I have been to this resort four times which means I like it. The issue is some of the staff the front desk particularly. They were rude as when asked for a different room was basically told this is what is assigned at live with it. I have been to Mexico multiple times so I know the drill. I also want to call out one waitress at that was at the Japanese restaurant. I was told her name was Jessi. Not sure if she was having a bad day but are entire table was in shock as when anybody asked for anything water, beer a napkin. First they never showed and if they did it was an inconvenience. I have waited a few weeks to write the review keeping emotions out. Still like the hotel just expected better service based on other Mexico, Punta Cana Iberostar hotels I have been too.

short weekend trip was very good

A family friendly hotel,The staff is absolutely fantastic all over the resort. We were in the oceanfront units. view very good however long walk to main building and restaurants. Japanese restaurant was a blast (food & service ) recommend reservations. rooms are nicely appointed. We had a very pleasant stay. Five nights would be perfect.

We visited with 2 other couples. This is the third Iberostar I have stayed at and the size is perfect. Some are so large it can be hard to navigate. This location was not and the service impeccable, food great and we can't wait to return.

It was "ok"

So my family and I travel here from the 12th of June to the 19th. We were very excited once we got off the plane to be in Mexico and looking forward to our week ahead.. Once we got the resort we were upgraded to an ocean view room. If you left your sliding door open watch out cause the floor with the humidity was very slick.. My husband and I almost fell a few times.. we got in the habit of if we walked out on the balcony not to leave the door open at all. If you are looking for great food this is not the place. The food was just ok. The best food we had our whole stay was the bar down by the beach and the Steak night. otherwise it was ok. The service from time to time at the buffets were awful. Very slow took forever to get drinks or if they host sat you sometime the waiter/waitress didn't even know you were there. We ended up getting our own drinks by the end of the week. By the pool bar...The drinks were ok but my husband did see one day by the pool bar the one of the bartenders filling the vodka bottle with water. that kinda pisses you off when you pay quite a bit of money for all inclusive. The beach was pretty nice for the area you could walk a long way since there were no other resorts close by it was a quite walk. the only complaint I have about the beach is the vendors walking up to you every 5 minutes trying to get you to by something. I think after you tell them no once they should not bother you again. The fee for taxi rides is completely RIDICULOUS.. we were a family of 5 and if you could not fit in a car you had to get a suburban or a van and they charge you double for that 5th person. I have been to a few resorts and the excursion companys have always provided the transportation to and from what ever you chose to do.. NOT HERE... it was $125.00 round trip for us to go about 30 mins from the resort.. INSANE PRICE!!! On to the staff... we met some pretty amazing people that we enjoyed all week.. The best bartender you have there is Jorge!!! if is was not for him at the pool bar most days we probably would have not hung around much by the pool.. the entertainment staff was also great.. Alejandra was great with my kids and to our family. The kids looked forward to playing water volleyball with her the first few days we were there then she had a few days off and Oswaldo took over and her was great also. This is the 2nd time we have stayed at an iberostar.. The resorts you have are beautiful but you lack in the food dept for us. But you we do enjoy your staff!!! My husband said it is time to try other resorts other then just the iberostars.

