We recently returned from this lovely hotel. The people at the front desk were always so helpful and cheerful. We had a room with two double beds on the second floor. The ocean view was amazing! The room was well appointed with refrigerator, safe and coffee maker. The daily coffee for the maker and water bottles were free. The air conditioning was perfectly cold. It was so hot in August that our room was wonderful when we returned each day. The room was clean and comfortable. The double beds were on the firm side and a bit smaller than other doubles I've seen. It made it cozy for my husband and I . The room was quiet most of the day and all evening. We rested quite well at this hotel. BTW, the food at the hotel was delicious. We ate there quite a few times. The activities desk had free kayaks, stand up paddle boards, snorkels, fins and bicycles to check out. They were such fun! We absolutely loved this tranquil little town and beautiful hotel. We will definitely be back. Thank you Loreto Bay for the wonderful accommodations and the professional attitudes of your workers. They were lovely people.
Charming with wonderful views and decent food.

So for those used to equating "Baja" with "Cabo", this property has probably taken some review "dings", I'm sure. I am mostly familiar with Baja California and as far south as Loreto. I have been to Cabo once (in 1989). It is a major resort destination hub, as we all know. Loreto, not so much. The government through the years keeps earmarking development dollars and the town itself has a pretty good infrastructure, is clean and reasonable sized, has good historical significance, and offers quite a few fishing, snorkeling, kayaking options. This property and the adjacent development are all targeted to American and Mexican National looking for a retirement or second vacation home or villa. This property I believe is about 15 years old and is what I call a middle-aged resort. We got a very nice clean room with a king sized bed, flat screen, wi-fi, small fridge (no longer stocked as a mini bar), really nice walk in shower, etc. with full buffet breakfast (complete with omlete station) included for 115 US a night (drive in rate - not on an internet "deal"). The use of the large pool (with swim up bar), the nice beach area and palapas and chairs, kayaks, bicycles, paddle boards were all included. Golf is extra $45 + $20 with cart summer rate (see separate review). The staff is very friendly but may be occupied at the front desk as they seem to have a lot of tasks. Be engaging on arrival and they will remember and engage. Most spoke very good English. Breakfast is served in an air-conditioned room that appears to me to once have been the main upscale restaurant at the property. The only dining option for lunch and dinner is at the pool area "al fresco" (in August, at 98 degrees, with 50% humidity). Also, the pool is not aerated, which could help keep it a few degrees cooler. All in all a good deal for the money but get in on it the next few years and check "shoulder season" rates (oct-Nov and Apri-May) to avoid the heat.

My wife and I visited for her birthday in July of 2015, and was pleasantly surprised. We visited based on a Alaska Airlines deal, and got access to a great property. The hotel beach is a nice cove that is protected, and the hotel is set up so the rooms face the ocean. The hotel staff was pleasant and accommodating, and the rooms were nice. Room service forgot our towels one day, but they promptly delivered them when we asked. The hotel is about a 15 minute cab ride (200 Pesos) to Loreto, but there are access to some small shops and food/drink within walking distance just outside of the resort. We plan on visiting again.
