Many staff were friendly and well trained, many were not. Frequently the bars did not have the top shelf liquor as advertised. Some bottles had clearly been either diluted or they put a much less costly liquor in the bottle. For example: a bottle of Tanquery Gin at the beach bar was not even Gin. Gin has a very distinct flavor and that was clearly NOT Gin. Frequently when going into the buffet area there were empty tables but they were all still had dirty dishes. Maybe it was a staffing issue, but it seemed that there shouldn't be that many dirty tables during breakfast & dinner service. Consierge Manuel Gonzalez was OUTSTANDING. Very friendly & helpful. He speaks 4 languages and is very informed about the hotel services as well as local areas.

First of all most vacations are what you make of them. 2nd time there probably the last , Hotel overall was O.K. Beach had too much sea weed and the locals who are hired to clean it daily did poor work , Swimming Pool outdated and not properly maintained, Food was O.K. I have been to many Iberostars this time it was not recognized even after I told them a couple times starting at check in Amstar travel products are bonafide tourist traps , As experienced travelers in the D.R. Overall we had a good time on vacation.

Good 3 Star All Inclusive

The staff were excellent overall but we were disappointed by the cups and trash still by the pool, on the beach and throughout the resort every morning. The Apple Rep misrepresented 2 of our excursions One was a city tour and he told us as long as we had 6 it would be private but we were loaded on a bus with 8 others and he told us the bus ride for one excursion was an hour and it was 2 hrs 20 mins! The beds were incredibly hard . The 3 specialty restaurants were excellent. The liquor was lower end then what we expected and are used to. The fitness center was the best I have seen in 12 years of resorts Overall I would say good medium level inclusive

Hotel room was average, we did upgrade to the ocean view which was nice but all rooms appear to be the same and could use some updating. Being that this on the Atlantic side don't expect the white sand of punta cana, but it is still very nice with palm trees. Big down fall is the lack of beach chairs and condition of them, honestly if you aren't out there at the crack of dawn you need to hunt for one! The food, service and attitude of the staff was excellent! The people working there really did make the stay here worth it.

Overall this was a clean and very friendly place to stay. Beach and pool areas were nice. Some of the entertainment was horrible (my opinion) but some of the shows were a lot of fun. Some of the restaurants good some just okay. We all enjoyed our vacation! A good time was had by all!

Beach could have been cleaner. Food was okay. Not much variety on the buffet so it was kind of repetitive. Very busy on the weekends when the locals came in. We liked the quietness of the Puerta Plata area but the resort is too small if you are staying for longer than a week. We only stayed for 1 show at night. After listening to the first 5 singers for karaoke singing in spanish (they were all local people) we left. Iberostar needs to change their entertainment at night. This is the 5th Iberostar that we stayed at and the shows are almost the same. This is not a 5 golden apple resort. More like a 4 golden apple. We have stayed at 4 red apple resorts that were nicer than this one.

Exceptionally clean! The staff is friendly, young and very helpful! I have never seen a place where everyone works so hard to ensure that you are taken care of and happy. I had to touch the grass to see if it was real ! The views from every room ( garden/ocean) is beautiful . I felt very secure on this resort. Just the right size ... Not too big ...easy to walk... Especially for the elderly . Highly recommend . Thank you for a beautiful vacation . Larry from Amerstar was special !

This was my second time going to Iberostar Pop, I love it the first time about 4-5 yrs ago. I was disappointed this time around. I couldn't believe how run down the hotel looked. The food selection was poor and basically the same every day. I complained to the bartender about the quality of the drinks and he said that he can't make good drinks if he's not provided with the liquor. He is correct. I believe Managent has to rethink there strategy. All the guests that I spoke to where dissapointed and fighting as well.

We returned to this lovely resort for the second time in as many years. The staff is wonderful! Friendly, accommodating and top notch service! The food and drink offering were outstanding as were the meals offered at the 3 restaurants. The beach cookouts were outstanding! The nightly entertainment good, but could be improved. As a repeat customer I had seen a few of their shows the previous year. I would still recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice relaxing vacation. There are 2 things which prevented me from giving this resort a “5” rating. The first is the air conditioning units in the rooms. They do not vent the moist air outdoors that is generated by the cooling unit and the rooms tend to be damp and sometimes smell musty. I would hope that this company will soon upgrade those systems so that guests can enjoy a cool and DRY room to escape the heat of the day and to sleep well at night. It would likely reduce their operating expenses too! This would be a huge improvement. The second issue was the main pool. The water was cloudy most of the week and there were many spots where there was exposed concrete where paint had deteriorated. There were also numerous locations where algae was present underwater. It wasn’t “aweful”, but you would expect that the only pool at the place would be kept impeccably. I certainly would go to this resort again.

