Beautiful hotel/resort...but room missing some necessities
VANESSA W.

Loved the resort!!!!!!! Great food, pools, beach, staff was nice/cool/awesome! The few cons I have are about my room: No dresser to put my folded clothes; the water pressure in the shower was low; no mirrors on the walls (the only mirror was in the bathroom)...that was disappointing cause a girl needs at least one full body mirror; no tv menu (so had to manually click channels to find English speaking shows); no carpet on the floor (cold floors).

while we didn't have an issue with the hotel or staff itself we were extremely mislead by apple we were told on 2 separate occasions when we questioned it that the European plan covered the buffet as well as all drinks this was not the case and therefore cost us a lot of extra money that we weren't planning on spending had we known ahead of time we would of went elsewhere where it would of been covered due to this we were unable to do all the things we were looking forward to our travel agent did try to compensate us but it by no means covered all of the additional cost to us in the future I don't know if we will ever use apple vacations again

Apple was such a disappointment. I will never book through Apple again. The Apple rating is a joke. We weren't given any information about transportation or check in/out. 2 days into our trip our representative called and I let him know all of our concerns and nothing was done & I never heard from him again. Absolutely ridiculous to think that Apple rating has some kind of standard that made me feel comfortable in the first place. This whole experience has been a joke.

The best part is you do a commercial thqat shows a vacant pool with no water in it. I got to my Hotel that was under construction for 3 Months as was told that Apple wasn't even sending anybody there till the costruction was done except me. If you care as I used to use apple all the time call me. Shame on you sending out this email lke you care. If you call me I wont post this. 847-668-1441. You won't call I am sure.

The Hotel is not as pictured on the web!

Hotel- not as pictured on the website! we asked for beach front, we were put in a tower more than a block back from the beach. It is not shown in the web picture however it did have a nice view from the 14th floor. The room was not ready at 4:30 check in time, room service was very slow and no clock, coffee maker, hair dryer or hotel guide in the room. fairly clean, staff generally pretty good. Really loud but nice private decks, Food- marginally adequate and very repetitious. Breakfast was sad, 7 days and no bacon, we are Canadian! Bar at the beach closed at 8 PM. only other place open was the lobby of the hotel. BORING Beach- It was clean, however we were inundated by beach hawkers every 3- 4 minutes and beach chairs were hard to come by. Pools- generally clean and good temperature, bathrooms always clean, lots of towels, minimal beach chairs.

Food is terrible

We have visited several all inclusive resorts in Mexico and this was by far the worst we’ve ever stayed at. We are in the new tower and the the room is fantastic a beautiful view, comfortable bed, shower is great. The resort is clean and the grounds are nice, the staff is pleasant but not over friendly. The food is terrible, let me repeat that... the food is terrible! The bars are inconsistent and definitely nothing special. The buffet offers very little selection 6-7 things. Salads and fruit are hard to come by. The pools are cold. Overall I would say your money would be better spent at another resort unless your only looking for a place to sleep and maybe have breakfast. There are so many nice places with better food.

The Good and Bad

The Good: Facilities were clean and well taken care of, Housekeeping was excellent. Public washrooms were always clean even the pool bathrooms. The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. The staff in general at this resort are very friendly and accommodating to the best of their ability. The Bad: The food at this resort is terrible. If you value the food service aspect of your vacation this is not the resort for you. There are no pool waiters, no 24hr all inclusive, no room service, and only one a la carte option which is for dinner only. Be prepared to eat repetitive buffets without a lot of choices for your entire stay. Lots of stew type dishes of either chicken or pork. No bacon for breakfast, wieners are served in place of breakfast sausages, most of the dishes on the breakfast are traditional Mexican style dishes with refried beans. You have to walk 2 blocks to Oxxo if you are an early riser and want a coffee before 7am as there are no coffee makers in the rooms. The bars in the afternoon don't even have coffee if you want an afternoon coffee. If you don't care so much about the food you will love it. If you do want even decent food don't stay here.

