Very Disappointing

You can not call a resort all inclusive if there is upgrade charges for drinks ,food exc. The game this hotel plays is with their restaurants ,they limit seating capacity to direct guests to the buffet where they recycle food from one day to the next (example one morning they had turkey and cranberry sauce. Try visiting Palace Resorts to full understand an all inclusive.

Bahamas trip

This was my second trip to Melia hotel in Nassau, and the first trip was 3 and a half years ago and the hotel has a special place in my heart and is where i met the girl i fell in love with. The hotel is currently under some renovations on the outside and from the inside pretty basic rooms and a bit dated and plain. The restaurants were o.k. and the beach is very nice. i am a contractor and deal much with decor and the finish side of projects, so maybe a little skeptical more than the average person. This is not a super upscale place but for the money was good. The staff was very friendly and helpful and over all a nice stay. We then went to Emerald bay at a Sandals resort and you really notice the difference between the two places. Sandals in Exuma was simply stunning!! the beach perfect!! the restaurants bars and landscape also perfect and had decent entertainment. Was an adults only resort and was very nice in every way. In all everything went well with some delays in checking in and getting in the room, but is one of my favorite things to do in life, and at the current time is the only way to see my girlfriend from Russia. So very special times for me and i have nothing at all negative to say. Thanks for a great trip and look forward to many more times. i would tell anyone is worth it to go and these memories last a lifetime.

Nice place, but...

Some "howevers": The Melia is situated on a beautiful stretch of beach; however, the walk, although fine in one direction, was limited to a couple hundred feet the other way. The hotel is nice; however, there are renovations in progress (good news) resulting in one restaurant being closed (bad) and the largest of three pools being closed as well (more bad) - not sure there is any warning from Apple on these things (and we had paid extra for a pool side room)!? The good news is that they arranged to have us moved upon availability the second day to a nice room with both pool and ocean views. One whirlpool (of 2) was closed down and one had no working jets or hotter than lukewarm water. Our room was nice; however, be warned that the thermostats seem to work marginally well - difficult to get a real change of temperature. Overall, the place was nice, the food was terrific, but there could have been some forewarnings about some of the deficiencies.

I booked this trip as a girls getaway for me and my cousin. We stayed in the level. We checked in at the level check in, but did not receive a towel as it states in the website. Once we got into the room we had to complain about hair being all over the bathroom floor and sink. I do have to say that when we did complain about things they made sure they were fixed right away. The next day we went to complain about our tub, the water wasn't going down and was filling up the tub. My travel agent informed us that at the level it was adults only. NO IT WASN'T! There were families on the level with toddlers. So I thought maybe our side of the beach would be kid free....NOPE! There were children at the level side of the beach also blowing into conch shells. The food was nothing to be happy about. The buffet was nothing spectacular. The drinks I have to say were on point. The activities team weren't really very involved, at least not that I saw. Last year I stayed at the Majestic Elegance in Punt Cana and honestly I should've went back there. Everything at that place was phenomenal. Nothing like that at the Melia. They do need to update the resort. Next year I think I'll try Breeze's at the Bahamas.

We spent 4 Days in this resort. I read many reviews from good to horrible. I suggest that you make your own opinion about this resort. We had a fabulous time . The drinks were excellent name brand liquor and domestic beer. the service was exceptional. I need to recognize a few of the staff members : Nikki the activities of what a blast we had at the pool with her, Callen, Fredrick, Philip, Carlos, LIL Moe . Richard the waiter at dinner at the Ogrill . The entire wait staff at the Ogrill were very pleasant and made us feel very welcomed . Concierge Claramarie was excellent whit directions help with the WiFi checking in for our return flights and boarding passes . The hotel is making upkeep, quality improvements . Yes the one pool was closed but the are installing new tile. There are 2 other pools and a ocean . The Aqua restaurant was closed do to the improvements to the staff cafeteria. The Baha Mar is within walking distance the Melia has a shuttle to take you there as well . The hotel was very clean. I had hot water and-great water pressure any time I showered. The beach was clean. There were vendors on the beach. But if you have issues with that type of thing , maybe spend the little extra for the next level . We even ventured into Nassau that was approx 15-20 min from the hotel by the 10 bus. That was $1.25 per person per trip . I have to say for my first time to an island . This experience was truly a great one . I have to thank the staff at the Melia for that . The only thing that I can say that wasnt a positive was the one restaurant The market . The staff acted like it was painful to wait on you and it was a buffet. My experience at the Melia as a 4.3 Star

