Now Amber was recommended by friend of mine who stayed there last year, and I trusted him without paying attention to some negative reviews. ( I got concern after reading them, but people do not tend to write positive things usually) Now I am pretty sure that negative reviews are written by competitors or not happy people. So, Now Amber is a big hotel with all ocean view rooms right on the beach. You will witness beautiful sunsets every night and envoy the moon with long moon walk on the ocean. I read that at checking in they push you to upgrade your stay to preferred club-it is all up to you. Nobody even mention to me about it. No pushing at all! And nothing about time-sharing! checking in process was very fast, thank you, Ana-Rosa and Brian( the receptionists)! I read that food is not so good. Do not believe! You have so many choices here, numbers of different restaurants -and presentation, and taste are really good! Breakfast you will have at Carnaval restaurant, which is buffet and you will enjoy your breakfast because for sure you will find everything want you like for your breakfast. There is a dress code in restaurants. No tanks and shorts( at evening time)for men. Just bring a pair of linen pants! They have 24 hours room service. I saw a lot of people were ordering breakfast to the room. Someone wrote that drinks are watery. it is not true. You can tip or not tip a barman, he will do his best and always will pass you your drink with words " my pleasure". Sand is nice and clean and you really do not need any water shoes to walk on the beach, as someone recommended before. You get intertaned by phenomenal team all day long. They are super personable and made every one feel so happy and welcomed. How they remember the guest's names? Special thanks to Lucas! Yoga, kayaking, paddle boarding, walking, aqua aerobics, water volleyball, active games, dance classes-you will never be bored They wrote that vendors on the beach are aggressive? That is not true! Yes,there are some vendors, but they are very nice people. They do not bother. never nobody woke me up on the beach! And on top of that there is a security man from hotel constantly on duty to protect your calm rest on the beach. Someone was complained about air conditioning system? Did they even close the balcony door properly? There is a sensor that stops air conditioning if balcony is open. We didn't have problems with ac! Swimming pools are clean. They clean them every day, few times a day. I ate at all restaurants, drank water in restaurants not from the bottles ( you can ask for bottle water, no problem) and never got sick after food or water. And believe me, I have very censative stomach! Service is excellent ! People, who work here are extremely nice and always at your service. I needed extra key and nobody charged me for that,as someone was writing on review that they do. Now Amber very close to Secrets-no-kids - allowed hotel. We could go any time on their territory and use it-swim, chill out next to the pool, having drinks in any bar, use their restaurants, watch their show. Literally, you are getting two hotels in one. Only few problems faced every day staying in Now Amber: Where to swim-in the pool, or on the warm ocean or in which pool? Which restaurant to chose today? What kind of drink to get? So many choices and options! You brain has to work all the time! Thank you, Now Amber team! I will be back! I really enjoyed my vocation with you! More>

After reading great reviews for Now Amber, I decided to book a girls trip with my three daughter June 16-22 on a booking website. When we arrived, we were treated with cool towels and chilled champagne. A great start to our stay! Like a previous guest review, we also booked on a website that had children listed as 17 and under. Our youngest daughter is 16 and we were told that the reservation for 3 adults, 1 child would not be accepted as the hotel classifies children as 12 and under. We had to pay for another room! They were able to find 2 connecting rooms and I must say I enjoyed having the extra space, but it nearly doubled the price of our trip for having a 16 year old instead of a 12 year old. Despite a rough start, we found the rooms spacious, well air conditioned, and with lovely ocean views. As with other people, one of the showers left big puddles of water, not a huge problem as the very kind maids always left us fresh towels. The restaurants were very good and the service wonderful if not a bit slow. One lunch at the seafood restaurant near the pool was painfully slow! We opted to try the poolside grills and were not disappointed. The staff at the breakfast buffet were attentive, pouring coffee as we were pulling up a chair. They will bring you just about anything you ask for and with a smile. Our last morning, I was asked by a young man how we were enjoying our stay and I mentioned it was our last day. While we were enjoying breakfast with friends we met who were also leaving, the same young man brought us a plate with cake and "Have a good trip" written in chocolate! The entertainment staff were wonderful! They were energetic and friendly (Lukas, Edson, Canelo!) and made our days by the pool and on the beach great fun. Volleyball kept many of us busy for hours. Kayaking and paddle boarding was readily available. Beware the jellyfish! The pool with the swim up bar was closed the last 2 days of our stay and it would have been nice to be allowed to go next door to Secrets. You need to purchase a pass. All in all, the girls had a wonderful time and that makes me happy! More>

Exceptional holiday

My wife, myself two, 22 year old daughters and their boyfriends stayed at Now Amber from the 10th to the 25th June 2016. After a 10.5 hour flight we were greeted by cold/wet towels and a glass of bubbly - wonderful. Check-in went without a hitch and our Thomson rep (Agrita) had arranged accommodation on the same floor for us. Our rooms were clean, bright and airy with a fully stocked mini bar. The air conditioning worked very well and kept the room cool at all times. Cases were delivered to each room and a comprehensive guidance given on the use of various services in the rooms. The food in all the restaurants was to a high standard with great choices and the waiting on staff were very friendly and courteous. We found all bars were stoked with a varied choice of branded alcohol in addition to local light and dark beers. We were always able to find seating on the beach or by the pool and towels were always available (without the use of towel cards). Daily activities were organised by the hard working entertainment team, evening shows were available but, not to a high standard (the only negative), and, there was a nighttime disco for those who wanted further evening entertainment. Live music was provided in the lobby bar each evening which provided great background listening. Housekeeping was done to an excellent standard daily with a nighttime turn down service. The beach was cleaned daily by a hard working team as were the hotel grounds. Negatives out of the control of the hotel were the daily arrival of traders on the beach but, they would take a no from us and only occasionally tried to return. On the whole, the experience was well above what we expected and we fully enjoyed our stay. Well worth arranging a family holiday at this hotel. More>

