The resort was nice, large, a bit dated. Staff was very nice. The AC was not great, a dehumidifier in the room would have been a great addition. The restaurants were very very warm. There was a planned power outage one night. It was a 2am; however, I do wish they would have given us information on that occurring. The Apple representatives were fantastic. The entertainment staff were good and worked very hard. I like the variety of activities during the day and shows at night. The variety in specialty restaurants was very nice as well. Overall it was a nice place, I would go back.

Decent but not fantastic (but has that potential)

Hotel excels in several areas (food, friendly & enthusiastic employees,) but small problems in other areas detracts. For example, the room temperature is apparently locked down to 26C (79F) even though there is a thermostat that you can set (but appears to be blocked). Talked to several other guests who had exact same problem. When you ask the hotel staff, various answers include "we're working on it", "there is a HVAC problem being fixed", etc. Lastly, be careful of the beach vendors selling cheaper tour packages. We did one, and it was near kidnapping like experience.

The room could have been a little cleaner, just needs some attention to doors, corners etc. Did not like the fact that check in is at 3. We arrived at 4 and our room was not ready until 5. We felt they were just giving the time share/vacation package people time to get there claws into you to try and sell you there vacation. The food was AMAZING. Beach, pool and drinks were great. This was our first all inclusive and we will definitely go back again. It would be nice to be able to leave the resort and be able to see some of the D.R. Amenites in the room, were really nice. Entertainment was good.

Public restrooms were NOT kept clean at all, had to return to the room for any level of bathroom use. We were in a group and some received excellent maid service, we had our towels set on the counter not even put in the racks, request for clean sheets did not happen. Worst was the restaurant service staff. They were friendly, yet slow and wouldn't refill anything unless you requested and they checked to see if you water or coffee glass was empty before they'd go get more. Public areas clean, everyone friendly. Pool area kept clean as well as buffet was always clean and tidy. Excellent beach front.

Not a five golden apple resort
BARBARA R.
Apr 06 2018
Room was dirty, no toilet paper was told I could wait for it. I did get my room changed on the second day but only because I threw the maid out. Food at the resort was average. Most of the time it was not hot. Over all very disappointed with this resort. No way is it a five golden apple resort. Needs much updating and a over haul to this era.

Def coming back!!!

Picked this resort to have our beach wedding and we were def not disappointed. Everyone was so polite and welcoming felt right at home. From the concierge, wedding coordinator, cleaning lady and waiters they all were great. My family and friends including our daughter had a great time! Both buffets were soooo good. We especially loved Villa Marina bc it was right on the beach and their dinner was delicious! Ate there twice! Our waiter Eddy was awesome. He was very attentive and nice everytime we ate there! Our wedding was magical! More than what we expected! Natalie the wedding coordinator was so helpful and made it stress free! That helped since I have a toddler. She handled all the small details and kept me updated on the weather in case it rained during our dinner reception which it did but she took care of it. She did an exceptional Job! It was the wedding of my dreams!!!! We had our dinner reception at the steakhouse and it was soooo delicious! And my wedding cake was soooo tasty. I wish I could’ve brought some home lol. I can’t say enough about this resort! We totally loved it and we will def be coming back soon!!!

3rd Year Staying at Ocean Blue! Our Home Away from Home!
KayFranklin, Fort Washington, Maryland

My husband and I have been vacationing in Punta Cana for the past three years and have stayed at Ocean Blue each time. We are simple vacationers. Give us a clean room, good food, good drinks, nice service, and nice people, and we're satisfied. Like any resort/vacation spot, there are things that can be improved; however, we've never been ignored or brushed off when we've needed assistance with something. This is a small, personable, family friendly resort. Everyone is friendly, the food is GREAT, its beautiful, and quite relaxing. The entertainment team is great, and all of the staff is extremely helpful. Shout out to Alex (Sexy Black) at the lobby bar. So fun, so full of life! And to the BEAUTIFUL Rafaela for taking care of us each evening! The only drawback to this resort is the H10 concierge team hassling vacationers to listen to a timeshare presentation. If a guest declines, then No should be No. Because the concierge staff members are paid by commission, they are extremely persistent which can be annoying. However, I hear that many resorts are starting to do this. VACATIONERS: WELCOME BREAKFAST = TIMESHARE PRESENTATION. If you're not interested, please decline! Overall , Ocean Blue is a beautiful, quaint resort, that's worth giving a try. We'll be back next year for our 4th stay!