No entertainment at night. Not much to do when you have someone 17 yrs old with you. Experienced disappointment when asked to leave one side of the beach because we did not have the correct wrist band on when there was no one else around us. Rooms could use a good deal of upgrading, especially in the bathroom.

I have used Apple Vacations for many trips over the years. I have to say that this experience was subpar. The hotel is rated as a 5-apple hotel and it is not even close in my opinion. The facility really needs renovations: new carpet, paint, updated furniture, restaurants, cleaning, etc. The beds in the rooms are very low to the ground. The air ventilation is loud in the hotel rooms. There is limited air conditioning in the hotel hallways and elevators. The cleaning staff do not clean any of the sink handles (mold growing behind levers) in our room as well as public restaurants on the property. We were very disappointed that we had to pay extra to go to the steak restaurant. A lot of the food/cold items like fruit on the breakfast buffet was not chilled. There was no music played outside at the bar. We felt that the staff at the Melia were very nice overall. I just think that $$$ need to be put into the hotel for improvements (The hotel is owned with 4 other resorts on the island by the Chinese). Another unfortunate event is that it rained for 3 days of our vacation so we called Apple to inquire if we could extend our trip. I called 3x and also left a message as the voicemail said to leave a message if you are on an existing trip. No one ever called us back. I have always promoted Apple to my friends and family, and to not receive any call back whatsoever has made me re-evaluate Apple as a top vacation planning company. Sad.

We took our family on vacation and my wife and I did our 30th anniversary vow renewal. Diane Murray-Flowers did a wonderful job and made our renewal worry free. The beach is nice in front of hotel and food is good. It was a good time to go because if wasn't overcrowded. I would stay there again.

After saving and waiting for our mommy and daughter yearly vacation. It was so discouraging. The Hotel staff seemed annoyed, and frustrated. I reached out to apple, the hotel manager, as well as majestic tours. I got no where, more or less just wasted vacation time!!! Won't go back to the hotel and may consider not using apple anymore.

Buffet is awful service. Glass of water should be poorer as you are seated. I was never able to get a cup of coffe for breakfast.... maybe when I was about to leave!! Lunch would be nice to get nachos and light food on beach like other all inclusive....hate to take an hour of vacation to sit for poor service. Mexican and hibachi restaurants were excellent and great service as I expect!! I have been traveling with apple vacations for probably 20 plus trips in the past 18 years.. so I know what simple things should be addressed! Apple vacation should keep a data base of clients name and see frequent flyer and give some perks!!

Two words—Unimpressive and Disappointing
Ekruss,
Thu Jun 14 13:46:26 EDT 2018
The amount of money we spent on these two rooms (and all inclusive for our family of 5) we were definitely disappointed from the moment we pulled onto the property and entered the front doors. Unimpressive is exactly how we felt about this hotel. The staff was unfriendly, our rooms were an hour later than they should have been for check in, they wanted to have our children in a room that was NOT adjoining to ours so we could check in “faster” (45 mins after the correct time instead of an hour)—I, of course, would NOT agree to this. So the manager said it was my fault we were not in our room on time. This was our welcome. Not impressed. This hotel is under “improvements” right now. Which is DEFINITELY needed. Looks like they haven’t updated it in MANY years. From the few restaurant choices to the small buffet offerings I would definitely say read more reviews before booking. There are other options in Nassau that I wish I would have read about before booking here. These pictures don’t do it justice but a small token of what you see at a lot of corners in the hotel and how things are not updated/unimpressive. We loved the Bahamas! We would definitely go back to this wonderful island but we would never stay at the Melia again.

