Nice stay at Marival
WILLIAM W.
Aug 20 2017
Rooms are great, newly updated, cold, nice beds and pillows. Ala carte restaurants were really good, breakfast in restaurant was good, main pool was way too packed and way too many kids. We finally found the adult only pool because we got tired of kids jumping in where we were standing. The pool bars were busy, I wish they had better beer selections. Beach was nice, all staff was great! Overall, it was a nice place to stay.

Alcohol drinks watered down
ROY K.
Jul 12 2017
The drinks at all locations in the resort were watered down. And the bottles did not contain the brand that was on the bottle. I asked for a shot of rum to confirm and after asking his manager they gave me a shot from behind the bar. Even that was not Bacardi. My wife can only Handel 1 real drink. She was drinking over 7 drinks and never felt it. This was the only issue we had with the vacation.

This is the 4th time I have gone to Mexico. The 1st 2 times I went to Cancun and we used Apple Vacations. I was highly impressed. The 3rd time I went to Cabo San Lucas with family and did not make the travel/hotel arrangements and was not impressed. When I booked this trip I knew I wanted to use Apple Vacations. I was disappointed that it was rated a 5 star hotel. Not sure if I will use Apple Vacations again.

This resort is great for kids and family , the rooms are very nice and clean . Food was ok the breakfast was the best , pizza wa great but really you don't want to eat pizza everyday, buffet was not good at all . The best part is the facility very clean , great kids pool . I will love to go back but I do suggest they work on the buffet to be better .

we did not like the persistence of the RCI person we were handled over to when we checked in. we did not know they were an RCI or we would have asked to skip them. It would be great if the hotel could have a non smoking section on the beach. people were close to us & we constantly had smoke in our direction & did not want to move because we wanted the shade. very thankful they kept Miguel for the yoga classes.

Our room kept falling apart, toilet paper holder fell off the wall, door below the sink fell off and landed on my foot and my moms room the sink faucet kept falling out of the wall. Also did not like that you didn't have much privacy with the glass doors for our toilet area. I also wished there was beers stocked in our refrigerator every day like other places I have stayed at in Mexico.

I could write a long detailed review of The Marival, but in short it is a mixed bag. There's a lot of other things that your survey does not cover that might drag their rating down a bit. It's a very nice place, but it has its problems.

There was only one of the service restaurants out of three open at dinner and breakfast only the buffet was pen for lunch. The elevators broke a couple of times which greatly affected me because I am somewhat disabled. I was unable to go to walk on the beach because they didn't have rails on the stairs and no ramps. Because they only had one restaurant open they had told us there were no reservations available I had to ask for a manager to get seating and both nights there had been plenty of tables available. The handicap facilities were poor, they think all handicap people are only in wheelchairs I use a walker the toilets were all too low

Our hotel room was the first room off the lobby! This has got to be the worst room in the hotel! With the open concept to the lobby all noise traveled; therefore, I was woken each day before 6:00am to voices, laughter from either the staff or guests. Overall I found the hotel staff to be rather unfriendly, not the "service" I had expected. The bartenders at the pool (family) were actually rude; most often did not even speak to you when you ordered a drink. The animation team at the hotel were fabulous and extremely friendly. They provided the daily entertainment as well as the shows at night; they were great! Many of the hotel staff spoke little to no english which surprised me; I ordered egg whites for breakfast and the Omelette chef had no idea what I was asking. Overall, pleasant visit due to the animation team and the friendly guests we met. Hotel staff were just not friendly and didn't seem to have service as a priority.

This is a solid three star resort, but because of the poor food can't get any better than a 3 star review

My family of 7 had a nice time at the resort. The actual resort itself if very good. The accommodations, staff, location are very nice and could compete with 4 star properties. Nice pools, easy beach access, entertaining nightly shows (low budget of course) and energetic staff. The problem is that the food in some cases is very bad and at the best OK. So if you go into your stay knowing that you may want to eat off property at least a few times and don't expect anything better than very low end cafeteria food, you will have a nice stay. We got a fantastic rate of approx. $1,000 for air, lodging and all-inclusive for 8 nights, so we went in knowing that the price was going to have to compensate for the overall stay. But in reality it was just the food that was bad, the resort was great.

Not bad, might be back

This was first time to Mexico and we stayed at Marival as got good deal and friend said he stays here and loves it. lol start with good. People here very friendly, especially Judith. Very nice lady, can’t say enough nice things. Works at poolside and up in M &M lounge. Everyone at lounge nice for that matter. Alacarte restaurants were good especially the Italian one was the best over all of them. Buffet was okay but I expected that. Gym could have had some different things. Not sure if you need that many spin bikes. We didn’t get harassed by time share people as much as I read other people did. But my advice is you want to sell timeshares to off season people, upgrade them to grand side as club side is average but you can see why people get sucked into buying as grand rooms were nicer. Not sure why they have security boxes that have keys as you have to carry it around everywhere. Key code would have been better. Wasn’t explained to us we could’ve asked for beer in our fridge, with pop and water but having those supplied was nice. Going off season probably was better as not crowded on the adult pool side. Front desk said we had pool view but it was more buffet restaurant view. Thought we could have been given better room for off season. To me it looks better set up for timeshare and platinum /gold members, than for vacationers like me. I would go back if I got the right deal, but for upgrades and amenities, I’ll look around and compare for next trip.

Great experience

We booked a very last minute trip here---5 days advance. Not our first time in Vallarta/Nayarit. Our first night there while on the beach we found tons of sand dollars. Incredible experience. The next morning while walking on the beach we found a few sea turtles. The surfing instructor we met asked if we wanted to see more as he had a bucket full. He put them on the beach and we watched them go out to sea. Next morning he had double the amount. The resort was very nice. Rooms nice, not spectacular, but we didn't go with the intention of spending much time in the room. Staff were all wonderful, not a single bad experience. We went during rainy season so not all restaurants were open so we ate at snack bar and the buffet. Food was ok. They had a section for gluten free which was wonderful and it was truly gluten free. We did not go to any shows, but the entertainment around the pool was nice. I traveled alone with my 2 daughters ages 9 and 13. We would definitely go back.

**This review is strictly on the wedding services and photography services (Paparazzo Photostudio). I just came back from celebrating my 10 year wedding anniversary and had a vow renewal ceremony planned through Marival. I have been planning this for the last year, and have been working with Karina Lopez Ponce. Every correspondence with her has been professional, effortless, and speedy. She was incredible to work with and very accommodating. On the day of the ceremony, Rosa took such gracious care of me and our guests. Regarding the on-site photographers, we booked them to handle the photography and videography for us. I have seen a lot of bridal photographers' work and portfolio. The work of Anibal and Carlos, the two photographers, were by far the best I have seen. On the day of the ceremony, I put my full faith and trust in them and their recommendations and they did not disappoint. Their work was simply amazing.

WOW... where do I start! What an amazing place! Beautiful resort, great food and an entertainment team that is out of this world! The staff really made or trip so great. The entertainment team treated us so nice and they were so very helpful and friendly. We hadn't even made it off the airplane and we were checking availability to go back! Huge shout out to a few entertainers that went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable....Byran, Ivan, Lupita, Ruben, Julian and Leo! We can't wait to make it back to Marival Resort and we are looking forward to see all of our new friends again. God bless
