Rooms were nice however the couple we were with were supposed to have a king bed but instead had two full beds pushed together. We had problems with making reservations at the restaurant and encounter many rude staff members. The beach was great and so was the pool. Food was ok.

WiFi was outstanding, food was mediocre, beach was amazing, evening show had a contest that involved women collecting hats, then shoes, then shirts and finally pants from audience members. Very inappropriate with children present. Other nights entertainment was better.

We were very disappointed in this hotel especially when it was rated a golden Apple resort, which is suppose to be better than the standard red apple ratings! The food was awful, the hotel is old, in our room everything felt cool and clammy (sheets, towels clothes, etc) I assume due to their air conditioning system. We had adjoining rooms and the room the kids were in the AC barley was cool. We had to have our shower serviced and the TV only had a few clear stations. For the amount of money we spent on this vacation, we were very disappointed, to say the least!

From the time that the bags were checked in Punta Cana and claimed in St Louis and brought home, the luggage had been ransacked and gone through and left a mess and many pieces of jewelry were missing

Would highly recommend this resort. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were immaculate, always working and keeping the landscape trimmed. Food was great, so many choices everyday. Would definitely come back!

Very nice resort..............didn't want to buy into another resort

The resort was very nice. Our housekeeper Elba was extremely nice made us different animals & such every day & the rooms were cleaned. The food was mostly the same no matter what resort you went to. I guess the only thing I didn't like was them wanting you to buy into another resort..I went to just relax and enjoy being pampered for a week but they wanted to sell you a piece of the action. Once we turned it down it was like we didn't exist. I made a point to speak to them everytime I saw them just so they would have to speak in return. Maybe that's the way you wanted them to be toward anyone who wasn't interested in buying don't know.... Overall all I loved my time there. The shows were wonderful, late for OLD folks but worth the loss of sleep. Will probably return!!

We traveled with six people in our group. We all upgraded to the Junior Suite - which was no better than the standard room at the "resort". the room was set back so far that we had a 7-10 minute walk every time we left the room to go anywhere. We asked for a late checkout and the woman behind the counter, Obeyda, was rude, not willing to help, and snotty. The food was okay, same stuff every single day - we rarely saw anything new hit the buffet line. The service at the restaurants and bars were VERY poor. There was ONE pool lady to get two resorts worth of people drinks, since the resorts are connected. When she went on holiday, no one was there to take her place. This was the most expensive, all-inclusive resort we stayed at (compared to Cabo four times, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Acapulco) and we all regret paying what we did for bad service, mediocre food, rude staff members, etc. After seven days, we were all ready to come home - which has never been the case during our other travels. Frontier Airlines - TERRIBLE. The charge for every little thing they possibly can. No complimentary food, snacks, or beverages on the plane. In fact, a single Coke can was $2.99. The flight attendants were fine but didn't go out of their way to say "hi" or make your experience any better. The captain seemed great (never actually saw or met him), joked around because we landed nearly 45 minutes early landing in both Punta Cana and Chicago. When we landed in Chicago, we made it through customs and to the baggage claim where we waited almost two hours before our checked bags made it down. This wasn't a busy time of day, seeing as how we landed at 9:30 p.m.

Food was only fair. Shower facilities were just ok. Prestige package was worth the money, except the hotel location was farthest from the pool and the beach. If you had a drink in the main lobby, not all was free, as was advertised.

Iberostar Punta Cana - All Inclusive booked through Apple

We were fairly disappointed that we didn't get many of the things that were promised to us by the Apple Reservations employee. No swim up bar access, there was one, but only at the Bavaro. Needed to make dinner reservations and we were limited to 3 for the trip, not as described by reservation representative. Beach wasn't private, not as described. There were not many activities for teenagers, we were told there was a dance/disco for 12-17, it didn't exist. I won't be using Apple Vacations in the future. We paid $11K and we didn't get what was promised.

Horrible experience overall at this resort. Poison in the food. Mold all over the room. Water didnt work.

If it wasn’t for Carlos at Apple Vacations we would have flown home early. The fried food tasted and smelled like gas or kerosene. Our showers didn’t work after we paid hundreds to upgrade to a room with less mold. The hotel manager offered us free massages and passes to the Bavaro with another offer tbd while the Apple representative was there. When we went back to get it she refused and wanted to just give us $200 to spend in the store. We didn’t accept until she at least gave us the upgrade to stop eating poison food and the massages. This was the worst vacation we’ve ever experienced and we vacation 4 times a year. Also it took 4 days for them to make our toilet flush. The beach chairs are all taken by 8:00 am and forget pool chairs. The only good thing about the Iberostar Punta Cana was the wait staff. The cleaning people left decaf coffee daily and never conditioner even after several requests for them. I would highly recommend the Bavaro but stay far away from the Punta Cana and Dominicana.

