The all inclusive doesn't meet standards
Mar 06 2016
The room and hotel itself was pretty much what we expected, however the food was not good at all. There were very few choices for meals. Breakfast didn't include any breakfast meats at all. No bacon, sausage or anything like that. Not even any chopped ham for omelets. No scrambled eggs, no yogurt, no bagels or English muffins, fruit that was served for breakfast was very limited (3 kinds). This could easily be fixed. Lunch was OK, but the evening meal was very poor. All inclusive at the bar didn't even include most of the kinds of drinks that they actually poor. No rum cream, no Hummingbirds or Tequila sunrise etc. They made them, but if you wanted them you had to pay. The beach area was small, but live able. The security on the beach was Excellent, thanks to Micheal the security guard. Beach chair cushions could be upgraded. There was no entertainment except for the bartenders dancing at times. The wait staff was very good as were the bartenders with the exception of a couple of them that wouldn't even look at you, never said thank-you when you tipped or anything. They could update their lock box system and replace with in room safes. The lock box does work, but just not as convenient. Not sure if it the hotel ownership or the way the hotel is managed, but most of it's problems could be fixed! The breakfast cook at the egg station was friendly and nice for 6 out of the 7 days. But the back up person on Wednesday couldn't even make two eggs at the same time causing huge back ups in the breakfast line. With such limited choices for breakfast most people opted for eggs. The water for tea wasn't even hot enough to steep tea. Had hotter water in the bathroom in our room that what you got for tea, and only 1 kind of tea available unless you brought your own.

The pictures for this hotel are old. My first overall impression was dissappointment. We paid extra for superior beachside. DO NOT do this. The view is over a dirty roof, from a balcony in bad need of repair. Garden side will be just fine. Also what you do not know is that Superioe beachside is up 2 flights of concrete stairs. You will wait at least 5 to 8 minutes for a shower. Then it will be freezing cold, then scalding hot again. The beach is TINY. There are never enough chairs, and very few umbrellas. But who wants to lay in a row and back to back with all the other guests? There are several hotels close by - where the beach is much more accomodating and spacious. The food was just ok. The bar tenders lack any personality for the most part. You will get served - but I often felt like I was bothering them. This is not a place that you will need to bring any dressy clothes. The restuarant next door is good - but very overpriced, with small portions. There is a good place to shop across the street - buy your stuff there...not along the beach! I would not go back to the Legends. Jamaica has a beautiful beach - but enjoy from some other place.

Not at all what we expected from the write-ups and descriptions.

We were very disappointed that the room had not refrigerators in them. Prices at the restaurant were relatively high although that was typical of all the restaurants on the beach. We paid extra for the superior beachside room and the only thing that was beachside about it was that it was on the beachside of the road. The hotel could have offered more amenities with regards to activities and helping with excursions. The staff was friendly and courteous and the rooms were adequate, bathrooms need some work. I doubt that I would visit Negril again, you could not walk on the beach without being approached by the native Jamaicans asking you to buy this and that or to get you to come into their establishment.

The staff was very friendly, they took care of any problems we may have come across. Michael the gaurd does an mazing job at keeping rif raf out of your hair as well. As for apple vacation it's self. I will never book a trip through you ever again, nor will I recommend your travel agency either. After numerous times of asking for beachside room we didn't receive one. Among other problems I had while booking.

Over all the trip was ok. We spent alot of time off site as the staff was not very friendly and there was no entertainment or activities offered. The biggest disappointment was upon our arival to the airport in Montego Bay. Our trip included tranport to and from our resort. We could not find anyone from Apple to take us to the resort. It cost us a $100 cab ride to get from the airport to Legends! Two day before our departre, we were checking with the front desk to make sure we were not going to have to also pay to get back to the airport. An Apple rep happened to be there. When we told him about having to pay $100 for a cab instead of the transport we were supposed to have received, his only response was "Are you serious?" I was very dissapointed. I feel we should be reimbursed for our added expense.

Legends Resort - Negril, Jamaica
Mar 08 2013
Legends Resort was a rated 2-star. This is accurate. The hotel room was clean, but bare-bones. There were few amenties. The lighting in the room and the bathroom was very dark, so these could have been improved. The bed was very comfortable. The beach at the hotel was very small, but Michael (security guard) was very tenacious about keeping the riff-raff out of the area. It was nice that we could go to Samsara (sister hotel) and use their facilities. It took out out of the fray for a day or two. The cook (Mama) prepared basic, but good meals. We knew this would not be a 5-star resort when we booked it. We checked out the reviews on Trip Advisor, and many of them were negative. We had an excellent time, but we are very adaptable people. All we wanted was a clean room. Although the room was a little shabby, it was clean, so this satisfied our needs. As far as recommending this resort to friend/family, we could recomment it to some. Others would not find it up to their standards. We wanted more of a local experience, and we got it at Legends.

I also asked for extra towels, which the office said there's a procedure and the maid would take the 1 towel in am noit return till almost dinner time, no hand towels or wash rags were given. The toilet broke, I had to reming them several times, the AC leaked water all over my clothed, hotel never offered to clean them or never fixed it, they gave me after a few days and I slipped many times, large beacj towels to soak up water, I will certainly make sure next vacation hotel supplies things that I tought were standard.

