Wonderful family vacation!

We were a group of 14, visiting the Melia Braco in July 2017. We all reserved rooms at The Level, and were thrilled to have all been placed in the same building. From the minute we arrived, throughout our entire stay, the service was spectacular. I wish I could remember everyone's names, but a special thank you to Javian, who actually walked into the sea waist deep, to bring us our cocktails ( a first for us Javy :) ), Shevroy our pool bartender, CJ, DJ, and the rest of the staff at the Golden Sands. They were all amazing! I can't say enough about the food. Awesome with the exception of one restaurant. Rasta Pasta needs an overhaul. The service was slow, and the portions were miniscule. All of our rooms were wonderful, with the most beautiful views. Our beach was private, making it quiet and relaxing. We never missed out on the shade.....plenty of umbrellas and cabanas. The resort had some fun afternoon activities, and there was entertainment each evening. It is definitely quiet by 10pm, which was fine for us. All in all, we would highly recommend this resort! Thank you so very much for making this years family vaca so memorable.

Amazing time!!!

This place is amazing when you need to relax. It's not a good hotel for party, it is quiet and beautiful place. The food was deliscious - fish, seafood, vegetables, fruits... Everything was fresh and tasty. What else? Quality service, beautiful and green garden, clean beach area, nice room. we love this hotel and totally recommend to stay here.

Melia Braco Village Review Our trip occurred between July 17 - July 27th We must say that we have been on many vacations to many locations and this one ranks at the top. Honestly there is nothing really that I can find wrong with this resort or its staff. This resort is not a party resort, but one that you go to for peace and quiet and to regenerate yourself. STAFF The staff at this resort were top-notch! If you spend a minute to get to know them you will have an amazing vacation experience. They work hard and we really got close to a few of them...so much so that I actually had tears in my eyes when saying my good-byes. So here's an acknowledgment to the wonderful people who work at the Melia that are hand-picked by the General Manager Dimitri. Skeita our beach server, who worked tirelessly walking the span of the beach making sure everyone got hydrated. Skeita was caring and an amazing young woman!!!! Then there were the staff at the Market Buffet Restaurant especially Jazzy, Ovral, Joel (aka Chop Chop), Erica, Randy, Horace, Kimberly, Rupert (made the best omelettes) who made us feel special every time we entered the buffet and came over to say hello! ROOM We decided NOT to upgrade to the Level section, and seriously after my experience I honestly do not see a reason to. My room was a Deluxe Gardenview and overlooked a lush assortment of greenery...we also had a partial view of the ocean. The room was tastefully decorated and one of the cleanest I have experienced in the Caribbean. The bed was very comfortable and comparable to one of the higher end hotels in Canada...I have issues sleeping through the night and I actually slept through many nights. Our fridge was refilled daily and we left a note asking for specific flavours of drinks and chips and were never disappointed. GARDENS The gardens and property were immaculately cared for by a team of gardeners that worked tirelessly from early morning through to the heat of the day. We were so impressed by the gentleman who cared for the plants near our building that we tipped him. The look of surprise by our acknowledgment was wonderful. SNORKELLING/SWIMMING There has been a lot of complaints about the beach, so here is my two cents worth. The beach itself is walkable barefoot...again there is a group of men that start cleaning the beach from early morning to approx. 4 pm when their shift end. They go back and forth all day and clean any seaweed or debris that wash up, truly it was the cleanest beach I have seen...other than the stupid tourists that leave their garbage behind (my pet peeve)the beach was very clean. My husband and I love snorkling so the fact that the water was rocky was a plus. Yes, you MUST wear water shoes as there are rocks and various sea urchins so the shoes protect your feet. My husband and I snorkelled every morning as that was the calmest the water was all day. After experimenting the different lagoons we found the best one was in front of the buffet restaurant. We saw flounders, puffer fish and many other varieties of fish. It was awesome and we always got out of the water we were awed by what we saw. BEACH I would like to see more shaded cabanas on the beach as the few that were there were usually spoken for early in the morning. That being said there were never a lack of beach chairs for everyone to use without getting up early to claim one. Thank you to Jay and company for working tirelessly to keeping the beach spotless. FOOD The food was beyond amazing! This is a very small resort, so the buffet was small, however I have been to Cuba many times and their buffet are large and I cant find anything I want to eat. At the Melia the food has so much flavour and the quality was one of the best I have experienced for an all inclusive. The beef is tender, the fruit is so sweet, and the jerk chicken and pork was one of the best my husband has tasted. The hamburgers at the grill taste like they have been homemade and were absolutely delicious. The Friday night street buffet was spectacular and memorable. ENTERTAINMENT The shows in the evening were ok, however we were usually so tired by the end of the day that we ended up turning in early. My only disappointment was that there were no steel drum shows in the evening...was looking forward to hearing this music. TIPPING Even though tipping is not required, I felt I wanted to do so. We, going on vacation are blessed to be able to afford such a trip. Staff at these resorts don't make a lot of money, and if I can tip them and allow them to buy something that they would normally not able to afford for themselves or their families then why not! I know that my daughter who used to waitress said that a tip shows your appreciation for a job well done and is always greatly appreciated. I tipped the gardener, cleaning lady, bellboys and especially the wait staff. EXCURSIONS We decided to book a driver ahead of time to take us to the various beautiful places Jamaica had to offer. We booked Marvyn Gayle tours that came highly recommended from a friend of my sisters who had used them several times. Our driver's name was Whitfield and he was excellent, very professional, friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable of the island's history We went to Dunns River Falls first thing in the morning and it wasn't as crowed as if we had gone later in the day. Our tour guide Moses was great and we had an incredible time. Make sure you have water shoes (if not you can buy them there). Next we went to lunch at Scotchies a favourite jerk chicken restaurant...the food was ok. Our next trip was the Blue Hole the beauty of the water and foliage has to be seen. Took a shopping trip for t-shirts and rum next. Stopped for some patties at Juicy Patties they were affordable, huge and delicious...they came in many flavours. Lastly, we went to the Luminous Lagoon after sunset. My husband was sceptical about this thought it was some gimmick...but once in the water in the pitch dark the water glowed with any movement...we were like little children splashing...as the water droplets fell from your body it twinkled, it was truly a magical experience! OVERALL EXPERIENCE I've been many places around the world, and I can honestly say that this vacation was as close to perfect that we have experienced. The staff truly touched us and taught us a valuable lesson in what the people of Jamaica believe in...and that is PEACE, LOVE RESPECT, I have never returned to the same resort twice however, this is the one exception...already looking into possibly returning next summer.

Amazing
