Great property

Great property with excellent views and overall service. Shout out to the valets who were knowledgeable and fun, the room service; morning and night was outstanding!! Bottle of champagne and wine was delivered for our anniversary, chocolates each night, large bottles of water each evening too. The pool service needs some work, they rely on a magic button that didn’t work half the time instead of old fashioned quality service. You had to press then button just to get water! Great rooms, good food, very few children. Would recommend you ask for a poolside/courtyard room on the Marriott side as they have the best sunset views but you can’t go wrong on the other side either. Highly recommend this hotel.

This is the spot!

We’ve been to Poipu Beach several times over the years but Koa Kea is absolutely the best! The weather, the location, it’s a small resort that’s“very well managed” and the staff is fabulous. Katherine, Mike, Alex, Dave, the bartenders, the waitresses even the landscape maintenance crew (the arborist) were like friends and family. We absolutely loved our stay. The breakfast each morning was delicious. We can’t wait to get back.? Thank you Koa Kea!!

As always, Koa Kea was a great experience. The visitors were mostly seniors and honeymooners and the quiet, serene atmosphere was perfect. We hope to go back again. We would recommend this place and it's staff as excellent.

Lovely, relaxing stay at a small hotel

From the moment my boyfriend and I arrived at the Koa Kea, we were impressed. Each and every employee, from the valets to the front desk to the housekeepers, was incredibly professional, friendly, and helpful. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the grounds are well-kept. We stayed in a garden-view room (facing the outside of the "horseshoe") and found the room to be well-appointed and cozy. The bed was surprisingly comfortable considering we're both stomach sleepers and the mattress had a puffy, soft topper on it. I absolutely loved the grapefruit-scented bath products left in the bathroom and the rain shower (which can be changed to a regular shower as well) was incredibly relaxing. We didn't get the breakfast package when we reserved the room, but we did end up having the breakfast buffet at the Red Salt several times during our stay, and also ate dinner there 3 times. I'll review the Red Salt separately, but to summarize we thought the food was fantastic. Several times we walked down the sidewalk to the beach in front of the next-door Marriott to go snorkeling, and each time we were struck by how loud and crowded the Marriott was. There were a ton of children running and screaming (as children often do) and the beach was quite crowded. While we enjoyed snorkeling at the Marriott beach, we were always glad to head back to the Koa Kea, which by contrast was child-free and quiet and peaceful. The Koa Kea had a relaxed, boutique feel to it, whereas the Marriott to me felt sort of mass-produced and characterless. Over the week we were at the Koa Kea, we made friends with the black hotel cat, Koa, who doesn't officially live there but seems to have been adopted and is well-loved by a number of hotel guests. Koa is well-behaved and will lay down at your feet and wait for a pet from you, and then begin purring. If you run into Koa during your stay, please give him a pet for me!

Koa Kea is absolutely stunning... I searched long and hard for a hotel that wasn’t too massive and commercialized, as we wanted a low key island retreat. Koa Kea was perfect for this. The view of the ocean from our room was outstanding and the pool bartender made the most delicious drinks. The resort is a short beach walking distance to Poipu’s main beach that tends to have a larger crowd. It was so much fun to snorkel there. The only downside to the hotel is mandatory valet parking for our rental. It was nice but when you’re running a few trips a day, the tipping adds up and I don’t like to skimp on tipping. The staff made our vacation, so they deserved it. There are plenty of restaurants and sites to see. We took advantage of the helicopter ride, tubing down the sugarcane canals, off-roading, kayaking, snorkeling, catamaran up Napali Coast, hiking to various falls, zip-lining and relaxing on Koa Kea’s beautiful oceanfront lawn. Heaven on earth!
