We were very disappointed in this hotel especially when it was rated a golden Apple resort, which is suppose to be better than the standard red apple ratings! The food was awful, the hotel is old, in our room everything felt cool and clammy (sheets, towels clothes, etc) I assume due to their air conditioning system. We had adjoining rooms and the room the kids were in the AC barley was cool. We had to have our shower serviced and the TV only had a few clear stations. For the amount of money we spent on this vacation, we were very disappointed, to say the least!

From the time that the bags were checked in Punta Cana and claimed in St Louis and brought home, the luggage had been ransacked and gone through and left a mess and many pieces of jewelry were missing

Would highly recommend this resort. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were immaculate, always working and keeping the landscape trimmed. Food was great, so many choices everyday. Would definitely come back!

Very nice resort..............didn't want to buy into another resort

The resort was very nice. Our housekeeper Elba was extremely nice made us different animals & such every day & the rooms were cleaned. The food was mostly the same no matter what resort you went to. I guess the only thing I didn't like was them wanting you to buy into another resort..I went to just relax and enjoy being pampered for a week but they wanted to sell you a piece of the action. Once we turned it down it was like we didn't exist. I made a point to speak to them everytime I saw them just so they would have to speak in return. Maybe that's the way you wanted them to be toward anyone who wasn't interested in buying don't know.... Overall all I loved my time there. The shows were wonderful, late for OLD folks but worth the loss of sleep. Will probably return!!

We traveled with six people in our group. We all upgraded to the Junior Suite - which was no better than the standard room at the "resort". the room was set back so far that we had a 7-10 minute walk every time we left the room to go anywhere. We asked for a late checkout and the woman behind the counter, Obeyda, was rude, not willing to help, and snotty. The food was okay, same stuff every single day - we rarely saw anything new hit the buffet line. The service at the restaurants and bars were VERY poor. There was ONE pool lady to get two resorts worth of people drinks, since the resorts are connected. When she went on holiday, no one was there to take her place. This was the most expensive, all-inclusive resort we stayed at (compared to Cabo four times, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Acapulco) and we all regret paying what we did for bad service, mediocre food, rude staff members, etc. After seven days, we were all ready to come home - which has never been the case during our other travels. Frontier Airlines - TERRIBLE. The charge for every little thing they possibly can. No complimentary food, snacks, or beverages on the plane. In fact, a single Coke can was $2.99. The flight attendants were fine but didn't go out of their way to say "hi" or make your experience any better. The captain seemed great (never actually saw or met him), joked around because we landed nearly 45 minutes early landing in both Punta Cana and Chicago. When we landed in Chicago, we made it through customs and to the baggage claim where we waited almost two hours before our checked bags made it down. This wasn't a busy time of day, seeing as how we landed at 9:30 p.m.

Food was only fair. Shower facilities were just ok. Prestige package was worth the money, except the hotel location was farthest from the pool and the beach. If you had a drink in the main lobby, not all was free, as was advertised.

Iberostar Punta Cana - All Inclusive booked through Apple

We were fairly disappointed that we didn't get many of the things that were promised to us by the Apple Reservations employee. No swim up bar access, there was one, but only at the Bavaro. Needed to make dinner reservations and we were limited to 3 for the trip, not as described by reservation representative. Beach wasn't private, not as described. There were not many activities for teenagers, we were told there was a dance/disco for 12-17, it didn't exist. I won't be using Apple Vacations in the future. We paid $11K and we didn't get what was promised.

If it wasn’t for Carlos at Apple Vacations we would have flown home early. The fried food tasted and smelled like gas or kerosene. Our showers didn’t work after we paid hundreds to upgrade to a room with less mold. The hotel manager offered us free massages and passes to the Bavaro with another offer tbd while the Apple representative was there. When we went back to get it she refused and wanted to just give us $200 to spend in the store. We didn’t accept until she at least gave us the upgrade to stop eating poison food and the massages. This was the worst vacation we’ve ever experienced and we vacation 4 times a year. Also it took 4 days for them to make our toilet flush. The beach chairs are all taken by 8:00 am and forget pool chairs. The only good thing about the Iberostar Punta Cana was the wait staff. The cleaning people left decaf coffee daily and never conditioner even after several requests for them. I would highly recommend the Bavaro but stay far away from the Punta Cana and Dominicana.

