WE HAVE BEEN GOING TO THIS RESORT FOR 25 YEARS. THIS YEAR WITH THE ALL INCLUSIVE CHANGE WE NOTICED THE FOOD WAS NOT UP TO THE USUAL HIGH QUALITY AND THE SEVICE WHEN ORDERING OFF THE MENU IN THE RESTAURANT AND BAR WAS SUBSTANDARD AS THE ALLINCLUSIVE GUESTS WERE DEMANDING ALL THEIR TIME AND ATTENTION.. WE OPTED TO USE ROOM SERVICE RATHER THAN BE SUBJECTED TO AND HARRASSED BY ALL THE NOISE AND CHAOS. WE WILL PAUSE BEFORE WE RESERVE A ROOM NEXT YEAR..

Las Brisas is considered a 6 Apple property by Apple Vacations, unfortunately that rating did not meet our expectations of a 6 Apple compared to other Apple resorts that we have stayed in in various locations in Mexico. I think that Apple will/should revisit that rating so that their consumers have a better understanding of what type of property they are booking. That being said, the property is in general a 4 Apple. It is in a very scenic location, with spectacular views of the inlet bay. It has a private beach with soft sand and plenty of space to take a reasonable walk along the shore. There are plenty of beach chairs and the area is well kept. There is an area to enjoy food and beverages as well as servers to bring items to your chairs. The rooms are clean but average (Ocean view junior suite) in amenities, size. They could use updating. The food in the main buffet area is average with little variation. The service is very good and they all are extremely gracious, friendly. The fitness center is less than desirable with some of the equipment not in working order. It also has very limited cardio machines so when the resort is busy it can be challenging to get in to use a treadmill or bike (only one bike). There are no free weights; just a limited number of machines. It is somewhat air conditioned. The road to get into downtown Ixtapa or Zhiu is proximal to the resort. Ixtapa is walkable from the resort and Zhui is about a 10 minute bus ride for 12 pesos. Great option to have... Overall, we had a great vacation and we would consider using the property again; however, Apple should genuinely review its rating of the property. We were disappointed as our expectations were beyond what we experienced.

Considering there hasn't been a new hotel on the beach in Ixtapa for more than 30 years, Las Brisas remains a solid choice. But it's getting more shabby each year. Again, still among the best available at the lovely resort town, but not near to what it once was. Even the beach is eroding. Cliental is becoming much more family oriented. The atmosphere less upscale. But the views remain gorgeous, the rooms are fine and the price can't be beat, particularly with the peso so soft against the dollar.

Our 7 day stay at Las Brisas in Ixtapa was wonderful, as usual. The layout of the rooms provides ocean breezes and waves crashing on the shore daily. We are always happy with the hotel and restaurant staff, the restaurant food, and the miscellaneous store. The pools are clean and inviting. We like walking into Ixtapa and don't mind that Las Brisas is built on a hill. You can, however, take a cab easily from the hotel or ride the local buses to and from Zihuatanejo. We will return again next year which will be our tenth visit. The fitness center is a nice addition too!

I was surprised to learn this hotel is a classic old hotel, because it is very modern and contemporary, with every amenity one can imagine. The staff, in every area, were very personable and helpful, going out of their way to be sure we were comfortable and showered with kindness. The food and drinks were amazing, both in the buffet and snack bar, (very friendly waiters we came to know), and we enjoyed an evening in the Mexicano Restaurant. Our evening in Las Brisas II was interrupted by the need for a doctor to be called to our room, but the dinners we'd ordered were brought to our room. The staff there were so helpful with this emergency, and even called afterward to check on our status with the doctor. Our room was always clean and decorated with petals and flowers! We took advantage of the pool (gorgeous!) and the massage spa. The spa might be an area that could be improved upon and spruced up and advertised more. The massages were adequate and professional. The staff in the shops were very helpful, as were the taxi staff. All in all it was a fabulous experience, with incomparable views and located right between Ixtapa and Zihautanejo. I would definitely return to Las Brisas.

Went to Las Brisas for Christmas break with family. It was a little rough at check in, as was very busy and rooms were a bit late. Then our first day there being Xmas eve was very busy on Beach and very difficult getting chairs, but after that had a great time there. The staff on the Beach was incredible, love having my bucket of beers filled with ice and beer through out the day, also a bucket of ice with bottled water through out the day as well. The beach is private and the kids had a great time in the water, some great waves to play in. The beach restaurant was one of the best I have had on a winter vacation, food was fantastic. Hotel was close to Ixtapa, and they have great shops and restaurants in town. Was able to watch hockey at Franks Bar. The hotel very clean, and thought overall food was good. It was the Beach staff that made this a great family vacation.

