13 years and counting!

We came to Nuevo Vallarta in 2005 for the first time after trying numerous other places and resorts. Part of the initial attraction was direct plane connections from Edmonton to PVR. When travelling with 5 small children that is a big plus. A 15 minute cab fare from the airport is also easy on the wallet and welcomed after a 4 + hour flight. We have returned to Marival every year since. Our kids have since grown up and still want to join us for our annual visit. While it is an obvious choice for young families our older children have made lasting friendships with many of the staff. For my wife and I we appreciate the personal attention we receive right down to the surprise birthday cake in our room upon arrival for our twin's birthday! Our oldest daughter is planning her wedding at the Resort later this year. When she got engaged (where else but at The Marival) many of the staff were genuinely excited for us. We have received many offers of help from staff. It feels like we are part of a big family. Over the years we have encouraged many of our friends to stay at Marival. Many of them now come on their own and have made new life long friends as well. We are already looking forward to our next vacation at Marival.

The resort was quite good for our family. Food was good with lots of options for families. Beach is good, a few kids areas plus the play are. Resort was clean. Two bedroom suite was amazing for our family of 5 + nephew. Shows were decent to good. Teens area was also good for my sisters family. Check in was a mess, tried to recharge me on my upgraded room. Seemed to have no clue in general. Pre booked my suppers as directed, never got a response, was told they were back logged on reservations due to illness of the normal person, I did get my reservations though. Really could use some more real fruit in drinks, too much sugary junk, so stuck mostly to beer. Resort was a little large for my taste. Overall good for the price and value.

You will never be sorry when you come to Marival Resort & Suite or The Residences! We come for the most part twice a year and have been an owner since 2009.We Love It! And the workers there!! It's like going home and seeing your family. If you have children they have a wonderful children's department and they are in safe hands with the workers - they won't want to come back to you. There food is excellent at both places. I can't say enough GOOD things about it. Yes, there have been times that I've complained about things BUT we always come back and we could exchange and go elsewhere with RCI but we don't - we love Nuevo Vallarta - enjoy visiting Puerto Vallarta and feel safe enough to walk and ride bikes. Come and try this beautiful resort and the wonderful people that run it!

Our Second Home!

