This is the third time I’ve stayed at Bahia Sian Ka’an. I’ve loved every experience! The staff is friendly and the service is unmatched. It’s a beautiful and safe resort! I can’t wait for my next trip there.

Great Resort - but off the beach

I went to this resort in Feb 2017 with my mom as a mom/daughter trip! We stayed in a standard room which was very comfortable! When we arrived, the bed had a VERY loud squeak that would happen basically any time you moved. We asked for it to be fixed and it was promptly fixed by the next day. The food is average/above average for an all inclusive! The drinks are FANTASTIC! The one thing that I would note is that this resort is not directly on the beach. It is across the road from the beach and the hotel provides a shuttle to it's three other locations that are on the beach (maybe a 5 minute shuttle ride). This hotel potentially needs more seating around the pool area in order to accommodate for the lack of beach. The one area that I would DEFINITELY suggest that everyone check out is the adult only pool at the Akumal hotel! It is beautiful and right off the beach. Access is only allowed to adults staying at Akumal or Sian Ka'an.

I'd like to give it four stars, but I just can't

Stayed for a week at this resort with a friend. We were at the resort for a friends wedding. There were nice things and not so nice things about this place. I'm going to try and be as fair as possible, but to me, this resort is trying really hard for five stars, but they aren't there yet. Biggest issue: bugs. Specifically, spiders and mosquitoes. They were everywhere. I guess this comes with being in the jungle and not on the beach. Every day (except one), there was a spider or some other creepy crawly (cockroach, centipede, millipede) in the room. The first night I called for help, but after that, we just killed them ourselves. Gross. The mosquitoes are awful, like small torpedoes, and silent. By the time you notice, it's too late. There were a few nights I had to go stand in the pool before bed, my feet and ankles were so swollen and sore from the bites. Really awful. Secondary issues: Cleanliness. Every room has a patio. Not that you would want to go out there, there's so many mosquitoes and ants, but even if you did, there were bird and tree droppings all over the patio and chairs, they obviously don't even try to keep that area clean. In the room, sometimes it seemed like the staff weren't paying any attention. Twice, we left for the day, with a insect corpse on the floor, and you'd come back after the room was done, and it was still there. The pool deck and chairs were also very littered with bird and tree droppings. You always had to watch where you walked and sat to make sure there wasn't something squishy or poopy already there. Some other things. This part of the resort is across the highway from the beach and other facilities. So to get there, you have to take this golf-cart trolley thing that drives people all around to the various hotels and such. It works fine as long as you don't have a timeline to be somewhere, for example, the other 9 A la Carte restaurants are all across the highway, so you'd best be sure you plan for the transit time. And don't bother doing your hair, these are all open, so it's a big wind tunnel while you go. The Wifi at Sian Kaan was good, but once you crossed over to the other side, it all went to hell with so many people trying to be on. The towels were a pain in the butt. Our room was at one end of the resort, the towels were at the other. It's about a 15 minute walk over there. Not a huge deal, but you don't want to walk over there everyday, and I really don't understand why they don't have a towel exchange at the pool bar on that end of the resort. Some things I liked: The staff were great. Very helpful and polite. If you had a problem, they fixed it. The buffet was the best food on the resort, which I found odd, but there it is. I like that they don't give out straws, that's awesome!

My faith in Mexican hotels has been restored thanks :)

After the usual flight we were picked up by a private car, great if like us your knackered and just want to enjoy your own company and that of your partner. Arrived to a welcoming foyer/ reception were we were checked in and given one of the many alcoholic beverages of the holiday and then shown to a our large, clean, airy and bright room. Within seconds of settling in we met our butler Christian who was polite, friendly and informative to our many questions we had, re- booking restaurants, bars and beach ( we are easily pleased because that's all we need apart from the weather of course lol ). We arrived at the foyer bar shortly after and was greeted by the crew as we fondly referred them as. Introducing ; in no particular order, Ana who is kind and thoughtful, Randy who is full of smiles and always gave us a great welcome, Jhovany cheeky chappy with a heart of gold and Ismal who like his colleagues only cares about holiday makers enjoying themselves. The food was amazing no matter when you order and the beach is clean and well positioned. Thanks to all of you for a great holiday we enjoyed ourselves so much we will be back in September :)

Another perfect fortnight

This was our second visit and it still a fabulous place to come. The food is second to none and the service is very good. The holiday started well but was interrupted by four and a half days of rain. The staff did there best but were up against it keeping everyone happy. What I can say is they all kept smiling and being helpful and pleasant. When the weather broke and the sunshine came back we spent most of our time on the beach, which was well marshalled so you always could find a sun bed . The bar beach service was excellent [ Martha in particular] five star. There was a problem with seaweed but it was well managed. All in all the staff and the good food makes it very good value for money holiday.