I did a lot of research before choosing the Now Amber. I thought that I would write a detailed report just in case anyone else out there reads as many reviews as I do before booking. We stayed for 6 days. If you are looking for peace, quiet, and relaxation, this is not the spot for you. They seem to be looking for a special kind of person. Someone who likes the beautiful ocean (but doesn’t care much to hear it), likes to party/drinks a lot of poor quality liquor, and appreciates the semblance of finer food and restaurants without the actual high food and beverage quality. Basically, this place is superficial. Beautiful in pictures, poor in quality once you get there and experience the details. Pros - Beautiful views. Sits in a beautiful bay. Nice beach. - Beautiful décor and very well updated resort, overall. The style looks so upscale and is wonderful to look at. - Palapas on the beach are a nice touch (despite noise from the pools) - Staff is good about clearing towels so you can more easily find a place to sit on the beach/by the pool - The Japanese/Teppanyaki place is tasty - The staff is amazingly friendly and very gracious - Tasty drinks (low quality liquor, though) - Salsa lesson was fun - Evening shows were great! - Rhythms of the Night is a MUST and was the highlight of the trip (not within the hotel, but worth noting) Cons - Men must wear long pants at ALL the restaurants, with the exception of the buffet. This is crazy on vacation and in a hot place like P.V. - Non stop noise. This is a huge con for us. Music, events, something is always playing noise which drowns out the sound of the ocean. We would hear the elevator music in the lounge while party music was going on below. It was too much at once. - There is no quality air conditioning anywhere except your room. I got heat rash from being there for the first time in my life. My husband and I regularly left restaurants covered in sweat. Even cooling down in the pool didn't stop me from getting heat rash. - The upgrade to the ‘preferred’ is not worth it. You won’t use the lounge enough to take advantage of the upgrade and the views from all the rooms are amazing. Besides, their ‘upgraded’ liquor is well level in the US. For example, Bacardi was the upgraded rum. - You cannot check in without a one hour pitch trying to get you to go to their ‘ownership’/timeshare presentation. Make sure you are not hungry when you arrive. You’ll be there a while. And they try to get you to pay a great deal more ($1k in our case) for an upgraded room before you even SEE your room. - If you go, it is NOT a 90 minute timeshare presentation. It is longer. We arrived at 5pm on a Sunday and didn’t start our vacation until noon the next day between all the pitches (plus sleeping and a one hour dinner). The ‘quality assurance’ person you speak to after the presentation does not do Q.A. They do sales. This was insulting to be lied to. - The sales tchotchke guys on the beach are non stop and the stationed ‘security’ person does nothing to fend them off. The two times I closed my eyes, I was woken by the sales people within minutes. I understand they are trying to make a living selling souvenirs, but I would love to enjoy a peaceful vacation on the ocean. - I didn’t like having to wait for all the restaurants to open for dinner - The food (teppanyaki place not included) leaves something to be desired. It’s ok. Not great. They tout the steak as amazing. It isn’t. I know what al dente pasta tastes like. Both times I had it, it was undercooked, not al dente. The buffet regularly had flies around. I guess no one is afraid of e.coli - The shower door leaves pools of water in the bathroom - I have been to Mexico multiple times. This was the first time I ever experienced Montezuma’s revenge. The staff swore it couldn’t be from the resort. This is impossible. They then tried to imply I had too much to drink. I had 1 and ½ glass of champagne and a glass of wine at dinner with multiple bottles of water before getting sick. I guess it could be a pro or a con: if you are a smoker, you’ll be in good company. The only place it was not allowed was in the rooms. Want to view the beautiful sunset from the lounge? Get ready for smoke! Want to hang out by the pools? Get ready for smoke! Think you’re safe by the ocean? No. Get ready for smoke! Ultimately, I feel deeply deceived. I have traveled to many places and this was the most disappointing vacation I have ever had. There were some highlights, but the cons far outweighed the pros. More>

Hotel Staff was OUTSTANDING. One person stands out. Azucena Gomez the reservation manager was extremely helpful to my 12 member family starting in March when we booked, through the time we arrived and left in the middle of June 2016. We all found the food throughout the stay in every restaurant to be fantasist. We found everything to include the entertainment to be wonderful and well worth the money. The only negative comment would be about our room. Room 1370 had a few small problems that we reported and did not get corrected while we were there. I would bet they continue to exist for all remaining guests to enjoy. Of the two repairmen that came to our room, not one spoke any English so that we could describe the problem that needed fixing. Hand and finger pointing did not work at all. The problems found were #1 The sliding balcony door would not lock, making it easy for the occupants from the joining room to climb around the divider and enter our room. No problem for us this time. Our son was in the next rooms. That may not be the case for the next occupant. #2, Lots of water build up around the bathroom door frame every night. Definitely not from our shower. We believe from the room above. For us, these were small problems that would not stop us from going back for another stay. On our next visit I will demand to be able to secure my room from all outsiders even if it means to pack up and move to a different room. Still love this place. Thanks for all you did for us Azucena Gomez...... We will see you again possible in November this year 2016. More>
