Best Hotel in Kauai!
MICHAEL W.
May 25 2018
We absolutely loved Koa Kea Resort! The staff was great, really comfortable rooms and the beds and pillows were the most comfortable ever! The location was great and right on the beach but still felt very quaint. We would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in Kauai!

Summer Vacation-1/2 marathon 2018

My husband I stayed here at the end of August prior to run the 1/2 marathon of Kauai, we selected this one as it has ocean views and its located very close to the marathon start line. Staff is very nice and attentive, starting with the vale parking. They had wine and chocolate in the room when we arrive. And also coffee and chocolate re stock every day. We got a room with ocean view, which was very nice as we could leave the screen door open and hear the waves at night. nice pool and hot tub, even when rain on and off we were able to enjoy the pool. Bar food was also good. Due to being participants on the race, we got a discount in the spa, due to the overbooking we end up having our couples massage by the sea which was unexpected and very nice experience. They have a big fireplaces and chairs to gather around, yoga classes in the morning and a rental/classes both in site in case you feel like learning how to surf. Overall it was a very nice stay.

Beautiful Boutique Kauai Hotel

I visited this hotel for a few days over the Thanksgiving holiday. It is right on a lovely beach. In the evening, everyone gathers on the lawn and the beach to watch the sun set over the ocean. I loved this hotel for many reasons. It is a smaller hotel. My room had a nice balcony, from where I could drink a glass of wine in the warm Kauai evening. Though my room was not “ocean front”, I could see the ocean and overlooked the pool. My room was a comfortable size and beautifully appointed with a nice Hawaiian feel. The hotel is close to an outdoor shopping mall with lots of restaurants. There are other larger hotels in this area but Ko’a Kea is a gem.

Understated hotel in a beautiful location

Koa Kea is fairly small intimate property, we appreciated the quiet, chill (mostly adult) vibe of the hotel since we were travelling as a couple. We usually stay at the more family -oriented, multi-pool hotels/condos in Maui and this was our first time in Kauai. The gardens are very pretty, but the stunning ocean view is what takes your breath away. Room: the rooms are large, comfortable and spotllessly clean. We had a partial ocean view that was very relaxing. The rooms are not luxurious by any means and the furniture is getting a little nicked and worn. Outside: There is only one pool but it was not crowded and the pool side service was excellent. It is a beachfront hotel, however, the access to the beach definitely needs work---the steep stepping stones that get you down to the beach are not for everyone. The hotel is on a walking trail that takes you past other properties and eventually to Poipu Beach Park (home of dozens of sea turtles----gorgeous!). Food/restaurants: We had the b'fast pkg, and really enjoyed the variety of options. The food was top notch, well flavored and presented. And if you can, ask for Jennie to be your b'fast server---friendly, efficient, thoughtful. She's amazing. We also had dinner included in our pkg which was nice since we arrived at about 5pm from the mainland and were able to take advantage of that the first day. Again, delicious, creative, full of local ingredients. Service: This is where Koa Kea really shines. All of their staff from the valets out front, to the concierge, to the ladies at the front desk, to the servers at the restaurant and at the pool, to the housekeeping staff go above and beyond to be kind, friendly, incredibly helpful and just make you feel welcome. They have extensive knowledge of sights and good tips on how to best enjoy your time on the island, which is a real slice of heaven.

Beautiful location at the beach but overrated

My husband and I booked this hotel based on the TripAdvisor reviews. As a welcoming present (we were on our honeymoon), we received a little gift, which we considered as very nice. Our room was on the first floor with a balcony to the backyard. Unfortunately, the room was very dark which is why we consider our room as uncomfortable. In general, the staff was very nice and attentive. The property is located at Poipu beach and has a beautiful view. Overall, there was nothing to outwardly complain about this property but we felt that it was too expensive for the room that we lived in.

My husband and I loved our stay at Koa Kea. We arrived close to 10 pm, were greeted with a lei from the welcoming valet. The check-in person was so helpful in getting us the perfect room and providing the information we needed for our stay. We were hungry so she showed us he room service menu and placed our order for us right there so it would be ready for us shortly after getting to our room. A bottle of chilled champagne was ready in the room so we started our vacation toasting on the patio! The room was lovely. Fabulous toiletries, comfy robes and bed, nespresso machine. We had breakfast in red salt every morning and also ate a dinner there and one at the pool side bar. We could not believe how every single dish was so good. The vibe is very chill and relaxed. The pool was great and the beaches were so close and swimmable. All of the staff were so friendly. We cannot wait to return!! Thank you Koa Kea for making our vacation just what we hoped for and more!
