email confirmation has a link to book the transport. Include your flight times and they'll reply with directions including return hotel pickup time...3 hours prior to your flight...so fudge an hour if you don't have any checked luggage. It's only a 20 minute ride. All handled as promised & on time. If you want to book Privilege category, be my guest. I couldn't see anything wrong or "standard" about the regular category. We had great quality everything. Priv lounge & restaurant looked dead and boring. We could use their pool, just not their beach palapas. No big deal. And they have cold Heineken & Sol beer in cans at their beach shack for anyone. Just ask. The beach is clean and clear on normal weather days. If it's windy or stormy, it gets churned up close to shore. Same as most resorts for miles either side of Puerto Morelos. No wind a few days for us meant crystal clear sandy bottom sea from the first step in. And out by the ropes it's about 5-6 feet deep and very clear. Many people swam 1500 yard laps the entire length of the property in the chilly sea water. There is no SARGASSUM seaweed problem right now. They do have some sea GRASS washing ashore that's quickly raked up by a tractor many times a day. Definitely nothing bad like years ago in many pictures posted here on TA. Towel Game still in effect here. But even during our New Year's Holiday Week here it was always easy to get a chair THAT WE USED AND THEN TOOK OUR STUFF WHEN WE LEFT...thank you very much people who would save eight prime waterfront chairs at 6 am then not return until 2pm!!! If at all!! Here's a challenge to OCT Guest Services: Figure out a solution. You'll be highly regarded by every traveler. Maybe as simple as the pool boy out there at 7-9 am simply saying, "Please no saving chairs for more than 30 minutes." Hobie cats and kayaks available for free. When I asked on the forum someone said $20 for a hobie. So they got ripped off. It does require reservations one day ahead usually, and in 30 minute increments, total 1 hour daily so you could book two slots. And please, if you don't know how to sail, ask for help. THEN tip the guy $20 for teaching you or taking you for a ride. But lessons are technically free. While we were there, they instituted a US$2 fee per person for a paper bracelet if using water sport equipment. This is the Puerto Morelos Marine Sanctuary fee they charge to snorkelers going to the reef. First time ever I've seen them do this at a resort. Oh well. We kept our bracelets on so we didn't have to pay multiple times. If you want a nice spa service, it's good at this resort. But expensive. If you want value, head to either end of the property where the "piratas" have their operations. North end is $39/hour. And there's a junkity junk souvenir stand there as well. Tennis courts are astro-turf. There are two. They are fine. Plus a soccer/basketball separate court. There's free water & towels. All equipment available for free at the activity hut by the Michael Jordan statue. The rackets are typical Wilson and decent condition for free use kind. Balls are used and sometimes new cans are available. But still fine. We checked out the Kids Club. Spoke to the counselors and a few parents. They raved about it. Counselors were fantastic. Took the kids all over the resort, not just keeping them locked inside all day like other places. They even took the kids to meals if you don't mind yours only eating French fries and ice cream! Most kids fix their own plate...ha! And if yours are under 4 years old, you can stay and use the facilities. Art projects, beach games, fun fun fun. My kids used the Teen Club twice to play video games & pool. It was a nice hang out spot. All the food everywhere was great. Pleasant surprise. Filets were great, seafood very fresh (love the whole fried fish!), and we never went hungry. Priv guests got reservations but weren't necessary at all. Never waited more than 2 minutes at 7pm. This resort is the top of the "affordable" category. Know that next door all the "Apple Vacations/AMResorts" owned resorts are 2x-5x higher price for same or lower quality. Ocean Coral & Turquesa is definitely a great value play. So what that the elevators don't work. It's only 3 floors high with lobby level in the middle. Go and have fun!