Just returned from my second visit at Las Brisas, Ixtapa. Even better this time. Amazing staff and so happy to see the staff from last year. Thanks to the staff at the Bellavista and Las Brisa 1 and 2 restaurants. The food is too delicious and always served with a smile. We made sure that we always tipped the restaurant staff at lease 15% and it as really appreciated. This year we upgraded to the penthouse Junior suite and it was unbelievable. Two gorgeous terraces with an outside jacuzzi overlooking the Pacific. Thanks to Senor Roberto Rangel , the former reservation manager, for arranging this upgrade for us. So special to have a private beach and lots of palapas and lounge chairs. The pool area is also outstanding. Really enjoyed the nature walk that they offer a week. Totally safe, clean and very comfortable. I look forward to returning for a 3week stay next month. A big thank you to the new reservation manager, Senor Miguel Hernandez. Mucho gracias, 🦋 Rosemarie and Stephen Taylor

Amazingly Relaxed Vacation

We spend 5 days after New Years in Las Brisas Ixtapa on an all inclusive plan and it was one of the most relaxing, enjoyable vacation. I love the architecture of the hotel, it’s magnitude and resemblance to ancient mexican structures on one hand and focus on ocean as all rooms and open areas have gorgeous views of an ocean. The room was spacious, clean, AC, with a big balcony; the only downsize were the pillows that could be more comfortable. The beach is great: almost white send, clean water, privacy, no fuss over sun beds, the ocean was not too ruff. The food: there is plenty of option to choose from so you don’t get bored both in types of dishes and locations( bellavista restaurant, beach snack bar, pool snack bar ..). We got two special dinners with our plan - we have chosen to go to italian restaurant and las brisas II - great opportunity to dress up and enjoy delicious meals. The service: the beach and restaurant staff are amazing and hard working, there are always around for anything you need; the reception needs some updating, it’s a bit terrifying to see huge lines in front of reception and conserje service could use some improvement. All in all, when you combine gorgeous scenery with good service you end up having a wonderful holiday.

Nice beach, lots of cons

Visited Las Brisas for 5 days with 2 adults and 2 teenagers. To reiterate other reviewers' comments: Check-in process was 2+ hours with no amenities (chairs, drinks, fans) and there were not that many people in front of us. Some folks needed to 10-15 each minutes to check in. We were provided very little information on check in regarding restaurants, meal plan, pool, etc. We would have left the hotel at that time if there was availability elsewhere. AI plan means buffet for every meal when you are with your family. Children are not allowed in the nicest restaurants. Every restaurant required that the men wear pants, and since my husband did not pack any, we were buffet bound each night. Food quality was mid-range. The staff in the buffet restaurant was fantastic. Even without a family, you are only provided 2 meals outside the buffet. Pool: beautiful and clean with food and drinks served poolside. Very crowded over the weekend but staff was very nice and accommodating. Beach was lovely and we hit great weather for body surfing in the warm waters. Rooms: clean, cool, although sparse in decor and amenities, but the ocean view makes up for it. Beds were quite firm.

Very mixed feelings...

I am writing this review while still at the hotel after staying here for 8 days and 10 more days left and I am still struggling with giving it a fair assessment. First of all (and this has nothing to do with the hotel, but with mother nature, but I thought I’d throw my two cents here because if I had known this, I wouldn’t have come, so maybe this info would be helpful to someone), the ocean is rough here! I am not sure whether this is always like this (this is our first time in the area) or just this time of the year, but it is rough. I am not a fan of jumping in the waves covered in sand, so this is a biggie for me, and as I said I wouldn’t have come, had I known. We are going to Playa La Ropa almost every day to swim (about 15 min by cab and 110-170 pesos, depending on the driver), which is a shame because we do have an AI package here, and those trips are not cheap (ride+food+drinks...). Now, the beach and location here are beautiful. I mean gorgeous and are definitely worth a trip. It’s a secluded area between two mountains away from other beaches—gorgeous! Some days, though, it felf like the beach wasn’t cleaned with cups, cigarette buds, other stuff left by the guests (can’t you clean after yourselves, dear guests?! C’mon!). Also, a huge plus—all the rooms in the hotel as well as most of the restaurants face the ocean! Amazing views from everywhere! The rooms are clean and we did not have any issues with the AC. The food is impecable (and I am tough to please because I can cook!). Different varieties and cuisines, all fresh and tasty, both the buffet and restaurants. La Brisa II is amazing. Try tuna tartar and baby spinach salad with spaghetti dish (don’t remember the exact name, but it’s the only spaghetti dish on the main course menu) for your entree and you’ll be in heaven. Service in bars, restaurants, and the beach/pool areas is outstanding too. They are friendly, funny, fast, and courteous. The only downside is the alcohol amount. If you order gin and tonic, there is more tonic than gin, no matter how much you tip or ask. Just order straight and you’ll be fine. And now the sad part. Some reviews said the hotel is outdated. Maybe... we haven’t been here before, but I’d say it’s in line with the other similar hotel chains, like Riu or Secrets, neither/nor, you know, but for the money, it’s great. What is totally NOT acceptable is the hotel’s system management, or lack thereof, and how they organize things. OMG! It’s not outdated! It’s antique! Probably BC era... One of the reviews said check in took 45 min. How about 3 hours???? THREEEEEE painful hours without food or water!!!! Not so many people... about 30, not families, but people. We arrived at 5 pm and were in at 8 pm!!!! Horrifying! No welcome drink! No water at all! No food until you have your bracelet (we bought AI). And lines everywhere! You want breakfast, stay in line. Lunch—line. Money exchange takes about 30-45 min with questions like: “Did you also exchange money yesterday?” Huh? Why do you care??? They constantly ask for your room number everywhere and write it on a piece of paper and then baby this piece of paper from one person to the other. Why?? Still remains a secret for me... Poor person that cuts these pieces of paper every day (because they are cut!). Such a waste of time and resources! (The first two pics show the check in line on the day we arrived and empty water containers that were never replenished).
