Beautiful beach!

I came here with my 5 year old for a 5 day trip. The hotel wasn't very busy so check in was very quick and we got a choice of rooms which was nice. The grounds I found to be very lush and clean, I really liked that there was lots of vegetation. Our room was nice and clean and this was probably one of the best beaches I have been on. The sand was white and just the perfect turquoise sea. The pool I think needs some maintenance but they are closing down for renovations I hear. They also had a nice pool section for kids with great slides. The food was very good as were the drinks. We tried two restaurants, the mediterranean as well as the steak house, which were both good. The steak was very good! Over all a great stay and I would come back here, mainly for the beach. I loved the kids section as well as the fact that there was entertainment every night and the people there were all very friendly. Would definitely recommend! More>

Rest cation

My husband and I were in great need of a rest cation as I call it. From Travel Agent ,Hostesses and Butlers. I sit on my flight home listening to another passenger give negative after negative reviews as to how her Resort never came up to par during her vacation.I then realized how great all involved in our trip actually were. Our Travel Agent Kim K. of Nashville Express Travel to our Butlers Justo. And Blady and to our Hostess Feline. Then I thanked God for all of the above. They had all of our wants and needs met before we even realized that we were in need. We were made to feel right at home. The employees of Iberostar truly have exemplified what true Customer service is all about. Hats off to Iberostar. I have and will continue to tell all of my friends and anyone else planning to travel to Punta Cana of your greatness. Sam and Lorraine More>

Amazing experience and value

I stayed at the Bavaro 26 August-1 Sep 2016. Upon arrival until departure, I felt like I was the only guest. The staff is very attentive, pleasant and accommodating. The grounds are immaculate. There is constant grounds keeping going on, and 99% done by hand, no machine noises except one lawn mower, otherwise you never heard a thing other than the sound of the ocean, and the gentle breeze. The beach front junior suite was 10 paces from being on the beach, no need to reserve a beach chair, just go back to your own on the deck, rinse and repeat! The room itself is extordinarily clean and spacious, the bed was super comfy with pillows you will want to steal. I do want to give a shout to the chambermaid Margarita for being so astute and keeping everything in perfect shape. There are walk up and swim up bars everywhere, if you don't have a drink in your hand, it's because you don't want one. The food options are simply amazing and you would have to stay a month to get to it all. The gourmet (French) restaurant is by far the best, so pack a pair of slacks gents, you need them to dine there. If you are an eat to live person, the buffet restaurant is a perfect option, if you live to eat, make nightly reservations at the specialty restaurants, you will not be disappointed. The nightly shows are a bit amateurish but they are entertaining and they put a lot of effort and energy into them and it is clear that the entertainers are very much into what they do and they are happy when the crowd is having fun. The beach is beautiful, the water is crystal clear and there is plenty of off site day trips to choose from. I only participated in the "sailing adventure", which included snorkeling, lunch at a floating restaurant, and playing water polo in a sea pool. But talking with other guests, it was clear to me that whatever trip you pick is likely to be big fun. I have vacationed mostly in Europe and I have to say that this was the best ever, and I will be returning! More>

Second time around

We have just returned home from our second family holiday at the Bavaro Suites and had a fantastic time. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and I would like to say a big thank you to Ramon in the restaurant and Flanagan in the lobby who were excellent. Our rooms were perfect, the food superb and the grounds beautiful. Also a big thank you to Yannick who we booked a fantastic excursion through. It was the full day trip to San Pedro and Altos De Chevon. Hans Vanholm was the guide and he was brilliant, very informative and funny. We really got a feel for the Dominican way of life and visited places away from the normal tourist routes. The school we visited that Hans has help set up for sugar cane workers children was particularly heart warming. I would really recommend this tour, it is a long day but well worth it. We will be visiting again in the future. More>

Nice Resort but has alot of room for improvement

We stayed at the Bavaro Suites in August. We had an ocean front suite on the second floor, and the location was perfect, even with little children. When we arrived the air-conditioning was not working, the floor had not been swept by the cleaning crew, and the refrigerator just kept the beverages fairly cool. The A/C was fixed in a few hours, the cleaning crew swept the floors and the fridge stayed as is. Not a great start, but honestly they dealt with the big issues fairly quickly. Now i am used to good food, great service and accommodations on a trip and I am very sensitive to these qualities. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. Also, you cant drink the water there (even though they pour you water for dinner and breakfast and lunch). All of my family had stomach issues. We had to bring water with us because the servers would give us attitudes when we asked for bottled water at the buffets and restaurants. Same items everyday at breakfast, lunch had some different items, but for the most part the same items daily, and dinner was the same. We ate at a few restaurants (the mexican being the best and steak house second ( the ribeye was the only item I would eat at the steak house). I would not touch the others if you paid me. Ok, so lets get past the food issues and talk about service. Service had mixed reviews. At the buffet, I had some very nice people serve us and some very nasty people. It was very strange how different the service was based on where we were sitting in the buffet area. Took forever to get a drink - forever. Also, be prepared to sweat alot at dinner - the fans do nothing to help the humidity. The Star Cafe was a nice place to wind down the day. The cleaning service for the rooms was quite excellent. The fridge was restocked daily and i had to call the concierge desk for restocking only a few times. I made my own coffee in the room with bottled water every morning and evening cause I didn't trust the water situation at the restaurants and buffets. Service at the bars were fine. Drinks were so-so. nothing great. Service on the beach depended where you sat on the beach since there was only one person servicing the beach. If you want a good seat on the beach or pool, wake up at 6:15 like I did every day. otherwise good luck. Also a few people left their items on the chairs overnight, which i think is unfair - but the resort does nothing to stop this. This is not what i think about when i think of vacation - waking up early is not relaxing for me. The water sports were poor for a resort - period. The beach was kept clean and the ocean was fairly clean of debris and swimmable. Look all in all, for the price, you get what you pay for (and the price actually is pretty fair). But once you get past the affordability, it just did not live up to my expectations. I will not be returning again. If you are looking for a great experience, without worries of getting stomach viruses everyday then this is not a place for you. If you are looking to relax and not wake up early to get a decent seat at the beach or pool - this is not for you. If you are looking for average food and above - this is not for you. If you want to be pampered by service - this is not for you. That said, my kids had a blast regardless of their stomach issues. The resort needs a face lift 0 which i believe it getting this month, but still would not make me return. More>
