The staff was excellent, the hotel is dated, I did get sick, we heard more Michael jackson then reggae, reminded us of a party resort, way to many stupid drunk people. The food was really good but because of the sickness it got a good rating.

Got stuck in the worst room
BRITTANY B.

We arrived hoping to have an excellent experience. We even upgraded from an ocean view to an ocean front. Well, we understand rooms have to be cleaned, so we didn't mind the wait. We want to the bar to get drinks, well upon entering the room, there was a moldy smell and the floor was wet. Then, the minibar wasn't stocked. It took 3 calls=3 hours for someone to finally come and stock it. We were right about the mold, all in the bathroom, on the wall. You could see where they attempted to paint over it. If you ever stay at the Iberostar Grand, and they give you room 6117, request a new room. Definitely wasted upgrade.

My stay at Iberostar Grand was nothing short of wonderful! The only issue I have is the old carpeting they have on the floors of the hallways. I know this is to reduce noise but it is moldy and flared up my allergies. This would be the one and only reason why I will not return. Otherwise, this resort is worth the try. The staff is awesome and I really enjoyed my stay. Just a word of advice, please don't get upset about tipping. The staff does not make a lot of money and they work hard. Tipping will make your stay so much more enjoyable and bringing along enough singles to assist will be best. I heard so many folks complaining about the expectation of tipping and just wanted to voice my opinion. The food selection is amazing and you will not have any trouble finding something to eat. The spa is really nice and I strongly recommend the Jamaican Ritual. The onsite entertainment is a bit overdone but not bad. There are plenty of towels available and the pool and beach areas are well maintained. The chairs are a bit stained so just use two towels to cover the entire length of the chair.

First All Inclusive

This was our first "all inclusive" and did not disappoint! PROS: Apple Vacation made booking seamless. All you can eat and drink - what else do you need? The staff was AMAZING (thanks Ian, Danielle, Renauldo and Shane). Grounds were beautiful and pool and beach relaxing. Very accommodating. CONS: Apple Vacation rep did not mention our free golf day until I asked about it at the end of trip. Seemed to push to get excursions (only) through them. Rep said it was because Apple Vacation was responsible for us and we would be protected if we booked through them. But then I was asked to sign a waiver for the excursion saying Apple Vacation wasn't responsible if anything happened. Not cool. One rep (Dominique) very attentive and accommodating. Other rep - Set a time to meet but was never there. Not accommodating. I had to text Dominique to make sure our departing info got to the right people. All in all good trip. No major hiccups. We missed our flight to the resort and Apple Vacation Rep Angela was extremely proactive in contacting the resort and making sure everything worked out. I would use Apple Vacation again for sure!

The best resort in Jamaica

We had a beautiful week at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The butlers, Ojay, Andre, and Randy made certain that we had all we needed. Andre made us a lovely rose petal bath! The food selection, specialty restaurants were excellent. Loved the Japanese! Great jerk chicken at the buffets and grill. The bartenders were great as well. Tried Ricardo's rummy yummy! The beach was long and great swimming. Beautiful, well appointed room and patio. This is the best resort we have stayed at in Jamaica. We cannot say enough good things. We must go back soon

The hotel was very nice and the food was good. I can't say enough good things about the beach and the quality of the resort. However, there were two issues. First, we were supposed to have a butler, who did introduce himself once, but then never came back. I wouldn't have noticed any issue other than that I had stayed at the hotel once before and the butler service was one of the most fun features. When we checked in, there must not have been a butler available, so we missed the "orientation" about the hotel, including what the butler had to offer, and the hotel never really made up for it. Second, we were presented with a free massage in exchange for breakfast with a hotel employee to discuss potential services about the hotel. I thought this might have been in lieu of the butler explaining options, but it turned out to be a pitch for basically a timeshare. The whole ordeal took two hours of our morning, and we didn't do anything prior to 10 a.m. when our meeting was scheduled, so we lost a half-day of vacation. And that was only after we repeatedly said we weren't going to buy anything, so you have to either avoid this presentation or stick to your guns, unless you are interested in their program.

