Loved it! The staff was great...rooms clean! Loved that it was away from a lot of other resorts..food was great and so were the drinks..having so many sit down restaurants to choose from...plus all the extra ways to eat was awesome! Also got to make good use of the resort credit! Would definitely recommend

Have just returned from 2 weeks at Moon Palace, travelling with Virgin Holidays & we were allocated the Nizuc resort on arrival. This was our first trip to Mexico and won't be our last. Fell in love with the country and the people are so lovely. Weather was great, very hot, first holiday we have not laid in the sun but under umbrellas and still got a tan. We had tropical storm Franklin for two days but this didn't effect us. Food was ok, breakfast was good, poolside food good, evening meals were ok but sometimes a long wait & if you want to book a restaurant do this as soon as you arrive. We especially liked the Brazilian Steakhouse, Los Caporales & Momo. The coffee & cake shop was also a favourite, kids loved getting an ice cream or a crepe. A Special mention must go out to the lovely Juan Carlos at Aquilar poolside bar who looked after us everyday, endless supply of drinks & food always delivered with a smile & a joke. Thank you Carlos, you made our stay special. Loved the crazy golf, sadly the flow rider was always busy so my son didn't get chance to try this. Evening entertainment was a bit hit or miss. After exploring both Sunrise & The Grand, this resort is huge! If we did come back again would definitely go to The Grand, as it was stunning. Would like to mention that there was nothing in the evenings for teenagers to do at Nizuc which was disappointing, as there was an arcade, games room, & hang out at Sunrise and The Grand, this does need to be looked into, especially on the two days of rain! But all in all a lovely family holiday at Moon Palace, thank you.

Great holiday

I recently stay at moon palace what a great place for every one First upgraded to a sea view room with a Jacuzzi. It was great for my kids as they enjoyed the pools and the water park Me and my wife had our time at the pools, dinner and late night drinks I would highly recommend this place as every thing was right for me They gave us 1500 resort vouchers spent on trips to Chechen izza, spa and dolphin trips It's good believe me for the price every thing was there. Great service Great location

We booked the Moon Palace Grand Cancun with 2 other families which made a total of 12 in our party. We followed our friends out a few days later. At check in we where directed to what seemed like a very large empty room that looked unfinished, this is apparently an overspill check in area. A terrible first impression for what is called a grand hotel. The room we have is sufficient for our stay. Very comfortable beds and good air conditioning do allow a good nights sleep. The view we have at block 88 is overlooking what looks like an empty car park. Seeing that we don't spend that much time in the room we have dismissed the view. We have found the housekeeping is hit and miss. Yesterday we where only left 2 large towels when we needed 4 , after 3 calls to housekeeping we gave up and managed with the 2 towels between 4 of us, housekeeping did call and ask where we happy with the response to our request for the towels ???, we still did not get them delivered. The room has been getting made up every day but sometimes this is late on. There is a stain on the floor that looks like a coffee spill that has been there since we arrived so obviously the floors don't get cleaned. The resort credits do seem to be a con, we planned to use our credits for some of the excursions the resort has on offer but not all of them are covered by the credits and whatever you do use them on a 16% resort tax is charged, this is very apparent especially in the restaurants where there are food upgrades available using your resort credits. This would make some of the options available more expensive than if you where eating outside of the resort. The water slides and construction , we where told that there is building work going on but it is hardly noticeable. At the waterpark there is construction on quite a large scale going on while a ew of the facilities are open. The wave pool is very small but open , the multi lane slide is very good, the lazy river is very small and the small kids water attraction seems good. When the water park does eventually open it will be very good. As to the option of using the outside resort waterpark (Ventura water park ) this is a disappointing option. One of the other members of our group went to book this with customer service and was given 12 tickets and told the transportation was full and to make our own way there at a cost of $20 each way.. When he said that we should not pay this as ,it is not our fault we are having to leave the resort . The customer rep told him it was not there fault either and showed no interest at all in helping him. It was not until he complained the next morning and asked for a manager that they agreed to pay for transport to and from the park. The water park was good and the group enjoyed the slides but the food was very poor quality. As for the exclusivity of the resort this is a joke, the grand is full of holiday makers from the other two hotels on the complex, trying to get a table at one of the walk in restaurants is ridiculous, nearly a 2 hour wait last night to get into the jade restaurant and when we did get in the menu was not full as they had ran out of some of the options available to order.. We have found the serving staff are under pressure as there is obviously not enough of them to cope with the amount of people staying at the resort but praise due to them as they are still very pleasant and you can see they are trying there hardest to please. We have found that after 10pm most nights there is nothing to do as the entertainment has finished and people seem to be just wondering around or trying to find a seat in the lobby area that is enormous but not enough seating. The pool areas are all very clean and seem well serviced. The adult pool is obviously the jewel in the crown of the resort it is one of the nicest pools I have seen at any hotel but what a waste, during our stay we have seen maybe 20-25 people using this pool that is the size of a football field, the facility is closed of an evening when it really could be the centre of the resorts entertainment. There are plenty of other pools that could be used as adults only that would suit the amount of guests using it. This pool could be best served for either families or as a pool for 12-25 year olds with the great sound system and dj booth. We booked this holiday with Thomas Cook and feel misled by the actual scale of building work and the star rating of this resort, we were told that the resort is exclusive and we would find no problems in getting in to a restaurant to eat. We could of booked one of the other two hotels on the resort ( which are both very nice ) and saved a other of money and had full use of all the grands facilities. We still have 10 days left at the resort and I hope to report back that things have changed and got better. I have compiled this on my experience and the experience of our friends who have been here 5 days longer than us. In hind site I feel we should of changed the hotel to one more established and less negative feedback on trip advisor than the grand. I have stayed in 5 star hotels in Europe , Turkey and the USA and the moon palace is not to the same level as these hotels. Maybe 5 star in Mexico is different than 5 star everywhere else or is it just the grand. ..? I will report back again before the end of my stay.

Stayed at Moon Palace -from 8th till 15th...Sunrise first time here....start with negative and I'm being picky here......Check in could be quicker, seemed hit and miss/Tried to book restaurant at grand but nothing available for 4 days ahead. /seaweed on beech /Queued up for rest at Grand told. 2hrs wait /At Jade restaurant waited then told it as due to not enough menus /the bus that takes you between the hotels is not organised nearly an argument as people went to get on as we got off........... but now for the good bits, this is a huge hotel we had a week this is not enough...staff, room, best I've ever experienced on any holiday, the food was amazing... If you have been to Las Vegas it's just like that in the lobby and restaurant areas..... We loved it and yes I would return, the negative points above are easily solved, there are staff everywhere just need them sorting out the queues for the bus,....nothing they could do about the seaweed...they were trying...we did the spa treatments...that was amazing...did 9 holes on the Jungle course...even though not much of a golfer still great experience.....overall you have to go ....
