Apple needs to Re-Evaluate this Hotel
RODNEY L.
Feb 08 2018
This hotel is rated to high with apple. Apple needs to put in the descriptions about the Lite version of being minimal at best. You are bottom of the barrel if you are lite. We ended up with 2 twin beds pushed together and not a king. They stated since we were lite that we don't get a king. The ceiling had a water leak and we woke up to a wet floor our first night. The elevator button on the 1st floor was broke going up so you couldn't go up. One of the 2 elevators was out of service the first 2 days we were there. There are really no bars there to just walk up and get a drink and sit around. Most of the bars were the swim up bars. The food was good although being LITE we only had access to a few restaurants. The bar staff and food staff was great though. There really isn't much for entertainment and what little there is they want to charge for it. All other resorts we have visited seem to have nightly and daily entertainment included.

The place had multiple leaks, the staff was friendly, but the check in staff was very rude and lied to us about why they needed a copy of our passport. Instead of taking care of the leaks the staff would just put towels down and place wet floor signs.

Stay away from this hotel poor service, we were put in a building that was closed and under construction not what we asked for at all the water does not drain properly, the rooms are filthy,no hair dryer or iron they charge for wifi and the safe box from ur room and if something gets stolen because it's not in the safe box they are not responsible🤔Really 😡Not cool this hotel is the worst I have ever been to starting with the poor service at check in over 2 hrs to top that the rooms aren't even ready when they say and to get your key after check in it's another 60 min. You are on ur own for any problems because there in no manager u can talk to to solve ur problem I had the worst stay of my life NEVER W

No dressers in your rooms made living out my suitcase for 7 nights became extremely anoying. On the 2nd day the house keeping woman left the floor wet where I slipped and fell, and fingers on each hand are still swolen today. The food was terrible. 4 out of the 7 nights I left the resort for dinner. Including on my 50th birthday. I stated at check in that I was here for my 50th birthday, hoping for a time I'll never forget. Since I'll ony have one 50th birthday. I didn't remember I mentioned that until the day before I left I heard someone being sung happy birthday to at their hotel room doo on the morning of the 8th. How nice I thought, wish that could've been done for me 2 days ago on my birthday. The only thing I truly liked was the beach.

Two classes of service.

The problem with the Oasis Cancun Lite is that it seems to be the stepchild of the main hotel. Unfortunately the staff at one hotel didn't seem to know what the left hand was doing. For instance. When I asked where I could print my boarding passes at the Lite desk, they sent me to the main pyramid desk. When I got there the person at the desk basically said well you should have went to the concierge at Lite. Then he proceeded very sarcastically to say well you have 2 options--you can stay here and wait for others to get off the computers or you can go back to the concierge at Lite. When I asked hey why did they send me 1/4 mile here in the first place. He just looked at me and said well sir you have two options quite sarcastically. By the way gthe concierge at the Lite was not in the lobby area but somewhere down a long hallway at the end of a string of guest rooms-- really in the middle of nowhere and hard to find. I guess that was my firt clue that guest services were not a priority. To be fair the concierge was very helpful though--when you did find him. The maids and other staff seemed very nice and helpful. Upon checkout I was told to check out at the main desk at the pyramid because the Lite desk wouldn't be open at 5A.M.--again second class citizens I guess. When I checked out I was told that also airport pickup was also at the pyramid and not Lite lobbies. I protested that I'd already walked a quarter mile to the main lobby and had to walk 1/4 mile back again and I wasn't going to lug 3 suitcase another quarter mile back. I have a bad back and that just wasn't going to happen. Again if you stayed at the Cancun Lite area it seems you got second class service. I prevailed on the desk to tell the airport transport to pick me up at the Lite lobby. Many aspects of the hotel were very good but it was quite apparent that Oasis Cancun Lite was second fiddle yo the main hotel. It seemed like they were running two different classes of service and two different hotels. And one hotel didn't seem to know what the other was doing. In short I felt like I was a second class guest and would not stay at the hotel again.

The resort grounds are gorgeous and well maintained! But, we were placed in a wing where there were renovations going on, despite having made our reservation 3 months in advance. Despite many pleas the staff refused to move us to another building. We woke up and went to sleep with the sound of hammers and drills. This building also seemed to be where all of the large groups were housed - and most were 18-20 year olds. They partied outside our door until 4:00 a.m, screamed and ran up and down the halls. I was with my family for a Thanksgiving holiday and would've prefered being in a "family friendly" environment.

There was no water pressure in the shower. The room smelled like paint fumes from the repairs going on in the next room. The food wasn't very good. Staff was friendly, and the pool was great.

