Best vacation EVER

I went to Iberostar for my 30th bday, and it was by FAR the best vacation EVER!! The view was breath-taking, and our room was perfect. The staff definitely made my cousin and I feel extra special. whenever we walked by any of the staff we were always greeted with a dazzling smile. The food was delicious and always well prepared. Presley, the front desk attendant, was so helpful during our check in process. Our butler, Donovan, was AMAZING, he stopped at nothing to make sure we were happy and enjoying our stay. When Presley first introduced himself to us, he sang for us, and he has an amazing voice. Our other morning butler, Rory, was awesome as well, we received extra turn down service randomly through the day, and they decorated our room for my special day. Dennis, Mikakeal, Kamar made our dining experience amazing. On my actual birthday, Dennis made us a special dessert and Mikakeal came to the table with a dessert dish balancing on his head!! Whenever we walked past the buffet we were greeted by name. Shavard, Ahkeem, and Andraris kept the tasty drinks coming with good jokes and information about Jamacia. Gwayne and Monique were very friendly as well. Everyone was awesome the few above are just the few that made our stay extra extra special. We are planning to return in February. :)

Booked the Grand last minute because we could not get a reservation at our "regular" resort. We were very pleased from the get go! Check-in was fast and easy. We had an "entry" level room, and it was stunning! The grounds are immaculate and the pools were wonderful! The staff are pleasant and accommodating! Of the restaurants, the surf and turf was hands down our favorite! Being from the Midwest, I was totally surprised at the quality of the steak, which was cooked perfectly both times we went! Shout out to the cooks! However, wanted to say something special about our server, Godfrey. He was amazing! The only down side to our stay was when we attended the presentation of the offer of becoming members of Iberostar. We were assured that there would be no pressure and that whether we bought in or not, we would not be treated any different. Just for the record, asking people to commit to a large amount of money in 2 hours is unreasonable. There is sales pressure, even though it probably is a great deal, I couldn't make that commitment at that moment. And yes, you are treated differently. Not by staff but by the sales people. With that being said, we still truly enjoyed our stay and will most certainly return!

I stayed at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall for my honeymoon from 6/3/17 to 6/9/17. I have stayed at 3 Iberostar's before, the Suites next door being one of them. This was my first Grand. All I can say is WOW. I am not sure how anyone can rate this hotel less than 5 stars. The staff truly make your stay absolutely amazing. Check in was super simple. We even received a free room upgrade. The rooms are spacious, huge bathroom and comfortable bed. The refrigerator and snacks are restocked daily. I read that visitor's never saw their butler except for the first day. I am not sure how true this statement is. I saw my butler every single day. He was constantly asking if we needed anything. He even brought us in some honeymoon t-shirts and got champagne sent to our room. The beach is very nice and relaxing. Mind you, if you are going for a beach experience I would suggest Negril but regardless nothing compares to this resort. The beach was clean at all times. The pools were very enjoyable and spacious. It was never too crowded. The staff is what really makes the resort the 5 star experience that it is. They are constantly trying to get you involved but at the same time they are not pushy. They understand people are on vacation and may simply want to relax. Everyone was so positive and really made you feel as if you were home. The food choices were plentiful and you will not go hungry here. The buffet had an endless supply and the specialty restaurants were great. I would highly recommend taking advantage of the spa. Even if you do not purchase a service you can still use the spa pools which are very relaxing. Lastly, I am not sure how important it is to you but the new gym built on the property is the best gym I have ever been to at a resort. It allowed me to do cardio, lift weights and also do crossfit lifts and workouts. It will be able to meet everyone's needs. I cannot wait to return!

Ya Mon! Greatest Memorial Day Vacation Ever!