Staff was friendly from check in to check out. Damien was great about getting us restaurant reservations, Mignolia gave us wonderful service in the buffet and Robert was so friendly at the outdoor buffet. The grounds were well kept and the beach was beautiful. We had no complaints and would recommend this resort to anyone.

A week in Paradise

We have stayed here for a week in January two years in a row. We traveled as a group of 6. The grounds are beautiful and the people are extremely friendly and accommodating. If you go, make your dinner reservations as quickly as you are able. If not, you may not be able to get the time/restaurant you want. You, can, however always eat at the buffet which is excellent. Our favorite waiter, Ortiz, works there, and he is amazing.

Multiple Family visit
Jordansteel,
Sat Mar 16 07:01:55 EDT 2019
We visited with multiple families for spring break. We were looking for an easy, budget friendly experience. We went into it knowing the food may be our greatest sacrifice. Here are the pros and cons of our 5 day experience: PROS -Punta Cana is beautiful -The beach area is naturally beautiful (make sure you get out early to secure chairs. People are respectful once you lay out towels.) They have big thatch umbrells which provide lots of shade if you want. -The fitness facility is AMAZING! Best of any place we’ve ever visited in any budget. The classes are incredible. The staff is well trained, professional and classes run all morning every day. I cannot overstate the quality. -The staff in general. From the front desk, to housekeeping, to the wait staff, to the maintenance crew, all were truly giving their all. Friendly, helpful, prompt. -The whole place feels safe. We had a group of kids ages 9-15. They stayed together but covered every inch of the property. CONS -The food. There is a lot of it, but it’s not good. Again, we knew we would sacrifice here but didn’t expect the quality to be as low as it was. The restaurants aren’t any better than the buffet. We were told we could only make 2 reservations and truly that’s fine because the quality isn’t any better. - coffee...they need a few coffee stations around the property. There was a small coffee maker in the room but only decaf in all of our rooms. They may have given regular if we asked. But they need coffee bars set up around the property in the morning. It’s big and kind of a pain to go to the main area. - bar offerings. They ran out of gold tequila on the second day. The beach bar ran out of soda on our third day. All the specialty drinks are from mixes...and the mixes aren’t good. - the rooms could use a little freshening up. Overall we felt like we got what we paid for. If the food had been edible, we would have given a much higher review.

Family trip
TD16062904, Montreal, Canada
Mon Mar 11 14:08:12 EDT 2019
We traveled as a family of 4, with two children aged 1 and 3. We had a room on the second floor with a pretty view but elevator rarely worked so we had to lug the stroller up and down the stairs. Grounds are beautiful as is the beach. The ocean was a bit rough for our kids so we spent a lot of time at the pool, however had we been there as a couple most of our time would have been spent at the beach! The pool was clean and has shallow parts that made it easy for the kids to get in and out. The food was good as were the a la cartes. A bit repetitive towards the end of the weeks. We had a nice week and would go back however the only hiccup was that my 1 year old contracted hand foot and mouth disease while there. Not sure if it is the high chairs or the crib but it put a bit of a damper on our week.

Not going back to Dominican Republic again!

ROOMS - This resort is very dated & really needs remodeling (LIGHTS & outlets) . No cute towel animals on the beds but everything was very clean. We were 3 women & could only get 1 wash cloth & 2 hand towels but plenty bath towels. I tracked down the maids every day but the last to get more wash cloths! The hair dryer didn't work (fixed), the TV didn't work (fixed twice ( then gave up!), the bathtub backed up.There were only 2 chairs on the porch (corrected by Miguel at check-in desk), 2 coffee cups, 2 beers in the fridge.Had trouble getting sufficient beers & water for 3 adults (? all inclusive?) There was no phone or events directory. Evening shows supposed to be posted at the towel shack but done only twice in 7 days. One day we came back from an excursion to find a large round wet spot on our bed. Took 3 hours to get changed out bedding. FOOD - It was fair to poor. Seafood was almost non-existant (actual seafood gourmet restaurant was unable to eat - god awful - we got up & left). Every buffet & lunch spots all served the same! The Steakhouse was very good but tables are on sand so don't wear good shoes! Not much was labeled at the buffets. We have been to 2 Iberastar resorts in Mexico (Toucan & Lindo - both were awesome!) & I expected the same here. My mistake & won't do it again!! Grounds were beautiful & well maintained. The entertainment staff around the pool were great! I was disappointed there was no foam pool party as promised by Management (Natalia). She didn't do much to correct other things either. Could hardly get a chair at the pool after 7 a.m. \

