The only reason I rated the beach as fair was because at the time we were at resort they having extreme problems with sea weed. This was the same all along the beaches of the Riviera Maya region.

Nice resort terrible beach
IRVIN T.
Aug 14 2018
Staff was great. Resort was nice. My family and I were just very disappointed in the condition of the beach. We frequently cruise and tried this for the first time. We love the various beaches with crystal clear water and thought it would be great to stay on a resort with that. We paid for the ocean view room and it was horrible. Not the room but the view. The beach and water was terrible. Very disappointing since this was our primary reason for coming and we couldnt even swim in the water. Had we known this is what it would be like we wouldnt had booked this vacation. Not the resorts fault. I do however think that Apple should have brought this to our attention prior to our trip and offered an alternative option. The beach was for sure a turn off and concerns me from trying an all inclusive at a resort again being stuck at the same beach we cant swim in with my children.

NOW JADE VS. NOW SAPPHIRE
MELISSA A.
Jul 31 2018
We LOVED NOW JADE and were fairly disappointed at Sapphire after our AMAZING stay at NOW JADE. The rooms/bathrooms are much nicer at Jade. There are more restaurants open every night at Jade and they are easier to get into, the "wait times" at Sapphire are ridiculous. The buffet at Jade is at least 3x bigger and had MANY more choices at Jade than Sapphire. The Buffet and restaurants are air conditioned at Jade and are not at Sapphire. The Lobby at Jade is BEAUTIFUL & air conditioned and is not at Sapphire. The Night Club at Jade was hopping every night, it was dead at Sapphire all but one night. There were not as many activities during the day at the pool and the ones they did have, had very little participation, other than the 3:00pm Pool party. The Entertainment and Entertainment Teams at both Jade and Sapphire were DYNAMITE, although the theater at the Jade is bigger and Jade leaves the AC running throughout the show, at Sapphire they cool the theater down, then turn off the AC. Right now the beaches everywhere are covered in seaweed, which is in Mother Nature's hands, so there is nothing, anyone can do about that. If there was no seaweed, I think NOW Sapphire had the bigger, better beach, although I couldn't go into water because of seaweed at Sapphire, so I don't know if it was rocky or not, Jade had no rocks when we were there in 2017. Sapphire was not bad, but Jade was better and we would go back to NOW Jade before NOW Sapphire.

The service and food were great. Beach has a lot of seaweed. Workers attempted to pick it up, but there was just so much. Otherwise the sand was great, just having to step over the seaweed to get to the water. It was overcast and rainy most of our 6 day stay, but the hotel entertainment staff did a good job of trying to keep guests busy with games and scheduled events like bracelet making and cigar rolling.

The waitstaff in the Market Cafe was wonderful, particularly Candelario, Adriana, and Kenia. They were so good to my father who was in a wheelchair. They helped him get his food and kept him company while the kids and I were on excursions. We appreciate them very much! The kids loved the Explorers Club and want to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for nancy, Mae, and Cindy. The girls were busy and entertained the entire time. The room was lovely and spacious and well maintained! The food was fine and we were really happy to have the Coco Cafe to have coffee! The entertainment team was great and our favorite shows were the acrobats and The Rock Show! Only disappointment was the amount of seaweed covering the beach. We could not really go to the beach or play in the surf, which was our reason for going to Mexico in the first place. However, our excursion to Isla Mujeres gave us some nice beach time. We were also put off by the VIP club salespeople. We actually avoided parts of the hotel to stay away from them!

Wonderful Vacation

I was skeptical about traveling to Mexico, but my worries were quickly forgotten once we arrived at NOW Sapphire. The transport from the airport to the hotel was quick and efficient. The hotel staff, entertainment crew, and restaurant staff were all amazing. All the workers went out of their way to ensure that we had an enjoyable and relaxing stay. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The pool is fun and relaxing. The shows in the evening were very impressive. I would do this trip again and again. The only down side, which was totally out of the hotel's control, was the large amount of seaweed on the beach. They have a crew that scoops it up all day, every day, but it is still everywhere. For that reason, we did not get into the ocean. I did't miss it though, with all the other fun stuff there to do.

Our Magical Wedding
Amanda S,
Wed Nov 14 05:19:37 EST 2018
We just got married here 11/10/18 and it was a dream! Ramon was our wedding coordinator and I only had to share a few pictures of what we wanted as a theme and he ran with it to be a beautiful event on the tequila terrace. Not only was the wedding magical but the whole resort! Everyone is so helpful and friendly! Edwin our housekeeper, was amazing. In the buffet (market cafè) we had Jesus, Navidad and Eduardo they were always so accommodating! Also their iced coffee TO DIE FOR! We requested them every morning for breakfast and lunch! I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect week for our wedding.

