BEST HOLIDAY!

This is my 4th time visiting Sian Kaan and I can confirm I will be coming back for a 5th time :) The holiday was absolutely fantastic. From the food to the drinks to the weather it really didn't disappoint. The staff work incredibly hard but most particular I would like to mention the animation team, Osmar, Chuk, Delmar, Jose, Diego & Ricardo. These guys made our holiday, constantly keeping us entertained from AM to PM. Also a massive thank you to our butler Ricardo, he truly was a service with a smile and he's a credit to your company. Roll on next year! :)

Just a quick review to say that we had a fantastic week here and are so happy that this was where we tied the knot. Everything went perfectly for our ceremony and reception, food was incredible, try the à la cartes, enjoy the beautiful beach and the quiet and lush surrounds of your own resort in paradise, take a trip into town, eat a lot of guacamole... HOWEVER, a note for brides: MAKE SURE YOU GO FOR YOUR MAKEUP AND HAIR TRIAL. Really had no impact on how our day went... but it was also hilariously bad lol, my hair was crunchy ringlettes instead of beachy waves and my face was orange. My fault for not going for the trial; I was just honestly having too good of a time :)

Definitely not 5 star worthy - small things done well count enormously

Booked with TU I and Arrived on 18 Sep via private xfr which was great as anyone who has done the loop the loop thing off the main highway doing several drop offs will know. Checking in and buggy to room was ok but not the warm welcome we had from 3 other holiday hotels in Mexico. Room was basic by comparison to others with shortage of hangers and only 2 drawers in bedside tables. Overall not enough facilities to store clothes well. Main negative points: - Never ever have we had to book meals at a la cartes so far in advance just to get a chance to eat there. By day 3 I'd booked all bar 2 nights dinners - one restaurant no spaces at all for 8 nights but went to guest services who booked it and was told not all spaces to on the app...uh? Alux was closed a few nights virtually alternating between Maiko which was closed 5/14 nights. Not good when these are the only 2 adults only a la cartes this side. Service in the a la cartes was generally but not always good. We rarely eat fish so seafood one not tried but found the menus at all the a la cartes (except Brazillian) had loads of fish dishes and in some only one meat option if, like us, you can't take much garlic. Found it strange that we often just got the meat with a sauce and little or no veg so started asking for some. Never met or heard from our concierge and even asked him to make contact as we learned from other guests that some had theirs offer to make restaurant bookings. We'd have liked ours to make sure we always had at least 2 large bottles of water and some milk in our room as the mini-bar person was not replacing what we used. We ended up asking for large bottles of water and some milk at the Jacuzzi pool and lobby bar and carrying them to our top floor room. We called reception 3 times to have some delivered and raised this at least 3/4 times with guest services. Midway thru week 2 we raised this with the TUI rep to no avail. The TUI website for this hotel and the it's description of the use of facilit

Our second visit to this hotel mainly for the value for money when compared to European venues. We travelled with TUI on the dreamliner which made the long flight tolerable - the individual taxi from airport to hotel included in the package was really appreciated. We had a standard "Junior Suite" which is just a basic room with a couple of chairs plus a balcony - definitely not luxury. The large shower was awful with virtually no water pressure & a wait of some minutes before hot water flowed. Wifi was included & was usable but very slow. The pools were good with excellent drinks service to your sun bed but beware - this is where you will accumulate many annoying insect bites. We therefore spent most of our leisure time at the beach via the excellent trolley service.Staff worked continuously to keep the beach clear of seaweed. The main buffet was vast with an incredible choice , most of which was well cooked & presented , however , some was really poor being badly undercooked - beware green beans & carrots - even when my wife pointed out that they were inedible & they were removed from the buffet, they were back shortly afterwards. Tempura batter was not the light crispy delight that it should be but more like the offering from the local chip shop often undercooked & soggy. Having said that most people seemed happy with the food. We did try some of the A La Carte restaurants but found them to be more style over substance with some really nice dishes but some inedible - two occasions we left to eat at the buffet after being served food that we could not eat (rack of lamb that was impervious to the attentions of my knife - and the steak knife that was brought out - and my wife's well done salmon steak that was completely raw in the middle) Entertainment was a bit repetitive - as was the food in the buffet by the second week but all in all we enjoyed the sun even with the occasional short lived cloudburst & the service the staff provided which was probably as good as it can be. However, even with the huge choice of dishes at the buffet & the excellent Cenote snack bar we have decided that we have outgrown the hotplate holiday.

A Quality Hotel let down by Poor Management - Appalling Internet and Muddled Concepts

Well... Where to start? The beginning is usually a good place. I am actually writing this just over one week into my stay (always dangerous!) but feel the need to express myself. Upon arrival we were welcomed by the Mexico weather lashing it down. Not the Hotel's fault for sure. However - seeing people wearing "Happiness" Shirts playing dodgy music and playing darts felt more like an arrival at Butlin's rather than a 5 star luxury hotel... Things went from bad to worse. I had brought my laptop and iPhone XS Max and NEITHER could access the internet - this saga has gone on throughout the whole week despite paying over $69 US for the "super fast internet" which clocked speeds of less than 0.5mbps. A total and utter DISGRACE. I have even expended £100 on my EE contract and fully intend to sue TUI upon arrival to the UK. Then came "sqeaking bed gate". The rooms bed is a wreck and the hotel admit it - but have done nothing about it (when I say nothing - it was supposed to be repaired spanning a period of 48 hours over 3 occasions - it hasn't and we have totally given up all hope). The hotel's resolution? An offer of a measly $130 after an offer of Mexican party tickets, Unbelievable. Luxury? I don't think. The singing in the Lobby is fine if your feeling somewhat suicidal - depressing renditions of 80s music is more reminiscent of Margarita Pracatan from Clive James rather than a luxury resort. I have been fortunate to travel the world and see the most amazing live acts - no such thing here I am afraid. As a diabetic I would have hoped for a varied range of sugar free drinks. Water, Tea, Coffee, and Diet Coke, That's your lot - so Diabetics beware. Special mentions should go to Frida, Daniel, Christian and Lucia. They have all tried their absolute best to persuade Management to resolve the issues we have faced - but regrettably have failed to achieve an outcome that recognises the distress that was caused by being out of our room for 2 days and having expended over £170 on internet access that didn't happen... Worse still - during the day we were at the infinity pool in the adults only section. I managed to locate a section where I achieved some wifi access where an understanding waiter (David) brought me a glass of water whilst I worked. Lovely, or so I thought... until this obnoxious, rude, arrogant excuse of a woman demanded I leave as it wasn't open for another 20 minutes. After I refused she stated she would call security, which I actively encouraged her to do. Needless to say, they never arrived - and had they done so I would have taken great delight in publishing the video I was about to record of the whole incident, I didn't know what was more upsetting - stealing my money and forcing me to pay £100 for UK wifi provision or demanding I leave a quiet area where I was merely working and being treated as a criminal - not a guest. Disgraceful. The really upsetting thing about this review is that they could have avoided all of the above and easily obtained the additional 3 stars to achieve a 5 star review from me. However that would be a huge disservice to the hotels in Barbados, Maldives and other parts of the world I have travelled to that achieved those ratings. The management clearly have little or no concept of the principal that the customer is always right. Until that changes I imagine others who are a little more discerning and appreciate a gentle and proactive management approach will avoid this hotel - leaving those who are more easily pleased to enjoy its 'one size fits all' approach to customer service. A real shame :-( If only they re-thought their approach they could have had a regular customer for life... :-( The Bahia Principe Sian Kaan's loss is another hotel's gain I guess...
