Very clean, good food and drinks...
Apr 23 2019
Very clean, good food and drinks. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Free WiFi is limited to certain areas but you have the option to buy it..the purchased WiFi was ok but when moving around you had to enter in your user info each time (used the WiFi to check in back at home so if it’s not important to you then you’ll be fine) cabanas were very comfy and it was nice to have a sushi bar close to the beach...you could sit in the shade and overlook the beach. Awesome welcome party with good food and entertainment. Vacation is what you make of it! We were not VIP but didn’t really miss out...all depends on what you are looking for...resort was safe and the food was really good. You do have to book a reservation for dinner each day between 9 and 11 but the buffet is available and decent if you miss it. Spa was great and staff are very professional. Perfect getaway if you aren’t looking for anything too fancy

Friends get a way
Apr 16 2019
The hotel was nice for a short get a way, the food was less then mediocre everything else was very nice. My group is not very picky about food, but everything was very bland, we lived off the pizza the hamburgers were not even edible. We downgraded our Jr. Suite (in the outdated building) to a Superior room in the renovated buildings (5 and 6)..the room was much smaller but updated so we couldn't complain. You need to reserve your cabanas early, like 8. The peacocks on the resort are very loud, so if you are a light sleeper I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ear plugs! Making dinner reservations in the AM is rather annoying, be prepared to eat at 9 if your have a large group. Overall we had a wonderful trip, just wish the food was better and it would have been nice to have food options around the pool!

Loved it! Relaxing and worry-free
Mar 16 2019
I loved this resort! I read some pretty awful reviews and was nervous about how the trip would go but turns out I had nothing to worry about. Besides a room mix up when checking in, everything went great! Highly recommend the Indochine restaurant, Bellini restaurant for lunch, and getting up very early to get a bed on the beach. I did this, and although other reviews described this as an annoyance, I really did not mind getting up early, watching the sunset, and reserving a few beds for me and my friends. YOUR VACATION IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT... so if you are one of those high maintenance individuals who can't stand anything not being absolutely perfect 24-7... I would suggest not going to an all inclusive resort. The food is the best it can be for the amount of individuals this place is feeding, the beds on the beach are wonderful, rooms are actually pretty awesome, and drinks are strong but who will complain about that?

Overall good but areas that need improvement
Feb 09 2019
Food and service were excellent. The beach and nightly entertainment was excellent. The people pushing the “tours” or time share presentations were pushy, they would call the room several times , knock on door early in the morning while we tried to sleep and would block entry to the buffet .. the hotel boasted all these bars and restaurants but not all restaurants were available with all inclusive and only open to VIP members and you couldn’t eat at the nicer restaurants every night. Only once or twice the entire stay. There was no place to eat after hours so days were you had excursions and miss certain meal times there were no options , no 24 hour food service. No room service. Called maintenance every day during our stay because the touilet would flush , bathroom shower / tub very outdated, had to pay extra for safe in room. They only stocked the refrigerator on arrival day

Do not stay!!!

Overall the resort sucked.. had a horrible time checking in. There is n AC so we had to wait over 2 hours in the heat to check in. The food overall was HORRIBLE. The maids were very kind and there is nothing to do at this resort. We will not be going back to this resort

Nice Place But!

Hotel was nice, I would recommend it and go again. Some of public bathrooms need a lot of work. There were too many prostitutes on the premises. I was approached several times and my wife did not like knowing prostitutes were on the premises.

I believe that if the hotel accommodations are part of a time share and that participation in a time share talk is included it should be disclosed. We were literally hounded (as were other guests) by an army of representatives who literally followed us around and would not take no for an answer until we agreed to listen to the first part of the presentation. This took valuable time out of our vacation and did not contribute to relaxation which after all is the point of a vacation right? Would never return or recommend this resort. Also, have been traveling with Apple for over 20 years and this has left a bad impression on me and I will carefully chose next vacation. It should also be noted that we were informed that they have a relationship with Apple and they give the rooms to Apple at no charge and then they get access to the travelers. If this is true, I am also concerned at the price I paid for the stay to Apple if Apple got my room for free. Sounds like false advertising and a little unethical.

Checkin was a nightmare! Overworked employees created an "I don't care anymore" attitude. High pressure sales attmosphere. Service disappears when you don't go to "The Tower" I litterally had a sales rep run after me after his 15 minutes turned into 30. Rooms were very dated. Futon cushion was slick with body oils, hard and flat. We had a pleasant experience in 2014 and decided to try it again. Mini bar was never restocked, had to call for towels, shower spills onto bathroom floor creating a flood, patio doors are impossible to open and close. All in All a horrible experience.

We did not have a good experience. The rooms were not updated, cockroaches were in the rooms. Managers yelling at employees in front of us. Food wasn't well prepared, did not seem they put much attention to food.

Great First Time at THE TROPICAL
Thu Apr 25 18:06:48 EDT 2019
This trip was offered to us as a special promtion and we extended the invitation to friends who had not yet been to the Caribbean. We were given room side by side on the floor of our choice. After being picked up at the airport and the ride to the resort checkin went very quickly. Thank you Aura. There were several restaurants for beakfast and lunch, but our fav was the Cassablanco. Dinner reservations were easily made at our prefered early time. Our best dinner was at the BLUE LAGOON. Sorry we did not book it twice. The activies & entertainment team, Pinky, Chocolat, Tequilla, Cappachino, Shaggy, and Jeremy were wonderful: lots of help to find place, fun lessons for Spanish and dancing, water aerobics and games. The bar tenders were friendly , and efficient . It was a great introduction for our Canadian friends to see how we love the islands.

Everything was just PERFECT!

I just came back from a week vacation with my family and friends. We absolutely loved everything about it. The pools, bars, restaurants, rooms, staff. I big shout out to the amazing entertainment team: Pinky, Chocolate, Shaggy, Mosquito, Tequila, Cappuccino, Superman (I hope I mentioned all of them). They were above and beyond with everyone, especially my kids, who are missing them so much! My daughter literally cried the night before we checked out. The parties and shows were awesome! It was truly an unforgettable spring break! We will definitely be back soon.

Vacation to remember!

The staff at the Tropical resort were AMAZING! the animation team does a wonderful job of keeping families/friends entertained doing activities such as balloon toss, musical chairs ,water golf, water aerobics and more. They really make you feel like you know them on a more personal level.

This resort is huge! So many things to see, so many things to do! The evening shows are awesome, with great dancers and costumes, and the one night at the big Casino is out of this world! I particularly want to thank my friend Bonaire, Jorge of the Jungle, who is working very hard every day to schedule all of the animation team's activities. He is always very reliable and can make you feel very included. I want to thank him, and all of the animation team, from both hotels, the Lifestyle and the Cofresi.