Just Say No

First impression: Employees have no sense of customer service even if you tip them. Rude, disrespectful, would rather run you over than be polite. The golf carts set up to help you cover the long treks around the resort, are often empty, and ignore you if you try to flag them down. Check-in is a nightmare, they told us upon arrival they were preparing a certain room for us, come back to the desk at 3pm. We went to lave lunch and explore. A trip by our assigned room revealed through the open door that the room was flooded, with water dripping from the ceiling a/c vent and ceiling light fixture. When we came back as instructed after at 3pm, they told us our room was not clean yet. We told the clerk we walked by the room and the door was wide open, and we saw the flood and they would have to assign a different room. He asked us if we did not yet have our room key, how did we know the room was flooded? Uhmm, through the wide open door. His response was, So, you have not yet been in the room, have you? You couldn’t know if the room was prepared or not, could you? Basically, we are liars. OK, get a supervisor, the first one called housekeeping, then maintenance, neither answered. So we were asked to step aside while they checked in others, and we refused. A second supervisor came over and politely apologized and assigned us a new room. We gave the bellhop our new room number and his promise to deliver our luggage in 10 minutes, happened an hour later. The room is dreary, white and blue, no artwork, nothing in the mini-bar, but it’s clean. We make our way to the pool, go to get beach towels, can’t get any because we did not get towel cards at check in. The Week: The resort is adorable, pools beautiful, beach is stunning and the weather perfect. Lots of visible maintenance issues. The bathrooms at the Marina beach restaurant and at the bar at the pool, stop up and overflow on the floors by noon every day. Housekeeping is present all day long, but no proactive prevention is done, just plunge, snake and mop all afternoon. You end up going back to your room dripping water and sand for 50 yards. Food: Same food day after day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Did not eat at the specialty restaurants as they all use the same kitchen. We heard others complain the steaks were unidentifiable at the steakhouse, Italian food the same as the buffet, the Route 66 burgers returned to the kitchen uneaten. Why wait an hour to get the same slop the buffet is serving? We only heard good things about the Japanese Restaurant but that early morning long line reservations were a pain. Lunch at the marina beach restaurant simply horrible. You can’t even eat a salad, the lettuce is all stems. The same desserts as at buffet, we lived off the delicious fresh sliced fruit and rotisserie chicken for the week. They act like they will get you ICE when you ask for it, but they won’t, you have to get it from a bar. My husband suffered a miserable stomach ailment the last day and was not sure he could even get on the plane to come home. The Drinks: We were told on the transport bus not to drink, Pina Colada’s, Bahama-Mamas, and basically any frozen rum drink you want to drink on a tropical vacation, because it would give us diarrhea. El-Presidente beer, yum, and the wines were awful. Ice and bottled water all week long. You get no more service or better liquor if you tip, so don’t bother. There is no wait staff at the pool or beach, get up and get your own. This saved us a lot of money, as we are usually very generous to wait staff. Housekeeping: Tip them and you will have fresh towels daily, Dos Equis in cans, sodas and plenty of bottled water. $5 per day was worth it. Cockroaches: Yes indeed H10 Timeshare Sales: Anybody in a white shirt with embroidered “H10” would love to help you anyway they can, meet you for breakfast, give you a tour, lead you to your room, up-grade your room, free spa visits. If you want to buy a timeshare take the first one that grabs you and go to the presentation, take your credit cards and spend 4-5 hours with the hard sale. If you DON’T want a timeshare, be VERY FIRM, don’t break your stride, don’t meet eyes with them, don’t let them sit on your lounge chair with you. Just say NO, (not NO THANK YOU, Just NO) and a 1,000 firm times saying NO, threaten to call security. The H10 guest are known as “Privileged”, and you will be reminded that you are not one frequently - we knew from day one we would not be back, so it didn’t hurt our feelings. The Privileged have their own golf cart transports, not for the underprivileged. Vendors: No where nearly as bad as in Jamaica Activity Entertainment: We are not joiners, so it’s nice they have the two big pools if you prefer peace and quite, we did not go to the nighttime shows. I would like to mention the big star is known as “Superman”. He only wears one sock, he’s easy to find. Final Insult: At the airport we heard from other guest at Ocean Blue and Sand, their BUTLER helped them morning noon and night. What Butler?!?! Oh, the one they give you at CHECK IN, when you get your TOWEL CARD. They said they still wouldn’t go back, even with a Butler. We are seasoned All Inclusive vacationers, this being our 11th and by far, worse experience. Will never book an OCEAN Resort or an H10 Resort again. We will go back to Punta Cana as the weather in April was awesome, and we enjoyed the pool, beach and abundant sunshine, we would even consider retiring there.