Beach and surroundings delightful. Room is fine. But restaurant staff need training in how to deal with guests. Main buffet restaurant badly planned with gloomy atmosphere and limited variety of food.

I planned a 5 day 4 night birthday trip to the Melia with 13 other women. At the early stage of planning I went back and forth when trying to choose THE resort for me and my girls. Based on pictures, amenities, and price...Melia was the lucky one. Bad decision: 1. I called 2 days prior to arrival to confirm the deposit hold. I was told $100 so I sent the message out to everyone so that they can plan accordingly. We arrived...checked in and the deposit is $200. 2. Upon arrival...as we were pulling up, I noticed construction and the curb appeal was terrible. I was actually embarrassed. (Keep in mind 8 out of the 13 girls had never been out of the USA.) First impression meant the world to me. Construction is fine...but at least let your guests know on the website or when making reservations. 3. We were told our rooms may not be side by side but will be on the same floor or very close to each other. This was definitely a lie. Only 2 rooms were on the same floor. Everyone were so spread out. Not even in the same building. AND we all checked in at the same time. 4. The rooms were actually decent. But, Only one elevator in my wing worked and the stairs were

1st time trip and it was very relaxing! Water was beautiful! Just amazing! No issues with transportation to a from.Check in was pretty smooth for all of us except for having to wait for one room.Beds were small, but comfy.Carpet could use an update.Restroom door!lol.. It was glass and you could see our shadows which we got a kick out of and constantly yelling don't be looking at me! Not that we were looking, but just standing near RR door or walking out of room.😂Refrigerator stocked!Rooms cleaned daily. We have some picky eaters, but it passed for most of us! We all loved breakfast! We didn't starve which was one thing we worried about.Mixed drinks were good! Category 5 and Miami Vice yummy!Entertainment was great! Two great live bands while we were there, karaoke, and DJs were excellent.. Not a party all night hotel so more family oriented and the graduates enjoyed it...Entertainmemt over at 12 and last bar closed at 1.My niece is 5,and she's a fish!Loved the beach and pools! She wants to live there!😂Some of your workers very nice and helpful, some not so nice.Souvenir shops right across street, so very convenient..😞Still updating hotel, but overall we had a great stay! I recommend! I also recommend the Blue Lagoon!

We stayed here, arriving at 11.30pm first impressions weren’t great as the staff at the front desk where not friendly no eye contact and basic communication was “couldn’t be bothered attitude”. The room we were placed in was something of a complaint. It was very close to where the dj room was so we heard all of the music and it was on the main route to a hall way so people were passing until early morning. Also the view wasn’t great. This however was resolved the next morning and we were moved to a pool view room, the staff member was helpful in doing so that morning. We had no issues booking in to the restaurants. The presentation of the food is good and the variety of restaurants is good. Our favourite was the Italian, we went twice. Staff there were great! Overall the food wasn’t amazing but it was nice enough. There are three pools all on the beach front, the beach is beautiful, the building appears to need some maintenance but there is currently Work being undertaken to improve this. The pools are nice and there is daily entertainment which we enjoyed. We took the shuttle to the baha mar where we had access to a bar with good entertainment and the casino which was fun...however easy enough to loose!! But that’s the risks we enjoyed it still. Overall the staff was a huge mixture; some were lovely friendly and chatty, one lady who hosted the esta Vida bar named Brenikka was fab, others also which I can’t remember the names were great, but some were just rude with regards to being unhelpful or poor attitudes which spoilt the atmosphere. The night entertainment is good and fun, generally the resort is lively, but you can chose to relax instead if you prefer. If the staff were trained to be more approachable and supportive and the building fully refurbished I would give this a comfortable 4 star. We enjoyed our stay despite the few negatives, Sam and Bhana
