I called the hotel before arriveal so my room could be together one for husband baby and myself and another for my teen daughters but they gave rooms in separate floor which I didn't feel comfortable and only rooms available was a suite so my girls had to sleep in the living room which Is much cheaper than 2 separate room ...cribs are not free as prompted they charge per night $100 peso Per day room was not clean upon arrival...and maid service was late we would go out during the day and would arrive around 3pm and room was not box or tv romotes didn't work... bedroom bathroom smelled like urine... we had a gorgeous view room staff was friendly could've been great but was not...I would've been happy with a clean room but it wasn't clean until late and my 1 year old goes to sleep around 7pm rooms where clean around 3 so overall was not happy. Will not recommend unless people don't care about cleanliness but to me its very important.

quiet, and peaceful, good kitchenette

We stayed here at Luna Palace for a week before trying out 2 more expensive hotels. One real nice thing about Luna, was the kitchen was fully stocked, which was what we needed as this time we did not go to an all inclusive hotel. We saved $$$, which we were able to put into other events. The hotel, was clean, the front desk people were very helpful, and always had one person on staff who could speak decent english. The room was comfortable, we stayed on the 8th floor, and loved the view of the pool and beach. The hotel is located near the end of a beach strip, so you don't get many hawkers or crowds like closer to the heart of Zona Dorado. The city buses make this a great stop, and the traffic noise is almost none existent the way the hotel is designed. After we had left the hotel to change to another I had left a small item behind, that had some value to me. I contacted the hotel staff, and 2 days later when I went back to the front desk here was my item of value. So they get top marks from me, see you next year !

This was our first trip to Mazatlan and I don't think it will be the last. Our room was in a corner stack and so a little pie shaped. It seemed very big to me. It had two double beds, a table and chairs, a TV, kitchen complete with full size fridge, hot plate, microwave, and coffee machine. The locked cupboard also contained a toaster, four each of dishes, shallow bowls, side plates, cups, glasses, a set of utensils - no wine bottle opener. The bathroom had a separate toilet and very large walk in shower. Amenities were provided. We had a nice deck with two chairs and a small table, which overlooks the pool area and ocean - very nice. Staff were lovely - our room was kept very clean and desk staff were very helpful. Yes, you had to pay in advance, yes there was a 500 pesos deposit for remote control and dishes - small potatoes. There was a safe in the room. Only negative for me was that there was quite loud music around the pool area every day from 9 to 5. Otherwise it was quite quiet. Very well situated within walking distance to bus stop, pulmonias always there and the bell man happy to get one for you. Nice taco stand next door, Oxxo shops close by. Very nice stay and we hope to go back.

An Unusual Experience

After travelling for the better part of a day, the check-in experience was indifferent and unwelcoming. The first thing we were told was we needed to provide proof of our booking. I asked whether there was a problem with the reservation? Didn’t he have it in the system? Yes, he had it on the screen in front of him, but I still needed to provide a copy of the confirmation. After looking through my phone, I asked, what if I can’t find it? Well. I’m still going to need it, he said. So that took some time, which didn’t cheer me up after 6 hours in a car. He then asked us to pay our 5-day stay in advance, and when that was done and we thought we were finished, he asked for another 500 pesos per room as a deposit against damage. Whatever. The rooms themselves have a great view facing the ocean. We got an end unit, which provided a little more room. There is a kitchenette, but there was no cutlery, cups or dishes, and all the cupboards were locked. I soon discovered this is what the 500 pesos were for. We asked for a staff member, who came promptly to unlock them, but she first took inventory of every single item, every spoon, every pot, every dish every glass. I then had to sign that the count was correct. I looked at my wife and said, who would want to steal this crappy stuff anyway? I felt there was a general culture of distrust in the hotel. At a rate equivalent to $160 Canadian (the rack rate is almost double that), there was a coffee maker but no coffee coffee. A housekeeper brought filters but she said we had to buy coffee ourselves. Good thing we both take coffee unsweetened and black because there was none of that either. If we left dirty dishes, the documentation said there would be a 60 peso charge, but there was no dish detergent or dishcloth. There was one 500ml bottle of water for two of us when we arrived, and it was not replaced throughout our stay so we had to go buy water too. The walls were barren of decor, no bathrobes, and internet service was crushingly slow at times. Not what I would expect for almost 2400 pesos per night. On the plus side, the junior suite was spacious and clean, the pool is lovely, the water was very warm and the beach inviting. There were ample deck chairs even though the hotel appeared full. We didn’t try the restaurant but the buffet looked complete and appetizing. The hotel is well situated and an easy walk to restaurants. Inexpensive local transportation is always available, and the poolside margaritas were made with fresh-squeezed limes, moderately priced and delicious. However, if there's a next time, I will stay elsewhere.

The resort is on the ocean with all rooms having an ocean view. Beds were comfortable, showers had hot water. We were provided a basket of fruit upon registering. The employees are friendly and willing to solve any issue promptly. Only negative, the kitchen cabinets were locked, and if you wanted to use the contents, a full inventory had to be conducted. We passed and purchased styrofoam cups and plates.