Iberostar Montego Bay Jamaica

This was our 1st trip to Jamaica, and I couldn't have been more satisfied with the hotel staff, room, butler service, maids, etc. The drinks were outstanding and the bartenders were funny. Everyone there made you feel welcome. The only con (just my opinion) was that the food on the buffets was either luke warm or cold. The sit down restaurants were great and the food came out hot and was excellent. I would definitely give this vacation a 5 start rating.

We had a great time in Jamaica. The people were fantastic..always wanting to help. Service was fantastic, drinks yummy! We were only disappointed in the main buffet one evening and were a little sad that the only times we could get into the specialty restaurants was 8:30 pm. We loved everything else.

We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall 3 weeks ago for 8 days. Everything was excellent. The food...... the food..... Wow. The food was great. Lobster, crab, shrimp, mussels, steak, fish, cheese, the list goes on. And it was GREAT! The drinks were also very good. The service was very good and the bartenders and wait staff were friendly and fun. The rooms are large. Nice walk in shower, jetted tub, and two vanities. The bar was always stocked and the chips, chocolate and nuts were a nice touch. The beaches were great and clean and the pools were also nice and very clean. This was our third trip to Jamaica and our first time at this resort. This one is top notch all the way across. The spa, the entertainment, I could keep going but you get the idea. If there is a negative, the only one is they do allow smoking by the pool. It was a minor inconvenience. I'd like it if they changed that, but otherwise, absolute paradise.

Definitely coming back!

We just got back from 6 nights at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall and it was amazing. The staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. Anything you want, they will do their best to accommodate. The food was excellent! There are many restaurants to choose from, and our butler set up the reservations for us so we did not have to do a thing! The biggest decision of the day was pool or beach? We are already planning to come back again next year.

The hotel staff is wonderful. Buffets are great and restaurants are average. The building exterior and interior are in need of a new paint job. The drainages in the shower was slow. I showered in a pool of water. The five star experience is overrated.

2nd time and still the charm

This was our 2nd visit to this resort having stayed in April 2017. We arrived early and front desk were nice enough to allow earlier check-in. They were obviously still setting up and I quipped (i'm a bit demanding) about the room alcohol situation. We left for lunch and upon my return, I found 2 large bottles of premium rum, an ice bucket and an excellent fruit platter delivered. Good Start. I walked down to the pool level where several staff recognizing me from last year, approached and after some high fives and hugz we visited port Maria for lunch (an ocean side restaurant). Buffet style, they change up the menu daily. They serve up everything from sword fish to jerk chicken, along with whichever theme of the day and they make a "killer" Angus burger. In addition, there is usually a beach party going on where you can sample some great foods while listening to a steel band. In general, I'm not a huge fan of themed restaurants, preferring buffets because they change the theme each night so I will eventually sample everything. For example, on any given night, in addition to the "theme", they will grill a fillet mignon to your temperature and/or your choice of fish and a side of sushi. Breakfast is very good, they percolate Blue Mountain coffee and give you the carafe. Today, we had a very early start. I ordered room service the night before and at exactly 6: am they delivered everything I'd asked for and more. I'm sure there are a few gourmet style resorts springing up which are on par with food and beverage, however here is the secret. Its the staff which brought me back. Whether its the line worker, who proactively toasted my burger bun and melted cheddar (she remembered), or Donald who wanted to make sure I was happy with the crepes. The Activities staff each have a "nick name" reflecting their personality. Vanessa, Hashtag or Baywatch seeking me out in the pool area because they know I like beach volleyball and horseshoe contest. Pistachio or Tweety bird checking on my wife from time to time to make sure she is having fun and inviting her to this event or that. Even, Riccardo who is in charge of Pool maintenance, came over to check on us on numerous occasions. Then we have Thunda (from above) who is at the heart of everything, whether its pool side activities to evening entertainment (most of the crew take part in the evening shows). On some days I wanted to lay back and read my book while others I chose to be active. We had a terrific time and will be back... until then yah man!

