Our 7th time! Please read the review because this was a doozy

This was our 7th time visiting. We love Ocean Blue and that has not changed after this visit. My husband because VERY ill on our 3rd day with cellulitis and could not walk. We went to the resort medic and he immediately told us we needed to go to the local hospital (scary to us for sure, it was a taxi ride). We arrived and I will admit that the hospital is very "third world" like. No english and they only take cash. Due to his condition, they admitted him. The day before we were to leave back home, he was brought back via taxi to resort. Once he arrived, the staff was VERY accomodating to him with golf carts, etc. Every server hugged him and cared for him. They made arrangements for a wheelchair for us at the airport and were fabulous. Once again, Ocean Blue doesn't disappoint. Too bad we didn't get to enjoy the sun, libations and staff this trip.

We arrived on a Saturday night. We were welcomed to the resort and checked in. We were given our rooms. Our rooms were clean and kept that way the whole trip. The food was outstanding. We ate at all the restaurants except for the Route 66. The morning buffet was good with a lot of choices. We ate lunch at the pool buffet everyday, which was good too. Some of our group went fishing. They set there trip up through our Apple representative. They had a great time and caught a some fish. Our hotel allowed them to bring a few back and their chefs prepared them for us for dinner that night. Best fish I have had in my life!!! Plus the presentations for beautiful. We also went on another excursion to snorkel, beach, and fresh water pool. Our Apple representative were helpful and attentive. The pool and beach were fun. The entertainment at the pool was great. Our service was great. The waiters, entertainment, and bartenders were attentive. As a whole, we had great time and would recommend this resort to family and friends.

The Great: Size of property, opportunities for activities and interests, the hotel staff and Apple reps, stores, the coffee shop, spa, main dining hall food including variety, preparation and overall deliciousness that we only went to one of the 7 options dining restaurants. The Lobby and lobby bar was huge , comfortable and gorgeous we had big card games many nights after the pool/beach. The pools were huge and gorgeous, the beach was well maintained and perfect. There was an optional tram service that circled all day, it was nice to use if you wanted. The rooms were nice and clean but the beds were hard, pillow flat and the couches worn while the balcony was huge but had two chairs. Just seemed an after thought. The bad: Still don't understand why they push a bunch of frozen but weak drinks on you. You'd get a sugar headache long before any kind of buzz, but we found just getting things like gin/tonic or a beer(selection was only the local beer) so if you're a craft beer person, not the place for you. That being said, we weren't there to party, so we found it not a high priority. The pushiness of the H10 staff to sell you their travel club was unbelievably rude and the biggest waste of time. You literally couldn't get out of their way for two days of begging to attend and then we finally got up and left after an hour of not even getting into the presentation. We didn't leave the property, but did check into off site excursions. They seemed incredibly expensive once you added up for a family of 5. Our kids were fine with all the things that the property already offered which were awesome. Many guests we spoke with who did the tours hinted that they weren't really worth the price. Nobody spoke of any excursion that was a can't miss. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, the shows, food, spa/gym and general hotel staff were amazing. The first night our air conditioner was creaky and loud, one call and it was fixed the same day. I'd recommend this property very much for families with middle school and up kids like we have.

Besides the Hotel being under construction/fixing things up it was a very nice stay. Minor problems we all had was because of areas like our hotel entrances being roped off leveling us to enter at our on risk or walking through trees to get in side entrances while they did roof work. As far as the food/entertainment......OMG the food was amazing no matter what buffet or restaurant you went. The best guy on the resort was my new "family" Juan Chocolate! if it wasn't for him and his great attitude for the job and friendliness to my whole group I'm not sure we'd have had as great a week as we all did! Juan and his crew by far were the best part of vacation besides the weather! We as a group will be back, as long as Juan Chocolate is there guaranteed!!