Very relaxing and fun getaway with family and friends

Let me say, i have read many many reviews before and after my stay at this resort. This is a true representation of what to expect at this resort. Booked this resort for a getaway with my wife and 16 yr old son with good friends joining us 2 days later. First, i recommend getting private transport from the airport. Dominican plus was easy and cheap. We arrived at the resort and check in couldnt have been easier. Our only issue is that we tried to book our 3 ala carte reservations in a hurry. The gentleman helping wasnt really that accommodating, but ended up getting 3 reservations. We ended up making changes when are friends came later in the week We had a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the garden. 2 full beds, nothing special although clean. AC worked fine and we had a large ceiling fan. Went to the beach and by the time we came back another bed was placed in our room....we never asked for it. We were thrilled as the beds are only full and my wife is a bed hog, so we each got our own bed. They were all comfortable and had great sleep each night. I would recommend bringing along an electric strip given that we have so many electronics and there were only 3 open outlets. The bathroom was clean and the only issue was low water pressure, but we dealt with it. The grounds...kept up immaculately, very beautiful. Pools had plenty of loungers, but recommend getting up early to reserve your spots. We did this and had no issues. The pools were close by a small bar and 2 buffet restaurants so we never went hungry. beach was pretty and also with plenty of loungers. i will say, they need to upgrade many of them as they were a bit old. Again, not a game changer for us. The entertainment staff had plenty of activities for kids and adults alike. They were all very personable, fun and wanted everyone to have a great time. The shows at night were ok, not really my thing, but fun nonetheless. The circus show at the beach was really really good The staff.. waiter and bartenders were great. Shout out to Hamlet at the Higuey buffet He was the best waiter we had on any of our dozen Caribbean vacations . Such a great guy, took great care of us every morning and evening. Also Fransisco at the lobby bar in the Dominicana...he was terrific as well. Food was ok, breakfast being the best. Dinners were ok, lots of choices, fish was good, meats so so. Remember, you dont go to an all inclusive for the food. I did really like the dried sausages they had each day...rivaling most good italian dried sausages. If you go hungry you are too picky and its your own fault. I do recommend going to the buffet earlier rather than later. Some of the food dried out the closer you got to closing Ala carte restaurants..French restaurant...plain awful would NOT recommend it. Seafood restaurant was adequate. The steak restaurant was surprisingly good. Get the ribeye, its a bit thin, but tender and flavorful. The top sirloin was definitely tough...remember, this is NOT the steak you are used to in the states. Casino needs to be updated and definitely not a selling point. Too smoky, old and just not fun. If you want to gamble, go the hard rock casino....thats what a casino should be Gym was amazing and my wife loved taking many classes with Samantha. She was an absolute doll. Overall, i would give our stay a 4 star out of 5. it looks a little dated, but was beautiful nonetheless, well maintained. It was not as large as many of the other Punta Cana resorts which is definitely a selling point for us. There is plenty to do for everyone, young kids, teens and adults. The weather was a perfect 84 degrees with no humidity during our entire stay. We would not hesitate to return to this resort again

Wonderful staff, beautiful grounds..needs improvement

We just returned from a 7 night, 8 day stay at Iberostar Punta Cana. We upgraded to the family room which was awesome for having our younger children with us as they had their own room connected with a shared bathroom. If you are traveling in the next week or 2 be aware the second pool is under renovation and our entire last day was filled with jackhammers, drills and the smell of gasoline engines running. Pros: Amazing staff. Maria at the pool, “I love you, baby” grabs drinks and delivers right to your chair or poolside. Heidy with the kids program is OUTSTANDING. Highly recommend this resort for their children’s program and caring staff. Beautiful Grounds: staff constantly maintaining the grounds, freshly manicures daily, handed a fresh coconut after breakfast and shared with the family. Animacíon/ Shows: decent, entertaining but run late making it a long day for the younger crowd. They do have children’s shows prior, but my kids 8 and 10 are in the cusp of wanting to do both. Animation staff is amazing, keep guests engaged all day! Housekeeping: always had a very clean room. Towel animals/designs daily with fresh flowers was a great aesthetic. Cons: Air conditioning needs a revamp. Rooms are moist and warm. Difficult to sleep comfortably at night. Food: edible, only restaurant worthwhile was Maria Bonita, the Mexican Restaurant. All others were a waste of time, LaCana, the steakhouse ordered medium rare steak and it was like leather. Japanese restaurant did not give us a reservation until 9 pm and my kids literally fell asleep at the table. There 7 days, only got 3 reservations, but that’s okay, don’t feel like we missed anything at the others based on the ones we did eat at. Buffet is repetitive, food is bland. Was hoping for more authentic flavors and bold tasting food. Rooms: somewhat dated and overall showing wear and tear from use over the years. Beds were comfortable. Pool/beach chairs: despite signs saying “saving chairs is not allowed” you need to save your spot by the beach/ocean by 6:30 am if you want anything to sit on. That makes it difficult to sleep in or relax on “vacation” Unstated renovations: happy to see the resort renovating and maintaining facilities, however, the sound of jackhammers, drills, and smell of gasoline engines running ruined our last day at the resort. Feeling bad for those staying longer. Resort reviews were pushed on us the night prior to construction during dinner, obviously to get the positive feedback prior to the construction beginning. A gigantic 8 foot plywood wall was built overnight and construction began at 8am. Virtually unable to get a seat at the pool due to “lack of real estate” Beach vendors: aggressive and try to sell you their services. A simple no usually works, but some are more persistent than others. Overall impression: I have stayed at Iberostar Resorts in the past and would likely return, just not to this site in particular based on my cons listed above.

