Fantastic all inclusive

We visited Marival and had an excellent experience. We flew in through Puerto Vallarta. First tip: try to have your transfers to the resort pre-booked because when you walk out of the luggage area you can blow through all of the people who are trying to sell you time shares and other junk. We blew through that area and it was a bit of a madhouse outside of the airport. We found our transport and rode about 20 minutes to the resort. A bellman watched our luggage as we checked in. I didn't put a credit card on file at first - but I had to go back and put a card on file before we went to the spa. There are two parts to the resort: the hotel and the residence. The residence is actually further down the beach and each room is about 1,400 square feet with an infinity pool over the side. The residence guests have different colored wristbands and special areas on the beach with different food stations closer to the beachfront. We weren't in the residence. The people who aren't in the residence are either booked into the main hotel (lots of ocean/pool views) or into the rooms in the outer areas of the property. The outer rooms have less of a view but they are very large with many rooms - 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, etc. When we arrived we grabbed a bite to eat at the buffet. It had mostly American comfort foods that my daughter really liked - pizza on a wood fire grill, hamburgers and hotdogs made to order, fries, Mac and cheese, rice, fajita meat, chicken, ice cream, fruit, etc. That smaller buffet was outside so it provided easy access when you were in the pool or at the beach. The resort had 3 speciality restaurants: 1. Rodizio- We were offered a sampling of over 10 different meats cut to your liking at your table and all of the sides served buffet style. The meats included rabbit, beef filet, ribs, and veal. We saw a vegetarian at another table. The staff actually got her a menu from another restaurant on property and tried their best to make her feel comfortable. The side items and salad bar were fantastic! 2. Italian- So we tested the all-you-can-eat and went cruise ship crazy ordering here. The staff was excellent! We asked for balsamic vinegar and they got it for us right away. Between the 8 of us at the table we had everything on the menu. Someone in our group didn't like his lamb and they brought him a brand new meal. 3. Mediterranean - we had to skip this restaurant because we went on a sunset dinner cruise. We learned that the busiest time of year at the resort was the two weeks before Easter - we will be avoiding those dates! The staff was great but, unlike many other resorts have visited the staff rarely made eye contact and did not speak until spoken to. We didn't take pesos on our trip. The ATM in the lobby dispenses dollars then the front desk will exchange them. But...make sure to ask the desk when you can exchange currency because we were told once that we needed to come back a bit later. You need your passport to exchange currency. Nearly every vendor on the property took dollars but a few activities (mostly for kids) required pesos. The exchange rate was fair. Tip: every afternoon one of the bartenders pushed a small silver cart around the pools. He muddled and mixed fresh fruit with top-shelf liquor and it was amazing!! We followed him all over the resort - the drinks were fantastic. The first night we were there a big sea turtle climbed onto the beach and laid eggs. Another nest hatched while we were there too. We saw stingrays jumping in the waves and either dolphins or whales in the distance. Parasailing was available for an additional charge from local vendors. We checked body boards from the hut on the beach and surfed the waves. The beaches were fantastic and all pools and the ocean were warm enough to swim in easily. If you go eat in the specialty restaurants and drink the green juice at the breakfast buffet.

Overall a great stay

We stayed for 1 week in January 2017 The food was excellent and there was lots of selection at the buffets The bartenders were good and were happy to use premium liquor if you asked Staff were helpful and friendly Mexican night under the stars and Mariachi band were top notch The grounds were beautiful and well maintained Pools were kept clean and the beach was lovely It is a convenient location close to Bucerias and a short cab ride to Sayulita, and easy to get to downtown PV I had a massage at the spa (neck and shoulders) and it was quite good (deep tissue) Fresh soda and bottled water in the fridge when room was cleaned excellent wifi Some cons: -the timeshare sales are aggressive -1 shower did not work in our suite -2 beds in one room so my MIL had to sleep in the living room on the couch -same vendors at the resort all week -many people saved chairs on the beach or by the pool with their towels but never showed up to claim them, making whole areas taken up by empty towel covered seats. Bottom line - people should not be able to save priority seats unless they are going to use them. -no eating in pool rule not enforced

The Best!!!

I loved the Marival resort. I met Ismael from Animacion (entertainment staff) and he was so nice to me. He danced with me in my wheelchair, took me swimming, gave me a flower and made me feel so welcome. There was lots of fun activities for me. Lots of pools to swim in and the food was good. Thank you Ismael for making my first trip to Mexico so great!

We spent three weekdays here, Mon-Thurs and had a wonderful time. From the guests to the staff, they were all friendly. We spent our days at the pool and our nights at the disco. We had the best time at the disco. The bartenders were great; good service, hilarious, and showed us a good time. Hugo Palomar and Jorge were the best, thank you guys. If you're looking for some good music, good drinks, and a great time visit DJ Irvin and the bartenders at the Cesar Club!

As good as usual

We spent new year at Vallarta and once again we returned to Marival. Might have been afraid of being disappointed but not at all. We were thrilled to see a bunch of familiar faces through out the hotel, same bellboys, front desk, waitresses and waiters, even the towel guy was the same than the first time. Them all are friendly and take pride of their work. The rooms are very comfy. We stayed in the grand side and had beautiful ocean and pool view from our balcony. The food is very tasty and the variety is amazing. It's truly fantastic the amount of entertainment, food and drink!! Not to mention that the kids had a blast in the pools. Our 5 year old loved the kids pool and the other two loved the big pool. We just loved the sun and the friendly staff as usual We will for sure keep coming back. Thanks guys for the great vacation!
