I do like this hotel. The staff are so kind and the service in the room was topnotch. Our room was clean as were the sheets/bedding. The TV was fine. The view was outstanding. When you check in, they do ask for a security deposit for the kitchen utensils and pots/pans and, I think, the remote for the TV. That doesn't bother me a bit. I like how they keep an eye on how their kitchens are stocked. They give your deposit back easily and quickly, if nothing is missing. The pool area is beautiful and there was always a place to sit by the pool or out on the beach without playing those towel games of reserving chairs/loungers. The music is loud around the pool but it doesn't start until around 12:30 or so in the afternoon. It stops around 5:00. The "only" negative I can give this hotel is if "hot" or even "warm" water for your showers is a must, this might not be the hotel for you. We had two bathrooms, and both bathrooms had very low water pressure to where you could "barely" get the shampoo out of your hair, if you're a girl with shoulder length hair or longer. The temperature of the water was lukewarm at best. We stayed when the temps were a little cooler outside and so I really wanted a nice warm/hot shower in the mornings, but had to suffer through lukewarm to cool showers. Not comfortable at all. I did tell the front desk four or five times, and they said they would have somebody come and fix it, but it never got fixed and I gave up be the constant complainer. But we didn't let this ruin our trip by any means. Just know that this hotel's water pressure isn't very good, and the water temps for showers are warm to cool. Everything else about the hotel was "perfect."

Luna Palace has fewer rooms than most beach front resorts so the palapas and pool were never crowded - we could always find open lounge chairs. You do have to turn in a card for towels though and wear a wrist band. There is no proactive pool side drink or food service but you can buy from the sufficient swim-up pool-bar with blended drinks for only $4 (80 pesos). The indoor restaurant with a few plastic tables by the pool was not appealing enough to entice us to try it, but there are many other good restaurants within walking distance. Luna is located about 1.5 miles from the busy and touristy Golden Zone. Room 3007 included an efficiency kitchen with a good size fridge and freezer. They had to unlock and take inventory of the cabinets - a couple pots, pans, glasses, and plates along with a large microwave. Room 3007 had two full size beds. The bathroom included soap and shampoo only. A hot shower is hard to come by - guessing water is heated by the sun. Bonus: no need to pay more for an ocean view - every room has an ocean view and a small walk-out patio/balcony with two chairs and a table. Night time was pretty quiet unless there was an event with live music at the restaurant banquet room. Bring ear plugs in case. WiFi in room 3007 is sketchy. Better at the pool. Our front door lock ran out of power and they responded fairly quickly to replace the batteries. Our safe also ran out of batteries during our stay. The rooms are spacious and clean but a bit run down - rusty fixtures and peeling paint. It’s not fancy but we would definitely return to avoid the crowds at other large resorts. The clientele and service were tranquil(o).

I believe this is the smallest and oldest of the four Palace hotels in the Golden Zone and I have to say we enjoyed everything about this hotel; very clean and amazing staff, it was quiet day and night with the exception of lovely weddings, simple with all the amenities, full service kitchen, table and chairs, new and very comfortable beds with crisp linen, large shower, sink outside so it was very practical ,nice decore, all balconies have ocean /pool view, great pool, excellent swim area at one end for tots, watertfalls and slides for all ages, swim up bar and the on site restaurant had the best chili reyenos I've ever had. Our beach area seemed more protected that most others. It was nice to have access to the three sister hotels but we really didn't want for anything. For certain, I will return to Luna Palace.

Nice pool, loud music, clean and neat. Service was good and plenty of loud Mexican music. You can get a real feel of Mazatlan at this resort. Don't expect to get an afternoon nap, lots of activities going on keeping you and your family busy.

Do not stay at this hotel!

We recently went to Mazatlan for a 10-day holiday and unfortunately stayed at this hotel. The desk staff did accommodate our request for a room on the 8th floor with an ocean view, which was great. Another positive was the cleaning and restaurant staff who always tried to do their best. However, this hotel is in bad need of renovation and we felt insecure because the entry door lock was flimsy and we could see into the suite from the exterior. The wood was also eroding on one of the interior doors. The hotel advertises premium quality TV chanels but this was false. There was a very limited selction of channels and the only real nnews channel was CNN but we could not listen to it due to continuous buzzing noise. Every day the desk staff promised to deal with the problem but nothing happened. A much bigger issue was the sanitary condition of the room, which had nothing to do with the excellent housekeeper. We saw some large cockroaches around the entry door and the mattress was very old and dirty. The hotel had placed a foam layer on top to try to hide the filth. The pillows were old and lumpy. The sheets were not fitted and constantly came loose. We lasted 6 nights because we liked the pool and beach area and the view from the deck. On the 6th morning, when I turned over to reach for my book, the loose sheets and covers pulled me onto the floor. I seriously banged my head on the concrete room divider and was stunned for several minutes. This was the last straw and we decided to go to a cleaner hotel. The hotel has not respected their own cancellation policy and has refused to reimburse us for the 3 nights that they owe us even though the manager came to meet with us and signed a contract that stated that we would be reimbursed within 2-3 weeks. We reported the problem to Expedia who have tried many times to contact the manager but have not been able to speak to her, apparently because she does not want to deal with the problem. We have now reported the fraud to MasterCard who will deal with it. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
