Great to be back...

First time back in a few years, a wonderful surprise at the upgrades. Our group of 18 had a wonderful time. Our hats off to Caesar our Apple Rep, Raul, building concierge, Oscar, Freddy, and Delina from breakfast buffet, Carlos at the swim-up bar, Miguel our Hibachi cook. Then, we have Jose and the rest of the Entertainment Team, Jose was always getting our group involved in a lot of the activies, and a great dancer, per my wife. From the Olympics on the beach, the Cocktail Party for our building, The Foam pool time was a blast. The only minor disappointment, need to have one pool designated children only and one for adults. And lastly, where did the drink servers go on the beach and around the pools?

Annoying vendors everywhere!

Eventhough the hotel is nice, they have a variety of restaurants, food is good, the hotel is not too big, pools are ok, we couldn't enjoy it as expected. The timeshare vendors are everywhere, they approach you as many times a day as you cross them, we ended up running away from them cause they didn't take a no from an answer. If you don't go to the timeshare meeting. They keep calling to your room every single day. They are annoying and some are a bit rude. Even the guy who drives the golf cart, the one who transports you anywhere in the complex, is a vendor!!! You find sellers at the beach too, they sell you trips to an islad, motorised activities, massages, etc all day long. Rooms need an upgrade. Many things doesn't work. In our room the jacuzzi, some lights, the mirror light, the curtains, and the tv remote control, were not working. In other room, the hairdryer, the fridge and some lights didn't work. I would recommend finding another hotel if you want to relax during your vacations.

Nice resort

Check in and out was quick. Did not do the privilege, after reviewing did not think it was worth it and feel we made the correct decision for us. We arrived before the check in time and were given towel cards, bracelets, and a resort map. We went to the buffet to eat and then changed into swim wear. On our way to get the towels at the far end of the resort, Jonathon, our concierge, met us and drove us in the buggy to get towels and then back to the pool. Plenty of umbrellas for shade around the pool. Room was ready at 3:00. We were bldg. 5, 3rd floor pool view. Room was clean and big enough for the 4 of us and air conditioner was working well. Had to turn it down several times during the week. Fridge was stocked and refilled every day. We left a note each day requesting what we needed. Remember, the cleaning crew and staff really appreciate any tip you give them daily. They work hard for it. We also received a bottle of champagne from the resort for our anniversary. Thanks Ocean Blue. Met our Apple rep, Caesar, the next morning and he was helpful in arranging our excursion and told us about a cocktail reception on Wed. for Apple guests. We were looking forward to it but received a flyer Tuesday saying it was cancelled. Caesar said the resort cancelled it because 65 Apple guests weren’t enough to have it. A bit disappointed in that decision. Thank you Caesar for putting the banner on our door for our anniversary, for helping us with dinner reservations on our anniversary, and for the champagne. We also received a bottle of champagne from the resort for our anniversary. Thanks Ocean Blue. Food was good. Shout out to Eduardo. We met Eduardo at lunch on our second day. He talked us into going to the Blue Moon that night. We had not planned on going there but glad we did. Food was very good and servers attentive. Found the main buffet ok, loved eating at the buffet by the ocean for lunch. Eat everywhere but the steak and seafood restaurant. Beach had very little seaweed on it. We did go in the water, some seaweed there, just pushed it aside and it was fine. We were on a boat towards the Palladium and their beaches had a lot of seaweed piled up. Entertainment – a few games were played on the beach in the morning and then a few by the pool around 3:00. Really missed hearing music by the pool during the day. We have been at many resorts and music really relaxes you and puts you in the vaca mode. Enjoyed the beach party, it was lively and fun. There was no foam party held during the week, our grandsons had been looking forward to it. There was painting by the pool one day and we enjoyed it. On rainy days the boys and Pap went to the Sports Bar and played pool and ping pong. We did a few excursions, Munchies with Macao with Punta Cana Mike, excellent tour. Meeting the kids at the school was fun and an eye opener, then went to a little shopping center and learned a bit about cocoa, rum, and cigar making. Really great day and would recommend it. Did the buggy ride through Apple. It was a fun and very dirty day. The boys parasailed off the beach and then we did snorkeling from the reps by the beach. It was definitely a bit rough to be out that day. Overall, the resort was good. I realize it was slow season, but 3 of the 6 restaurants closed nightly is a lot. We always travel the same week and have found 1 or 2 restaurants closed but never half. Timeshare people did keep asking but we kept saying no. Vendors at night weren’t that bad. Just say no politely and they leave you alone.

When I came it was raining for majority of the days stayed, although the hotel staff was able to keep every guest accommodated and entertained throughout the trip! There was a wide veriatry of food as well! Great stay over all!

Fun but could have been better

The resort itself is clean and beautiful. However, if you do not purchase their priviledge package, you are over looked for everything. Their customer service is lacking. Everytime we asked a question or tried to request what we were supposed to get as part of the honeymoon package they only responded with trying to schedule us for a time share presentation. We would have done the presentation however being ignored about what we had already purchased made us not interested. The vendors that they allow onto the resort are overbearing. They will stop you each and everytime you walk by without hesitation. Some were respectful but some do not take no for an answer. The food at the restaurants is good. The food at the buffet and room service is not. The drinks are ok, but it would be nice if you could also pay for top shelf. You only get access to them if you buy the priveledge package. I get the need to upgrade but you should be able to just upgrade drinks especially if you're willing to pay each time you want top shelf. Over all we had an amazing time but if they worked on their customer service and the way that they harrass people or ignore them, it would have been exceptional. I would likely travel here again, but would know how to avoid the harrassment.
