The service and food were great. Beach has a lot of seaweed. Workers attempted to pick it up, but there was just so much. Otherwise the sand was great, just having to step over the seaweed to get to the water. It was overcast and rainy most of our 6 day stay, but the hotel entertainment staff did a good job of trying to keep guests busy with games and scheduled events like bracelet making and cigar rolling.

The waitstaff in the Market Cafe was wonderful, particularly Candelario, Adriana, and Kenia. They were so good to my father who was in a wheelchair. They helped him get his food and kept him company while the kids and I were on excursions. We appreciate them very much! The kids loved the Explorers Club and want to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for nancy, Mae, and Cindy. The girls were busy and entertained the entire time. The room was lovely and spacious and well maintained! The food was fine and we were really happy to have the Coco Cafe to have coffee! The entertainment team was great and our favorite shows were the acrobats and The Rock Show! Only disappointment was the amount of seaweed covering the beach. We could not really go to the beach or play in the surf, which was our reason for going to Mexico in the first place. However, our excursion to Isla Mujeres gave us some nice beach time. We were also put off by the VIP club salespeople. We actually avoided parts of the hotel to stay away from them!

I was skeptical about traveling to Mexico, but my worries were quickly forgotten once we arrived at NOW Sapphire. The transport from the airport to the hotel was quick and efficient. The hotel staff, entertainment crew, and restaurant staff were all amazing. All the workers went out of their way to ensure that we had an enjoyable and relaxing stay. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The pool is fun and relaxing. The shows in the evening were very impressive. I would do this trip again and again. The only down side, which was totally out of the hotel's control, was the large amount of seaweed on the beach. They have a crew that scoops it up all day, every day, but it is still everywhere. For that reason, we did not get into the ocean. I did't miss it though, with all the other fun stuff there to do.

Our recent stay at Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun (31 March to 04 April 2018) was outstanding. But, there was a few things that I would like to bring to your attention. Frontier Airlines was late taking off from O’Hare Airport, about 30 to 40 minutes. Five times, with different flight attendants, they had to do a head count of passengers. Then when we landed, we immediately arrived at our transport vehicle, but the Apple Representatives were not there, so we had to wait on the bus for about 30 minutes. Lastly, you had informed Apple Vacations that I would be celebrating Robin’s birthday and that Apple Vacation would do something special for her. When we arrived, I reminded the front desk and they stated they would take care of it. The hotel never did anything for her birthday. The seafood and steak restaurant appears to cook the steak ahead of time, then rehead the steak, very tough. Otherwise, we had a great time and thank you for recommending the resort.

Amazing Family Vacation

We are a family of three from Ohio trying to get away from cold wet weather. We not only escaped the weather but we arrived at this amazing resort full of friendly helpful happy people. The food was very good and the amenities are great but what really sets this place apart are the amazing people that work there. It was the best vacation we have ever had as a family and we can't wait to return. The only even slightly negative thing I would say is that if you are a big beach person it may be a little disappointing. Lots of seaweed and very exposed however they work very hard to make it pleasant. Everything else was so great that we didn't even mind. We did the Preferred Club and would highly recommend it. Can't wait to return!

Wedding trip

Visited Now Sapphire June 18-25 for my niece’s wedding. The wedding was a beautifully coordinated event by Sapphire planner, Ramon. What a time to remember! It’s a beautiful resort, the second AM resort at which we’ve stayed. However, our room was nice, in the Preferred area, oceanfront. But the room was very warm despite two trips from maintenance to repair it. At one point water flowed from the vent. The food was just okay and the drinks seemed watered down. That was was the least of our problems. About 50 of us came to Now and about a third of our party have been sick since we returned—more than three weeks later. Most of us have had to endure antibiotics and have had to visit medical facilities more than once. We’ve had more that just the typical “Montezuma’s Revenge.” Whether it was the food or drinks, the trip to Now didn’t “agree” with us. I am just glad that we weren’t sick for the wedding. It’s been a rough three weeks getting back to ourselves. Can’t say that I would ever return there.

This hotel has very mixed feelings. Lots wrong, noisy rooms. Children's play area not accessible unless you leave your child with hotel day care, not what we wanted to do or our children . Market's in hotel all the time. We got time shared as we arrived after flying 11 hours. Also offered upgread at a lovely cost of ÂŁ2000 for time of stay. The restaurants strict dress code .we only managed to eat in 3 sites as husbands clothing was not a suit. Also the Gym had no air con. No cloth washing facilities except for room service. Good points-Great staff, fabulous really they trully are your saving grace. Beyond helpful from restaurant workers, to waiters to everybody who passed in the hallway nothing was too much to ask for. As we have been to Mexico before we had certain expectations. But feel that now sapphire did not live up to its name. As it's our last time in the country it left us sad to say you really need to look at improvements is children play areas. Swimming pool especially as all pools are all 5 ft deep. More rooms available for family's with 2 bedrooms . And a hotel that feels that you are not trying to sell them something every day. If we were going back to Mexico we would not come back.

