Sad! Falling Apart...
Wed Mar 07 15:33:59 EST 2018
My husband and I visited this resort in 2010 and thought it was beautiful. In a secluded part of the island and the grounds were so pretty. Flowers everywhere, beautiful views. It felt like you were truly somewhere special. We recently went back to try and relive our last trip only to be beyond disappointed. The place is literally falling apart. You walk the grounds and it looks like it could be deserted, hardly any other guests and and everything looks old and worn out, almost like it was abandoned. All I can say it do not stay here. It is honestly gross as NOTHING is being maintained and no one seems to care. It is very sad, because this place really was once a truly beautiful place to vacation. I hope it will be restored to what it should be. But for now, definitely do not stay here, you will be extremely disappointed.

Hurry before it's over?

No need to hurry - it's over for sure. If you paid me to stay there, I probably still wouldn't. Staff indifferent, food terrible - when it was there at all.... The place is an obvious cash register for the owners, and they are emptying the drawer while putting nothing back into the place. It's pretty sad really, that place has so much potential but it's value is going in the toilet with every check in..... If you own it and want it great again, contact me otherwise sell it to someone that cares. Go West Diving - I really feel sorry for them, excellent people, excellent service but located next to that hole......

Go West Diving did an excellent job! We had some food allergies and David took amazing care of those with allergies in the restaurant. The buffet was mediocre for those that could eat it. The rest of the staff was indifferent to our being there. Rooms were clean but many rooms lacked refrigerators, hot water or a/c. If you are going to dive and don’t care about the rest it is a good destination. If it is a vacation without diving I would choose another resort.

Hurry! It's Almost Over

If you’ve been wanting to experience the crystal clear waters of Curacao and want to enjoy a peaceful, beautiful resort called Kura Hulanda Lodge and Beach Club, you’d better hurry. I’m afraid It’s glory days are over! On a positive note, our room had a breath taking view, the grounds are beautiful, although in need of care and the snorkeling is great at Playa Kalki. It’s within walking distance to Playa Grandi where you can wade into the water and snorkel with the sea turtles. Amazing beaches dot the coast in Knip and Lagun. The staff at Kura Hulanda either goes above and beyond to help while others are just hanging out waiting for the doors to close once an for all. Some long time employees have seen the property in it’s better days and are heartbroken to see how far it's fallen. My wife and I were expecting “all inclusive”. What we received was limited food choices, long buffet lines, delayed serving times and the limited drink choices. The bar used to be stocked with house whiskies, scotches and Curacao produced liquors. Theses days, they barely have 10 bottles of alcohol there. It is obvious that the owners are hanging on by a thread. They’ve cut staff to the bare minimum, aren’t maintaining the rooms properly and don’t deliver on it’s promised features like: Free shopping center shuttle (does not exist or not offered), Two outdoor pools (Not…one that is in disrepair), Babysitting or childcare (non-existent), Fitness facilities (closed), Number of bars/lounges – 2 (True!) 24-hour front desk(for what good that does), Poolside bar (True), Beach umbrellas (sort of), Business center (non-existent) and Porter/bellhop service (kinda). The first two nights, we were deprived of sleep thanks to a mouse trying to chew on the bottom of the door that separates the two rooms in the suite. This was reported after the first night and maintenance told us they do not have a mousetrap. After the second night, we were ready to pack it up and called Expedia to see what options we had. After they called the resort, Daily, the front desk clerk managed to get everyone to hop to it. She literally saved our vacation. Ally, in maintenance resolved the rodent problem quickly and our room was finally brought up to standard. Expedia needs to send a rep down there to see that the “four star” rating is undeserved. They are misleading many unknowing vacationers and if they want to maintain their credibility, need to stop covering up for this resort. We definitely overpaid for our 7 day/six night stay compared to the giveaway price offered to their Columbian guests. Kula Hulanda is trying to fill rooms now that bookings have dropped 90%. My wife and I loved the people of Curacao and will be back, but this resort will not be on our list unless a real hotel operator like Couples quickly jumps in to whip this property back into shape. Unfortunately, the government has denied interested buyers with red tape. Kula Huranda employees…start looking elsewhere!!!!

Don't stay here!

This place has gone totally down hill. It claims it is an all inclusive with one terrible buffet that runs out of food and is of poor quality. The only other place to eat is a bar and grill on the beach but you have to pay for that! The bar opens late and runs out of drinks constantly. The staff doesn't care and the property needs renovations badly. Thankfully we had rented a car so we could leave this place!
