The setting of the hotel is beautiful. There is lots of wildlife that can be seen on the grounds (flamingos, lizards, peacocks, turtles, etc.). The rooms are somewhat dated. We went in August and it was VERY hot and humid. That left the rooms (and all your clothes) smelling very musty. The beach is not a swimming beach. Very rocky. Water shoes are a good idea. The food was OK. There are 3 additional restaurants in addition to the buffet restaurants (tex-mex, steakhouse, oriental). We went to the Tex-Mex and Steakhouse. They were good. The pool was very nice although the swim-up bar needs some repair (lots of tiles missing; very dated and not maintained). The staff is all very friendly. On meeting with the concierge, he tried to get us to attend a meeting for a Iberostar timeshare. Despite all his cajoling and offers of "freebies", we declined. There was nothing in the rooms to tell you hours of restaurants/buffets, spa, pool, etc. Menus for the restaurants would have been nice as well. Also no directions on how to use the safe in the room. Overall it was a fair experience. We have been to all-inclusive resorts that were better.

I don't know how the set up could be more diver friendly. The dive shop was 30 meters from my room, while the boat dock was only another 30 meters from the dive shop. Dive sites where between a 5 and 15 minutes boat ride. Dive staff where all super hard working and excellent!

Beautiful view. Enjoyed the family room. Will not book this room ever again as the air conditioning's lowest temperature reached was 28 degrees Celsius. That is 82 degrees Fahrenheit. We called maintenance to look at it and they explained the further the room was from the lobby the less their cooling system worked. My husband spoke to general manager and nothing changed. I was often overheated and nauseated due to the fact that I was never able to cool down. The temperature outside at night was cooler than my room. From now on I will stay at lowest price rooms which are located closest to the lobby where air conditioner works best.

Good facility, poor food quality.

We stayed at Iberostar in late June and really enjoyed the area. The facility is well maintained and staff was friendly. We had two massages, Carmen and Rafelia were amazing!! Our maid, Gaby, was also wonderful and very pleasant. Breakfast and lunch were ok as far as offerings go but dinner, other than the Steakhouse, were very disappointing. Bring your own bug spray as the tropical environment has a high amount of mosquitos. We would recommend renting a scooter or Jeep and drive around the island. We had a great time touring the island and downtown area, found a couple of great restaurants that made up for the hotel food. Really enjoyed being able to walk off the pier and snorkel or swim. Overall, the stay was good and we enjoyed ourselves, probably should have brought more snacks.

This is my 5th time staying at the Iberostar in Cozumel. Brought my 2 nieces with me this time. They loved Iberostar-Cozumel as I hoped they would. It is quite a compliment since it rained 3 out of the 4 days we had. Between the spa day and the energetic and engaging staff, our vacation was great--sun or no sun.

Transportation from the airport to the hotel – Amstar did a good job meeting us at the Cozumel airport and transporting us to the hotel. Arranging a trip from the hotel to the airport was very complicated – they suggested to our daughter very early inconvenient time for her transfer from the hotel. Only after very hot ‘discussion’ they were able to move it closer to her flight departure. Food in hotel – definitely does not ‘all inclusive’. Some expected for a 5-star resort things like smoked salmon or goat cheese were not available. Selection of food in a buffer was not extensive. Good quality drinks in a bar were for extra payment. In the restaurant for dinner they did not have a selection of wines – even a good choice was listed in the menu. It took me a half-hour arguing with the staff to get red wine which was on the menu list. Overall, food does not qualify for a 5-star all inclusive resort.

The resort was very nice, the service was excellent! The food was typical buffet , not bad but not great. The water around the dock was awesome for snorkeling, there is not a beach, it is mostly rock and coral but it was still great, a lot of sea life! There is a dive shop at the resort and they seem to be great! I highly recommend it!

I have spent a week here with a group of 17 women divers from Minnesota, USA. We have had an outstanding trip. The captain and mate of the el Astuto boat was so helpful. The dive masters, Fidel and Mosey, were superior. Their main concern was safety. They worked with each of us to improve our skill levels. The coral and fish were beautiful. The hotel and food accommodations were also great. Everyone has been so friendly. It is the best dive trip I have been on.