First Time Stay at All Inclusive Resort with Family

We read a ton of reviews while planning our trip to Puerto Vallarta and valued the information everyone gave on Trip Advisor so I thought it was time to give my two cents! Just got home from a 5 night stay at Iberostar Playa Mita. Our group included 4 adults and 4 kids under 6. Safety: This was my number one concern when planning a trip to Mexico with kids. From when we arrived at the Puerto Vallarta Airport (very clean airport, I was impressed) to the transportation we had previously arranged (TPV) to arrival at the resort (double gated entrance), I felt very safe and comfortable. Resort: SO PRETTY! The pictures online don't do it justice. Its huge, clean and constantly being maintained. There are so many little seating areas with beautiful scenery. Our kids were very entertained by the pond with the "alligator" and turtles/fish. Very impressed with the common area restrooms. With all our little ones, you can imagine how much time we spent going on restroom runs. From the restaurant to the pool to the beach bathrooms, all were very clean and nice. Room: Clean and fairly updated. Nothing special but I wouldn't say drab or anything like that. We spent some time in the rooms due to the kids naps and relatively early bedtimes but were fine with being in there. The bathrooms were a little small but more than enough room/shelving for our toiletries/hanging wet clothes, etc. Only downside to our room was due to the humidity. We upgraded to ocean front (well worth it) but if we left the sliding glass door open for more than a few seconds, the tile flooring became so slippery that you really had to watch your step! Not a deal breaker but kind of a bummer since it would have been nice to have the door open more. Service: The best service was from the drink waitresses and servers in the restaurants and buffetts. They were all very friendly and bent over backward to help us! The housekeepers were very sweet (when we saw them). The bartenders as a group were a bit disappointing. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad at all but I thought the bartenders could have been a lot nicer. The best bartenders are at the swim up bar. All the other bartenders barely said hello or ask how our trip was going. I was surprised based on all the reviews I read about the bar service. Food: Was pretty good! The buffets had a bunch of options and variety everyday. Some food items just didnt taste like what we are used to in the US (cheese, specifically!) but after a few days, you figure out what you like/don't like and go with it/avoid it. The kids were always able to find food items they liked at each meal. We liked the breakfast buffet best. The restaurants were decent....we were able to get reservations to the French, Japanese and Mexican restaurants. The food was all ok but I wouldn't say the same caliber as an American "nice" restaurant. But we all enjoyed the experiences and the décor in each restaurant was really cool! Loved the coffee shop near the lobby. So convenient to have a spot for coffee, sandwiches and treats. the baristas there were very nice too. Water: I haven't traveled to Mexico in a long time but I always remembered to not drink the water. I assumed the Iberostar used filtered water but didn't read many reviews about it either way. The water was perfectly fine....brushing teeth, shower, pool (we told the kids not to drink the water but I'm sure they did). The bottled water is really good and the water served at the restaurants is good too. Reservations: Very frustrating! We booked reservations immediately upon arriving. Apparently the resort was very full so getting time slots for 4-8 people before 8 pm was nearly impossible. I was understanding, though, based on our large group. But then upon arriving for said reservations, the restaurants were barely half full! I assume people may have booked then not showed up? Drinks: Maybe this should have been the first topic to review? haha There were a surprising number of liquor options for vodka, run, tequila. You need to order a specific brand or else the bartenders will use the cheapest kind. It took us a couple days to realize that we liked it best when we told the bartenders exactly how to make the drink we wanted. They were fine with this too. If you are used to having a cocktail here and there, you will definitely need to order everything with a double shot. We have a feeling the liquor bottles are watered down a bit so a drink with one shot barely has alcohol in it. I really dont blame the resort for this based on how much people drink and how many drinks are ordered and not drank. A couple people in our group brought their own drink containers and the bartenders were totally cool with filling them up. The red wine was terrible! I don't even know what it was but not good AT ALL. The white wine was just ok and the champagne was pretty good. There is other wine available for purchase. Only name I recognized was Columbia Crest but it was crazy expensive for a wine you could purchase for $10 in the US. I get it, a resort will upcharge that but I was a little bummed to not get to drink much wine during the trip. Entertainment: The resort did an amazing job with this. There were a lot of activities going on at all times but without feeling too much. I would recommend looking at a schedule when you arrive so you can plan out what you want to do. There is yoga, dancing, water aerobics, bingo and probably more everyday. Then there are other activities planned for specific days. We didn't partake in many of these but now I wish we would have! The nightly entertainment is great. Fun music and dancing show. Each night a little different. We kept the kids up late to watch a few of them and they were totally entertained. The performers would cruise around the resort a few hours before the show and take pictures with guests. There was a Mexico themed evening and they had carnival games and activities set up in the main common area. So cool! Kids Club: We only had one child in our group who was old enough to attend the club. He only did it once (we were way to busy at the pool!) but had a lot of fun when we was in there. The people who work there are very nice. Pools: We spent most of our time at the kids pool. Which is AMAZING! Bigger than I thought it would be with a lot of fun things for the kids to climb on and slide down. Our 5 year old and 3 year olds had so much fun there for hours every day. The water is a foot or so deep so we weren't worried about them at all without floaties. Lots of shaded seating for adults. The other pools were big and nice. Very clean with plenty of seating. Beach: Lots of chairs and umbrellas on the sand. The beach was clean and water warm. vendors walked up and down the beach selling knick knacks, clothes, jewelry, etc. They weren't too pushy so that was good. There is a bar and hamburger grille area right next to the beach which was so convenient! The burgers and fries were YUM, we had one about every day. All in all, it was a great trip! Like I said, we haven't stayed at an all inclusive before so I cant compare it to anything but it seemed pretty good. Would definitely consider coming back in the future.
