our gal Krystin at the outside bar was awesome! She was very attentive and knew exactly what i wanted and was happy to be there. At check in we were treated like royalty and shown to our room. we had some questions and within the next 10 minutes they had sent up directions to where we were asking about. The turn down service in the evening was an awesome touch and our gal was the BEST! As busy as the restaurant was Food Manager was more than eager to get us fit in so we could have a dinner their with them. I will definately suggest to friends and family to book however, i don't really want to give away my tiny secret paradise we have found with your resort.

We absolutely loved Koa Kea Resort! The staff was great, really comfortable rooms and the beds and pillows were the most comfortable ever! The location was great and right on the beach but still felt very quaint. We would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in Kauai!

Very little to be disappointed about at the Koa Kea. With 120 rooms this is a boutique hotel – no water slides, if fact there is no Hawaiian music being played in the background. The outside bar closes around 9 and you may hear some conversation at the two firepits but other than that its quiet and relaxing. You get a back to nature feel as most mornings there is a yoga class which takes place around 6:30 and lasts 45 minutes. Other points: - Rooms are not large but comfortable. Very nice dual head (rain) shower and the soaps and lotions are outstanding. There is a coffee machine in the room but there is also a coffee service starting at 6:00 in the lobby. - Trip from the airport is about 30 minutes. Good idea to stop at Costco or Safeway on the way to the resort. There is a small fridge in the room. - Red Salt has a nice breakfast, a bit pricy but we had it included in our package. We had Sushi which was good quality but lacking quantity. Not a great value. - Resort fee of $37/day = what can you do. The yoga is a bonus. If you plan to work out the gym is average at best but if you want cardio walk on the beach or take a hike. - Bonus is the use of a hospitality room for 1 hour after you check out. For us we had a late flight. The hotel held our bags and we toured the Waimea Canyon which takes about 3 hours if you stop off at a few viewing areas – a must do when visiting Kauai. Then we came back freshened up and left for the airport. - Great happy hour across the street at Keoki’s Paradise or a mile away at the Lanai Restaurant. If you want a fancier meal the Beach House has an amazing view and great food. - A bit of a pain with the mandatory valet service. - We had a SPA credit. The message was good, there is no sauna or other amenities. - We were on the ground level with a partial view. In most cases I am not a fan of being on the ground level. You do lose some of the view from your balcony but you do have your own lawn chairs and given the resort is so quiet there is not issue with noise or foot traffic. - Easy access to a nice sandy beach to the left and right of the property. Bottom line you are paying good money for outstanding service, a secluded feel and tastefully done rooms.

We really liked that the Koa Kea hotel was smaller and more intimate than much larger and busier properties, like the next-door Marriott. But we also had mixed feelings about the property. There is only valet on-site parking. As we arrived, a valet spirited away our luggage (and placed a cooler bag with ice inside another bag, soaking my wife’s good shoes with condensation). Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. We travel often, and that’s as late as anyplace we’ve stayed. We arrived at 2:00, and couldn’t access our room until 3:15. In contrast to the valet’s eager service on arrival, we had to call to ask that our luggage be afterwards delivered to the room. A word about location. Koa Kea is advertised as “beach-front.” The great majority of the property’s frontage, however, consists of a rocky outcropping preventing ocean access. There’s only a small sandy area, to the far right, down a sketchy stairway of rocks. We had a “partial ocean view” room. Looking out the room’s patio doors, we *only* saw trees. We had to step out onto the patio to actually see the ocean. The in-house dining at Red Salt is mixed. The breakfast “buffet” is limited, but it does have fresh, flavorful fruit. The breakfast menu entrees were very well prepared. Our one dinner at the restaurant was also mixed. Another couple joined us at the last moment, so we dined impromptu in the lounge, where we could order very fresh sushi in addition to the Red Salt menu. I really liked my entrée of mahi; my wife felt her Ahi was disappointing compared to several other preparations ordered elsewhere in the state. A note – the restaurants, particularly the pool bar, served *very* salty food, something to remember if one is on a restricted diet. One last note – which perhaps pertains to the late check-in. Our room was never made up, after three evening, until mid-afternoon.

We had a wonderful time at your beautiful resort. Every staff member we came in contact with was very polite and helpful. The food was delicious, loved eating by the pool and ocean. We will definitely be returning.

We really appreciated the level of service and amenities at a smaller, boutique resort. The Red Salt restaurant was excellent for dinner and breakfast. My wife raved about the spa and the poolside service was great. The location on the pathway was very convenient. It was a very relaxing stay. The beaches in Poipu aren’t that conducive to spending the whole day but the hotel is only steps away. The day trips to Waimea and Princeville made Poipu a central location. Kauai is a long way from home but we hope to get back to the Koa Kea again!

The best customer service. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable with the most amazing bed! The valet guys are the best. They remember your name and where you were going. Love Erin at the pool bar and Mike at valet. Definitely a luxury resort.
