Great resort!

We stayed at Iberostar Grand Rose Hall in early May for a week. Everything was fantastic, from the food to the drinks to the entertainment. We have been to many all-inclusives and this one is at the top of the list. All of the liquor was top shelf, and the food was excellent. The best thing about the resort, however, is definitely the staff. They were all very friendly and made sure that we were having a great time. We were particularly fond of Renea and Akeem from the activities staff, Melisa and Renay in the lobby bar, Gawayne by the pool, Jodian and Kellesia who brought us drinks at the pool, and Chadwick and William, the bellmen. The restaurants were all good. One point of confusion was that it was suggested to us that we make dinner reservations in advance of arriving. However, we were told by the hotel that they wouldn't have the restaurant schedule until the Saturday we arrived. It all worked out well and we were able to eat at all the places we wanted to. The Japanese restaurant was probably our favorite. Kirby did a great job on the hibachi and kept us entertained. One note: the dinner took almost 2 hours, which we didn't mind at all, but it would have been nice to have expected that. We would definitely return and recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Montego Bay. More>

Beautiful Room in the Adults Only Section.

We stayed at Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall for our first visit to Jamaica. The room we had was one of the top three I've ever stayed in. It was simply beautiful. The housekeeping staff in this hotel did a topnotch job. Our room was spotless. Our original reservation was for one of the other sections of this hotel. When we arrived there was the normal "stuff" about the room is not ready, blah, blah, blah. They lobby was pretty busy with kids running around and screaming. I was not impressed, at all. Then the clerk informed me that there was a adults only section and he could move us there for an upgrade fee. The upgrade fee was ridiculous but we paid for and were happy to do so, i did not want to spend the entire week with all that racket. So we paid the money. Went out and waited to be transferred to the other section. Upon arrival it was a entirely different experience. Quiet luxury , we were given a towel and beverage to combat the hot Jamaican temperature. No problems with rooms being available here. We were checked in and escorted to our room. All was right with the world . The room, bathroom, and ocean front balcony were gorgeous. Our butler was nice. Unfortunately we experienced the same things as other guests. He was not necessarily dependable when asked for something. Unless you were able to sit right there and make sure it was done. We utilized the onsite dive shop, Dressler's, a lot. They were fantastic, costly but worth it. They are located at the other side of the hotel (family side). It was quite a hike when you were finished diving, That was the only times i kind of wished we were staying in the other section. But that was short lived. The diving was ok but not all that great. They whole area was pretty uninteresting. The food was good for the most part. Their buffets offered a varied and decent food selection. The fine dining places were good. We ate lunch at a restaurant on the family side one day it wasn't very good. We found most of the hotel staff were pretty much on super 'island time". Frankly, that is why i wont stay at this hotel again. I was for the most part unimpressed with staff performance. We spent a great deal of money and that should dictate a certain level of service. One other thing happened when we were there that left a bitter taste in my mouth. We went on a night time boat ride to see the "glowing water". Midway through our trip we stopped for a bathroom break. The two staff got off with a group of tourist apparently to get weed. They all got back on the boat and proceed to get high. My husband just retired ( to run our business ) from DHS and we wanted no part of it. Normally we would just remove ourselves from the situation . The only problem was we were on a boat .... In the ocean . I actually spoke to a front desk clerk the next morning and they just blew me off. So I dropped it. It was just an awkward situation. I did go off the resort one time the shuttle took me to a nearby tourist mall. It was quiet with some higher end shops. It was ok. I didn't bother going off the resort again. Overall it was a nice stay. I don't anticipate staying there again. More>

Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall almost perfect

Spent 6 days, 5 nights, at the gorgeous Iberostar Hotel. The rooms were big, clean, terrific beds, huge bathrooms, great balcony overlooking the ocean. I would definitely recommend the oceanview room. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. They are all warm, friendly, most with a good sense of humour, fun to be around. The food was very good, just had one or two chewy moments but only with the lamb. The fish was fresh and lots of variety. We enjoyed the steak at their steak and lobster restaurant (although not the time of year to get lobster as they are protected). The ocean is about a 1/2 mile long so good for a decent walk back and forth. The pools are great and there are lots of seats with shade to get a rest from the sun, both there and by the ocean. The only reason i didn't give the hotel 5 stars, and would hesitate returning, was due to a very loud alarm going off 3 days in a row at 6AM. The last day it blasted 33 times. We counted as there was no way to sleep through this. Despite 3 or 4 calls to the front desk, and speaking to an asst. manager, 2 times going to the front desk, no one seemed to be able to explain why this kept happening. Supposedly they were working on it. It was never fixed. As this is our one chance to sleep in until 8 am, and we were up late at the shows (which were fun), it was really disappointing to have to get up that early 3 days in a row. We came home very tired. Beware the chat at the front desk unless you want to spend some time in a vacation ownership meeting - although the lady said they weren't selling anything, luckily later someone gave us the true scoop and we didn't lose any of our valuable vacation time. Great hotel just not the best trip for us due to the sleeping situation. More>

This is indeed a "Grand" resort. The premises are beautiful. The set up of the multiple pools is great. They are so large that you never feel crowded. The beach is large and spacious. The staff is very gracious and accommodating. Fenton and Abigail were both great. The only problem we faced was their confusion in setting up our reservations for the ala carte restaurants. These need to be made immediately upon arrival or you will not get into the restaurants. The key is to get these done through the concierge. BE SURE TO GET WRITTEN CONFIRMAION. The ala carte restaurant food was exceptionally good. The buffets are good with a very large selection of choices. We would give a five star rating except for the reservation problems that we encountered. Otherwise, highly recommended. More>

Just came back from Montego Bay and I had a nice relaxing time. We stayed at iberostar grand rose hall. I was a little disappointed in the place. The grounds are kept immaculate the rooms are clean but it need a lot of repairs inside the hotel. You find that the walls in the hallway is all chipped. The food in the buffet was always the same time thing wether it was for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Very limited in what they serve. However the Italian restaurant and surf and turf was great. With the Japanese restaurant it's disappointing you ask for one thing and dint get it, that was my experience. Overall I gave them a 3 star not 5. However the staff are very caring and absolutely very friendly. Jamaican people are very kind love them. My husband and I went to the rum Tour we were picked up by Norris from real tours and let me tell you it was a nice day out we got to visit a few places around Montego Bay I really enjoyed it and if I go back to Jamaica I will defenately cal Norris again More>