We have stayed at other Iberostar properties in the past and they were Grand Iberostar so when we booked here we kind of knew what to expect. This is one of there lower trier properties but you get a lower price. We got a standard room which are smaller than average but clean and looked good with hot water. If you travel don’t take this for granted. The grounds were well kept and looked great. The pool is nice but is worn some tiles need to be fixed and updated. We stayed 7 nights so we got two dinners at the specialty restaurants if you more you pay extra. The buffet was good but standard sometimes you just want a little better. The Lobby Bar and Beach Bar were better than the Pool Bar I just got a better drink and enjoyed those. The staff for the most part were great they were kind nice and tried to help if they could. So we had a very good week for what we paid and enjoyed the property.

We are currently staying at Iberostar Cozumel & are very impressed with the new fitness classes. We have stayed here many times before but the new instructor Diego is very good and the classes offered are excellent. The classes are as good as the ones offered back home. Give them a try!

Four of us spent a week here as a combination diving/beach week. The resort is located very far south in Cozumel, putting it near the diving, but quite far from town. The staff were pleasant and check in was relatively quick. We got an ocean front room which was very small, but pleasant and functional. The room appeared very clean The resort is somewhat difficult to navigate at first. It is not huge, but made so paths meander through trees, which gives the impression that the resort is larger and more spread out than It really is. It is very green and lush. Kind of like being in a jungle. Parrots, peacocks, iguanas, cats, turtles, and coatis were seen in the wooded areas. The bugs were not too bad. The air conditioner struggled at first, but eventually got the room down to 20C. Outlets in the room were very good. The room also had USB outlets by the desk which was a nice touch there was a phone charger built into the phone which would have been awesome had it worked. Best of all was a ceiling fan over the bed. The bed was large and comfortable. Linens were always clean. The bathroom was large enough, but it was nearly impossible to get a comfortable water temperature in the shower; either too hot or too cold. There were always plenty of towels and they would bring more in the evening if we wanted more. Maid service was very good. The room had a small fridge which was stocked with beer, pop, and water daily. The wifi was somewhat erratic, but mostly functional. It seemed to work throughout the resort area. The TV was big, but only got a few English channels. The gym was very small. It was just two guest rooms filled with some of the weight equipment and a treadmill. It was functional for one person, maybe two, but three would be too much for the room. A new gym was being built while we were there. The pool was great. Big and clean and the pool bar was open on two sides so less crowded. Showers were available poolside and there was a bathroom nearby which is a necessity. The beach looks nice, but it was actually very rocky. Swimming directly from the beach was next to impossible. They had a nice pier with stairs down to a swimming area, which was actually pretty decent. There were lots of fish under the pier and even an octopus. The watersports office was great. Kayaks, windsurfers, hobie cats. Easy to rent and pretty nice area off the resort to play around. The big problem is all the dive boats passing back and forth. Overall I thought the food was very good. We had the same issue with the specialty restaurants as at other Iberostar resorts. We were only allowed three visits and reservations were somewhat hard to get. Still we were able to visit all three during the week. The Tex mex was OK, Asian was good, steakhouse was great. Buffet restaurants were really good. Lots of food and always a good selection. Bar service was usually very good. Rarely did we have to wait more than a few minutes. The entertainment staff were excellent. Hardworking and pleasant. They would join us at lunch and poolside. The nightly shows were entertaining. The dive shop was convienient. They had a gear storage area and a wetsuit drying area. The dive staff were helpful. The dive boats were big and not too crowded. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Iberostar. There is a trade off being so far from town, but the resort was pleasant and comfortable and I have been to town many times over the last 25 years so I don't feel I missed all that much. I would probably stay here again.

Nice family resort

This resort has a lot to offer families at a fair price. Our kids took advantage of the dive shop being onsite, and they did their first discovery dives. The resort is made up of a bunch of small 2 story buildings, which we found to be unique and cozy. The food is good, but make sure you check out their food policy, there are restrictions based on the length of your stay.