Avoid this place like the plague!!

The main thing you need to know is that the hotel pictures of the beach are an agregious lie. Please see ours for the truth! The sea is completely red-flagged because of the thick belt of seaweed separating it from the sand. The water is not clear blue, it is murky grey, and the stench of rotten eggs that it creates pervades the resort. Clearly the hotel don’t want anyone to know about this as it will kill their business, so they try to ignore it, explain that it only just happened (We have subsequently discovered this has been a problem for years) or say they have a team working hard to clear it - to date we have seen two men with a spade and a wheelbarrow!! If you are intending, like us, to fly half way around the world for a beautiful Caribbean beach, IT IS NOT HERE! We booked two Preferred suites, one with Ocean view, although we were originally located looking out over the kayak shack! We did get to move rooms after a few days to the room we had actually paid for and the suite is reasonably spacious with a well stocked mini bar. The jacuzzi is actually a bath that might fit one person in it, not a whirlpool for 2, so don’t bother paying for that!! The restaurants are okay, but unless you want to eat at 6pm be prepared for a long wait to get a table. They do not take reservations, so you have to queue - sometimes for as long as two hours!! In fact we have had to queue just to get a buzzer with which to queue with - not the preferred, luxury experience we were sold. There are 3 pools; but as nobody is on the beach because the sea is inaccessible and the smell makes you want to vomit, everyone is at the pool, which means getting a sun bed is a difficult challenge. Towels are removed if you are away from your sun bed for 30 mins at the main pool which is causing all sorts of arguments and stress, and you even have to book a sun bed at the preferred pool as they are all taken. There is very little attention to detail eg no robes or slippers in the room as advertised, the TV keeps losing its signal, we had no hot water, just hassle, hassle, hassle that you have to keep calling up about, feeling like a nuisance and not being able to relax into holiday mode. Last night we were playing pool with our teenagers at just after 10pm when we were told that we had to give back the balls as the area was closing. It honestly feels like a prison here, as you have to follow their schedule. The thing they are best at here is keeping folk topped up with alcohol, so if that is your thing you will be happy here. I can only assume it is to keep guests sedated so that they don’t see the reality of this place.

Thank you to all the staff at Now Shappire for making our honeymoon extra special. We loved every minute. The food, staff and cleanliness were all 5 star. I would recommend the preferred club as we really enjoyed the private pool area especially the Reef Bar; thanks to Hose and Alberto who were fantastic at reserving our beds and serving drinks. Also really enjoyed the breakfast buffet another big thanks to Alberto who was also fantastic at serving us. The sand bar on the beach and paramour restaurant were other favourites and we can not wait to go back!

Honeymoon & first time in Meixco!

We stayed for 2 weeks on our honeymoon, this was also our first time in Mexico! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Now Sapphire and our time in Mexico. We were part of the Preferred Club which was great, we spent a lot of time in the Preferred Pool which was much quieter than the main pool. Alberto, Jose & Miseal looked after us very well. Alberto (Pool Concierge) always made sure we received a bed, even on days we had not booked he always managed to get a bed for us. Once seated Jose & Miseal from the Reef Bar made sure we were constantly supplied with drinks. All three helped make our stay at Now Sapphire that much better. We also made use of the preferred breakfast at Cibu and the Preferred lounge, both are well serviced and provides a good relief from the heat with the cool air conditioning. We had evening meals at Cibu, Bluewater Grill & Lemongrass - all were very good. The Mexican restaurant Fresco was a bit of a let down. The buffet at the Market Cafe was good and the Barefoot Grill provides a top quality cheeseburger (along with other snacks) for lunchtime munchies. The beach bar is also a very nice place to sit and have a drink. We used the Spa and had the evening meal on the beach, both were very good and worth doing. The gym is also handy if you are feeling a bit guilty about all the food and booze! The hotel grounds and scenery are very nice and very picturesque. A lot of the daytime entertainment was at the main pool so we were not part of many of it, however you could tell from the noise alone that they work really hard in keeping everyone entertained. We found the evening entertainment was more suited for families as oppose to adults, so come night time after our meal we did find ourselves getting slightly bored - which led to a few early nights! We went into Playa del Carmen and Cancun a couple of times in the evening to go round some of the bars, of which there were plenty to choose from. We were advised a cost for a taxi one way would be $45.00 USD, however we managed to negotaite a return journey for $60.00 USD with a taxi driver. We stayed in Room No. 1406 (Pref Club Tropical View Jnr Suite) which is on the ground floor. There was no seperation from our balcony and the plants, the view and the setting wasn't great so we did not use our balcony during our stay. The room was quite dated and does not reflect the pictures that they advertise online. Our bed sheets were old and had marks/stains, we had them changed a couple of times but always received the same quality. The hotel works hard to try and stay on top of the seaweed along the beach, this seems to be a problem at many resorts as we noticed other resort beaches with the same issue. The smell from the seaweed is quite strong and could be smelt in some of the restaurants which are close to the beach. Overall the service received from all staff was very good.
