Disappointed

This resort was just ok. I would say 3 star. When we were there the beach was covered in seaweed and the smell was unbearable. They know this happens every 2-3 years and were not prepared. I also think Apple vacations should have been aware of this problem and let us know before booking.

Overall the resort was fine. Some of the employees especially resturant were not friendly and a couple rude. The vendors inside resort was very annoying. They would not stop pushing. I can understand that while out in the communities but while in resort was not pleasant at all. Our group of 14 was delayed due to flight canceled. Apple sent us to another resort (Dreams) We felt Apple handled that well. Dreams was very beautiful & we will consider that resort for next trip to Punta Cana.

Lovely resort. Great service and staff. Reception(check in/check out) staff not very friendly or helpful. Rest of staff was amazing! Loved Edwin at the lobby bar! He was awesome. “Chocolate” was the best at entertaining us at the pool. Would return here again and I e been to the DR 3 times at other resorts

We started with the Apple rep putting us on the wrong bus ( after tipping 3 separate individuals that grabbed our bags and didn’t want to give them back) and the driver trying to make us stay while he did nothing. We left to find the Apple rep with the driver yelling at us. We checked into a room ( without our airplane neck pillow that was lost somewhere between the bus and our room) . The room smelled of mold and bug spray and the toilet was leaking at the seal. The first day other guests told us not to leave valuables in the room safe as they had their money stolen from the safe. I went to the Apple rep and she advised me to still use the safe and completely ignored my concerns and only cared about selling excursions . We lost electricity for hours at a time. We were constantly harassed about upgrading. The food was horrible and the one and only choice of beer and wine were both horrible. An electrical fire broke out on the grounds. We did not feel safe and could not wait to leave.

hotel and room was vary clean pools were also top notch. the pools closed at 7:00PM every day should have been opened latter like 10 or 11 PM food was just OK could not get any food between 3 and 6 PM or after 10 PM need around the clock pizza or burger joint. To much trying to con you into time shares and trying to push selling something at the pool all day

Would never stay there again! The electric kept going out. We would eat in the pitch black. The air conditioning would go off an on at night because of the power outage. The staff where you check in an out are horrible. They were very unwilling to help us print out our boarding passes to fly home. One told me he did not speak English when he so obviously did because he was helping people check in. He just didn’t want to be bothered. I was in tears. There were never any wash clothes or handtowels in our room except for the very first nigh. We could not communicate with housekeeping because they did not speak English. Our phone did not work in our room so we could not call. There was no clock, pen or paper in our room. Weird. The food was so very salty. We were told by several people that the hotel is being sold so that is why no one cares. Is that why we got such a good deal? Our experience was not a very good one. Had we known it was going to be like this we never would have spent the money. This hotel should not be a Golden Apple. If we could have come home sooner we would have.

After the office gave us our room key, we walked in and the maids weren't there yet, so they upgraded us to a beautiful king room with living room. Good to know there were safes in the room...for peace of mind. If you tip the servers, they are so appreciative and will be extra nice when they see you the next time. I was a little disappointed that the ocean water had a good bit of seaweed in it.... but sometimes not too much. Overall, the Ocean Blue and Sand was a great place to stay and there was everything you need for a wonderful vacation, even if you don't take any excursions.

There were so many things wrong with this resort. The food was almost inedible except for the pineapple, pizza, French fries and cold cereal. We paid extra to get the privilege services and it was a complete waste of time and money! There was a huge list online and in the room that we were supposed to get and we didn't get hardly any of it. The ocean "view" room was a joke, you could see a sliver of the water from the balcony. We complained to many people about the things wrong with our room and privilege services but no one ever fixed anything or followed up. In order to get extra washcloths I had to leave a $5 tip, this was after asking two different people to get extra wash cloths. The service in the restaurants were poor, multiple guests had to get their own silverware and had to get up and ask for water refills at most every restaurant. The swimming pool was nice but we hated that they closed at 6pm, we were really wanting to do some night/evening swimming. As far as the room issues, the jets in the jacuzzi didn't work more than 5 minutes after taking an hour to fill the tub, the outdoor shower stopped working more than once mid shower, the floors in the upper level and the outdoor shower were filthy. Very unhappy with this resort, we also talked to multiple other guests and they all had tons of the same complaints. There were also vendors on the resort that hassled you at all times of the day and you couldn't even go to the privilege side of the beach or the villa restaurant without being hassled. The resort also lost power two times while we were there, once for 4 hours and once for 3 hours. When this happened we quickly learned that this resort would simply tell you anything as long as they thought it was what you wanted to hear. I would never recommend anyone to go to this resort ever!

