Our HAPPY Place

Ixtapa Mexico and Las Brisas is a place we have traveled to more than 15 times. It is the perfect vacation for those who want quiet, relaxation, great staff who always make you feel welcome, and an amazing sunset every evening!

Once proud beauty aging rapidly

Considering there hasn't been a new hotel on the beach in Ixtapa for more than 30 years, Las Brisas remains a solid choice. But it's getting more shabby each year. Again, still among the best available at the lovely resort town, but not near to what it once was. Even the beach is eroding. Cliental is becoming much more family oriented. The atmosphere less upscale. But the views remain gorgeous, the rooms are fine and the price can't be beat, particularly with the peso so soft against the dollar.

Our 7 day stay at Las Brisas in Ixtapa was wonderful, as usual. The layout of the rooms provides ocean breezes and waves crashing on the shore daily. We are always happy with the hotel and restaurant staff, the restaurant food, and the miscellaneous store. The pools are clean and inviting. We like walking into Ixtapa and don't mind that Las Brisas is built on a hill. You can, however, take a cab easily from the hotel or ride the local buses to and from Zihuatanejo. We will return again next year which will be our tenth visit. The fitness center is a nice addition too!

Las Brisas Paradise

I was surprised to learn this hotel is a classic old hotel, because it is very modern and contemporary, with every amenity one can imagine. The staff, in every area, were very personable and helpful, going out of their way to be sure we were comfortable and showered with kindness. The food and drinks were amazing, both in the buffet and snack bar, (very friendly waiters we came to know), and we enjoyed an evening in the Mexicano Restaurant. Our evening in Las Brisas II was interrupted by the need for a doctor to be called to our room, but the dinners we'd ordered were brought to our room. The staff there were so helpful with this emergency, and even called afterward to check on our status with the doctor. Our room was always clean and decorated with petals and flowers! We took advantage of the pool (gorgeous!) and the massage spa. The spa might be an area that could be improved upon and spruced up and advertised more. The massages were adequate and professional. The staff in the shops were very helpful, as were the taxi staff. All in all it was a fabulous experience, with incomparable views and located right between Ixtapa and Zihautanejo. I would definitely return to Las Brisas.

Great hotel

We have stayed at Las Brisas for at least 8 years. It is a lovely hotel with great facilities including the private beach. However, we believe that there are several maintenance issues that need to be resolved if the hotel is to continue to enjoy a fine rating.

Las Brisas is lux

We stayed at Las Brisas for one night because the hotel we wanted was full that night. It is a luxury hotel with spectacular architecture and a private beach. The landscaping is beautiful and beautifully kept. The room was excellent with a spacious deck that looked SW to the ocean. Food prices were high but the food was good, especially in the seafood restaurant. It's not an intimate, informal place.

Enjoyed a week away from harsh minnesota wind chills with outstanding views, good food and a fabulous beach. Las Brisas is the Queen Diva of Mexico resorts and there is no one who can come close .

Overall Good!!
Nov 27 2013
This was our 16th trip to this hotel in Ixtapa. We love the people @ the hotel and they treat us fabulous because we have been their so many times. However, the hotel used to be a Westen and it was great!!! Now they seem to cater more to the Mexicans. Very few English TV Channels...The hotel isn't being maintained properly. The elevator to the beach was broken, so we had to walk down and back up 10 floors. I'm sure the recent Hurricane didn't help. The beach is great, clean and private, but if you like to swim in the ocean this is not the place!! We have seen many broken bones over the years and this year was no exception. The waves are very large and rough!! So, if you like to swim, like I do...the pool is your only option. I've recommended this hotel to many people in the past... I'm not sure I would anymore. Also, we have always booked through Apple, but have found out it is cheaper to book our own Air and Hotel separate. We used to fly direct with Apple (USA 3000) and always have a full plane to Ixtapa over the Thanksgiving Holiday. What happened??? You still fly direct to other Mexico locations?? A direct flight would definitely change our mind about using you guys again next year...maybe staying @ a different hotel.

We have come to Las Brisas for 18 years. Your staff is the best. Breakfast is a joy to see the same smiley faces each year. Our beach waiters are the hardest workers at the hotel. This year is the first where we have seen buses come with so many families with chldren on the weekend. No more peace and quiet on the weekend.

Okey, but not great

This hotel was a bit disappointing, could use some maintenance and the food at the restaurants were not really a highlight! The terrace in the room feels private and has a great view, so that’s a huge plus! We had an okey time here, but would definitely opt for another hotel if going back to Ixtapa in the future!

Disaster Emperador Suite
Mon Dec 04 11:49:17 EST 2017
I'm a repeat visitor, and I Paid $600/nt for Emperador Suite, they lost my reservation, the suite's shower was broken when I got there, there was construction noise right outside my suite from 9am-10pm, no one paid attention to my needs or requests, maintenance men came in and out of my room unannounced. It was really disappointing, because I had planned the trip long in advance. All in all I had booked 7 rooms that weekend for a birthday, and the staff was completely non-responsive and I couldn't even get a manager to speak with me. Sad reality for a place that I have had a lot of good times at. :-(

Great value, wonderful staff

It's was an architecturally cool (for the time) 1980's Westin that has transferred ownership. And as such, is a bit tired. The staff and people of Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo are wonderful. The coupons for "special dinners" are hokey. The food was much better than anticipated for an all-inclusive. We ate out 1/3 of the time only to experience Zihuatanejo restaurants like "Tentaciones" which is in the top 10 of what I've experienced in the world. Skip "El Faro" restaurant, great view but that's all

Lacation. Location.

Into a third night here at the end of November on a 22 night stay. No splitting hairs on this resort as it is simple to understand why the owners built here. Grounds, location and layout are all amazing. Although a bit outdated the hotel itself is fairly well maintained. The staff throughout is very exceptional. Enough said as they rate as high and professional as any resort in Mexico that we've been to in over 25 years of yearly visits. The buildings are a bit dated for sure but someone put a lot of ideas into how to design a beautifully thought hotel around the landscape. Pros include the landscaped area. They include the jungle itself with attention to preserving it's natural flavor within the resort. The view from every room is awesome. The beachside bar and restraunt is on a secluded beach with a beautiful natural feel. No hawkers as a bonus. Downs can be a personal choice but other than the bit of an outdated feel, it has to be said the food is at best average. If you have been to places like the RIU chains or Secrets etc then you better go back as this resort doesn't meet the same standards. Food is ok and the people here are the best at servicing you but don't get your hopes up for he same as most 5 star resorts. A 3.5 to a 4 star here is probably a good bet. The price is in that range so if you looking for an incredible location with a decent hotel than this is a place I would recommend. We will come back.