We always use Inspired Luxury Escapes when booking our holidays and felt with Helen Malpass again. She had stayed at this hotel and recommended it to us. The hotel was lovely. A great location with amazing views of the ocean. The dinning options were incredible. We had dinner in Benazuza one night and it was worth it. We tried things we had never seen before. All were so yummy. We also did the black hole dinning in the dark experience, again it was another amazing dinner. Everywhere you look there is another dinning option. We also ate at moonlight Italian. I had the most amazing risotto. I love the idea of the cafe on site where I could use my all inclusive. We chose to pay extra to go up to the Sian Ka'an grade and it was worth every penny. I can understand how with so much food choices included we put on an extra few pounds... I loved that the hotel was adults only and had special beds down on the beach for the Sian Ka'an guests. It was like our own exclusive club. The kinky night club was great for a good way to let of some steam and dance off dinner. We took advantage of being able to go to the sister hotel and use the casino. My room was big and spacious on the top floor. I did miss not having a balcony, but to be honest I hardly spent any time on my room. I would definitely recommend this resort and book it with Helen Malpass at Inspired Luxury Escapes she got us a great deal. We even upgraded our return seats on BA to business class I was definitely worth paying the extra for a good night's sleep.

First impression with Grand Oasis was big and pretty. You enter in the area called the pyramid that’s nice and inviting with friendly staff...once checked in; however, you’re ushered to much worse accommodations unless you sprung to actually stay in the pyramid. Our room was next to awful. Painted over holes and stains on the wall, wet floors in the bathroom, brown water for the first minute or so as well as foul smelling the entire time, we had a giant spotlight in the parking lot pointed directly into our balcony window. We had damp sheets on both beds and a soaked bed in our 2 bed room. I have never had a worse room than I did at this resort but that’s just the beginning of the issues. When we checked in we were given bracelets. I wasn’t aware that all inclusive really wasn’t all inclusive at this hotel. Apparently we were a lower tier inclusive (blue bracelet) but we had no idea we could or even needed to upgrade to enjoy all that could be enjoyed at this hotel. WiFi is also not included with your all inclusive stay and neither is bottled water, half of the places pour it from the tap and all the “reusable” cups around the resort are merely rinsed off and handed back out, not cleaned. If you’re not a top tier guest you really need to keep a map on you with what restaurants you’re allowed to dine in and their hours. It’s not intuitive and there are a lot of places you can’t go or restaurants around the pool that have stricter dress codes so beware. If all that wasn’t bad enough, we were there attending a tattoo convention hosted by Grand Oasis and after getting a tattoo I managed to get a little bit of the easily washable water based ink on the sheet on my bed. I was asked to leave my room and was ushered all over the resort trying to figure out what they were going to do about it. After following directions to 5 different offices and people I was told that’s not their normal procedure and I’ll just be billed. Myself and a coordinator for the event tried to talk with staff and reach management to have them try to wash the sheet before charging me but upon check out I was charged an additional $150 USD for cheap white sheets which pretty much means I need to pay or I miss my shuttle to my flight out of country. I would absolutely not recommend this place for anyone unless maybe you get to stay there for free but even then it might not be worth the frustration. It has been my worst experience in Mexico by far and possibly the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever dealt with in the hospitality industry. Do yourself a favor and book one of the smaller nicer resorts in Riviera Maya.

Our favorite place!

We are frequent visitors of your resort. Actually, for the past 11 years! Just love your staff, and especially, Pedro,Allen, Roberto, Nathaniel, and Irvin in the VIP bar. Of course, ziri, our entertainment favorite girl of all times is the best! Your staff in the breakfast buffet at the white box is amazing! Wish I new their names. Actually, everyone is amazing! We will be back again very soon. It's our home away from home.

Location: about 25 min drive from the airport in Cancun. Approx 20 min taxi ride from hotel to downtown Cancun Check-in: No issues with check in. We purchased 2 rooms between 5 of us and requested side by side or near one another and I think we got 2 separate floors although both within same building which worked good enough as we knew ahead of time that requests werent guaranteed Rooms: Nice rooms. A little outdated and rough around the edges but overall good for the amount of time you even spend in there. We stayed beach front and the balconies with the view were beautiful Beach: was really nice. White, soft sand. Aqua blue water and clean for the most part. The waves can get pretty intense somedays but they post the usual red, yellow, and green flags to advise guests ahead of time Pools: there were numerous pools and very large! So you were never crowded and could find chairs most of the time. Some pools were quieter than others. Swim up bars at each of them which were good for the most part although they would run out of things frequently and not restock very fast, would only have one blender running/working at once (when the majority of your drinks are slush) which made for long lines and slow service, and they would only allow you to take 2 drinks per person at once so you couldn't really take back for your group, etc. Entertainment: was really good. They had interactive activities at all the pools as well as a stage at the main pool that they had DJs, classes, game, etc at everyday. They have a huge main stage just off the beach with different tiers of sunbeds that they had once again, DJs, drinking games for older adults, contests etc. at each day. We came at the tail end of spring break so it was a blast! They also had daily games and activities on the beach. Shows in the main lobby in the evenings were also really good Bars: there were basically bars everywhere- lobby, pools, restaurants, beach. They had a bar/nightclub called Coyote Loco that was so much fun!!! Closest thing to a nightclub with a DJ. They have dancers and a large stage in the middle with stripper poles that anyone could use. There was a sports bar right beside Coyote Loco as well that serves chicken wings, nachos, milkshakes etc Food: was not the greatest. They did have a variety at their buffets for breakfast, lunch, supper from what I remember but still not the best. Many a la cartes to choose from that had to be booked ahead of time. Picky eaters would not enjoy the food here Overall would maybe return if we came to party with a group again! No shortage of fun in that sense. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation with your kids this is probably not your best choice