The hotel staff was not not great. We couldn't even get a blanket for our bed, towels were a struggle to get, re-stocking the mini fridge did not happen. We brought it to theattention of the hotel and our Apple person on site. Air conditioner was broken in room. 2 dinners we received menus but never received the dinners. Spa service not given but promised. We were told you get perks if you become a privilege member. We were simply looking for towels, sheets, the basics that we paid for.

The staff makes this hotel extra special. Choc o Latte ( Juan ) is one of a kind. He makes you feel like you are the most important guest every time he sees you. He could give classes to other resorts. We will definitely be back.

Apple repress who met us at the airport really helped spped the process along-very appreciated. By all means DO NOT get sucked into the time share portion of this resort!!!!!The apple rep Cesar was fantastic! He made sure he got anything we could need and more. His recommendations for excursions were spot on and he was welcoming and friendly ecery time we saw him. The resort: Older, doing some repairs, but very clean and the staff was always working hard to keep things clean. Drinks very good. Buffet, while not always to my taste, always had a wide assortment of food, however some stations the food was lukewarm. The servers at the buffet we very accommodating. the resturaunts: not that impressed overall. The Japanese resturaunt was delicious and we ate there twice, the French was very good as well, but the others left something to be desired. meat was very tough. Our rep made meal reservations for us which saved us standing in line for the Japanese, however both times weren't what we were told (they worked us in anyway so no big deal). The pools very nice. The beach.....full of seaweed the entire week. We were told this had to do with the recent hurricanes, however we never went in the ocean due to this. beach buffet with great views. Overall this is a smaller resort so everything was a scaled down version of the all inclusive I had stayed at before but it certainly met our needs for the week.Again, AVOID AT ALL COSTS the time share people, specifically Valdimir who was extremely rude and condenscending.

This is my 3rd trip to Punta Cana and my finances 10+. We've stayed at different resorts each time. We chose This one because we were bringing our 13 and 15 year old. This by far was one of my favorites! It had an excellent buffet. Including the pasta made to order in front of you. The staff, from check-in to housecleaning, restaurant to bartenders, and entertainment were phenomenal. The resort is smaller (which we personally enjoyed). We've stayed at some that were just to large to get around or wait on shuttles in the heat. If there were anything that I'd say kept it from 150% the best, it was our bed wasn't comfortable. However, that could just be preference. This was definitely a good choice for our teenagers to have activities as well, but we would definitely stay here again for our couples only trip.

Great food options!

Good was great with a different option available almost every night. Groundd are large with lots of walking from hotel room to restaurants, though, but the run a lil golf cart trolley if you don't want to walk. Staff are friendly. Beach has huge sand bags in front of it due to hurricane damage but connects to nice beach to the right. Local shops are to the left of property, which are pretty run down but cheap. Did bike ride one day with hotel guide, which was pretty cheesy and only brought you to run down part of town with a few shops.

I can't say anything bad about this resort. The workers were amazing, the resort was beautiful and clean. There were always workers out and about either cleaning the grounds or painting etc. The buffet food changed every day so you weren't eating the same types of foods every day. The A La Carte Restaurants were all amazing (Steakhouse is worth the wait). Everyone we spoke to there were super friendly and very helpful. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to go back