Interesting visit to the Caribbean

Good hotel, large grounds beautifully kept, all within one complex including the other hotels. Have used Iberostar before and up to usual standard. Flew with BA, 8 hours is just right and upgrade to Premium Economy is worth doing, Transfers all ok and nice welcome drink on arrival. Given ground floor rooms as had children with us and interconnecting rooms. Felt a little damp at first as faced north so no sun at all but all ok. Faced the restaurants and had a small stage near us so could hear the music in the evening as we were getting changed, but all finished by 11pm. Did not sit out on the patio once as nicer to sit in the bars. Rooms a little dated but adequate. Lots of Restaurants but book as soon as you get there. Could use 3 for week we were there. Tried Japanese which was nice, and Star Rock which was just ok. Seemed to be same food as in the Buffet but just presented differently. Did not use the third booking as found the Buffet was just as good. Enough said!! Particularly liked the lunchtime choice by the beach, lots of salads. Smoothies in the morning are freshly made and very nice, as are the omelettes. Lots of choice of everything. Found the drinks and cocktails more professionally made at the evening bars. Ones on the beach, as bars are so busy, more out of a bottle. Ice cream cones also served. Lots of entertainment/shows and music in the evenings. Very humid and warm all the time and great to walk around in T shirt and shorts. Very casual dress code. Pools were ok. Lots of activities going on with music played most of the time. We went on the beach most days, which was quieter. Lots of sun beds and umbrella shades available. This stretch of beach has lots of hotels on it so people constantly walking along it but sun beds set far enough back. If wanting the quiet, gentle clear waters lapping on golden sands, this is not the place. But we found it was good fun. We were there in August so cloudy on some days but this made for good waves to jump in the sea. No snorkelling available, it is too cloudy. Did try the kayaks one day. Seaweed was noticeable, one day there was nothing, the next day there was lots. Hotel staff very good at clearing it each day, tractors on the beach were entertaining to watch. If a storm came in, it would go very windy, then very dark, and you had about 5 mins. to find shelter before heavy rain arrived, but only lasted about 15 mins. Only had one afternoon of rain in week we were there. When it was sunny it is very hot, take plenty of sun lotion. Not sure if every weekend or just in August but it did get very busy on Sat./Sun. as local families have access in, so no sun beds available and really busy in the Buffet. Back to normal again on Monday but helps keep the price down and provides local employment. Had golf mad son with us so hotel arranged for us to visit golf course on the complex. About 5 mins. by complimentary taxi. Very accommodating. Used the driving range, clubs and balls provided. Have to wear collared polo shirt but they lent us one. Really beautiful course but we were only ones on it so felt a bit sterile. Maybe as it was August. Overall a nice relaxing holiday, a week was just enough. Not sure if we felt we saw the true Caribbean. Would go back though to DR to different part and resort as people very friendly, and welcoming, and felt safe, and it was beautiful.

best vacation ever

The people were friendly, and really made the trip amazing. My travel representative Tony Sainteloi was great. He help with booking the most informative and enjoyable activities while I was at the resort. He made the trip very enjoyable.

This resort is absolutely breath taking. Our check in process was fast and hassle free. We didnt experience the sales pitch that others had. We loved strolling the grounds and watching the various bird species. The pools are large and the water never felt crowded. We did have to wake up early to secure two chairs together but that can be said of any resort. The beach was well maintained and while there was seaweed in the water, what can one really expect? The shows were super fun and entertaining, not the usual resort fare. The buffets always had a great variety and the food was fresh and yummy. The only reason this resort doesnt get all 5 stars from me is the bed situation. My husband and I both had trouble sleeping due to the sagging beds. Our room had 2 queens so we tried switching beds but both were old and saggy. Overall we both agreed this was our favorite resort of all our trips thus far. If you're looking for a beautiful setting with a laid back atmosphere this place is it.