This is a beautiful property with well kept lush grounds, clean rooms and common areas. The four infinity pools were great and the available single and double poolside loungers made for a good relaxing day. Drink service was readily available and prompt (bring a few dollars for special service). The poolside bar was great for swim up service. Concierge service was available thruout the hotels near the elevators for special requests like restaurants reservations. Of the four available the Surf and Turf was considered by all to be the best. There were several prime choices, I had the best New York Strip I've ever had. Other choices were Filet Mignon, and Porterhouse which were 12 to 16 oz. If you go to the Japanese choice I would recommend the ala carte menus versus the Hibachi. The downside to the restaurants was that you were not able to get special wine requests without paying a lot for a bottle. All my daughter wanted was White Zinfandel and was told she could only get it in her minibar. After a bit of fuss she was able to have them make a few of the small bottles available. This caused my overall rating to drop to 4.5. A five star would have available more top shelf liquors.. Service in the hotel was tip top......you had Butler service to make sure all your wishes were covered. Another downside was that requests that were made on the Iberostar website did not come thru as requested and required multiple requests to finally get some resolution. Everyone was always pleasant though.

OVERALL We stayed from May 3-May 13, 2017. This resort is terrific. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are very clean, the food is pretty good, and drinks are constantly available and delicious. And the service from the staff is tremendous! THE ROOM We had an ocean view room and really appreciated the beautiful view from our very spacious balcony, complete with a sofa, end table and swing. It's a little too bad that the swing doesn't directly face the ocean. The bed was very comfortable. They let you select your pillow, which would be great if they put it in a different color pillowcase as, after a day or two, the pillow I selected got kinda lot in the other pillows. No big deal. The bathroom is large and I liked the drenching shower head. The electrical outlet was kinda "iffy" though and I worried about it whenever I plugged something in. Also, it would be good if the separate toilet area was frosted glass, rather than clear, so...you know. Privacy! It would be nice if there was a separation barrier between our balcony and the one next door so that if we walked to the railing, we would not see the people on the next balcony. Also, do not leave your sliding glass door open. If you do, condensation will form on the tile floor. My husband went in from the balcony to answer the phone, slipped and got hurt. THE RESTAURANTS We really enjoyed the meats: beef, pork, lamb. For some reason, they do not prepare seafood very well, which surprised me so much as I had imagined mostly eating fresh fish and crab. Lobster was not available during the time we were there. But the fish, and I tried MANY times, was either very fishy or was mushy. Yuck! Also, desserts are beautiful but bland. We ate twice in El Galleon and had wonderful steaks. We also enjoyed Kinro, the Japanese place, which was another favorite. The chef the first night was fantastic. The second time the chef was a lot less experienced and nowhere near as enjoyable. The Jamaican restaurant was pretty good, but didn't have any Curry Goat, which I had been hoping for. We liked La Toscana and would have eaten there more often if we could. Es Palau was our least favorite, although we ended up eating there twice. The buffets were good -- I got pork with crackling on it one night, but a was lot of "look good" with not especially tasty items. Port Maria, an outdoor buffet, cannot be beat for the ocean view at either breakfast or lunch, but I don't want to wave away the flies to get to the sliced buffet meat. Yuck again. I must give a special nod to Shakira, with the green glasses (in Port Maria and also in the in door breakfast buffet). She was always attentive and lots of fun. I also want to mention Fenton the wine steward. He was always very nice and remembered our names. BTW, the menu never changes and was set in stone 8 or 9 years ago when the resort opened, so there are no "specials." That means if there is a dish which usually would have lobster in it, this time of year it has shrimp in it. We also really enjoyed the beach buffet at lunch, although the selection was quite limited. I recommend it for lunch (Jerk Chicken, etc.). THE ALCOHOL Plentiful. I thought it was always top shelf. Anything you want. The only thing was that the wine SUCKS. Some Spanish stuff. And if you want to "upgrade" to Robert Mondavi, you have to pay extra ($33-$35) So I recommend you drink other things at dinner. ROOM SERVICE We ordered it twice. They do a pretty good job. The French fries were really fresh and hot! We were on our honeymoon and were supposed to get a bottle of champagne. Well, it was Night Seven of a nine night stay and no champagne, so I called