A real, honest review
Emalie N,
Sun Mar 03 14:56:25 EST 2019
Here is an honest, real review. Checkin: 1/5. Arrived at 3pm when checkin starts. Took about 20 minutes to get through everything and then we’re told our room wasn’t ready, why don’t we get something to eat. Walked down to the beach (in our warm clothes Bc we were traveling from Ohio) and got something to drink. Walked back up and at 3:50, sorry, the room still isn’t ready. No sincere apology, no offer to comp a night, truly the beginning of the entire staff’s attitude of “you should be thanking us that you are here.” Room: 2/5. at 4:10 we finally got into our room - king size bed that we paid extra for - and what a dump. The outlets were falling out of the walls, the depth from the floor to the inside of the tub is a full 12 inches with no handle to help you balance (getting in and out was a lawsuit waiting to happen). The bed rolled when we sat on it, there was no fitted sheet on the bed, just a layer of regular sheets. The paint was chipping, it was loud as heck... the only reason I didn’t give it a 1 is because it was clean. The cleaning staff was excellent - I never saw a single bug or even a speck of sand after they cleaned. I gave them a generous tip when we left. Buffet: 1/5. Total bait and switch on this one. The reason I chose the resort is because they touted 2 buffets - and 2 restaurants/cafes by the beach for lunch. THEY ALL SERVED THE SAME THING!!!!! If I had know this, we wouldn’t have chosen this resort to begin with. The food was awful and half the time it wasn’t labeled, which I find irresponsible. The wait staff looks miserable and stands around taking to each other. Did I mention the food was horrid? On the 2nd day, I had a chicken burger and I swear the outside of he burger was charred like crazy but he inside was raw. I lost weight while on the trip. Restaurants: 3/5. The evening restaurants were the better food of the trip, but getting a reservation for the restaurant and time you want is harder than passing universal healthcare in Congress. We were turned away the first night from a 3/4 empty restaurant because we didn’t have a reservation. Due to dietary restrictions, we only ate at the rock star cafe, steakhouse (which is on sand, don’t get dressed up) and the Mexican restaurant. Food was good there, but again, wait staff couldn’t care less. Pool/Beach: 3/5. Pool needs a swim up Bar. I just assumed they had one - which resort doesn’t!? Beach is nice. People reserve chairs starting at 6am so you have to get there early to get the chairs you want. Would have been 4/5 if there was a swim up bar, even just to get some water. I don’t even drink! Entertainment: 1/5. Basically non-existent. Every resort I’ve ever been to shares the activities for the day- bingo, Zumba, the evening show. Here, nothing. No communication. I got to play bingo one day because I happened to be sitting in the pool area when someone with a sign came by. We had to ask the front desk every night what the show was and THEY didn’t know. Overall: We almost left. The morning after we checked in and realized that the buffet was the most awful food we have ever tasted, we called Southwest Vacations, talked to the manager, etc. The ONLY - and I mean ONLY - reason we didn’t leave was because we will not get another chance to vacation this year and we refused to pack up again to be shuffled to another hotel without Iberostar refunding ya for the awful 24 hours. And we just flew 12 hours and didn’t want to do it the next day. It was our 5 year anniversary and come he’ll or high water, we were going to enjoy ourselves in spite of the surroundings. We accepted that by trying to be frugal and financially responsible, we had booked the “spirit airlines” of resorts. So, we had fun together, enjoying each other’s company away from the snow. Overall 2/5. We will never, ever go to another Iberostar property and will think 3 and 4 times before booking a property whose price seems too good to be true.
