We stayed here one night as our condo was having some repairs done to it. Your average all inclusive resort. Rooms were 3/5. Beach bar was help yourself with less than average staff and service. The bartender was very unfriendly. The pool is big and full of laughter but again no drink service and we had to wait in line at the palapa bar to get pretty low end drinks. We did have a fabulous dinner at La Pergola. Everything was great and Rene was a wonderful waiter with great recommendations and paid us very good attention. Definitely recommend dinner at La Pergola! More>

Marival Resort July 2016

I just wanted to give my review of the Marival Resort. We came in a group of 13 and was staying from anywhere from 5 -7 days. Customer service was below part to say the least. Several occasions during our stay, we made simple request for assistance and pretty much was told, sorry we can't help you. For example, we had an event scheduled but due to the weather we didn't know if it could still be done. We needed assistance in calling the location and after asking the front desk, resort operator, and concierge; we was told sorry we can't do that........ The resort restaurants were great and enjoyed them. Food in general areas like buffets were well below par. Bars around the resort were understaffed and drinks were watered down. They did have a VIP section which had its own menu and waiters. So after paying $35 and expecting a little better service, unfortunately it was another disappointment. Just would think they would have more then two waiters serving 75 spots. Maybe with more waiters you wouldn't have to wait 30-45 mins for a drink. I'm sure there are great qualities about this resort and maybe we just caught them at a bad time but what I do know is that I will never come back or would not recommend this place to anyone. But once again, this is just my review. More>

Excellent Resort with Superb Service!!

Very friendly resort, with lots of activities and lots to eat. Rooms were clean and maids came twice per day. Plenty to drink!. Pool areas were big with an abundance of chairs and towels. Handy pool swim up bar and stunning views to the ocean! I traveled with 8 other ladies and we were all equally pleased with the service, food and accomodations. The only issue was the bathrooms were not as private as they could've been. Doors to toilet and shower were frosted glass with clear glass on the bottom and. The sink areas were out in the open. For us, it was fine, but could be a little more discreet. Also, the wifi was very "hit and miss". It would constantly kick you off. However, this was VACATION and wifi was not really an issue for me. Puerta Vallarta Marival Resort & Suites

This was our first trip to Puerta Vallarta and our 2nd All inclusive Mexican resort. (The first was our honeymoon 17 years ago in Cancun.) This trip was wonderful! and way better than Cancun. Just returned 4 days ago and couldn't wait to write this review. I cannot say enough about how clean and nice this resort was. We stayed in a 2 bedroom/3 bathroom suite which was ocean front, and it was amazing. We are a family of 4 and had so much room. It was spacious, nice and comfortable. My husband and I loved sipping coffee on the balcony watching the ocean waves every morning prior to starting our day. The food in the resort was really good. Breakfast in the buffet was excellent. My husband and boys loved the pizza place and visited it multiple times a day for pizza, french fries and ice cream. The Italian restaurant was the best. The Mediterranean was good but not as good as the Italian. We did not eat in the Mexican because we could not get a reservation. Tip: As soon as you arrive and get settled, make your reservations in the restaurants (3) that require reservations. They book up fast and I heard many folks talking about how they could not get a reservation. It's worth the trouble and the restaurant reservation place is only open until 5PM. The resort has a teen room and my kids loved it. They spent a lot of time in there. You cannot play minigolf after 8 in the evening which is kind of bad because it's hot and it would be nice to play in the cool evening. The beach is beautiful and well kept. The main pools were hot and crowded, but the adult pool was nice. I saw a kid vomit in the main pool, and we were done after that. Played at the beach the rest of the time. We took 3 excusions with Vallarta Adventures and they were awesome!! Hidden Mexico was my favortie. My husband and boys loved the Extreme Adventure and all of us really enjoyed the Rhythms of the Night! This company is well run! I would imagine that any tour with them is worth it. Felt very safe! I used the spa for a massage and facial combo (85 minutes) and it was pure bliss. One of the best treatments ever! The Marival employees were welcoming and friendly. Absolutely loved this place. The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars was because of the time share people. They snag you right after you check in because the front desk sends you to a bar area for an overview of the resort and that's where they get you. They try to book your excursions and spa treatments. Don't do this with them. There is a counter with an assistant to book your excursions and a spa menu in your room. These people are pushy and become unfriendly the minute you turn down the welcome breakfast/presentation (requires $20 deposit) for the next day. When you check in, head to your room. You will be able to navigate the resort on your own. You don't need their overview. Ask to have your luggage sent to your room and head that way. It was also uncomfortable when we kept seeing the time share lady throughout are stay. We would try to dodge her and avoid eye contact but she would call us out. Just awkward. It was my only serious complaint about this place, and I had read other reviews prior to our trip about this same complaint. So clearly, the resort management is not willing to change their process which is too bad. The next time we go, we'll be smarter: Avoid time share folks and make dinner reservations immediately! Also, we bought boogie boards in the gift shop for our boys to play with in the ocean. ($50) Didn't need to. The resort offers them free at the beach. Anything non-motorized is free. Internet and TV not very consistent! But, that was okay! We all needed to unplug! We did travel by cab to the boardwalk at Puerta Vallarta and shopped. It was a fun experience. Very friendly folks and felt very safe. This place was truly awesome. The nightly shows, tennis courts, teen room, beach, etc. We will come back! More>

We went for four days, my boyfriend and I. Overall I would give the hotel a 3 out of 5. Pros: - Staff really works hard at trying to make sure you enjoy your stay - If you are traveling with a family w/kids, great activities for children. Cons: - The food was not the greatest. If you go, make reservations for the Italian restaurant l, it's the best. AVOID eating at the buffet. - Our room had a bad sewage odor. They were not able to move us to another room. So, we just stayed away from our room as much as we could. Beds are not very comfortable either. More>