The Legends Resort hotel dining/bar/beach area is staffed by the most caring and friendly people I have ever come across. Within 24 hours of our arrival the staff made it clear by their actions that taking care of the guest was very importtant to them. The facility was very child/family friendly, and the service staff in the dining/bar beach area made it more so by learning quickly what tha childrens names were, and who they belonged to. We felt as if we had half dozen helpers looking after the kids, that makes life much more relaxing for mom and dad. The hotel rooms, food etc. is not five star, but everything is clean, very good value for the money paid. Everything regarding connections went as smooth as silk, but the bus ride to and from the airport is a little longer than I liked.

Better than I could have imagined

What an amazing place. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I read the reviews prior to coming and I was a bit concerned about what to expect. Now, I read the negative reviews and chuckle about it-pay them no attention. I found it charming and it exceeded my expectations. I wanted Jamaica-and this resort gave me Jamaica. I had the most amazing house keeper- Samita! Beautiful person, always smiling and did a great job cleaning and leaving flowers! Thank you for that-it was an extra detail that made me smile, and relax, knowing I’m on vacation. The food was amazing. I am very appreciative of food that I don’t have to cook! It was well prepared, and there was a variety. If there was something I didn’t like, it was an easy walk to the street for jerk chicken...which was also fun for an afternoon snack! I really appreciate how everyone was happy to be there and serving me with a smile on their face. My favorites included Carrie Ann(so very sweet!), Kerasha (I REMEMBERED!!) Shaney (thanks for the Banana Daquiris!) Toy, Kenrick-you all are amazing people, thank you for everything you did to make my vacation as care free as possible. I couldn’t have asked for a better time. Also-Mike on the beach! I think my husband enjoyed hanging out with you the most! I really appreciated having an umbrella, and enjoyed the security I had when you were there. You made it possible to close my eyes and relax on the beach! Thank you my friend. Also-I appreciate your system with the chairs, and i was never without a chair throughout the day. Plenty of room on the beach... And also to the groundskeeper-nice job, everything was well manicured and beautiful. Nice job Legends. I can’t wait to come back.

Loved it.

Very nice cozy resort with the real island spirit. very friendly and courteous staff. Ms Jennifer (Bartender) was our favorite. She was very kind and welcoming. The security on the beach was very kind also. We took our 7 months old daughter and they made sure we were accommodated and comfortable all the time. A bit too strick on visitor policies but a very friendly and cozy resort.

Amazing 7 MILE beach location!
Sun Mar 17 15:41:14 EDT 2019
The perfect beach front location on the 7 Mile and great service! The location seemed to be right in the middle of Negril. If you enjoy walking, eating and exploring different locations up and down the beach, this is a great location! Also, close enough to the Westend for checking out, only a 5 dollar cab ride from what seemed to be everywhere.

There are not enough beach chairs for everyone. Everything is out of date by 20+ years and run down. They say they have a pool, but it is literally I have seen fountains deeper. They claim to be "all inclusive", but they are far from it. For the lunch "buffet" they offered chicken tenders, french fries, a corn salad, tuna casserole, and a veggie medley. I didn't even get any french fries because they didn't have enough for everyone. This place is a joke. The only good thing about it is the beautiful beach, but there are so many vendors walking up and down it you are constantly bombarded.

Ok but not for us

We wanted to try a smaller resort and visit 7 mile beach. This was our 8th trip to Jamaica & we only repeated a resort once. We didn’t like waiting in lines to eat & never seeing the same waitstaff twice. Even worse is when they close an entire restaurant on the resort for a wedding so that means even more waiting to eat. So we chose the very famous Legends. I read a few reviews but I should have read more. Some staff were friendly like we are so accustomed to when we visit but other staff ( bar maids) were not happy, nice or efficient. The housekeepers were lovely & kept the room clean even though the resort doesn’t bother to do any painting or power washing that could go a long way. The hard working groundskeepers were very pleasant considering their 16 hour work day. The buffet was VERY limited, stayed 5 nights & never had their jerked chicken. We went out to the gate & to the left where we had fresh juicy yummy jerked chicken & some great conversation. The buffet had banana bread one night for desert, no desert any other time. I like to sit on the beach at night & didn’t realize that might not be the smartest idea on 7 Mile beach, plus they lock the gate to the beach every night at 10 pm. I loved the vibe at 7 Mile during the day with all the vendors, vacationers, Horse back riders, even a friendly pup or 2 & vacationers walking by, always entertaining. One more pretty big issue for us was no room safe. You’re on vacation, of course you are caring cash but the only secure place I was told was to lock it up behind the front desk that is not open 24 hrs. Ya that’s a problem. I knew it was older small and had less food choices but that was just a little too little for us. You chose what you like & it was obvious other people were more satisfied with the “style” than we were. No real terrible issues? but the place could use a few more towels, some paint & a few well overdue repairs. We also paid top dollar for our stay, the most we ever spent all 8 visits all at the same time of year. Been there, done that. Won’t be back. Sorry to the employees who were very hospitable & nice.