The waiter Tavavez in the buffet restaurant is fantastic – Iberostar is a fantastic resort to!

Our second time at the Dominican Republic, and another great holiday. The first time we stayed at Gran Ventana Playa Dorada and this time at Iberostar Costa Dorada. The facilities are amazing, tennis, gym, pool, massage, scuba diving, volleyball, football, table tennis and much more. The rooms are in great condition and lived up to the expectations we had. The big buffet is very good with very varied and high-quality food. There is plenty of bars around the resort and you can get whatever you want to drink. The entertainment at the hotel is very good with shows every evening (We loved Lion King). The entertainment team makes it fun to be at the resort day and night. They make sure people are entertained. Barbie, Blondie, Wifi, Justin Bieber, Pepsi (sorry if I forgot one) are great and makes you feel right at home with nicknames like Tarzan, Sexy Coconut and have no problems with getting people to join their games. All of the above is a little better at Iberostar than at Gran Ventana! BUT there are 2 negative things to say about Iberostar. 1) The buffet is really good, but the 3 restaurants are not good, I would max give them 2 stars out of 5. At Gran Ventana their restaurants were much better, I would give them close to 5 stars. 2) At Gran Ventana the staff was very smiling and helpful in the buffet and at the restaurants, I did not experience the same thing at Iberostar. Especially at the restaurants, they were neither particularly smiling nor service minded. We tried all the restaurants at Iberostar, we did not want to try any of them again, the buffet is much better. I visit resorts again - if the resorts have a fantastic and absolute amazing staff. I went for a week at Iberostar and was disappointed with the staff in both the buffet and the restaurants, but then we met a waiter called Tavavez in the buffet. Tavavez is the best waiter I have ever met and if I could, I would have taken him home to Denmark. Tavavez speaks Spanish and a little English and we speak only Danish and English so we could not communicate that well, but that wasn’t a problem! He cared for us like we were the most important people in the world. When Tavavez had 3 days off, he explained the day before that he wasn’t coming for 3 days, but he would make sure we got some waiters who personally took care of us. Bonne and Cessarin to great care of us, when Tavavez wasn’t there and they are really amazing and really good waiters. In addition, we also met Alondra a waiter who is everywhere at the resort. She is always happy and smiling and very helpful. If we get back to Iberostar again, Its because we got a fantastic treatment from Tavavez, Bonne, Cessarin and Alondra. I would like to see them again very much. They are some outstanding people. Give them the best wishes from Janne, Simon, Sebastian and Filip.

Nice hotel all inclusive, good choice of food but make sure you book your restaurants as buffet gets a bit boring, rooms dated but ok, WiFi good, pool and pool bar excellent and lots too do. Check in wasn’t great and some staff are excellent others not not brilliant but overall very good and would stay again!

Overall great place!

Stayed here 5th - 12th march with my wife and little girl. Hotel is very well kept and surroundings are beautiful although rooms could do with updating. We stayed in a junior suite (5218) however I would recommend saving the money as not worth the extra at all. We travelled with friends who were in block 2 with a pool facing room and there room I would say was a nicer room with nicer views ( our sea view was actually palm tree tops lol) Food was great, lots of choice and resteraunts were also very good. Entertainment was fantastic with good variety, I never personally done a lot with animation team so can't comment but all were nice. Overall highly recommend.

We have just returned from a seven night break at this lovely hotel and would highly recommend if you would like a stress free vacation, lovely friendly staff who try to make your holiday very special and all done with a smile. The grounds of this hotel are superb with Peacocks,Turtles and Pink flamingoes giving it a very special feel. The grounds of the Hotel lead to a lovely sandy /palm tree beach where you can spend many hours sunbathing .The only downside of the beach are the many beach sellers trying to encourage you to their Market that is simply metal shacks and rusty and old stock, be aware and avoid. Not Iberostars fault but maybe an issue that they could raise with the authorities . The room we stayed in was a little dated and would benefit from an upgrade but the bed was really comfortable and was a peaceful location, the maid was excellent and created lovely towel animals, restocked fridge and maintained the room to a high standard. The food was well prepared with good options from breakfast to dinner. We thought the snack bar was superb and all the staff were a credit to the hotel. In summary a great stay from day one and memories to last . Congratulations to all at the Iberostar Costa Dorada.