A total of eight of us spent 10 glorious days at the Ocean Blue & Sands Resort. This was my 5th time here and I have never been more impressed and happy. From the moment we got out of our transfer, we were greeted with open arms from Ocean Blue staff that were expecting us. We were all treated to a "blue" drink and then went to the reception. Ebert and Julio made us feel right at home and made my family feel so special. We were given our room keys and enjoyed a ride down to our door. Caesar, Pedro, and Jose were nothing but gentlemen and helped us with our every need the entire trip. The maids that cleaned our room did an excellent job and so I left them some $$ each morning. Our first night there, we enjoyed an incredible dinner at the Sensai Restaurant. We pretty much tried every restaurant on the property and really had zero complaints. As always, it was good to see Benjamin at Mike's Coffee House. He always welcomes you with a smile and or a hug. We got up early every day and walked the beach and then headed off to breakfast. Alexandra was amazing and had our table for eight ready each morning around 8:30am. The weather was absolutely terrific with the rain mostly at night. From being a 'regular' at Ocean Blue, we know the amigo's serving us at the different bars quite well. Manuel, Yohan, Yimbu, and Bienevido all are such nice people and like to put 'mucho gasolina' in your drink. I can't say enough about the entertainers at the resort and there is always something to get involved with each and every day. Minimi, Black Coffe, Juan Chocolate, and Superman and simply outstanding. Not only do they get you involved with the daily activities, but they sit and talk to you and make you feel quite special. Each night, a live show is available at 9:30pm. The music and dancing is pretty good and they also get the audience to participate in the pre-show activities. If you want to go somewhere and feel important and enjoy paradise, Ocean Blue is the place to be. My wife and I have travelled to many islands and resorts over our 25 years of marriage and we continue to say, "why go anywhere else when you get treated like family at Ocean Blue?" I almost forgot..........Elvin is the most caring and wonderful restaurant manager ever imaginable. This may be a little strong to say, but my family and I almost feel like royalty when we vacation at Ocean Blue. To Ebert and your entire staff, THANK YOU!! My wife and I are already planning another trip back this April. Mr. Clean and Family

We had a wonderful week at ocean Blue, damn trip advisor people had me all worried for no reason. There were NO people bothering us about timeshares, NONE !! I even asked about timeshares and couldnt get anyone to talk to me. We stayed in #4228 & 4231, it was a nice area, nice rooms, AC worked very well in both rooms. The view was of the back road but who cares, you're in the room to poop, shower and sleep and all of that went very well. The pools were incredible, the largest pools we've ever seen and we have traveled the West Indies for 15 years. Oscar ran the buffet for breakfast and Lunch and he was wonderful, a big smile and hug greeted me every time we walked in. The bars all served good, strong drinks, the housekeepers were there every day with fresh towels and linen, the fridge was always stocked and small bottles of good booze was left there every day. The large sandbags in the water were fine, didnt hurt the view at all, they groomed the sand every morning to rid it of seaweed. All in all, it was a wonderful 6 days in Punta Cana, I would definately return to Ocean Blue and Sands..

A week in paradise

So we ended up picking here due to the positive reviews and because of the food. I can't give it 5 stars though and here's why: the H10 reps are every where and they try to get you to join their vacation points program, which is fine if its something your in to. But they try to snag you with "welcome breakfast", "my boss asked me to send you", "get your free beach bag". I think if you say no once, that should be enough. WIFI: yes its free but it doesn't work very good. The closer you are to the main building, the better it works but it is intermittently. Rooms: room we were in was a little dated and needed some repairs, our view was of the service road. Fridge was stocked the first few days but after that we had to track housekeeping for more waters and beer. Upon arriving the fridge had broke and leaked water all over the floor. Thanks to Big J who made sure it was fixed right away. He checked on us daily to make sure we were doing okay. Why I gave it 4 stars: the staff are amazing. So friendly and go out of their way to make sure your having a good time. There is always something going on entertainment wise. We watched one show while there and it was awesome. There was nightly bingo games to win rum and champagne. Pools were kept nice and clean and the main pool was always so nice and quiet (but if you want an umbrella chair, get out their early). We didn't spend much time on the beach but there was plenty of chairs and they now have grass huts (beach beds are for privilege members). Seaweed is cleaned away daily. THE FOOD. The main reason I picked this place. The buffet was sometimes hit and miss, but otherwise they had something for everyone. We tried the following restaurants: Sensei (Japanese food with a show), Route 66 (American diner), Margarita (Mexican) and El Bourgeon (Steakhouse). We never had a bad meal at any of those places, we went to the steakhouse 3 times we liked it the best. FYI the burgers at Route 66 aren't fully cooked but that's how most restaurants in America serve their burgers. I was in love with their guacamole! We went to Mikes Coffee twice daily, it was probably my favorite spot. My favorite was Café au Lait. So overall it was a really good trip away and we will be back.
