Lived Up To The Hype

We loved everything about this property and this is truly an exceptional hotel for couples. We had a room on the ground floor which turned out to be better than expected. The bed was terrific and the nespresso machine was a nice touch. RedSalt provided a descent breakfast menu but their dinner is what sets them apart from the other restaurants. We ended up eating their twice and each time had a top notch meal. We also loved the close proximity to all the other restaurants (Brennecke’s, RumFire, and Plantation Gardens). If you want a romantic getaway and want to feel pampered without all the commotion, than this place is for you!

This is a hotel for couples! Charming and relaxed, it lends itself to the perfect getaway. Centrally located, you can walk up and down the beach and enjoy the sunsets. Fabulous restaurant on property as well. Koa Kea was the highlight of our trip. Thank you!

Over The Top

Every aspect of the property is "over the top," We have been to the Hawaiin Islands for over twelve years, this is our second trip to Kauai, and have never experienced such Aloha spirit before. Each island has it's own feeling, but for us, the Koa Kea has set the Island of Kauai on the top of our list. The Hotel is located on a great part of the island, the beach is great to either side, with plenty of beautiful restaurants in close proximity (Eating House, Beach House, Kioki's, La Spezia, and the on property Red Salt were all excellent). From the moment you arrive you are greeted by a valet service second to none. Daniel, Dustin, and Kei to name just a few. Whitney checked us in, and contacted us when our room was ready. I should mention that we arrived at the hotel at 9am and were able to check in earlier than the 3pm check in time. Kristine from the front desk walked us to our room and made sure we were happy with our ocean view room, it was beautiful. The level of service was amazing. Each time we walked into the lobby, we were greeted by the front desk personnel by our names. From the house keeping service to all of the other departments on property, you will not find better service anywhere. I should mention that Claudia set us up with a tour to a hidden waterfall which turned out to be a great tour. We had breakfast each morning at the Red Salt, along with two dinners, all of the meals were very good. Jenny and Kamalei in the mornings were excellent, and Hannah and Chris were excellent servers for our dinners. My wife thought the dinners were two of the best on the island. My wife also took a eighty minute message with Jenny and thought it was magnificent. I worked out in the gym, which is adequate, and afterwards spoke with Alyssa, very nice young lady, as I waited for my wife to finish her message. On Valentines Day, as we came back from dinner, we walked past the pool bar. We were greeted by Jack Slim, the GM, who was handing out chocolate covered strawberries to guests, along with free cocktails. Jack was kind enough to spend some time with us. He talking about the property and explained to me why the staff is so conscientious about guest service. It is truly amazing how the people at the property treat each guest. The room was excellent, the location is great, the staff is magnificent, why would anyone stay anywhere else, Thank you Koa Kea, we will be returning.

This is the friendliest place on the planet. The staff were extraordinary, they helped me hire a car, organised a massage with James of the magical hands, no request was too difficult, barring one - I wanted a teapot to brew looseleaf tea in and they only had mugs and tea bags, no pots. I consoled myself with the Nespresso that is supplied in the room. Waking up to fresh, hot coffee in the room - priceless.

Upholding its own.

Koa Kea maintains its reputation through service and catering to its niche clientele. Highly recommended for couples especially those seeking a low profile and intimacy. For us, our room had everything except tea and a microwave which was produced upon request. It had a garden view and the flora did not disappoint. I suspect any room higher could only be better. There is no in-room checkout. Parking is all valet. The beach beyond the property and especially the Sheraton's just next to it are ideal for beginner surfers. See Pedro at the surf rentals. He epitomizes the aloha surfer. Just beware of the treacherous beach access towards the Sheraton. 3 people fell using it and I was one of them. Fortunately, I suffered only a minor skin abrasion. End your day at one of the nicest jacuzzis I've ever been in and at the fire pits. I only wish that the pits on time coincided with the jacuzzi evening end.