Second Time Around. A great Week!

I just returned home yesterday from another fantastic week at the Now Sapphire and just as I encountered last year when there, the staff were absolutely second to none. They truly do make this resort special to return to. As all of the reviews are good for the resort, and I agree with most everything said, I can't really contribute anything new but would like to touch on a few things that I noticed the second time coming here, vs the first time. Some slips in the overall experience. And I must point out, These things by NO means ruined the trip for me but I just want to point them out so that Management can maybe get on top of them. - First, When arriving I wasn't offered the cold towel and the "welcome home" when getting off the bus. A small thing but again, it sets the mood for your clients. -No robe or slippers in my room -With the exception of my first day, the Main lobby washroom had no hand towels to dry with (again, a small thing but it was something that made you special) -Maintenance in the washrooms was lacking over last year (toilets with stuff in them, etc) -3 of the 5 a la cartes were closed on the Friday evening. Thats really unacceptable when the resort is overflowing with guests. The reason we were told was "we have a lot of weddings" Not the best thing to tell people who are NOT there for a wedding as it leaves them feeling that THEIR business doesn't matter. And we paid a premium to be there also -Pool service was slower this year but again, there were a lot of people there. -the lobby bar fountain cola (diet) was undrinkable at times this year (syrupy with no carbonation) Again, I had a fantastic time. If this had been my first visit, I likely wouldn't have noticed most of these things. When you create such an amazing experience that people want to come back multiple times, it becomes more important to stay on top of your game and keep creating that special experience each and every time, which I know the Sapphire strives to do. We had some truly magical moments during our time there and all were created by the truly unbelieveable staff that work here. In particular, I want to sincerely thank Paula (guest services), Philimano (restaurant manager) and Julian (waiter) for creating an unforgettable evening for us. You truly went above and beyond and it quite literally MADE our trip. Thank you!! The other stand-outs for me were Martin in Concierge who was always smiling and happy to assist with any questions we had around the pool. A true gem and they are lucky to have him. Diego who provided exceptional poolside waiter service was pleasant, efficient and always happy to assist. My maid (I've forgotten her name but was in room 824 Nov 5-12) did an amazing job each day. Luis in the buffet was always a smiling face greeting us for our meals and was a joy to talk with each day. The Entertainment staff: Luigi (hilarious!), Paula, Isaac and Josi were stand-outs and work tirelessy to keep the crowd entertained and they took the time to connect with guests around the pool and in the lobby at night. Jesus in the lobby bar was a great familiar face to see from last year where he was our daily poolside waiter. I would recommend to guests to take the bike ride into town in the morning. It's a lovely ride (well-shaded and breezy) and takes about 20-25 mins to get to downtown Puerto Morelos where you are then given about 45 mins to stroll around and then ride back. We were back by 10:30am. A great way to start the day. Overall, I still LOVE this resort and their staff. I gave it 4 stars out of 5 because of the little slips in particular areas but I would still highly recommend to others and will be back again myself.

Looks like Paradise but feels like home 💜

My husband and I have visited this hotel 2 years in a row - once in a preferred ocean view room and once in a non-preferred tropical view room - we loved both! The staff, food and entertainment are all excellent and we love the traditional Mayan style of the hotel. We would like to mention some of the staff personally as they made it the best holiday ever for us this year - Isaac and Luigi in the entertainment team, Angelica and her lovely omelettes, Cristal serving drinks, Alberto at breakfast, Cesar and Antonio at the beach bar and Riger in the preferred lounge - you are all fantastic! We really enjoyed the entertainment at night, especially the Rock show and the daytime activities such as the bike tour to Puerto Morelos and the kayak tour with Isaac. The rooms are very spacious and kept spotless. Although there was seaweed on the beach, we still had a great time sunbathing and drinking mango daiquiris and the pools are great. We just wish we lived closer so we could visit more often!