Our family of 4, ranging in age from 19 to 73, had not been away together in four years. We decided that an all inclusive Caribbean getaway ticked most of the boxes and Ocean Blue & Sand did not disappoint. We elected to do the Privilege upgrade and do not regret the decision. We were given a lovely ocean view suite with plenty of space for all. Room was very clean and we appreciated the ceiling fan, 2 balconies, and large bathroom. Privilege also allowed us to make dinner reservations (probably one of the best benefits) and reserve chairs and receive bar service on the private beach. Also appreciated the Privilege breakfast option...food was delicious and the servers extremely polite and attentive. Lunch buffet and restaurant dinner options were varied and had something for all. Food definitely exceeded our expectations. A shout out to FELIX (Lobby Bar), and ROBERTO and MARINO (Privilege Beach) for their awesome service and for making our stay extra special. Small negatives were casino, workout room, and smelly sea grass but these were minor compared to all of the positives. If we returned to Punta Cana we would go to Ocean Blue & Sand

Best of the Ocean Hotels

Of the 3 Ocean Hotels we've had visited (Blue and Sands, Coral & Turquesa and Riviera Paradise), the Ocean Blue and Sands in Bavaro Beach is by far the best. Unlike the other two in Cancun, the excellence in guests services start at their front desk (Privilege), spreading all the way to room service, dining, bars, etc. Even with a packed hotel during our stay, the service was never an issue. The only con (not hotel's fault) was the Sargassum (seaweeds) washing ashore on the beach; wasn't able to enjoy the beach. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel and will definitely go back with my family.

We read all the reviews before coming and decided to write this one while we are still here. We booked through Air Transat for our group. We were warmly received by the Reception staff and then personally by Mr. Villaman himself. He impressed us all with his attention to our requests. We met with Hugo from Air Transat who also took great care of us. The negative points - a beach with lots of sea grass (not the hotels fault), sporadic filling of mini bars and the breakfast buffet could use more variety. The positives- excellent food at lunch and supper at the buffet as well as the restaurants we visited. A special thank you to Aldice, Danny and Melfi at the pool bar. They went out of their way to make us happy. All our rooms were well taken care of. Was the AC at 17 degrees....no, but this is the south and we slept fine regardless. The big question is, would we come back? All 16 in our group said yes, so that's good enough for us. Thank you to the staff and management of Ocean Blue and Sand for a great vacation.

Worst experience ever....Don’t go to this hotel

This resort was the worst experience that I ever had. I vacation often and never seen such terrible service, unprofessional, rude, and dirty rooms. We attended this resort as a family of 7 for my nieces high school graduation. First off, my sisters room smelled so bad of mold and we discovered it was the pull out couch and we notified first services and no one came to move the couch so my brother in law moved it to the balcony. Under the couch was full of dust and candy wrappers. My niece has bad asthma. They had to push the beds together in order for the five of them to sleep. My mother’s room and myself experienced a bad smell and we didn’t recover fresh towels each day. The room just didn’t feel clean even though they do called cleaned it. Finally two days later after we were tricked to do a time share presentation which took several hours after they said it was mandatory which was a lie. The lady reached out and they were able to switch their room, but their new room had a broken A.C and we notified the front desk and still never fixed it. Let’s get to the highly rude staff, I was in the main lobby looking for a breakfast place and asked the worker where was a place to eat, he’s like when did you come in and I said Sunday, he’s line well you been here for 2 days so you should know. Then on another day, my brother in law was carrying luggage’s and no one stopped to help him but stopped and picked up other people. Mind you, we were tipping well the staff when we were actually being helped. I was also carrying two heavy luggage’s and no one helped me carry them to the main lobby. If any one does help you or give you directions, they definitely expect a tip, but a tip is a choice if they provide good service. It’s not a relaxing place. There are people who are extremely pushy to purchase items or try to scam you. It’s sad that we pay all this money to relax on the resort and we constantly bothered. They just want to make money off you and not care if you are enjoying your time. It’s a money business. It didn’t make us comfortable at all. It took forever to get a trolly anywhere. The food wasn’t terrible but eating breakfast at the buffet everyday was getting old as they need more than one place for breakfast. The waiters took forever to give us water and my mom wanted pineapple juice and the waiter told me get to get it herself. Most places we had to wait 2 hours they eat which is ridiculous unless you wanted the buffet food. So the sports bar that stays open late, runs out of food expect for cold fries and that was another 2 hour wait for a late snack. The bowling alley was outdated and the pool tables were missing balls. On our last night, we arrived on time for bingo and they ran out of cards, which they didn’t have a lot to begin with. The entertainment guys were average as it was the same dance moves. The beach party was fun and the pool was decent. The hibachi was cool but the way you have to make reservations is ridiculous. Now the beach was very gross, it smelled so bad and too much seaweed. It wasn’t even a nice view with the barriers in the water. So on to my last thing, I was itching very bad the last three days and when I got home, someone who is an emt said, I have bed bug bites. I am freaking out and hope the bed bugs didn’t go into our luggage. I feel super gross and it was such terrible experience. My mother’s lip is swollen and my sisters family is itching. The day before I lefty sister and I filed a complaint and he never spoke to a supervisor as we requested to. I’m sure they won’t do anything with the report.