For Gods Sake don't go here!!

Well, we were told when we arrived the only restaurant that you make reservations at is the Japanese restaurant. Then we found out we were on the 3rd floor with NO elevators. Well my boyfriend is a diabetic and walking 3 flights of stairs all day would be to much so we asked for something on the ground floor. We were told NO.They had no rooms. Which was a huge lie as there were many rooms available. Then we went to dinner at the steakhouse, 5th in line when they opened we asked to eat inside we were told they were full. Yet 3 people in front of us 2 asking for outside and they were full. Then we waited outside watching others get served dinner while we kept asking to get something to drink and order our food. finally we got our food and the steaks were not edible. 2 1/2 hours total to get food only to not be able to eat it. The next morning we were hounded to pay 5000 dollars for future discounts to H10 hotels. We declined. We asked about the Japanese restaurant and were told go stand in line at 11 and wait like everyone else. So I did. I counted again 9 people in front of me shouldn't be a problem well when it was my turn I was told they were full. So as I stood there discussing this with my boyfriend the next person in line was allowed to make reservations and so was the next, when I questioned the girl she only would say full to me. The language barrier is huge here. So we went to the reception desk and complained and they got us reservations for 7:45 at dinner there were 15 empty chairs and people turned away outside waiting to see if there was room. The next day we went on an excurision 15 minutes away and were told we had to be there by noon and would be back no later then 5:15. Well that meant no lunch so we asked to make reservations at the Mexican restaurant and sure enough they said they made them. funny how they don't take reservations but then do. Well our excursion ended at 5 and we boarded a van back with other people from other resorts. We passed Ocean blue 3 times and kept telling him there is our resort and he kept saying yes. We arrived back at 6:47 starving with reservations at 7:15 we rushed to go to dinner and guess what no reservations and we were turned away from a restaurant. So we decided to go to the Italian restaurant who also told us we needed reservations but the place was 3/4 empty and it was now going on 8 and they close at 9. While we stood there again pissed a man walks in and says I have 8 people can you seat us and they did immediately. So I took out my camera and started to take pictures of the empty restaurant, the woman walked over and sat us immediately. The next morning while in the pool talking to people we had met they told us they went to the Mexican restaurant no reservations about 7:10 and got right in. So why were we being treated like this? I believe it has to do with the airlines you fly. See they give you a colored arm band according to your airline. For whatever reason my airline is not on their good list. When we left we called for our bags to be picked up at 10, having to be in the lobby by noon, We wanted to eat breakfast in the buffet even though the food is god awful and I mean awful inedible but we have a long flight home and knew we needed to eat. So we waited and called every 15 minutes and waited. Finally at 11:45 we knew we were going to have to drag our luggage down 3 flights of stairs on our own. We tried to catch a shuttle to take us to the lobby but no luck . They run from 7 am to 2 am. Well not really they run far and few between and you never see one after 6 pm. So we walked in the heat with our luggage to the lobby and they told us our airline was there 5 minutes ago and left. Well they didn't, he was still there waiting for us. We were 5 minutes late getting there because of staff not showing up. We watched through the week and repeatedly commented on why people were dragging their own luggage and not calling for room service, Now we know why. I paid for an all inclusive which meant food and I was deprived food the whole vacation. I didn't pay to eat at a crappy buffet with goats mean for a week, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I will be contacting my travel agent and demanding I get some sort of refund. I waited 7 months for this vacation and it was ruined an a night mare. Know wonder they hit you up the first day for their time share if they waited to the end no one would every buy anything. Oh and the power kept going out which meant you getting get in or out of your room and there was no running water during the outages nor could you get into your safe in your room. God help you if you had a plane to catch and your passport was locked up.
