The Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Green resort is big, beautiful and lot's of fun. My fiance and I stayed there the week of June 2nd to June 9th and we had such a great time. Let's start from the beginning: Getting to the resort from the airport is quick and easy roughly 25 minute drive from the airport. Once you arrive they drop you off at the Check-Out Lobby counter where you wait for a trolley to pick you up and drive you the Check-In Lobby. Upon arrival at the Ambar Green lobby for check-in you are greeted with warm smiles and a lovely welcome drink. You are told to have a seat while they check you in. A staff member gives you a map and quick rundown about the resort. Afterwards they hand you your key cards and off you go to your room by trolley. The rooms are big, one of the biggest rooms I have ever stayed in, King size bed, lounge area, balcony, big bathroom and a mini bar that is stocked daily. The maid was very kind and did an awesome job cleaning our room everyday. The best buildings to be in are 84, 83, 82 or 81 as they are pool view and central to everything. The resort is very big so you can either walk around or grab a trolley which run about every 3-5 minutes. The privilege staff members try to sell you excursions and upgrade your package but we just said no thank you and moved on. The food and drinks were very good. The Ambar green buffet was closed for renos so we ate at the Ambar blue buffet and at the restaurant near the pool. Lunch time there is bbq and sushi at the pool. The sushi is delicious and the bbq very tasty. We did a few A-La carte restaurants. Los Corales was my favourite and my fiance really liked the Italian, Bella Italia at the Esmeralda resort. We also both really enjoyed the Don Pablos gourmet in the Ambar Blue. The beach was nice except for the seaweed but the staff did an awesome job cleaning it everyday. The Ambar Green also has a section on the beach specifically for you, so no kids in the area and it wasn't too hard to find a chair. The buffet at the beach was also very good. There are a few other bahia principe resorts on the property which you can go to except for Fantasia. The Bavaro has nightly entertainment and shows and is a quick 2 minute walk from the ambar green. There is also a Village in the where you can find a sports bar, club, and little shops for souvenirs. We also bought an excursion from our airline rep to Saona Island which was beautiful. It's an all day trip to a gorgeous pool area in the middle of the ocean where the water is waist deep and then they take you to Saona Island for a few hours where lunch is provided. Afterwards you take a catamaran back which was really fun. The staff at the ambar green are very friendly and always willing to help. Jose at the lobby was very helpful and Zulenny who works at the lobby bar and pool bar was amazing, she is a gem! Overall, our trip was fantastic and we would definitely be returning one day!

Another great stay

We stayed at this resort before in the past and decided to return. It's still a great place. Beautiful resort from the grounds and the rooms as well as the food and drinks. Very nice place. Yes there is a lot of seeweed right now, but the staff is working hard early early morning till late night picking it up. This resort is top notch in my book, the staff, everything was great the weather etc. Iam a privilege club member and I was treated very well. The privilege club is awesome, we love it. Keep up the great work Bahia Principe.

Wonderful Anniversary trip!!!

My Husband and I had a wonderful time at this resort. We have visited their location in Riviera Maya, Mexico, and we love this brand!!! Pros: Checking in is a breeze, just make sure your transportation knows which lobby to drop you off at. Basilio checked us in, and he was wonderful. He also set up reservations at different restaurants for us. Throughout our stay he checked in with us at the pool, or wherever we were on the resort, he was so sweet! There is ALWAYS something to do. The entertainment team is incredible, they are always smiling and always upbeat. The Ambar Green pool had a wonderful team. We particularly enjoyed Willie, he was a blast. At night, they also had live music and dancing with the entertainment team at the Lobby end of the pool, we really enjoyed that.At the beach, there is also an entertainment team doing stretching and various activities. There are also many shows all over the resort, along with a shopping area called the Village. this is also where the casino and nightclub are located. The pool at Ambar Green was our personal favorite, the music is great, the pool is very clean and comfortable temperature. The Bar tenders were AMAZING!! Joaquin was our favorite, ask for Joaquin's purple surprise :) They also Grill by the pool around lunchtime, and that food was always delicious. They also make fresh Sushi at the bar daily, that was also very good. The Grounds are beautiful, everywhere you look is stunning and very clean. The walk to the beach is not horribly far from Green (about 6 - 8 minutes depending where your room is). On this walk you can see a small swampy area with ducks and wildlife which is pretty cool. Over-all, the staff were some of the nicest people we have ever had the pleasure of being around, we loved them very much!!!! Cons: This resort is HUGE, but not to worry, the golf carts are constantly driving around to take you wherever you want to go. the drivers are very friendly!! there are also maps and waiting stations set up all over the resort, it can take a day or so to get your bearings, but it is manageable. The food at the Buffet restaurants is not the best, not bad, but underwhelming. I heard the A la Carte restaurants are good, but my Husband forgot long pants, so we were not able to go. The food was not enough to bring my score down though, this place is still wonderful, and we would definitely return!!

You get what you pay for!

BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS IN THE POOL AREA OF AMBAR GREEN! This is our last day at this resort and I thank God for that! It saddens me that I’m ready to be home rather than on vacation. The hotel chose the wrong tile to put around the pool area and people are constantly slipping and falling. My travel companion slipped and fell and broke her arm. The hotel staff is more concerned with covering themselves with their insurance company than they are with the well being of their guests! Before they ever helped her up, they were moving the “Slippery When Wet” sign near where she fell and taking photographs. It is the wrong type of tile to have as a walking surface in an area that is constantly wet. In fact, I’ve noticed that in the newer properties, they chose a less slippery unglazed tile as the walking surface around the pool areas! Ambar Blue is currently under construction and that is great! However, the constant movement of construction vehicles past our room from very early in the morning until late in the evening makes it impossible to rest easy in the room. This construction traffic is also ruining the road that is being used to move these heavy trucks on. The hotel itself appears to becoming rundown. It seems there is very little concern of the appearance of the hotel. There are missing roof tiles, chipping paint on may balconies, and chipping and missing paint all around the pool area of Ambar Green. You don’t see these types of cosmetic issues in high end resorts. The dining experiences are mediocre. The better restaurants that are available are booked up extremely early and they are so overbooked that they are almost impossible to get into more than once. The food is not extremely well done but what can you expect at an all-inclusive? Do not fall for their “CONGRATULATIONS YOU’VE WON” flyer that will be delivered under your door one evening. It’s an RCI timeshare pitch and the “prizes” are crap! I’ve set through numerous timeshare pitches and this by far is the worst compensation I’ve ever received. The television reception is horrible. So, if you’re hoping to wind down with your favorite shows before going to bed you may as well forget that. The television will be static and you’ll be lucky if it’s even operational. The bed is horribly stiff and the pillows are complete crap. If you must stay here, bring your own pillow! The air conditioning in the room is not the best. The only thing that makes it mediocre is that it is cooler than outside! Although it is not anyone’s fault, the tremendous amount of seaweed at the beach made our one and only trip to the beach a horrible reminder that we chose the wrong place to travel. We love the beach and this one was horrible due to the amount of seaweed that is constantly coming in. There are workers constantly working throughout the day to clean it up, but they don’t make any headway in staying ahead of it.