room service and asked for it to be in our room the next night at 5:30 p.m. so we could enjoy it before our 7:00 p.m. dinner reservation. At 5:40, with no champagne, I called room service and asked if it had been forgotten. "No darling," the lady said, "it is on the way." It arrived at 6:15, which didn't leave us much time, and I feel sure it actually had been forgotten. THE POOL We never had trouble finding something in the shade, but you do have to scout around. Of course, we never were competing for the top spots around the pool. The resort does provide sunscreen, but for 3 days they only had 15 SPF. Running out of 30 or 50 SPF for days is inexcusable! Also, it would be nice if they had a privacy screen to apply it behind because you have to put in on in front of everyone at the towel dispensary. I would really like to give praise to Gwayne who was so sweet. He is training to become a butler and I think he will be a good one. And the swim up pool bar staff is a lot of fun! The service around the pool is outstanding too. EXERCISE I did the water yoga and the water aerobics classes which were great, but could have gone on longer. i also participated one day in the Zumba class on the beach. The class consisted of me, one other lady, and the instructor. We were on a platform, right in front of everyone, in the hot 4:00 p.m. sun. The other lady wasn't able to keep up with the moves and the instructor (Olivia) chastised her! After that song, the other lady left! Fortunately, it was only a 30 minute class, which was good because it was really HOT out there! THE SPA For some reason, all robes throughout the hotel, including the one in your room, seem to be on the small side. I'm average American woman size. This means that the robe doesn't fully cover the front, bottom, part of a person. At the spa, I had to walk around clutching my robe. I asked for a bigger size and the woman had to go over to the men's section to get one. Really? The hot stone massage was really GOOD. We had little time to linger afterwards as my masseuse hung around the front desk waiting for her tip. There weren't any of the usual spa things to gussy up with, such as Q-tips, lotions, etc. But the massage was definitely wonderful. THE ENTERTAINMENT I recommend the entertainment in the lobby each evening, which was very good and it was nice to sit there and have a drink. The shows each night at Grand Rose Hall vary: The dancers are clearly quite competent but look very bored, and the costumes are tired, with threads hanging down. it is interesting to see their take on what is mostly American entertainment. The singing ranges from terrific to terrible (that lady trying to sing "Phantom of the Opera" should pick another tune in her vocal range). It's my understanding that the shows are "pre-canned" and can be seen at other resorts around the Caribbean. The MC of the couples competition show is a very beautiful lady but her attitude is kinda cranky. Because you are in the Rose Hall Grand, you can go to to the other Iberostar resorts (Suites, Beach) on the property and see those shows too. We liked the magic show at Rose Hall Suites. What we really didn't like was being browbeaten into coming in to see a show, which happens if you walk past the door before showtime. THE OTHER RESORTS As a matter of fact, we did take a stroll down to the Suites and the Beach resorts. The Suites were pretty nice. You have to take a golf cart ride to get to the Beach, which is not as nice. But it was amazing how the crowd changed, i.e., much DRUNKER! It was nice to go back to the Grand Rose Hall and its much more pleasant atmosphere. THE SERVICE Can't be beat! We had consistently wonderful, attentive, service. The staff is very friendly. THE BUTLERS We were greeted right away by Kharson, who helped us select our pillows. Then we never heard from him again. We did hear from Dominic, but there wasn't really too much we needed. One thing though, this was our honeymoon. We had the turn down service, which wasn't much (no special animals made out of towels, etc. as I have read in other reviews). I had really hoped we would walk in one evening to find a bottle of champagne and rose petals in a hot bath, but that never happened. Were we supposed to have asked for it? I've read many reviews were people were surprised by this happening and I guess I wanted to be surprised. Didn't ever happen and I was disappointed. OUR TRAVEL AGENT I must mention that our travel agent, Ruth DeMuth, Ruth DeMuth, TripGuy Travel, ruth@tripguy.com, 888-990-TRIP (8747), ext. 102 sent us an extremely professional "kit" before we left, with all information neatly organized and even included cold drink "cozies" and a picture frame for us to use as a memento. But what really made her stand out was that our plane coming in to Jamaica to get us as we were leaving was delayed and all our connections had to be re-booked. Ruth, on a Sunday, was already aware and on top of the situation, and even got us upgraded. It was great to have her out there, looking after us. Thanks Ruth, we will use you again! All in all, we had a beautiful honeymoon in Jamaica and I highly recommend it.