Iberostar Grand, not so grand, sorry this is so long......

Just got back from Grand Rose Hall, a group of 6. The weather terrific, beach okay. Water nice, warm, shallow, lots of people enjoying the water every day. Sand is more coarse than other Caribbean beaches. No shells, no waves? Where are the waves? Arrival to the resort was smooth. Front desk staff was cordial but not over the top welcoming. I am not sure about the butler - did not do a thing for us. We had arranged our dinners prior to arrival. Rooms were fine, very similar to the Grand in Mexico and the Dominican, so no issues there. Most standard rooms have a view of the ocean, so don't pay for that. Room was musty smelling (bring incense) and hallways are very dark and carpeted and could use brightening up. Elevators as well could use some servicing - always one out of order, which was not comforting. What I found different from other 5 star resorts was the level of service and attention to detail. We received a phone call on our first day there asking us if we 'were part of the wedding party group'(we were not) - he did not call us by name so I was a bit suspicious. The second day I received a phone call from someone identifying themselves as a bellboy, again he did not use our names and they asked what time we wanted our suitcases picked up since he heard we were leaving tomorrow! - on day 2 of our vacation! I was not impressed. The other 2 couples did not receive any welcome phone call at all - asking if we were good and if we needed anything. Not sure what these people were doing? We ordered room service one morning for 7am. Hung the request on the door the night before as directed. Never came. Our friends had one miss as well. A disappointment in this level of service. We ate at all a la carte restaurants. We all managed to find something to eat. Not outstanding cuisine compared to other Grand resorts. Dress codes here are not enforced. People came into Italian and Gourmet restaurants wearing shorts and flip flops. Why have a dress code? We ate in the buffet one evening for Italian night.... just ok. Breakfast buffet is fine - not the selection as other resorts we have been to, but always something to eat. Lunch buffet was probably the best food. House wine is limited compared to other Grand's. Poolside was nice enough- 3 good sized pools showing some wear with many missing tiles, but it never felt crowded. We got our space by the pool every morning without issue. Mind you, we were up at 7am to secure spots while my husband went to grab coffee from the shop at the resort next door. Floaters, not a lot of them but we managed to share a few each day. ( Better yet, bring your own.) Some days they asked for your room number some days they did not? It's not like I am taking it home. Sunscreen is provided at the towel hut if you don't mind cross contaminating. (not for me) A lovely lady behind the counter will even do your back and the top of your head - if you ask. Poolside service was intermittent at best, not the ladies fault, not well staffed. When they did come around, they were lovely. Some issues with straws. The resort does ask that you refrain from using straws since it is contributing to plastic getting into the ocean, but if you ask a waiter they usually oblige. Day 1- can I have a straw, no problem. Day 2- can I have a straw, no problem. Day 3- can I have a straw, "NO there are no straws here" ( The beautiful girl in the bikini beside us had no problem getting a straw but for us it was a NO). Not sure about the selective straw issuance? (BYOS) As an aside, we were all pretty good about using only 1 straw a day! We like to sit outside for breakfast, a group of 6. No problem on day 1, no problem on day 2, on day 3 when we asked, the staff said "No, we do not seat 6 outside". Not sure what that was about? Turn down service was hit and miss as was daily room make up. I think we had one or the other but not both. Not sure why this was such a problem? Stocking the room was fine but not to Mexico standards. When we were checking out, we arranged a wakeup call the night before. They called us at 5am and hung up and then called at 6, the correct time. We arranged for the bell boy to pick up our luggage at 7 - he never showed. We took our own luggage down. When we got down there, there was not a bellboy to be seen. At the counter, they just checked some papers and said - let me cut off your bracelet. No real warm good-bye or come again soon? Some of these issues may sound petty, but cumulatively it was disappointing service for what we paid for. No worries man, we won't be returning..... Our group loved the sun and the opportunity to be together, but not impressed overall by the service, food, or beverages. We were disappointed in the resort compared to other Grand's and Excellence resorts (which we love) -which are way above this level of service and care.