I cannot say that I did not have a nice trip. The staff were friendly and the room was nice (except my "garden view" was actually a view of the 6 lane road and the construction down below). What bothered me was the hotel's failure to adequately accomodate it's guest, especially those guests from North America. >Upon check-in, no member of my family was given any instruction on when things opened or where to find certain buildings. What we were given was a full page of information that was completely in Spanish. I found that throughout the week I was missing a lot because most signage was in Spanish. When you host all inclusive vacations, you should expect that some of your guests will speak English exclusively. >This hotel does not do currency exchange. I was shocked when I approached the front desk only to be told to go to Wal-mart to exchange my dollars to pesos. I did eventually find a bank that was closer, but I was not able to purchase merchandise or tip as well as I usually do because I first had to find a way to exchange my dollars. >The rooms in the new tower, while very nice, were minimally equipped, very loud, and not adequately clean when I checked-in. I travelled with children and there was no bathtub for them to wash in and it took a day for the hotel to provide us with a crib/playpen for our youngest traveller. I also had to call down to the desk to get a hairdryer for the room as those are not provided. YOU HERE EVERYTHING IN THAT HOTEL! Every night I was woken up to the sound of people talking in the hall or in the rooms that I shared a wall with. The hall way echoes and the walls must be paper thin because I could here other guest's conversations (among other things) from my room the whole week. As well, when I checked-in I found the floor to my room was gritty and I had to keep my shoes on so they would no get dirty in the hotel room. I found that both beds had stains on the sheets and one even had a previous guest's hair under the covers. >The food was fine, but lacked variety. With the exception of the beach restaurant at lunch (which served burgers and fries) there was very little that would appeal to children. Most of the time we relied on the packaged food we brought with us or purchased at Wal-mart to feed the younger travellers. Only one a la carte restaurant was available and while it was nice, we found the food did not differ much from the food at the buffet (except that the portions were small) >Finally, the earliest one of the bars opened was 11am. While this did not bother me as much as it did others, it was inconvenient when on vacation and trying to relax on the beach. I was still able to enjoy my trip, but this was the first time I have felt compelled to write a review because the hotel failed to meet expectations that were established by stays at other resorts. My recommendation would be to check other places in Puerto Vallarta before committing to taking your vacation here.

We had a great time

We have been to PV a few times and were looking for an 'unplugged' time away. We knew the Krystal was an older hotel and were pleased to select the new tower with an ocean view. The room was modern, clean and very comfortable. We had requested a few items from the desk when we first arrived and promptly received them. During our two week stay there was only once that other guests disturbed us from the hall and we were pleased to hear that hotel security quieted them down and then moved them along. The grounds are beautiful which allowed for evening walks or a chance to sit with our feet in one of the pools after a long day walking around town. The staff are amazing and work hard to provide constant service. Shout outs go to Javier, Antonia, Guadalupe, Lilliana, Adriana, Saul, Alfonso, Kevin and Mario, to name a few. The pools were quiet in the morning but hard to get a chair, as the guests place their towels there so far in advance and then don't show up until noon to use them. Really selfish. The food is Mexican buffet style with some items freshly made by order. Breakfast had granola, yogurts, tropical fruit, eggs or omelettes on request and a buffet of hot cakes, frijoles and left overs from dinner. Lunch had fresh burgers or hotdogs and then a buffet of finger foods at the snack bar. Dinners were themed buffets that didn't always tie to the 'theme' title but we had some amazing pork carnitas, pasta dishes and particularly enjoyed the fish, in whatever way it was prepared. Those wanting 'American' food would be disappointed. Some highlights were the music nights in the dining area, the proximity to Walmart for suntan lotion, extra bottles of water and to catch the bus to Sayulita or Bucerias. (We always got two bottles of water each day and had a small fridge in our room for our use). Also that the bus to town stops out front of the hotel making our regular trips to and from the 'Centro' very easy. You can't beat 10 pesos each way. Your interest in this resort will depend on what you are looking for. We went to Mexico and so loved meeting the people, sharing the resort with the families, walking the beach, eating the food and practising our Spanish. We had a fabulous two weeks.