CLEAN BEACH
TEQUILASHOTS, Wayne, New Jersey
Wed Jan 17 05:34:40 EST 2018
HOTEL: very clean, bedrooms were spacious but the air conditioner could of been a bit cooler. No alcohol in rooms. I went in August and there were huge grasshoppers all over the property some would even fly after you. Im talking about up to 3-4 inches long grasshoppers ALL OVER THE PROPERTY on windows, walls, doors -- one took chase after my daughter as we walked out of our room-- might of been the smell of perfume or something. I mean when the actual staff were grossed out by them and their the natives imagine me. FOOD: nothing to write home about when it comes to the buffet, not much seafood to be found. the staff at the buffet were friendly. The best restaurants were the Italian which you sat outside for and the Hibachi. To eat at the Hibachi you must get ready to be in line at least an hour before they start taking reservations. Its worth the wait, but it gets a bit annoying to be there waiting in line. THE GROUNDS: were kept very very clean (except for the pesky grasshoppers). the beach was very nice but do not expect for a bar to be near it or any servers to go out there to serve you drinks(that sucked)-- you only have that service if you are by the pool area and unfortunately im a beach person. EXCURSIONS: The staff was pleasant and informative at the excursion desk. We did one that gave you 3 things to do. ATV ridding, Zip line and we also went into an underground cenote (cave), lunch was also included. This excursion was awesome and the guides were both pleasant and very nice. we started with the ATV part of the excursion, this took us deep into the jungle and you had to keep up so if you are inexperienced leave it to someone with a lot of upper body strength to control the ATV, there were lots of bumps and turns, it was my first time and i loved it. That ride took us to a beautiful clearing where you found a huge lake, the water was crystal clear, there you could jump off the cliff into the water or go down some stairs. it was really breath taking because it was in the middle of nowhere. from there we rode back to do our zipline--- first time for me and it was also amazing. the crew were cautious and explained in detail. This included 3 ziplines one leading to a higher and higher one. from there you were brought into a cave (cenote) you got to see fruit bats in there and its just something you have to see for yourself, mother nature at its best-- the water is freezing but it was amazing. After that there was a nice spread of rotisserie chicken, rice, beans, nachos, tacos and so on for lunch all you can eat. All in all the hotel was not bad, but i wouldn't stay with them again. if the price is right i would recommend it, but once was enough for me.

Great place to relax

Spent four nights here the week before Christmas, 2017. With just one caveat (at end of this review) this was the best place we have stayed among all-inclusive resorts. This is a large facility with close to 600 rooms, I believe. We reserved what we thought would be a standard room but seemed to get an upgraded room instead. It was a garden view room--which meant a jungle of tropical trees and birds right outside our balcony. The balcony had a table and chairs but also a jacuzzi we did not use. Being on the third floor, we also had a view of the ocean. Inside the room everything was comfortable and comforting. Two beds, TV (seldom watched), bathroom with separate areas for toilet and shower. The bathroom also had something unique in our experience--scales on which to weigh oneself. Given all the food that one could eat, it was actually helpful to have it. There were four swimming pools. We avoided the (primarily) children's pool at one end of the complex and the very noisy, adult pool with swim-up bar in the center. The other two pools, one in the center, where hourly sports opportunities were held, and one at the end by our room both allowed us to swim laps and enjoy quiet times. There were bars scattered about the facility though I most enjoyed Mike's, a coffee shop. We ate at the main buffet restaurant for breakfast every day. We had lunches and dinners at several of the stand-alone restaurants; they did not take reservations but we had no difficulty getting into the ones we wanted at the first serving except for the outdoor Italian one. We went there on a different day and got in at the final table. Food quality varied some though there was something for anyone's taste buds. The evening musical events were varied and fair. We ended up most evenings after dinner going to the earlier music duos in the lobby and having a nice drink there. One tip--arrange transportation from the very modern Cancun airport with the shuttle associated with the hotel. The caveat: on the day we left we attempted to use the elevators for the first time so we would not have to carry hour suitcases down the stairs. As my wife entered the elevator, the doors immediately shut, knocking her down. this is something that needs to be fixed.

Nice place to stay

First time to Mexico, came here for a wedding and wasn't entirely sure what to expect. The room was very nice, food was good - to get the great food do not do the buffets for dinner, go to the sit down restaurants!! We went to the Blue Moon, La Petite Creperie & Hacienda Los Girasoles Restaurant and had excellent food. The portions are done so that you have a 3 course meal, not just a main. One thing I wish we had been told by our travel agent was the option to upgrade to Privilege. It was too expensive to do it once we arrived, but gave you perks like spots on the beach in the quieter areas and the nice loungers. The mojitos and piña colada were very well done at the quieter pool located near La Petite Creperie.