Ok grab a coffee and sit back. This is a bit long but informative. My wife and I have made this Canadian owned resort our second home for the past 16 years. We find it to be well organized and staffed by professional people, like Resort Manager Daphne Fernandez. If you have never been to Marival it is a very clean property with well manicured grounds decorated with a wide variety of flowering plants and shrubs. The resort is not large by comparison to others on the beach so you get the more personal touch and feel. Marival’s commitment to on-going improvements, to all of their properties, clearly demonstrates why this resort remains the vacation destination of choice for thousands of families, couples and guests each year. Some things we noticed this year. - La Bamba (outdoor restaurant close to water). It was great to see the use of the cast iron hot plates for the evening meals to keep the food hot. This was a complaint from last year that Marival listen to and resolved, so well done! The resort also hired a professional bird handler with a Hawk to keep the pesky birds away during the daytime meals. Just the mere presence of the Hawk does the job! Ingenious! Well done. -Vast improvements to WiFi signal over last year. Still not perfect but greatly improved. - Identifying staff trainees with a button is an excellent way to let guests know that “this” server may not be as quick as the other staff. So give them a break please! -The room renovations continue with a more upscale luxury feel. (Keep in mind not all rooms have been renovated but you can’t just shut down a resort to do this. It takes time but it is happening.) -The cuisine at all of Marival’s restaurants continues to have an ever changing variety with a quality that is always an enjoyable tasting experience! Now we have read some reviews where people have complained about the food. Ok…this gets under my skin so bear with me for a moment….To these people we say... seriously get your taste buds checked! There are 5 a la carte restaurants to choose from. With approximately 497 rooms and anywhere between 2-4 people per room you’re looking at feeding close to 1,500 people. Let’s see if you can get it right every time. So if one of your meals didn’t measure up ….I guess that’s it then…the food is crap in your opinion?? Marival’s talented chefs and cooks do an absolutely amazing job and they put a lot of personal pride in what they serve. Remember, you’re not at home, It is going to taste different! So if you didn’t like something…try something else!!! Be realistic, not everything is going to be "perfect" all the time. That's called life and it happens everywhere even from where YOU come from! We come for 6 weeks at a time and wouldn't return here year after year if the food was bad!! (Sorry but these “quick to judge” people irritate me!) While I’m at it... here is a quick note on “guest’s behavior while on vacation” for some of you….and you know who you are! Other guests, restaurant and bar staff are NOT YOUR PERSONAL BABYSITTERS!! Be a parent and look after your own children and YES discipline them! Restaurants and bar areas are not a playground for your kids to run around. The resort staff cannot, should not, be responsible to run after your kids and then be expected to deliver quick and efficient service to your table. To these irresponsible parents I say take control of your children and teach them “some manners” before coming here. That way we and the rest of Marival’s guests can enjoy an evening out and the resort staff can do their jobs safely. It is unfortunate but these people appear in all places of social outings and are not common to just resorts. We've also seen how some guests treat the staff here. Disgraceful, disrespectful and belligerent. These words do not come close to describing these "Entitled"… Guests. If you have a complaint you don't fix it by yelling, screaming and cursing the staff. If your aim is to try to make the staff look like the idiots… YOU failed. The only one yelling and screaming and making a “Donkey” out of him/herself in front of the rest of us..is you! Here’s an idea… Therapy .... look up the word and get some! Ok Rant over..let’s continue. Some things we would like to see change; -Some chairs in Volare lounge are in need of replacement. The seat cushion fix is a great idea to add life to them but the wicker arms, backs and feet are fraying. Remember first impressions for new comers are lasting ones if you want them to return. -The animation staff, after the main shows are over, are nowhere to be seen. They used to be so entertaining in Volare lounge with Crazy contests and hosting Karaoke. These were very popular events and drew big crowds. Sad to see this is no longer occurring. -Ceasar’s night club, aka the disco, has music that sounds very repetitive. It is time to get rid of the Disco image and call it an after hours nightclub. Adding more English content with a current mix of country, rock and classic rock would be a better fit for this after hours lounge. The karaoke has moved to here as well but the dimly lit lounge just doesn’t draw people to listen. Too bad as Karaoke was very popular when it was held in the Volaré lounge. On a brighter note here are some people you should get to know once you arrive. Any of the Bell boys! However, these next guys stand out the most to us, George, Pedro and Bell Captain Tino. If you need to know anything just ask these guys! They have a wealth of knowledge of the resort and surrounding areas and are always willing to give you a hand with any of your needs. Bar waitress Judith will take very good care of you and will happily assist you with your Español if she has a free moment. Bar waitress Josefina and bartender Cristobal at the Volaré lounge: A great team with an amazing memory and humor. Cristobal goes the extra distance to ensure your special drink requests are looked after. (Love these guys) Bar waitresses Dalia and bartender Hugo in the Grand Lounge will ensure that thirsty people don't go thirsty for long. Restaurant captains Luigi, (Amalfi/Mai Tai) - Cristhian, (La Pergola) Ezequiel, (Las Palomas/Mai Tai). These guys are always Professional, Courteous, fun and know their wines very well. Waiter Armando at Mai Tai has a smile that’s just waiting for you to return! More amazing people, hostesses Daniella and Irisol, waitresses Jackie, Mary, Two amazing cooks at Casa Bella, Carmen and Irma! These are just a few of the many staff that contributes to making Marival what it is..... a destination home away from home, where relaxation and great memories are waiting for you!

**Great Stay, Awesome Resort**

It was our first time staying at Marival Resorts and we stayed with friends that were gold members so we had our own area of the beach and could eat at as many restaurants as we wanted. The Mai Tai and La Pergola were our favorite places to eat. Jackie was the an amazing waitress at the Mai Tai, her personality and friendliness made you want to go back everyday! Mary and Gureimero at La Pergola were very good as well. We also enjoyed the Martini Bar with Judith as our waitress, she was very nice and friendly and the piano player was awesome as well, I think we went 3 times when we were there. It was a great place to have a night cap. We also eat at the Mexican Restaurant and Alonso was our waiter and he was amazing!!! He was very friendly and very nice. He did the best Café Mexicano at the resort. I would also like to mention that I am vegan and they had options for my diet and if there wasn't something on the money they were very helpful on preparing something for me anyways. Our room was nice, we were told before we were getting a renovated room but we didn't which was fine but a little upsetting but still a great stay. My only downfall to the resort was the birds at were in the cages in the parking lot of the resort, they seemed very depressed, I feel like they should be sent to a sanctuary. Having them were the cars come in a out breathing in all the fumes it doesn't seem fair to them. I also did not like the guy walking around with the falcon, it seems super unfair for a wild bird to be tide down to this guy just so he can make money off the pictures.