We traveled here as a family in April 2018 with our children who are 12 and 14 years of age. We traveled with approximately 20 other families for a spring break trip. We paid for the trip ahead of time. When we arrived five couples were told there was no room for them and they were displaced to a nearby resort for three days. Because of this they compensated us with three free nights. We cashed in on this as a couples only trip in November. Both times we were preferred club status. If you intend to visit this resort in an adult only fashion, it may be worth a preferred club status just to be able to be at the preferred club pool. This takes you away from children because it is an adult only pool. There is also top shelf liquor in the adult only preferred club pool compared to the general bar places on the resort. Not sure if it is worth that price if you have children. We did have it when we traveled in April and at that point in time or room was stocked with small bottles of liquor, M&M‘s, and potato chips nightly. I will say on our recent visit this month, none of those things were stocked and we again had preferred club status. At our previous visit, there was breakfast in a separate area with a separate menu for preferred club members. On this recent visit, they no longer had that and we ate at the general buffet. I was displeased with this as the preferred club status gave you a bit of a different menu for breakfast options in the past. All of the wait staff that we had at the buffet, the adult pool, the beach bar, and the lobby bar were outstanding. They were very friendly and attentive to our needs. The meal at the Bluewater Grill was wonderful but the wait staff was terrible. Jose G at the preferred club pool was hands down the best wait staff we have encountered on any of our trips. He went out of his way to check on us. Room quality: the room was clean and the staff did a great job of keeping it that way daily with fresh towels etc. The bed was actually quite comfortable as were the pillows. On our second visit we had a king sized bed in the preferred club room and it was great. Pools: again there is a very large general pool that was kept clean regularly and did have a swim up bar. The second trip we spent all of our time at the adult only preferred club pool. This was also kept very clean with rafts available. There was also a kids club with a pool dedicated to that. Our kids did not attend as they were too old. Restaurants: -there is a buffet available for breakfast lunch and dinner. It is OK. It is too small for the amount of people it needs to accommodate. Overall it’s average. The staff is excellent! -there is a French restaurant available. It does require men to wear pants and a collared shirt. The food was very good at this restaurant. The service was OK but not near as good at the service at the buffet. - There is a restaurant called the Bluewater Grill which is open daily for lunch as well as occasional days for dinner. We did have a party of eight that went for dinner. We were told there were no reservations until we were willing to buy a bottle of wine which then immediately got us a table for eight. The Tomahawk steak is a steak that has a reputation for being amazing. That it was. In order to be able to partake in a tomahawk steak you had to purchase a bottle of wine. The meal is big enough for two people. It was a great experience and a good steak but I have to say the steak fillets I had at the other restaurants along the resort were just as good. The size of the steak is what the reputation is for. The wait staff at this restaurant were horrible. They were disinterested in attending to our table. We bought two bottles of wine and they still didn’t care to give our table attention. I actually had to ask twice to have my water glass refilled the two hours we were there. Anna who sat us was very kind. - Cibu is a Mediterranean restaurant. I had a fillet there that was outstanding. The lasagna is also very good. The wait staff there was also great. The atmosphere was wonderful as well. -CoCo cafe he’s open daily with coffee and pastries. The woman behind that counter work very hard and I believe get tipped very little. They are excellent so please remember to tip them as well. Overall it was a good state. Her kids enjoyed it when they went in April. We went back for a second time with adults only simply because we had three free nights of stay. If we had to choose to do it again as adults, we would probably pick a resort that is specifically designed for adults only. There is a small gym available that overlooks the ocean. It has equipment to fit your needs for working out during vacation. Unfortunately the beach during our visit in April as well as are most recent visit this month had a ridiculous amount of seaweed washed up daily onto the beach. The workers worked tirelessly trying to keep up with what was being washed up on shore. That is not the fault of the resort ...that just unfortunately is mother nature.

Best first experience out of the US ever!

I arrived Monday, they offered a delicious welcome drink so that was nice, and then I went over to the pool to have a couple drinks at the bar. Jesus and Refugio are the real deal! They will remember you, leave them good tips. Each night I tried one of the restaurants, and they were all delicious and the servers are very punctual. I’ll especially remember the crew at the Market Cafe, like Eduardo and Natividad, who called me “the chief” because my friends did, that was funny! The nightclub is packed with people every night, that was the first time I met Luigi who taught us all how to salsa dance, he’s funny, and always trying to get everyone amped up, as well as Rosey and Isaac (who also taught us how to make guacamole). The guy who serves drinks at the nightclub, Carlos is also someone worth mentioning, he will remember your favorite drinks even if he’s very busy. Kudos! Karaoke night was also fun. Also any time you want a coffee, the Coco Cafe is always serving and has delicious snacks all the time. Thank you all so much! - Don (“the son”)
